Restless.

I’m tired of living alone.
Tired of nothing but the trees keeping me company.
There are reasons I live the way I do.
Reasons that I’ve chosen to stay on this mountain away from everyone and everything.

But one email is about to change it all.

I thought for sure it was spam, but I clicked on it anyway.
A secret auction house for the rich to find a wife.
My name and who I am no doubt got me on this list.

I almost hit delete until I talk myself out of it.

I can give the woman a chance to back out once she sees me.
That’s the plan anyway.
Until I see her lit up on stage and everything changes.
I won’t be letting her go… I’ll do whatever to make her want to stay.

The series where the Highest Bidder always wins.
Welcome to a one-of-a-kind Auction House where humans, shifters, and aliens bid on love.
These ultra-rich men are ready to bring home their virgin prizes.

"Auctioned to the Lumberjack" is the story of Nicole and Ethan.

Hero and heroine are madly in love, until the hero has an accident and dumps the heroine. She cannot let him abandon their love, and a year later finally takes matters into her hand..

It was OK! I found all decisions very drastic LOL.

It's no secret that I am a Hope Ford fan (I'd probably give her grocery lists five stars) but I was get a little nervous when it comes to big collaborative series like this. Sometimes it can feel like authors are rushing to shoe horn a story into their world/universe, while also joining a new one and crossing over with other authors, and then the whole thing is confusing. Not here! I liked that this book was Whiskey Run *adjacent*. It wasn't squeezed into Whiskey Run like a misshapen puzzle piece. It still has Hope's quality and comforting writing, and a fun cameo of the fan favorite, Cinnamon Blaze Cake. (also--Cinnamon Blaze? New Drag Name?)
ANYWAY! This read was different than what I expected when seeing the title and reading the description, but in a positive way. I thought it was going to be a lot rougher/darker than Hope's previous stories. So while it's a little out of her comfort zone, or more likely a bit different than her usual work, it still has the Hope Ford feel that I have come to adore. (And yes. I cried. I always do.).

This did not go the way I expected and I love that!! Nicole and Ethan are well written characters and you feel for both of them. While I think the plot was a little OTT, it's a fun book to read.

Five stars ☆☆☆☆☆

This is my favorite book in the Highest Bidder series! It was SO sweet. It's about Ethan and Nicole. They've been a couple for a while now and have plans to get married. Ethan saves a boy from a fire but in the process he's badly burned. Because of that, he pushes Nicole away.

"I just need Ethan back, and I’m willing to do whatever I have to do to make it happen.”

One year later, Nicole has a plan. Auction her virginity off! She suspects that once Ethan hears about it, he'll come and "buy" her... which of course, he DOES!

This book was so cute. I really enjoyed reading it. I don't usually like second chance romances but this one is too irresistible!

This is an entertaining, quick read. There are all kinds of themes in these pages, all wrapped up into one couple's life.
Not quite sure how this author did it, but she did.

Seriously...without spoilers, it's hard to explain how many different themes are in play here.

I was surprised to end this one feeling like I finished way more pages! There were parts that were significantly light on details, or substance, but again, for a quick read, it’s fine.

I wasn't expecting to leave the read feeling as entertained as I am, but I'm glad it worked out that way.

It was a great story that had me loving both characters. Ethan and Nikki had a great start for a relationship but when an incident happens Ethan pushes Nikki away so that she can find happiness elsewhere. Nikki who still loves Ethan, decides to join an auction for marriage so this sets things up for an even intense read when Ethan finds out.

2.5 stars.

Insta love romance, It had some decent angst that I liked, hero got into a terrible accident and pushes her away, but there was one funny ridiculous thing that I just couldn't help but laugh at is the fact that he could have had her for free yet he went and spent 20 million in the auction to get her back, it's hilarious but there is one thing, she had already been signed up to the auction no going back so he had to spend that money, regardless it was funny.

Saving her? Or destroying her?

Ethan may try to release her after his accident because he feels it would be better for her. But I love that Nikki never gives up, she loves him with her whole heart and always will...so she plays him at his own game and calls his bluff. Go girl!

