Bound by duty, Mia Casteel is nothing but a job. A sinfully gorgeous, downright infuriating job.
One year ago, I got saddled with keeping her safe, virginal, and out of her father’s business. Little did I know, the spitfire would become my newest obsession.
Pretending I don’t want her is easy enough. Ignoring her advances is hard but not impossible.
At every corner, she pushes me, crawls under my skin, and makes my icy cold heart beat again. She makes me want her so badly I’m almost bursting to possess her.
Knowing the secrets her father is keeping from her, and the fate that will bestow her sooner or later leads me down a path that neither of us will come back from.
Caught between duty and desire, which will I choose? I promised her father I’d keep her safe, and she is safe… safe from everyone except me.

Style: Mafia Romance (Age Gap) Story: 3/5 Enjoyment: 2/5 Dark level: 0/5 Sexual Level: GOOD Triggers: No Violence: Yes Male: Sexy & Protective Series: N/A Pages: 305 Audio: No Price: $4.99/KU
STORY: What I Like: I love the concept of bodyguarding. There is an age difference, although we never get an age for Zeke we know he's older than Mia as she now enters university. I like that in the beginning, Zeke has a stern and stoic attitude towards Mia trying to mask his attraction. He eventually becomes undone, thus starting their crazy affair. Mia, however young she may be, has always been drawn to Zeke. His first rejection gave her a love hate roller coaster of emotions around him, hence, their steamy affair once it blows up. The thought of messing around and daddy can't know, gave the book some appeal of excitement.
What Is So So: I found the majority of the book just ok. It had one tempo for me in regards to my excitement. It didn't accumulate as much. Some of my so so was also mainly on my part. When there is an age gap concept and the heroine is in her teens it can quickly be off putting when done a certain way that does not line up with my personal preference. When there is a child like mentality mixed with a grown and sexy mentally it can be hit or miss for me. Of course, once the sex starts that child like characteristic shifts, however, leading up to it, that’s my issue. The mafia concept is not as strong, it’s mainly about Zeke and Mia. This is ok for me, but if you want hardcore mafia, no.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY: Their sex scenes became spicy as they got more into it. Mia’s sexual build up felt ok. Zeke’s sexual build up is what fuel me.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS: The secondary characters were ok. No one really excites me as much. Mia’s friends that she met Posey and Erica, I did not feel myself hoping they would have their own books.
OVERALL: Was I entertained? Sometimes Did I like the story? Yes If a series, would I read/continue with the other books in the series,? Not sure
TRIGGERS: No
NOTES: Virgin heroine, no ow/om cheating just jealousy drama.
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
Her Mafia Bodyguard was fast paced Mafia story with Mia a young girl who discovers a father she never knew and is assigned a tough bad boy bodyguard named Zeke. These two walk a fine line between love and hate until the love part of the equation triumphs over all else. Zeke is bound and determined to protect Mia at all costs but can he protect himself against his own heart? This story was artfully written with lots of interesting characters and thrilling scenes! It’s a must read for sure!
Mia lived with her single mom for seventeen years of her life. But when her mom died, she met her dad and went to live with him. He's rich, but she doesn't know about the unsavory parts of his business. She does know that she has a guard on her 24/7. And she might have a bit of a crush on her bodyguard, Zeke.
When she is sent off to start college, Zeke goes with her. And while they are trying to fight their feelings for each other, Zeke is aware of the plans her father has for Mia. Plans to marry her off to the highest bidder.
Is there any hope of them being together? Or is it all a waiting game for her to be married off to someone else.
Meh. I wasn't a big fan of this. I'm not super surprised since I have not really liked anything I've read by this author (J.L. Beck). But I had already bought it before I realized that, and I do like bodyguard romances. So I thought I'd give it a shot.
The story line isn't bad. I like the idea of Mia and her hot bodyguard Zeke wanting each other and it's forbidden because of her status and the fact that her father wants her to stay pure for her arranged marriage. The twist with Dean being a bitter result of one of Zeke's past hits was interesting too.
