Dueling Timelines

Rate this book
He’s the perfect assassin. He’s never failed. It doesn’t matter what the resistance is; he cuts through it like Kerry Pure Irish butter. Some are saying he’s enhanced; he’s gotta be. Android maybe. Nano-enhanced maybe. Genetically altered possibly.

But Amy Farr, the trained assassin sent after him, and her partner, Trevor Hunter, former Navy SEAL, fear something far worse.

They fear he isn’t enhanced at all.

So, either he’s some super-powered Zen monk China flushed out of a monastery in Tibet when they should have had the good sense to leave those poor people alone. Or, he’s an extraterrestrial. Those are about the only two options left.

It doesn’t help that Agent X has a penchant for taking out the most politically corrupt, highest-ranking string pullers on the planet; people whose every decision affects billions of lives for the worse. He gives them a choice: confess your crimes on tape, or eat the bullet.

That creates a moral dilemma for Amy and Trent. They see themselves as the avengers. And he’s definitely making them look like slackers on the subject of holding the really bad and entitled accountable to the really needy and disenfranchised.

But that’s what romantic relationships are for, to drive each other absolutely crazy second-guessing their every decision, in between all the smooching and ripped-through Spandex.

As Agent X gets one deep state operative to confess after another, their shocking testimonials are broadcasted into another timeline as part of the experiment. Does the truth set us free, or is too much too soon too detrimental, if people are jumping out of windows out of the sense of horror?

Tired of an era of endless deep state overreach, of false flag events and psyops run against the many peoples of the world, Amy and Trevor are eager to prop up The Truth Shall Set You Free Timeline with the right strategic moves. But which timeline truly serves the greater good?

NOTE: THE 2ND INSTALLMENT OF THE IT TAKES TWO FRANCHISE, "DUELING TIMELINES", IS NOT A SEQUEL TO "MIND BENDER." I MAY YET WRITE SUCH A SEQUEL, BUT THIS IS NOT IT. IT IS AN ENTIRELY UNRELATED ADVENTURE. THE BOOKS, THEREFORE, CAN BE READ INDEPENDENTLY, AND IN ANY ORDER.

While action-packed sci-fi/techno-thrillers set in the near future are my forte, I also stray into other genres from time to time, such as space operas, paranormal fantasy, and detective stories. All my novels can be described as action-thrillers, no matter the sub-genre.

You can sample my writing with a free sci-fi e-book set in the near future by visiting my website https://deancmoore.com and signing up for my email list.

I live in the country where I breed bluebirds, which are endangered in these parts, as my small contribution to restoring nature's balance. When I'm not writing, or researching my next book, I may also be found socializing with friends, or working in the garden.

If you'd like to know what compels me to write, it's simple. I write as a force for peace. Fiction has a way of engaging our whole minds, not just our intellects, but various layers of our conscious, superconscious, and unconscious. Novels also encourage our left and right cerebral hemispheres to get in sync and, with just enough magic and wizardry, can help to transform people into more enlightened souls (the writer included) better than a hundred years of therapy or rational arguments to the same ends.

I've remained a lifelong student of philosophy, spirituality, psychology, science, and the arts.

Mark Freeman Enterprises (MFE) is my company. I sometimes publish under that label or simply under Amazon Digital Services.

I've enjoyed reading this book with science-fiction, techno-thriller and satire elements.
Once again we follow the adventures of Trevor and Amy, this time in two timelines!
Lots of conspiracies (I'm looking at you Titanic!), and a lot of thought about the nature of our reality. Why do so many people follow the mainstream media fear mongering agenda instead of seeing the light in themselves and others? Why do we let others divide and label us and let "them" set ourseleves against each other?
If you like an action based sci-fi thriller set in the near future and don't get a rash when you read about the Deep State, add this book to your TBR pile (and put it on top)!

DUELING TIMELINES is the second instalment in Dean C Moore’s adult, futuristic techno-thriller IT TAKES TWO speculative /sci-fi series. DUELING TIMELINES is a stand alone, not connected to book one, but a stand alone with the same lead characters as MIND BENDER-Amy Farr and Trevor Hunter. You do not have to have read MIND BENDER to understand or comprehend the current timeline.

Told from third person perspectives DUELING TIMELINES is a satirical look at real-world conspiracy theories come to life in a futuristic time. Earth is now occupied and controlled by a serpent-like species known as Draco, and assassin Amy Farr, and her now husband, former US Navy SEAL Trevor Hunter work for an organization called Earth Command. Nano-byte technology has improved such that reanimation, cloning and molecular transportation are the norm but the people of Earth are unaware and oblivious to what’s going on.

DUELING TIMELINES is a satirical tale blending as many modern-day conspiracy theories into a sci-fi adventure of dueling timelines, fallen angels, God and spirituality. From the ultimate control by the world’s oligarchs-Big Pharma, Industry, Financial, Military and Technology to the ascending knowledge of the Dark Web, Deep Web, Deep State and ‘Dark ET’ powers, the conspiracies turned reality asks the questions: Are we all actors on a giant stage controlled by a higher power? Or are we all watching a fraudulent play from the false comfort of our homes as the world implodes?

