It should have been the perfect heist. The crooks thought of everything—scoped out a briefcase full of bearer bonds, distracted the driver of its armored car, and used some old-fashioned firepower for gentle persuasion.
All neat and tidy except for one thing—there’s nothing in the briefcase but blank paper.
Well, they’re not going to take this lying down! They hire private investigator Lou Fleener to get their loot back.
Then Lou’s business partners—his feisty wife Cassidy and their brilliant friend Monk—get hired to find the briefcase by its original owners.
A once-in-a-lifetime piece of luck! Ethics thrown to the wind, they’re now working both sides of the case, and feeling pretty smug about it. What could be better?
A quarter million in bearer bonds is stolen. But by who & how? Lou, Monk & Cassidy are hired by three different groups to find out and get the bonds back. Mayhem, murder and complete zaniness ensue. Another highly engrossing, laugh out loud tale.
I have enjoyed this fun series up til now, but found myself constantly distracted by spelling and editing errors in the Kindle edition I read. Also, at least one continuity error. Lou is the one who meets and speaks to Bic, but later Monk (who I don't recall meeting Bic) later notes that Nora's handshake is firmer than Bic's.

The plot is great, the characters are well developed, the dialog is fun, witty, believable. I love everything about these books except the editor.
Lou's friend, Monk, is like Sherlock Holmes, and his wife, Cassidy, is like a more clever Watson. But Lou makes it all soar. I'm truly in love with Lou Fleener.
There were more grammatical and spelling errors in this book than in a first grader’s first written sentence. OMG, one after another. Whoever the publisher is should be ashamed of their sloppiness and carelessness.
It was fun trying to figure out how to solve the case. The twist at the end was a surprise, but not a contrived one. I like the characters Lou, Cassidy, and Monk. The settings seemed true to the era.
Fun, complex, excellent dialogue, wonderful characters, clever plot - I can't say enough good things about this book. It's the first one I have read in the Lou Fleener series, but I'm checking the others as soon as I press the "enter" button to post this review.
There must be 100 - 200 typos, plus inconsistent scene details. I only finished it to find all of the typos. Really sloppy. The author should get a real editor and republish the book.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
I’m not sure exactly what style the author was trying for, but, for me, he didn’t quite make it happen. Also a bit long - oh, where are the editors these days?
This is quite the story of bearer bonds being stolen. Lou, Cassidy and Monk are all trying to solve it. The funny part is, is that there are possibly many robbers. But figuring out who got the bonds is the tough part. Read and see if you can figure it out!