But the problem is that the story dragged on -- the pacing was too slow -- and the characters (especially Mia) weren't particularly likable.
Let's first talk about Mia. For someone who adamantly claims to be SO smart, Mia is really fucking stupid and naive. How can she not put two-and-two together about what her dad does? She never questions his "business" and what he does. She just accepts everything at face value and doesn't question anything. She's so dumb.
She also has absolutely no intuition about people. She just trusts everyone blindly without trying to feel out if they are skeezy or not. Dean was always weird and suss and she just got through saying she wouldn't care if she didn't see him again, then two seconds later she calls him to pick her up! Why didn't she call one of her normal friends to pick her up instead? Or an Uber! This was just stupid.
And let's talk about her "friends". The fact that her friends are constantly worrying about Zeke abusing her makes no sense. He has given absolutely no indication that he hurts her, but they are quick to come to that conclusion on their own. And when she tells them that's not true, they just reply that that's what someone who is being abused would say! Gah! There's no convincing them! How awkward and annoying.
Zeke was okay. I don't have much about him I didn't like. But I feel pretty neutral to him overall.
The sex was pretty hot when we finally got to it. But it took a little too long to get there for my preferences.
The ending wasn't very believable. Why would her father agree to Mia being "the face of his brand" so he can clean up his image when...he's a mafia don! This is absurd. He wouldn't care about that and I don't find it believable in the least that he would've had bowed to her wishes.
Overall it was just meh. Not great and not awful either. I can't say I'd recommend it, especially because it's not free on KU.

Mia did not know her father until her mother passed away a few years ago. Zeke got assigned to her as her bodyguard. And Mia has been crushing on him. But Zeke does not want anything with her and shuts it down. Or does he? And what happens when she gets sent away to study at a college and he has to live with her?
----- SPARKS FLY!
The characters were very interesting and well written. Zeke takes some getting used to but if you see it from his POV, you understand more why does things a certain way and how he actually feels.
Mia is a strong FMC and is not just a mafia princess. And I just loved her. She has no idea that her father is part of the mafia. Mia and her mother got by with barely any money and suddenly she is surrounded by wealth. And I liked how she never forgot where she came from.
And when Mia took her power and Zeke just had no other option than to just let himself fall, ughh yes that was so good. Their back and forth was so good to read about. Do not get me wrong. Zeke is very controlling but he has to be. It is his job, even if he takes it to the extreme.
The story was fast paced but did not skip anything. I loved that there was more than just a bodyguard romance and that plot twist made the story even more interesting.
I really liked the premise and I loved Zeke. I enjoyed the angst and the push and pull from the characters. The spice was 🔥 . The chemistry between the MCs was amazing and it was so good when they stopped denying each other and the truth.
There were however some moments where I wanted this book to be a bit shorter but that was mainly in the middle. Once the story picks up with the side plot I was reading non-stop - that plot twist was really out of the blue (in a good way). You knew the protagonist was going to be this specific person but you weren't sure of the real reason so I enjoyed the reveal - and once you find out you get to see the small moments throughout the book in a new light.
Below you will find the full safety warnings concerning this book (it's in spoilers (without actual spoilers) just in case):
Mia is a street-smart and stubborn girl, who has had to fight for everything in her life. That is until she finds her Dad! Mia has been whisked away from her poor life, to a life with luxury and wealth. So why isn't she happy?
I liked that Mia was not easily deceived and could spot people's intentions, a mile away. Mia has a crush on her bodyguard, Zeke, and will do anything to get him! Mia tries to get his attention but is rejected so now she just wants to forget all about him... She can never leave Zeke cause now he is guarding her in college. There is nowhere to escape.
Zeke is very protective and serious about protecting Mia. He is attracted to Mia but has to fight her attraction to her cause he promised her Dad.
Now both of them a stuck in the same house, and have constantly around each other. Mia is going to break Zeke and Zeke will have to fight his attraction to her even harder.