The story was ok, but not really anything too special. I probably would have given it 4 stars if there wasn’t a HUGE inaccuracy about a woman’s virginity and the hymen itself. This unfortunately commonly held myth was proven wrong about 120 years ago!
Perpetuating this myth is damaging to women and used in many countries to control women’s bodies, sexuality, and in many cases leads to death from honor killings if a woman doesn’t bleed on her wedding night. FYI.. bleeding is almost completely unnecessary with proper preparation and only happens to 50% of women at most anyway)
Before writing about something, authors should do some research and educate themselves. Watch the TedTalks video about the hymen for more info.

Desperate times calls for desperate measures …

Fast reading novelette with a good pace. Part of a series by various authors, but each can be read as stand-alones. The common feature in each is the auction house. The second story in the series had different rules concerning marriage and the minister, but this one matches the first, which I appreciated.

** If you have not read the story, the following may contain spoilers. **

⛔️ Contains scenes and/or references to a few subjects that may be offensive and/or a trigger for sensitive readers. These include adult language, 🔥 and steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, etc. and physical burn scars.

I mention data inconsistencies, grammatical errors, etc. for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because issues interrupt the flow. This is the best written story I have read in a while. I only noticed one issue (an incorrect word choice) while reading the story. I uploaded my note to goodreads for anyone interested.

I understand the rationale that drove Nicole, aka Nikki, to sign up for the auction, but the rational part of my brain struggled with this parts of the plot. Like why wouldn’t the women get more of the amount bid, especially if it went above a certain dollar amount? Why have the amount go as high as it did for Nicole? Who was the other person bidding? I get the bidding being anonymous, but there should be something more behind it, otherwise it just falls flat for me.

Here is how the story begins:

Nicole and Ethan are soul mates. He made a promise that he wouldn’t get in the way of her finishing school. That is why they are getting married next week, after she graduates from her technical training. Ethan is old fashioned in some aspects, that is why they both remain untouched. He wants their first time to be after she has his ring and last name.

Then the night before the wedding, Ethan is injured in a fire while saving a young boy. He received bad burns on one side of his face and torso. He will not subject Nicole to a life of looking at his scars, or scaring their kids because he looks like a monster.

Nicole has not given up. Ethan doesn’t want to see her but she is determined, so when he finally relents, she is not worried. Then he sends her away and breaks her heart. Nicole is unable to give up, but time moves slowly when they are apart.

Ethan doesn’t want to be around people so he quits his job with his family. He starts living and lumberjacking up in the mountains in isolation. Ethan asked one of his brothers to look after Nicole, because no matter what, he just can’t seem to walk completely away and leave her totally alone.

A year has not passed and Nicole has had enough. Desperate times and all of that. So she signs up for an auction. This time next week she is going to either be with the love of her life, or she will be purchased and married to a total stranger.

Hottie lumberjack gets his girl
4 stars

I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m partial to some mountain man, insta-love, obsessive hero goodness - and Hope Ford always delivers for me.

This story doesn’t really come under the insta-love banner as our characters have been dating and in love for a couple of years at the start of the story. They’re both still virgins, however, as our hero, Ethan, wants to wait until they’re married before he takes and breeds his heroine, Nikki. But before the wedding can take place, tragedy strikes that breaks our couple apart, seemingly for good.

Ethan is exactly the kind of hero you would expect a mountain man lumberjack to be. He’s gruff, big, bulky, obsessed and absolutely all-in with Nikki - even when he’s not with her. If you like this kind of hero, you will like Ethan and, as stupid as he is, also understand his plight.

Nikki was a bit of an oddity for this type of book as she wasn’t a pushover. She pushed and pushed at Ethan, trying to give the pair a second chance as she knew they both loved each other. She didn’t give up and that was fairly admirable. She was also a sweet and likeable character - someone I was happy to root for.

There were a couple of editing mistakes which always annoy me - but it wasn’t enough for me to deduct any stars. There was also a really strange point when a secondary character mentions the auction house and says that it even caters to shifters and aliens. I wondered if I’d stumbled into a different kind of book only to realise later that this is a book in a series about said auction house, the Highest Bidder series. The other stories deal with the aliens and shifters while this book does not. And other than that, it appears each book only has the auction house in common.