Reading this right after reading Mind Bender was a wild ride. Being familiar with Amy and Trent I was sort of prepared for what they and I were getting into. Like I said, sort of prepared, because along with being one heck of a storyteller Dean Moore is unpredictable if anything. I am hoping there are more tales with this duo in the future I’ve developed a kind of attachment to them – even with all their individual/together issues. So, what can you expect should you brave cracking this book open? Action, sometimes unrelenting action, humor, a huminitic side to two people who are assassins by trade and pure entertainment with a modicum of adult topics being introduced at appropriate times. While I enjoyed Mind Bender, I was entranced with this story and seriously hope Dean has another not-sequel in this series ready to publish soon – that’s a big hint Dean! I received an advance reader copy from the author and chose to provide this review.

Dueling Timelines is the second book in the It Takes Two series. It is my first read from author Dean C. Moore.

Looking back, I wish I had started with the first book in the series. I think it would have given me more backstory to appreciate the plot. Instead, I felt I was thrown into action sequences and characters that I could not more fully understand until 3/4 of the way through the book as I hadn't read the first novel. I was a good chunk of the way through the book when I realized the significance of the two timelines and what that meant for humanity. For that reason it is 3 stars.

I can see, though, why the author has published several books with 4 and 5 star ratings here at GoodReads. Moore's writing style is fast-paced, full of action, and has a unique wit. I hope to go back and read the first book in this series soon so that I can then get more understanding of the tech and characters that are in the second book.

Very entertaining and at times really funny and entertaining.
You end up being in a world that feels insane and impossible but you cannot put the book down in fear it might change when you are not looking ,so powerful and so real.
This is a must read.

Interesting, thought-provoking book. This is sci fi, mated with conspiracy theories – all too plausible. There are eerie echoes of what is going on in society today. Ultimately, the philosophy seems to be about a contest between God and Satan – using ETs and angelic/demonic beings to act out their will. There is lots of humour and quick repartee. There is some swearing, and a few graphic references to Satanic rituals. There are some words which are misread in the audiobook, but it’s not too distracting, and one can easily figure out the correct word. I received a free copy of this book, with no obligation.

Mr Moore's books are quite deep thinking books. Bordering on the enlightening. Thinking of two accomplished assassins working to bring spiritual awakening to the population of world is a leap of faith. Do God and His angels need the help of assassins? There are quite a few references to the deep state, big pharma, and alien players trying to stop the enlightening. There's lots of things to make you think. After all a lot of sci-fi from the 30's on made us think of things they were only supposing. Or were they just pointing the way forward.

Amy and Trevor are the main characters as well as Agent X in this wild adventure. Kept me laughing and giggling through the wild ride that was this story. Full of crazy characters, wild ideas, conspiracy theories on drugs and out there, and lots of gadgets to enjoy. It did make me think and wonder what was real and what was insanity. But it did kept me entertained and reading tho see what would happen next. Over the top at times but that was why I enjoyed it.

Great follow on for this series.
Continues the non-stop action, but really makes you think (and possibly question what you know).
Every conceivable conspiracy theory is incorporated - are they true or not?
Amy and Trevor are the main characters, but as much as you experience them, so many other characters are brought forward and developed.

Another roller coaster ride! Sci-fi, techno-thriller, and conspiracy theory all mixed into one. Amy and Trevor are saving the world with their assassin skills and their satire. A fun read!

I think the author may have outdone himself in this book.Enter Xavier from an upper gentimeline. He starts killing deep state personalities after they confess their crimes and is broadcasted to the entire world. Enter Amy and Trevor, assassins extraordinaire, who feel that he may be competition but deside they are on the same sheet of music. Teleporting, junping to other time lines, the author offers all. Conspiracy theories , take your pick. Enough for everyone. He even lets the angels into the ball game to make things interesting for Satan. This is a long read but between the humor and satire, you will not be able to put the book down. One of the best books I have read in a long time.

This is a fascinating mix of action, high tech Sci-Fi, conspiracy theories and wickedly satirical social commentary.
I really enjoyed the way the story jumped straight into action without any preamble, though it did initially make the story difficult to follow and while the book can be read as standalone, I recommend reading Mind Bender first, and wish I had, to have gained a better insight into the world(s) and time dimensions the adventure takes place in.
The author has a very unique style and obviously has a deep grounding in philosophy and science and views the world with a healthy dose of cynicism as well as wonder. I have only read two of his novels, including this one so far, but they have both left me thinking and wondering at us; the human species and what we have made of life on our planet so far...and where we are going...while taking in some fast-paced action and some chuckles along the way.
Dean’s books are not light, easy reads, and I probably favour less demanding novels most of the time, but if you like something that will leave you mulling over life and possible ET life – oh, and if you are a fan of conspiracy theories, look no further!
I received this book as ARC copy from the author and am leaving this review of my own volition.

Though I did not read the first novel, this truly can be read as a stand alone. It, also, seems to be a stepping stone to Mind of God. Any and Trevor are assassins for "good", only taking out the really corrupt and evil of the planet's inhabitants. Their newest target is Agent X, though they find that he is in a parallel timeline, being used as an "experiment" on how quickly the world can become enlightened and closer to God. There are several intriguing concepts regarding aliens among us and who/what really controls how we view the world and who/what rules it. A different take on the SciFi genre.

A second book by Dean C Moore - still in the sci-fi genre.
A perfect assassin who never fails, no matter what his task. But is he enhanced in some way. Is he an android? Or is he a whole new creation - maybe even alien. This is the task given to former Navy SEAL Trevor Hunter and his partner assassin Amy Farr. They have to find all the answers before it's too late.
Again, not my typical read but certainly makes one ask - exactly what is out there? And what effect will they have on our lives as we know it.