DNF 52% i tried really hard to like this and enjoy it but unfortunately i couldn't force my self to continue it. I disliked both of them to be honest, most likely her. I hated their bickering ,their fights, her being bratty . I got bored with this plot too. I'm at a point where i don't care about them or the story. I rather stop here than give it a low rating.
Who's safe? I had a hard time with this book because small things kept taking me out of the zone. I'm fine with the whole bodyguard/client line, whether it's resisting a crush or developing something, I generally like them. There's usually an age gap but it isn't that big of a deal. But this one really creeped me out. It never says how much of a gap there is but it's at least 8 years as inferred by other text. Not that bad as adults but she was in high school when this began! (Their fantasies, not the sex) It was skeevy and I couldn't get it out of my head. *grossed out full body shiver* The next is his name: Zeke. It doesn't sound like a mafia hand, it sounds like a farm hand. (like in the Wizard of Oz...) Every time his name was said, that was what popped into my head. I had tons of questions about Mia and her father. She never knew who he was and he wasn't around for the first 17 years of her life. Yet when her mother died he came to get her. The whole thing was weird but I put it aside. She also had no idea he was a head of a mafia family. When they finally (spoiler/not spoiler) have sex they have tons of it. A lot. I don't think a single chapter went by without a sex scene. They obviously had major chemistry but I wasn't sure he was all in with his feelings for Mia, at least not like she was. Even with all these little things that irked me, I still read the whole book, it wasn't worth quitting, so that says something. It was engaging enough but overall it was just okay for me.
(I received a complimentary copy of this book from Hidden Gems)
It’s not even truly a mafia book because its main setting is in some random preppy college where Zeke follows Mia around as her bodyguard while he sulks and she whines.
Also the age gap makes me uncomfy. She’s 18!!!!! And he’s what? 30? No, thank you.
DNF - whatever page % (I’m not even interested in checking it out. I randomly decided that nope, not doing this anymore)
This wasnt my fave book of this author’s… but part of that may have been because I listened to the audible format and the male authors voice was… really awful. His “female” voice was so grating and irritating and his inflections drove me nuts.
That being said, the book was enough to hold my attention… but im glad that Ive read almost all this authors other books and i know how amazing of a writer she is. I dont think the book was BAD persay, it just didnt have the level of angst and OTT/JP-ness that Ive come to expect from JL Beck and C. Hallman.
Like i said, I know how amazing they are so this certainly shouldnt be a deterrent for anyone reading this. Read their other books. Especially Corium University. Its so fucking good. If you read this and wasnt a fan, dont let it color your opinion of the authors works in general. Theyre so amazing. This book just didnt do it for me, personally.
Oh man y’all 🥵🔥 It took me a minute to get into this because I wasn’t a fan of the MCs and how they treated each other (which they did to hide their feelings, especially after Mia was humiliated and rejected by Zeke, but for good reason). BUT I’m so freaking glad I did, because it was stupid hot how they couldn’t help themselves but be with each other. ALSO, I was surprised by how torn I was with the villain, as I totally sympathized with him (up until he hurt Mia), because I’m sure I’d have become just as unhinged. It made for a great story. 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
Very disappointed in this book. Both author were my favorite but this book was a let down for me unfortunately. I felt bored while reading it. If the title didn't mentioned Mafia I would never know that they were mafia family. I mean there's no enemy during he being her bodyguard. How could Mia's father knew about her. She didn't knew about him in her 17 years and I really dislike Mia's character. She felt like a brat and stubborn girl. There's no tension in it and very disappointed at the plot resolve too quickly at the end.
Thank you Candi Kane PR for the arc copy in exchange of honest review!
We first meet Mia and her bodyguard Zeke as Blair’s best friend in the Jock, a book in the North Woods University series.
Zeke and Mia both want each other but know any chance of them being together would never work. When Mia’s father tells her she’s going to college, she’s excited until he tells her that Zeke will be going with her and is expected to follow her everywhere she goes. This was a fun book. The mutual pining and tension was great. If they can’t have each other, making the other miserable is the next best thing.