The only reason I didn’t give this the full five stars is that there wasn’t nearly enough, well, angst, for me. I’m not someone who longs-for angst in their stories but in this tale there really wasn’t the push and pull of will-they, won’t they. There was no drama and no worry that things wouldn’t work out. It was still a quick and enjoyable read - Hope Ford always brings it with the sexy stories - but I wanted a wee bitty more.

*spoilers* Ethan and Nicole were in love, high school sweethearts. She was 20 and he 22 and they were about to get married, he made a promise to her father to take care of her and that is what he did, one point not making love to her until the wedding. Also they are different, Ethan knows his Nikki is the one for him, considering her in every decision and creating a life together. He joined his family busines, the biggest real estate development company on the East coast. Then the day before the wedding Ethan rescues a child out of a fire, getting severely burned and injured. Nicole loves him for who he is not because of his wealthy family and she does not care about his appearance, but he thinks otherwise and pushes her away. She is not giving up easily and he knows he has to hurt her to push her out of his life. He thinks he is protecting her that way and she would resent him otherwise over time. One year later Nicole still is a shell of the woman she used to be, also trying to move on. She signs the paper for the Breeding Bidders Auction House, her virginity will be auctioned and she has to marry the man on the spot. Ethan has become a recluse in the mountains and a lumberjack. Still not responding to Nicole and not seeing her. His brother Bobby, who was on Nicoles side all along, tries to get him to the auction. How will he react seeing her there about to get married to another man, if he is not stepping in?
When reading how Ethan made Nikki leave and hurt her in the hospital it made me cry. Two people who love each other so deeply, soulmates, are ripped apart, because Ethan thinks he is protecting her. One year later their hearts are still broken, probably it would be the same 50 years later. Nikki is such a strong woman and has so much love for Ethan, not giving up on them. Another loving couple in Whiskey Run. When they finally get together again, Ethan is so protective and knows what an amazing woman he has. I am already looking forward to Lila’s story. Always looking forward to Hope Ford's stories. I love her characters and style-.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.

Ethan and Nikki are madly in love and one day away from their wedding when tragedy strikes. Ethan is badly burned while saving a young boy at his family’s job site. In a bid to save Nikki from being tied to a disfigured man he tells her he wants her gone. She reluctantly leaves and for the next year tries to find ways to get back together with him. As a last ditch attempt she signs up for a virgin auction and asks Ethan’s brother to get him there so he can bid on her.
$20 million later he has won his virgin. She insists they get married before leaving the remote auction site. Back at his secluded cabin where he has been living they have a few awkward moments until again Nikki goes to his office and sees all the pictures he has of her framed and all over the room. She takes charge and tells him she loves him and his scars don’t matter to her. He gives in to his need for her and they have their first time, dual virgins. Lots of I love yous. They don’t talk about what happens after Nikki’s week off from work. His brother flies the family helicopter to come get her so she can return to Whiskey Run for work.
Ethan realizes that his brother has been helping her for a year when he should have been stepping up. He decides he’s going to be the man she needs when he chastises her for not telling him she had a flat on her fist day back to work. She tells him he pushed her away, she has been the only one fighting for them for a whole year, it’s now his turn to prove he wants her.
He flies off the mountain and asks his dad for his job back and goes to the hospital where Nikki works and tells her his home is where she is and he loves her.
Epilogue six months later with her pregnant And him still proving that he loves her.

This is part of the Highest Bidder series each can be read as a standalone within an hour or so, this one has a lumberjack and the girl that steals his heart during auction. Sometimes fate gives us a second chance Ethan and Nichole where high school sweethearts, loved one another, promised to love one another, and engaged however, the day before the wedding Ethan was in a fire while saving child getting burned pretty badly and feeling that Nicole deserved someone better than him. However, Nicole loved the man for who he was the burns didn’t bother her because her love outweighed it all but all he continues to do is push her away and in doing so breaking his heart along with her heart because each time he hurts her it hurts him but feeling the need to do so because he isn’t himself any longer and isn’t sure how to be him. But by pushing her away he forced her to become someone other than herself she is no longer the women he once knew you see without each other they each become of shell of who they once were. So, his brother gets him to the Breeding Bidders Auction House where Nicole has put herself up for auction well her virginity plus marry the man who wins the bid will he finely pull his head out of his *** to see what’s right in front of him or will he allow her to be auctioned, will he allow another man to marry the women that owns his heart, can she allow herself to be auctioned to one man when her heart belongs to another and can these two finally find some type of peace and happiness because they deserve it?.

