An interesting book with very well developed characters and a strong Muslim identity. Appropriate for ages 15+ because of the main lead's traumatic experiences.
The book ‘With All My Heart’ is the first novel by Aasia Khan and the first book in her Maren Spring series. The story follows Layla, a young woman forced into hiding after the tragic murder of her parents. Before her parents' death, Layla’s mother gave her a letter to deliver to her (Layla’s) foster family, who live in Maren Springs, a fictional town in America. As Layla delivers the letter to her foster family, she realizes that this family is the solace she needs in this time of grief and distress. There, she meets her foster cousin Usman and feels an unexplainable connection that gradually grows into something deeper. How their story unfolds is for the readers to discover.
For me, this is a light and wholesome read that deals with the themes of halal romance, family bonds, and Muslim representation within American society. If you’re in the mood for a complex mystery or intense suspense, this might not be the book for you. It is a simple story of a loving family and two people who were meant to be together since the beginning of their lives. It may give a little ‘Hum Sath Sath Hain’ vibe 😉
As a budding author, I found Aasia Khan’s effort commendable. She beautifully portrays the character of Layla as a resilient girl who gracefully embraces her femininity. That said, I believe it was a bit difficult for me to connect with the characters, and I cannot pinpoint why. Maybe it was because the writer was telling more than showing the story through her characters and their actions. Some parts, like too many references to the strange connection between Usman and Layla, seemed a little forced.
I received this book along with another title from the same series as PR, and I genuinely appreciate the introduction to a new voice in fiction. I’m looking forward to reading more of her works.
It was a lovely book to read because it is about a Muslim family who cares for and loves one another. In this book, everyone is there for each other in hard times, which is one thing I love about the book. One of my favorite parts was when Usman was reciting Surah Al- Rahman to Layla when she was having a bad dream at night because I had memorized Al-Rahman, and I knew the meanings of it, and in the book, it did truly help her calm doWith All My Heart: Book One In The Exciting New Maren Springs Serieswn. Another one of my favorite parts of the book was Aasia Khanthe last few chapters. Where all the questions of why both Layla and Usman were kept apart all these years were being answered. Can't wait for the second book to arrive!
Absolutely loved the Islamic references and how everyone seems to be good Muslims ❤️ that’s also the only thing I loved about the book. Hated the storyline, the writing was awful, half of it doesn’t make any sense. I really wanted to love it, and I do want to support Muslims authors, but this was just not a good book.
With All My Heart is a sweet book set in a pleasant town - I liked how they had a mosque on the grounds and even an Eid fair- so fun! I also loved how faith was important to the storyline and in the characters' lives and the way it was incorporated in the book (even with the small details) that was nice to see. The loving family and their involvement in their community was also something that I really liked. Overall it's an easy and fun read, and we are looking forward to the next one!
An intriguingly sweet storyline. All the characters are unapologetically Muslim, and offer a glimpse into the community life. Truly something we can relate with. Looking forward to more books in this series!
A fun and easy read that you’ll have a hard time putting down once you start! I was immersed in the lives of the Bakhtiar family! This is a really cute love story about two Pakistani American families who used to be very close but later estranged and are brought together with a tragic event. They rediscover their love but realize they must navigate through the trauma. I loved the characters and found myself cheering them on, especially for Layla and Usman!! This would be an awesome storyline for a film or series adaptation! I’m eagerly awaiting Book 2!
It was an exciting Maren Springs story that has lots of funny things. My favorite part was that the dog Luke came and Layla and Usman played fetch with him. I also like how the author shows the family tree at the end. I also like that the author includes lots of areas like them learning to swim in the Bakhtiar's pool because Layla almost drowned but Asad saved her. I also loved that Layla loved writing in Usman's journal. Also I like that the author made it a Muslim romance story. May Allah be pleased with the author and her family. Ameen.
With All My Heart by Aasia Khan is a breath of fresh air in the romance category. Aasia writes from the heart and soul and beautifully captures the emotion of love, particularly from the perspective of its muslim characters. Its different but a good different from classic rom stories. The story and characters develop nicely. Recommended read, especially if you like the light romance genre.
Halal or not, romance isn't usually my cup of tea, but I really enjoyed this one. The first book in the Maren Springs series follows Layla and Usman, who have been inseparable since they were kids. I was really impressed with how the author managed to write a really sweet, cute romance without going into haraam.
With All My Heart, is a wonderful, well-written book that I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend! It felt really good to finish this warm-hearted love story with a smile on my face and a happy feeling in my heart. It was wonderful that the families made prayer a natural and necessary part of their lives. l look forward to books two and three and to learning about Al-Rahman.
With all my heart is a delightful Halal Romance! Its characters are endearing and noble the setting charming and rustic and an element of suspense is woven through out the narrative. Its a feel good story that leaves you with a warm and fuzzy feeling!
What a wonderful book to read. The imagery and the tone of the book are so well done. Definitely recommend it to youngsters as well as adults who have young adults.
With All My Heart is a story about woman who is afraid to trust. The story begins with her landing in the folds of comfort after living through intense truama as a relationship with a loving family from her past rekindles. Her new friends attempt to peel her protective shell piece by piece revealing the scars from the woman's past. But will they be able to help her to heal her pain or will it envelope her forever? This is feel-good novel about the power of love and family, a perfect beachread/chicklit. However, the story stands out even in this genre because it is based around Muslim characters. So along with being an entertainer it's a sneekpeek into a unique cultural setting. Its hard not to love it!
With All My Heart is a sweet book that is an easy read. This book draws you in with the wholesome storyline and endearing characters, and I'm looking forward to future books. Great read for both youth and adults!