✨ bodyguard romance ✨ age gap ✨ forced proximity ✨ mutual pining ✨ forbidden romance ✨ dual pov
3.5 stars rounded up to 4 Mia is the daughter of a Mafia boss who recently entered her life after her mother passed away. She's been given Zeke as a bodyguard since dear old dad does a lot of questionable dealings and wants to protect his little girl and her virginity (weird). Of course, Zeke is hot and younger and we see Mia literally throw herself at him by stripping naked by the family pool after a party. But Zeke knows the stakes if he were ever to cross that line with her, so he brushes her off in the most humiliating way possible, by telling her to get dressed and have some respect for herself. After this, their relationship is strained to say the least. So now Mia is off to college. Her dad chose her college, he chose her apartment, he chose her furniture, and he chose her classes. This poor girl gets absolutely minimal control over her own life, and she's bound and determined to make that Zeke's problem too by lashing out and acting like a spoiled baby. Real mature there, Mia. Due to their close proximity, Zeke's repressed desire, and Mia's bratty behavior, things go a little too far one night and Zeke throws Mia over his lap and proceeds to spank her for her insubordination. And of course this virginal prude finds that she rather enjoys this version of "punishment." Unfortunately, it has the same effect on Zeke, a little too much. But the spanking "sexual tension icebreaker" leads to the two of them just jumping in both feet first. Here's where I get a little disappointed. With how big of a deal they make about Mia's "intactness" and the consequences if Zeke allows her to become deflowered, they sure go straight to sex with minimal consideration. That could've been played up a bit more between the characters. Anyway, there's this tool in one of Mia's classes that weasels his way into a group project with her and two other girls. I don't remember his name because he was super weird and annoying and I think I suppressed his existence, so he'll be referred to as Creepy Classmate from this point forward. This dude CONSTANTLY wants to fight Zeke and no one calls him on his obsession with Zeke AND Mia. He just keeps mean mugging Zeke and being way too touchy feely and pushy with all aspects of Mia's life until she finally has to tell him she chooses Zeke after they try to fight at a restaurant. He seems to take the hint and disappears. Meanwhile, Mia's dad is busy finding her the best husband, and by best I mean most profitable for the family business. When she comes home for Christmas break, she's meant to meet her fiance at a dinner between their families, only she's already freaking out when she learns why Papa Bear does for a living care of an email from Creepy Classmate. So the news of her getting a husband against her will goes over like a ton of bricks. She's decided she's had enough and she dips. She messages Creepy Classmate to come pick her up and he's all too happy to oblige. He scoops her up and then, FINALLY, she starts asking pertinent questions, like how did Creepy Classmate know her dad's last name when they don't share names? Or why was he so obsessed with Zeke? Ya know, first date kind of questions. It's here that we learn Creepy Classmate has a history with Zeke, as in he witnessed Zeke murder his dad when he was 10 years old and now he's put for revenge. He's gonna kidnap Mia and has it in his head he'll somehow kill a hired gun for a Mafia boss... He's as dumb as he is creepy. Zeke comes in to save the day and Creepy Classmate is introduced to the concrete under Mia's balcony at a high rate of velocity. Thanks physics! 🤙🏻 Mia and Zeke head back home and proceed to tell Mia's dad that they're gonna be together and it would be in his best interest to just accept that rather than push the subject. We close with Mia back at school for the spring, Zeke right beside her, only now they're openly together. Fin. I enjoyed this book. The pacing was decent, though it did drag a little at points. Most of the interactions and conversations were realistic, even though some of Mia's friends needed to ease up on believing Zeke was abusing her. That was such a weird hill for all of them to die on. The spice was decent. Not too much, not too little. The chemistry between Mia and Zeke could've been better, but it wasn't bad. Overall, I enjoyed Zeke's development as he learned about Mia and how independent she was, despite falling into the rich kid persona flawlessly. I enjoyed Mia's ability to differentiate between being financially comfortable and being wasteful, as well as outsmarting her father. If I remember this book, I'll be happy to recommend it to folks who enjoy a good enemies to lovers, forced proximity, forbidden romance.