I love a good second chance romance and this one hit the spot. I loved how you could feel the characters connection straight away and then I think the tragic part was written really well and I can say I wasn't expecting it but this book really did it well. I liked that it was dealt with amazingly but also that it wasn't dwelled upon and that we got to come back to them a year afterwards, which is where the real story started. The female character was great. She knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid to put herself out there to get it and it turn I loved that you still got to see them return to how they felt in the beginning and how even though it had been a year they still knew deep down they were meant for each other, with the male finally being brave enough to go after what was his. The auction aspect just gave it that extra hotness but I liked that it didn't just end after the auction finished... I liked that there was still this unresolved tension between the main characters as it had been a year and they were kind of unsure around each other, due to how much they cared for each other and worried for each other. I liked the ending where the male finally decided enough was enough and that he was going to be there for her no matter what (due to some jealousy over his family) and that he went back and took hold of the life he had been hiding from and went after his girl. The female was great throughout, she wanted him no matter what and she never held anything against him and even at the end when he turns up she shows her love and devotion by how proud she is to introduce him as her husband. This is now one of my favourite second chance romances.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 Stars rounded up for Goodreads and Amazon.
🌶️/5 Spice

This is book three in the Highest Bidder Series. There is three contributing authors: Michele Mills, Olivia T Turner, and Hope Ford. Each one of them has published three books each for this series (so far). They are all standalone novellas revolving around the same auction house. The author of this book is Hope Ford.

This story follows Ethan, and Nicole. At the start of the book we learn that they have been dating for a few years and are impatiently waiting for their upcoming wedding. The day before the wedding a freak accident lands Ethan in the hospital with sever burns. Nicole wants nothing more than to be there for him but he pushed her away and ends their relationship. A year later Nicole is still miserable and she’s come up with an outlandish last attempt to make Ethan see reason. Will her plan work? Will they get their happy ending?

I don’t normally like second chance romances, it’s just not a trope that typically appeals to me. However I did enjoy this one. After I read the first book in this series I decided to go into the rest of the books blind. I’m so glad I did because if I hadn’t then I probably wouldn’t have read this one. It was well written and had a nice flow to it. I feel like it would’ve made a great full length novel. I rated it a three and a half stars because it just felt like something was missing for me. Overall it was a good read.

This book is available on Amazon in ebook (KU) or print. At 77 pages it’s a nice quick read.

Ethan and Nikki were high school sweethearts. Nikki's dad asked Ethan to wait for Nikki to graduate before getting intimate. Ethan was keeping his promise even when it was super hard. Nikki just wanted to be with the man she loves. Nikki graduated from radiology school and their wedding was planned a few days later. Then Ethan rushes into a burning building to rescue a kid and gets badly burned. Now he feels like less of a man with his injuries and future scars. He doesn't want Nikki to be tied down to him because he no longer feels worthy so he drives her away with his words. When he is healed, he lives in a cabin alone in the woods and works as a lumberjack. He can't forget Nikki though.

Nikki never cared about Ethan's new scars and she never really notices him. He is just the man she loves. She has been waiting for him to come to his senses and come after her but it seems like he is too stubborn. She is so broken hearted and desperate, she risks everything to get Ethan. She agrees to participate in Breeding house auction. The man who wins the auction will take her v-card and probably demand that she marry him. Nikki hopes that if Ethan sees her up on stage for the auction, his feelings would demand that he win her. Then they can live happily ever after. Otherwise her new husband will force her to get over her feelings for Ethan and help her move on.

