The special forces trained him to face any challenge. She’ll test him in ways he never imagined.
Corporal Chris Gunn plays hard, fights harder, and hasn’t met a woman he couldn’t charm. Until her. His life as a Marine Raider would be close to perfect if it wasn’t for the woman who seems tailor-made to provoke him at every turn.
Samantha doesn’t have time for BS. Between her job, her checked-out mother, and the little sister whose antics will turn her prematurely gray, she has zero time for an adult pretender whose ego is only surpassed by his bossiness. And his hotness. Pretending to ignore the Raider while he pushes all her buttons has become her own personal Olympic sport, and she’s determined to take gold.
But when a stalker sets his sights on Samantha, Chris will do everything in his power to protect the only woman who’s ever gotten under his skin. If these two can stop fighting each other, they just might be able to stop a threat bent on revenge. And they might discover that, sometimes, the person you can’t stand ends up being the one you can’t live without.
Meet the men of Alpha Squad. Protective, strong-willed, and tough, they go hard after what they want. And when they set their sights on a woman, they’ll use every weapon in their arsenal to make her theirs. Each book in this series is a fast, steamy read, full of pulse-pounding action and sexy times.
Allyson Charles writes small-town, contemporary romances with heat and humor. A former attorney, she happily ditched those suits and now works in her pajamas writing about men’s briefs instead of legal briefs. When she’s not writing, she’s probably engaged in one of her favorite hobbies: napping, eating, or martial arts (That last one almost makes up for the first two, right?). She also writes steamy historicals as Alyson Chase.
Chris and Sam bicker like an old married couple but deny any attraction between the two. Chris likes to rile up Sam, their back and forth keeps him on his toes but there is more to the player than meets the eye and when Sam gains the attention of a stalker, Chris will protect her with everything he is. Sam is exhausted, between her job, her dead beat mother and younger sister, who is living with her and acting up, she doesn’t have time for a stalker or Chris but when things become dire, she wouldn’t want anyone else to be by her side and protecting her. A great read with steam, suspense, surprises, twists and turns and great characters. I was a bit leery of Chris and his womanizing ways, and was delighted that there was none…except for with Sam. The story flowed nicely and had a few laughs with their bickering back and forth….frenemies to lovers. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Stalked (Marine Raiders Alpha Book 2) by Allyson Charles is a mild “enemies to lovers” story. While Corporal Chris Gunn and Samantha Winters are two characters that don’t get along in the beginning of the story. Chris provokes Samantha trying to her attention. Then her smarminess comes into play. All together they spend way too much time thinking about each other to believe that they are not interested.
The “stalker” actions bring these two closer. The suspense is well developed making the storyline believable. Chris is at heart a protector though he comes across as a player. I enjoyed seeing him go into protector mode. As for the romance, it may seem instant but these two have known each other through mutual friends so not so instant. The bad language is part of the story as well as some open bedroom door scenes. The danger is realistic with me guessing who was behind it about three fourths of the way through. Still I enjoyed reading how it all played out in the end.
The second book in the Marine Raiders Alpha is an entertaining read. The plot even more believable than the first. The characters just as likable as in the first. These guys are growing on me so I am interested in who gets their story next. If you are a fan of romantic military suspense then you will want to read this series. Stalked reads well on its own so enjoy it today.
4.5 Stars An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher/author through BookSprout which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love a good enemies-to-lovers, so I was ready for Chris and Samantha’s story before Carolyn and Jake’s story was finished. To be fair, these two aren’t really enemies, but they’re both hella annoyed at each other all. The. Time. The attraction appears to be obvious to everyone but them, so they seem to be in denial. But when strange things start happening to Samantha, Chris goes into full alpha special forces mode to keep her safe and find her tormentor. They have great chemistry, so we get some heat with this fast-paced suspense and it’s too good to put down.
These Marine Raiders are so great to read about, and Chris Gunn (and that name Trip is a true gift!) is no exception. Samantha and he have a definite antipathy that has immense heat, and I think this is the best enemies-to-lovers I’ve read. The story itself is far from straightforward, the twist in the plot is frankly sad (as well as, well, twisted), and the other characters are interesting. The context to Chris and Samantha’s antipathy can be found in Hunted, which isn’t essential pre-reading but which does help make sense of some of the story’s subplots and characters. That Chris himself is so protective when Samantha is at risk is a delight to read, and his determined non-relationship status clearly needs to go. I’ve given this book an unhesitating five stars; I’d give it six if I could!
Frenemies to lovers: This romantic military suspense novel was the second in the series and whilst it could be read as a standalone, the first book does provide context and some backstory. I am becoming quite fond of these tough ex-military guys who become all protective, yet tender too, when the women they love are threatened. It took a while for Chris and Sam to stop bickering and fighting their mutual attraction yet they made a convincing couple. I was particularly pleased to see Chris settle down and actually liked both of their personal growth. The suspense seemed plausible albeit rather predictable. I would still be interested in carrying on with the rest of the series as it makes for an entertaining read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Stalked is book 2 in the Marine Raiders series by Allyson Charles. It is a kind of enemies to lovers book. Chris and Sam do not get along, always butting heads. However, they are both attracted to each other. Always thrown together with their group of friends, these two start to get along. Sam is raising her younger sister as her dead beat drunk of a mother can't. Strange things start happening and it turns out Sam has a stalker. Chris feels drawn to Sam and has to help her and her sister. This was a great read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Chris and Samantha are like two kids in school sniping at each other to cover their teenage crush. They are both attracted to each other, but Chris has sworn never to commit to one person and Sam has too much on her plate taking care of her sister. After always being thrown together, they move on to friends with benefits, until Sam draws the attention of a stalker trying to cause her harm. This is a good story and sweet romance, but it was obvious who was behind the stalking and why. Because the book was well written, it was an enjoyable read that keeps your interest despite knowing the instigator behind the vandalism and attacks.
This is book two in The Marine Raiders Alpha Series and it is Chris and Samantha's story. Wow this book takes you in right from the start and kept your attention throughout and there are twists and turns that you don't see coming but had you on the edge of your seat while turning the pages wondering what would happen. The chemistry between Chris and Samantha was so strong even though they constantly bicker back and forth so much but I felt that added to the drama of there story and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Great Suspenseful Romance! This book had great amounts of both contemporary military romance and suspense, with a HEA to end it all. If you're a suspense buff, there were plenty of clues to figure out the most likely bad guy. Well written, good MC tension back and forth, read it in 2 sessions to learn how they worked it out. Trigger warning for some people. I can't be more specific without giving away major plot points.