Living a simple life until her mother died - her mysteriously billionaire father scooped her up. Now, Mia's living a sheltered life as a shaded princess with a bodyguard convinced hates her guts.
"I don't know what Zeke's problem is. Most of the time, I'm pretty sure it's me; that he resents having to tag along everywhere I go. I can't even sit in my own backyard without him nearby. As much as it sucks for me, it must be ten times worse for him."
Little does Mia realize she occupies Zeke's mind every minute of every day.
But, of course, being the boss's daughter, he can't act on impulse. What's even worse is - he knows his boss's horrible plan to keep his precious daughter Mia "pure" and auction her off to the highest bidder for marital bliss.
Zeke tries to distance himself from the object of his darkest fantasies to no avail. But then, he is ordered to move to college with her. Initially, flames ignite. Mia hates him because she feels like a prisoner. But then sparks fly.
Ugh….I need a moment to collect myself and my thoughts and wipe some drool from my mouth. I do not know what it is about the combination of sexy and lethal that gets my gears turning.
*clears throat*
Zeke's character was an absolute masterpiece. I am so glad the author was able to do him justice. With a firm name like Zeke, I would have been EXTREMELY disappointed if his character fell flat. He was seductive and possessive. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that he had great intuition from the start. He knew what he wanted and went after it; obstacles be damned.
Compared to other "mafia" romances I have read, this one was very different. The story is almost entirely on a college campus and centered on the characters' attraction to one another. Although we know what Mia's father is, much of it goes on behind the scenes.
The ending was very satisfying for me. However, I wasn't sure how the author would wrap it up. Plus, obviously, there needed to be a happily ever after with everything they went through. There are a few darker topics here, but I would say this wasn't the darkest mafia romance I've read. I would totally recommend this for the avid romance reader.

Mia grew up with a single mother but is soon taken in by her mafia father, who hadn’t known of Mia before her mother’s death. Mia has a body guard named Zeke, and the two of them have undeniable chemistry which they each cannot act on. Mia is going off to college though, so their buttons will definitely be pushed.
I liked Mia’s character. She has grown up to be self-sufficient and despite the sudden wealth she has through her father, she is still someone who wants to maintain independence and resiliency. She has goals, takes her education seriously, and shows she isn’t someone to be messed with. She also knows how to get under Zeke’s skin. Zeke himself has a dark past, having to defend his employer and take out threats. However, he proves he is fiercely protective of Mia, maybe even a little too much, but he also finds himself in a tough situation with his attraction to her and also respecting his employment. He does show he cares about her though if there’s one thing he could improve on, it’s not keeping her in the dark when it concerns her life trajectory. He is also sarcastic and the two of them have witty banter.
Moreover, the author did well creating the angst between these two characters, as the factors they had to consider and risks they took were believable in their relationship and you really did root for this couple to be able to be together but couldn’t help wonder about the consequences and how it would affect them. This story was definitely more character driven and the plot twists definitely took me by surprise! While you could figure out who might be the main antagonist, their motivation was unpredictable.
For any JL Beck & C Hallman fans, this is a lighter read than some of their other books, but still packs a punch and I really liked our main couple. They might be my favorite!
Mia and Zeke's story is a dark mafia bodyguard age gap romance. The story has a good pacing, the story is good, yet I felt that it was a bit overdone, the characters are good, I liked Zeke, his past and way he had to interact with Mia was interesting. Overall I enjoyed it but felt a bit flat for me from this authors I love to read. The angst and darkness in their stories is what I love, and so I will look forward to the next one.
“It was one thing to protect her when only my job was at stake. Now? I’m afraid my heart might be in on it, too.”
This was yet another fantastic, spicy mafia story from Beck & Hallman and I’m certainly becoming addicted to their work. I loved all the tropes we got here–virgin FMC, taboo/forbidden love, age gap, and if you couldn’t guess by bodyguard…touch her and die. We got a slow build up with a sprinkle of spice thrown in and the angst, longing, and moments of comedic relief really kept me going.
