Isra now walks in the shadows since giving her heart up to the darkness. She finds herself gloating when Everilda shows up but Everilda has her own journey of darkness unbeknownst to Isra when the demonic sorceress Rhiannon reveals a secret that could tear Everilda's world apart.
Astrid the raven has witnessed Isra's transition and is still keeping a friendly eye on her. Astrid eavesdrops on a private conversation between James and Samuel and is furious upon hearing that James has been given the role to befriend Isra. More importantly, James and Samuel have elaborately set it up so that Isra will be residing in a secluded fortress where they can safely keep watch on her. However, Isra is reluctant despite Samuel's beautifully concocted plan.
Samuel the light-bringer has got his own ideas in mind for Isra when he comes down in person to speak with her. He introduces himself to Isra as a being of the light and gives her what he believes is an appealing alternative but will his soft approach work with Isra's rigid heart?
Astrid rebels against Samuel's authority and meets up with Isra only now he's in a very handsome human form thanks to the demoness Rhiannon. For the first time ever, Astrid is able to get close to Isra in any way that he pleases but Astrid has something more sinister in mind for the dark sorceress. Astrid wants to unleash Isra's full potential. He's priming her for darkness. To ensure she becomes the destructive force that everyone has proclaimed her to be.
Now Samuel must get to Isra and Astrid in time before all hell breaks loose. And literally, since Astrid offers Isra the opportunity to be herself by offering her potent powerful magics that she once held claim to until Samuel had taken it away from her when they had first met.
You've tasted the darkness. You've lived in its gruesome claws, hiding amongst the shadows as it lured you with its bewitching call. But now dark and light is about to go head to head.
USA Today Best-Selling Author Isra Sravenheart tells a tale in which darkness can be the best friend you seek or the ultimate enemy. There can only be one way this can go as light and dark come together in the penultimate battle.
***STOP PRESS. THE DARK SPELL SERIES IS NOW COMPLETE, READY FOR YOU TO BINGE ****
THE SPIN OFF, WICKEDLY GOOD SOULS, KICKS OFF WITH "WICKED LIGHTBRINGER" LANDING SEPT 2022!*****
I'm not very good at talking about myself in the third person.
Isra is an eccentric author whose heart resides with the dark fantasy but also paranormal genres. Cats and coffee are her main interests. She's also a pretty badass witch and often envisions new adventures involving dragons, witches, warlocks and really likes villains. When she's not writing she's rewatching Supernatural for the umpteenth time and thirsting over Jensen Ackles. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
So Kissing Darkness. My personal favourite of the entire series. Isra has given her heart up to darkness. Astrid is still keeping an eye on her despite being told not to. Samuel meets Isra for the very first time and offers her an alternative to her dark ferocity only she refuses but its okay because Samuel has a grand plan involving angelic agent james to drag her back into the good graces of the light. However Astrid has eavesdropped and is aware of their cunning idea and has a few of his own. Calling upon an old friend for a favour Astrid meets Isra in person in his new humanised form much to the annoyance of James who catches him with her. Astrid is not just rebelling against the cause but now his plan is to have his way with isra. Astrid isn't the light bearing soul he once appeared to be because now he presents Isra with the magics Samuel once confiscated from her. It's a race against time as Samuel now has to stop the pair of them from unleashing their own brand of chaos unto the world. But can Samuel succeed??
Isra the witch is back and has embraced the darkness within her heart, she has accessed powers she never dreamed of and now she wants more, but she is still young and naïve and has plenty of time to make all the discoveries she wants to, but there are others who want to stop her before she has even begun. Meanwhile, Astrid is still keeping an eye on Isra but even though she doesn’t know he exists, he is falling deeper and harder for her everyday and so has gone on a rebellious quest to make a request of an old friend and the demoness Rhiannon to enable him to be closer to Isra in everyway and in a human body, so he accepts the deal offered and goes to see Isra for real and carry out his own plan for her at the same time.
Astrid has been defying the orders of Samuel the light bringer, but when he comes bearing tidings of Isra and what has occurred with regards to her and the darkness within her, Samuel decides that it is time to take matters into his own hands and decides to have a conversation with Isra. This is where he neutralises her dark powers and brings her to his home for hot coffee and polite, if intimate conversation about her past and her future, he also offers advice and insight and offers Isra the chance for salvation instead of damnation, however, Isra politely declines and so he returns her to her wanderings and thinks about what he can do next. When Samuel returns from this conversation he talks to Astrid and sounds out his thoughts on the whole Isra situation and decides to bring in another person to help, James and after he believes Astrid had left, he calls on this other person, to discuss his need for them to carry out a task. Astrid overhears the conversation between them where they are discussing plans to try and keep Isra in the light and how they plan to make it known that there is an abandoned fortress currently awaiting a new tenant and that James will be the one to show Isra around and befriend her.