Their future may be changed in an instance, but she is going to prove they are still soulmates

Auctioned to the Lumberjack by Hope Ford is part of the multi-author Highest Bidder series. I was not quite sure where this story was going at the beginning but it turned into a great read. The story is about Nicole Watson and Ethan Cannon. They were been high school sweethearts who are going to be married in one week, just after Nicole graduates from the local community college. But on the eve of their wedding there is a fire that badly injures Ethan. These two are soulmates who had their entire futures planned out together. But Ethan knows that he has to push Nicole away so that she can have a future without him, as he will be badly scarred. What he was not expecting was just how much Nicole did not care what he looked like and what lengths she was willing to go to prove it. So a year later finds her signing a contract to auction off her virginity and to be married to the highest bidder. She if hoping this plan will force Ethan to come down off the mountain he has retreated to, and claim her once and for all. Everyone may think it is a crazy plan but lets just hope it works out in the end.
I thought this was a quirky and inventive story with very likeable characters. There is a nice mix of drama, love, family, friends, suspense, and of course a lot of smexy hot passion. I liked this book a lot.

This book was about two people that fell in love that got pulled apart by tragedy and needed to find there way back to each other. Ethan and Nikki have always been school sweethearts and where about to be married when a tragic accident changed there lives for ever when Ethan who has mental and physical scars has him run for the woods calling everything off and leaving a broken hearted Nikki behind. And now one year later Nikki has decided to auction off her virginity hoping to win Ethan back and so he is sent an invitation to the secret auction. Ethan is lonely and has been missing Nikki terribly but he hopes she has moved on when he gets a invitation to a secret auction for virgin’s and when he see Nikki’s name on it he races to save her from selling it off and then walking away but when he see and how beautiful she is he knows he won’t let her go and will kill anyone who try’s to buy her. How does it all turn out for these two star crossed lovers, do they get there HEA or does old wounds pull the apart.

This was a great and emotional second chance romance. I love how this multi-author series focussed around a virgin auction but each brought their own unique flavour to how that would unfold. In this book, an accident made for a rejection of Ethan's high school sweetheart and fiancée, Nicole. She was devasted by this but very stubborn to not let go of him...of them. The auction was Nikki's last chance to break through to Ethan and thank goodness he had a fantastic bank balance ;P With communications finally open between them, again, an HEA is in sight. I loved her courage and determination to find an unconventional method to get through to him and his courage to face the changes in his life and find his self worth again. It was heartbreaking and also heartwarming and since this was the first book I've read by this author, you can be sure I'll be checking out more of her work :D Well done!

I’m kind of disappointed we got zero content about shifters, aliens, monsters when the synopsis made it sound like that was the driving factor for the novella. They were barely mentioned in passing and there was some vague growling during the auction but nothing came of it or was elaborated on. We never see or meet any, there is no explanation as to how they’re out in the world coexisting or any sort of backstory.

I guess it was an okay story about two people in love and obsessed with virginity (and “breeding”, but again not in a PNR way), but it wasn’t really my thing. Ethan was an absolute dumbass for the way he acted & because the pacing was kinda off we only get like 20% of the novella with them together.

Idk. It was okay writing. It just wasn’t really a satisfying read for me, maybe if you have a virginity taking kink or are into breeding without paranormal context it would be more satisfying. 🤷‍♀️

Ethan and Nikki are engaged and cannot wait to get married. However, a tragic accident just before the wedding leaves Ethan scarred and he pushes Nikki away thinking she deserves more than him, someone who would scare even his own children.
Nikki doesn't care what Ethan looks like after his accident, she loves him and wants to be with him. A year after the accident, she decides to to make one last attempt to get Ethan back in her life. She informs her brother that she will be entering herself into a virgin auction and will be marrying whoever wins her. If he wants to make sure she doesn't go off with someone else, he had better come to the auction to bid on her. Will Ethan realise his mistake before its too late and he looses the love of his life for good.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.

After being scarred in a horrible accident Ethan breaks up with Nikki just before their wedding. No matter what Nikki does Ethan refuses to see her or talk to her so a year later Nikki finally decides to sell herself at an auction. She will sell her virginity and her life to be married to whoever purchases her. When Ethan finds out he knows he can not let her go through with this so he ends up purchasing her. They marry and finally Nikki gets her happy ever after. Ethan finally realizes that he was a dick to her, that if she were scarred he would still love her so why did he think she couldn't love him. I liked this, a man finally realizes he is the idiot but comes through in the end. I love Hope Fords books, they are always good reads, steamy and make good sense. Loved this lumberjack story.