I really loved Zeke. He’s dark, broody, and hard on the exterior while fighting between his feelings/desires for Mia and his obligation/the potential consequences he would face should he betray her father’s trust. Zeke had a perpetual fuck off face working for him when facing the outside world and I really enjoyed watching Mia make him come undone…from the smirks he tried to hold in to the lust he could not put out, she had him from page one and when they finally came together, it was hot as hell.
Overall, Mia was likable enough for me, but I do wish she wasn’t quite so naive and impulsive. She did come around toward the end, though, and we got to see her essentially save herself, along with Zeke, on two separate occasions which really did warm my heart to her.
The overall plot kept me hooked throughout and while I did have some suspicions of who the villain was relatively early on, I had no idea what their motivations were or how it would all play out. I enjoyed the epilogue and seeing Mia gain some freedom along with a sense of normalcy but I did still crave a little flash forward where we got to see Mia and Zeke down the road a ways. Overall, though, I really enjoyed this one and would highly recommend.
Audiobook 10hrs review: For seventeen years, Mia grew up with only her mother, who struggled to make ends meet. After her mother’s death, Mia found herself alone until her father, a man she had never known, suddenly appeared in her life. This new reality opened up a world of privilege for her—one filled with unimaginable wealth, a bodyguard, and significant power. However, with this new life came strict rules; her father controlled everything she did, wore, and experienced. He even chose her college, her courses, and, notably, her living situation, which turned out to be with her bodyguard, Zeke.
Mia quickly realized that she couldn’t go anywhere without Zeke by her side, except in the bathroom or her own room. Their relationship was complicated; they exhibited a push-pull dynamic rife with love and hatred, pretending to despise each other while secretly feeling attracted to one another.
Zeke carried his own burdens and had a dark past, which complicated his role as her protector. He struggled to balance following her father Bruno Morelli's orders concerning Mia's safety while empathizing with her desire for a normal college life.
The authors struck the perfect balance of angst, drama, and unexpected twists for Zeke and Mia to navigate as they pursue the risks of their forbidden romance.
Mia knew how to push Zeke's buttons, leading to friction between them. Despite the potential consequences they faced if they got caught, they found it increasingly difficult to resist their feelings and desires for each other.
Her Mafia Bodyguard by J.L. Beck & C. Hallman reads as a standalone, featuring Mia, a girl living an arduous and difficult life with her mother, for seventeen years, that becomes a Mafia Princess when the father she never heard from shows up after her mother's death. In a 360°, her life changes for one of wealth and privilege as well as tight watch and control. In goes Zeke, the designed bodyguard and her security detail.
I liked Mia' spirit and street smarts, a girl that learned to watch, hear and keep for heself, her defiance and attitude in a push and pull dynamic with Zeke, where they seemingly disliked each other, while secretly being infatuated and crushing on one another. Zeke is a loyal employee, a man with a past and own demons that struggled to fufill his boss orders at the same time he tried to accomodate Mia's needs, nature and the semblance of normal she lost when she came live with Bruno Morelli.
Pushing buttons and getting under the other' skin will turn to so much more.....feelings will grow, both will give in to their passion and connection in a forbidden affair, nsfw or their lives.
The narrative flows steady and direct, with secret agendas as a crucial plot twist and unexpected motivations that will definitively surprise the reader and give a mysterious touch to an angsty and character driven plot.
Her Mafia Bodyguard by J. L. Beck & C. Hallman. This duo authors collaborate again to bring this beautiful story with Mia and Zeke. It's beautifully written with extraordinary characters and great storyline. A bodyguard trope, touch her you die, taboo, an age gap trope, forbidden romance and close proximity. Mia was living with her mom in poverty. But when her mother died her dad soup in to takeover. Her life changed after she went to live with him, she thought he coming to help but he had his own plans. Mia didn't know that her dad was rich or that he was Don. She was now a mafia princess and was going to be marry off like all daughters. Zeke is assigned to her guard with his life. When she goes off to college he goes with her to protect her from her father's life. The two has feelings for each other but Zeke is afraid of the repercussion. Mia keep on pushing Zeke to act on his feelings until he breaks little did they know trouble lurks outside. It was a push and pull. The more time that they spend together tension and chemistry intensify until they reach a breaking point. It was raunchy, filthy, and smutty. There were so much things going on in this story action, suspense, drama, banter, angst, kinks, twists and turns, arranged marriage, alliance, passion mystery, anger, loss, and love.
