McGraw-Hill Education traces its history back to 1888 when James H. McGraw, co-founder of the company, purchased the American Journal of Railway Appliances. He continued to add further publications, eventually establishing The McGraw Publishing Company in 1899. His co-founder, John A. Hill, had also produced several technical and trade publications and in 1902 formed his own business, The Hill Publishing Company.
In 1909 both men agreed upon an alliance and combined the book departments of their publishing companies into The McGraw-Hill Book Company. John Hill served as President, with James McGraw as Vice-President. 1917 saw the merger of the remaining parts of each business into The McGraw-Hill Publishing Company, Inc.
I bought this book after I had taken an university course about "Development ´s Psicology" in order to understand the procces of learning in science and education. After that, I have discovered in this book an excellente guide for understanding the different stages in the human beings psicological development and according to this information, work in the correct way of informing and teaching other people about complex information in science.
I have not read everything in this 640-page book, but I went through it page by page, and found it very interesting. The book is a Human Development manual, explaining how humans become humans - how, from before birth and onto death, we develop and show our humane character to the world: how we learn and socialise, how we face trauma and hardship, what is the importance of learning and social interaction and family life, how we cope with time's passing, how we deal with each other and with our own ego. It's at times a medical read, or a pshichological one, or a social one - a beautiful combination of studies to show the way we pass through life. Being a manual, it discusses different views and theories, therefore it's a great intellectual tool to start one off in a direction of study. I've enjoyed the skim!
This is an in depth look at the growth and development of the human mind and behavior. It examines and compares numerous theories like a good text should.
Es un manual de consulta. Más que libro de lectura, recomiendo tenerlo a la mano para revisar las cuestiones biológicas, emocionales y psicosociales del ser humano. Es una guía básica para personas que trabajan en el sector salud.
The book "Human Development" by Diane E. Papalia and… explores various aspects of human development from childhood to adulthood. This book analyzes the biological, social, and cultural processes that influence human growth and examines the different stages of life in detail
Initially, the authors define human development and emphasize its importance in understanding human behaviors and experiences. They highlight that development is a continuous process influenced by multiple factors, including heredity and environment
The book then addresses the various stages of life, including the prenatal period, infancy, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Each of these stages has its own characteristics and challenges, which are explained based on scientific research and clinical experiences
In the section on infancy, the authors discuss the physical and cognitive growth of infants, as well as the importance of early interactions with parents and their impact on emotional development. They also explore the role of play in learning and social growth in children
During childhood, the book examines children's social and emotional skills, emphasizing that play and interaction with others play a key role in learning new skills. This chapter also addresses challenges related to learning and behavior in school
Adolescence is a period marked by significant physical and psychological changes. The authors explore identity formation, social pressures, and challenges related to independence during this stage. They also highlight the importance of friendships and family relationships in shaping adolescent identity
In adulthood, the book is divided into two sections: young adulthood and middle adulthood. In these sections, the authors examine career choices, marital and parenting relationships, as well as challenges related to mental and physical health during these stages
The authors also touch upon aging and its associated challenges. They emphasize that aging involves not only physical changes but also psychological and social dimensions that must be considered
In conclusion, the book discusses the impact of culture and society on human development. The authors stress that understanding cultural differences can help us better comprehend how individuals grow in various contexts
The book "Human Development" is a comprehensive resource for students, researchers, and anyone seeking a better understanding of the processes of human growth and the factors influencing it. This work combines theories and scientific research to provide a complete picture of the complex journey of human life
A best way to learn human life span. From the early life all the way to the end. Papalia, Olds & Feldman (2003) inform us about physical, cognitive and psychosocial determinants contributed in human development!

Honestly, this is the best psychology book I ever read, despite the demand the course gave me, I love both the book and the course. I think Human Development is the best class I take in this semester. Fun class with great textbook, and I'm all in.
No es algo que leería por gusto, pero se ve que es un muy buen libro. Muy completo y todo es muy sencillo de comprender, sobretodo porque tiene pequeñas anotaciones de cosas claves. No sé. thumbs up mil.
this is a text book when i study psychology. there's so much that we can find if we want to know about our life.. i mean really our life step by step in physical, emotional, psychology, etc.
It´s great! It helps you to understand more about human actions and development. Also it has a lot of examples, which I don´t like it so much, but the investigations are interesting.