Sam is struggling to deal with her mother and sister and trying to work at the same time. Things get worse when she realizes that she has a stalker. She turns to Chris for help. Chris has never been interested in relationships but that starts to change with Sam. Will he be able to keep her safe? Will they find out who is after her?
This is a great story that once I started, I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

This is the second book in this series, and this is Chris and Samantha’s journey. These two enjoy butting heads and pushing each other buttons, but when she becomes the target of a stalker, he will do whatever he must to protect and keep her safe. This is a well written story which is fast paced, with explosive chemistry, family, revenge, emotions, danger, suspense, intrigue, and is an entertaining page turner. They call him Trip. The team of the Marine Raiders are all stand up and fabulously sexy guys. Oh yes, we all wish one of the guys would come into our lives. I love this enemies-to-lovers story. The bickering and the snarkiness are all catnip for me. The twist (which I did figure out) was so yuck. Does that intrigue you? I wanted to read more of their story. Yeah, I am greedy.
Sam cannot stand to be around Chris, however, is the team to her best friends' boyfriends so they spend a lot of time together. The problem is that as much as he annoys her, he also excites her. When her life and her sisters is in danger, he will do everything he can to keep them both safe. What neither expect to happen is that they actually get along.

Do they really hate each other or is it really love in disguise?
The author has done a fantastic job writing Samantha & Chris's story. They push each others buttons but they say there's a fine line between love & hate. How far are they to crossing that line? Samantha has a stalker, can these two stop arguing long enough to take down the stalker? I highly recommend reading "Stalked" as it's worth 5 stars.

I absolutely loved Stalked book 2 in the Marine Raiders Alpha series by Allyson Charles. There is a fine line between love and hate and Chris and Samantha's story is a perfect example. The tension between them was explosive. Chris may enjoy antagonizing Samantha but when he learns she has someone stalking and threatening her, his overwhelming need to protect her comes to the surface. Definitely recommend reading their story. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Love it when characters continue on with the following series. The team continue to be funny & ready while Sam & Chris bring the sass, banter, flirtatious vibe with steamy romance burning up the pages. Romantic suspense military style, absolutely enjoyable.

Sam and Chris are oil on water until the oil catches a fire and burns everything in its path. This was a fun but intense read. The plot twists and turns made for an interesting and enjoyable reading experience.
First, I must say that the end was. a surprise. While I had figured out the who, I was definitely off on the why. This s Tory is full of wors, mistakes, revelation, suspense and triumph, and I would not only recommend it, but I plan to read it gain.