I received an advanced copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Mia lost her mother and has gone to live with her father whom she has never met before. Zeke is her bodyguard. When her father sends her to college, Zeke goes with her as her bodyguard and roommate. Only they cannot get along. This is such a weird book. I cannot quite mesh the opposing opinions in this book. Her father has extremely old fashion ideas like she cannot have her own money. She needs to maintain her “purity”. Her bodyguard is not only supposed to protect her purity but also to protect her life. He belatedly realizes he should have had her taking cooking classes because her husband will want her to be able to cook well. He also wants her to be able to direct servants. It is actually so scummy and icky. Which is why it is so completely bizarre that Mia’s dad wants Zeke to live with Mia. Weird! It is also so obvious that Mia’s physiology class is studying the rise of crime families. Yup how obvious is that? Of course Mia will eventually find out about her father’s job. Dean is also completely obvious. He makes friends with Mia purposely and is obviously crime related. This was only an ok book for me. There was just something kind of awkward and stilted in the dialogue and the writing. I just couldn’t get over how strange some of the talking was. The descriptions were honestly not much better.
Mia Casteel has lived such an intriguing life, first she lived with her single mom, then once she passed her father came in and brought her to his house and things did a 180 for her. Her father's wealth knows no bounds and neither does his reach. When she finally goes off to college she thinks things are going to get better, she will get more freedom. Little does she know that's definitely not the case. So what happens when the bodyguard you have been fawning after, who is just as attracted to you, is forced to share an apartment with you?
Things get heated to say the least and Zeke's willpower is only so strong. I enjoyed the intense heat between these two, it was clear they had chemistry the question was how strong can Zeke be. He knew the risks, but is the reward worth the consequences?
When things took a turn I was slightly shocked. I probably should have seen it coming but did not see the twist that came with it. It was an enjoyable experience. I can't wait to read more from these authors. I have loved their work thus far.
Her Mafia Bodyguard tells the story of Mia, who has only known and been living with her father for two years following her mother’s death, and Zeke an enforcer turned bodyguard assigned by her father to protect her virtue as he intends to marry her off to another Mafia family in order to form an alliance - Mia is unaware of this. Mia has had a crush on Zeke for many months but Zeke shuts her down when she tries to seduce him on her 18th birthday. However, Zeke is fighting so hard to keep his hands off her as he knows if he touches her, it will mean certain death. Oh, the dilemma!!
What an absolutely fabulous story of will they, won’t they. This pair of authors are marvellous together and I enjoy their work immensely. The book is really well written, the storyline is pretty fast paced and intriguing, I found it hard to put the book down and just flew through the pages. A highly recommended 5 star read.

Mia only finds out who her father is and alive after her mother passing. He has money she thinks everything will be better since her mother and her struggles and she doesn’t really realize her father has not so great fatherly intentions for her. Zeke is her 24/7 bodyguard that her father puts on her to ‘protect’ her (virginity mostly). Mia has an attraction for Zeke but after coming on to him at her HS graduation she isn’t very thrilled that he is following her to Uni. Zeke as attracted as he is does what he can to protect himself and Mia all while knowing her fathers plans for her. Zeke and Mia’s love story is something I haven’t read before but it didn’t feel like it was a brand new concept. I loved the banter between the two even though the build up and spice was meh for me. For me this is a 3.5 star and 2.5 chili pepper. I didn’t love it but also not the worst book I read I’d definitely recommend to someone that isn’t looking for much spice and likes a slower story that is mafia with no real triggers though it does contain some unsavory acts.