At the same time, in a dilapidated hovel, Everilda is about to discover a shocking truth that will send her on a darker path she never expected after the demoness Rhiannon pays her a visit and reveals secrets which will send her on another collision course with Isra, which the witch has no idea about. As this complex and mysterious tapestry is woven, with Isra at the centre, will she continue on the path of darkness where Astrid is leading her, or will Samuel and James be able to turn her back to the light in this fantasy land of magic and sorcery?
This is the 5th book in the Dark Spell series and I don't highly recommend reading them from the beginning so you get a understand of all the characters and how they got into the position they are today. This is a paranormal story about good against evil and how things that happen in our life can change our course. The main characters Isra and Everilda have both become evil and set on getting revenge on the other person but with the addition of a evil sorceress called Rhiannon it is hard to tell who is the truelly evil one? Who was born evil and who was turned. I have enjoyed these books from the beginning. The author is always coming up with captivating stories with twists and turns that you never see coming. I love the magic of these books but also how the stories have some element of life today with the constant struggle between good and evil.
With Isra now turned over to the darkness it is up to Samuel( the light bringer) to try and change her and get her on the path of light again. However things aren't that straight forward and with forces working against him to keep Isra on the side of darkness he has one huge fight on his hands. The price for Samuel's failure would be hell breaking lose on earth. Can Samuel show Isra the power of the light or now she has sampled the power and strength of the darkness will she be attracted more to that power? In this book the fight between darkness and light becomes a massive one with huge stakes at risk and there is one woman who holds the winning cards. It all depends on which side she chooses.
I could not get enough of this book as I read through, it was amazing and I truly feel I got so much out of this amazing. I cant not find the dear words to express who exquisite the writing was. It was amazing to simply put it into one word! The author truly gave us as readers a lot, the enjoyment was beyond words!
This book really gave me a lot as I read through. Besides the contrast of characters, I loved the telling of the light and dark. If we succumb to either what would happen? I found it was really intriguing to read about both sides. So many stories fight for the light, you don't really get the clear picture of the darkness within all of us, so that really made this book amazing from my point of view!
I will be going back to read the prior books in the series for sure! There is a lot of things I want to be filled in about, and find out more details on. I know there is much more to Isra! She was a character that simply is amazing with lots of wonder. I was so lost into this world the book resided in, I loved every moment of it! I could not get enough truly. It was so good, I will recommending this book to everyone!
Amazing and wonderful read and very much a stellar universe to be a part of. The author did a freaking amazing job at this book and the characters. The writing still blows me away, though I have completed this wonderful book. I say this is a must read, I recommend it with all within my soul! Loved it!
How can you leave me hanging like that ? Poor Astrid, poor Isra...
This book flows so well, the words come right off the page and paint the scene.. The kingdom building - is here... The character growth.. is here..
I couldn't put the book down - after finding the first book hard to get into in the first few chapters and wondered if this book was going to flow the same... nope it didn't, this was written in a completely different style than the start of the first book and omg im in love... I cant wait to pick up the new part...
My own downfall on this book was my confusion on where my chocolate haired witch had gone and why she was suddenly blonde.. but it was explained that she took in the evil and the hair colour changed... was this explained in the first book, I don't remember it.. and it threw me for first chapter to two... but, this is a great read.. id say the those who struggled with book 1 .. just skip to book two - I promise you won't be disappointed

This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites by her. I never hesitate to pick up one of her books as they are engaging and I know I am in for a great paranormal adventure. This is a well written story about light and dark coming together as one as well as both are about to go head to head. The characters are connectable who not only made the story entertaining but also kept me turning pages fast. This is a fast paced story that I found hard to put down. This is another adventure with Irsa and a race against time to save lives. I enjoyed her character, who is my favorite but also how the secondary characters are supportive. They are creative and made me want to know what happened next. A story that took me on an adventure where you never know what is lurking in the shadows. I truly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
Kissing Darkness is the fifth book in the Dark Spell series by Isra Sravenheart. It is a superb addition to the series- a imaginative (dark-ish) fantasy with witches, magic, drama, deception, agendas, and much more. I have followed this uniquely original series right from the beginning, and the author never fails to surprise me, in a god way. Whenever I think I know what will happen- she twists it up a bit and leaves me wondering once more. This book ramps things up a bit, and things are not necessarily what they seem. I can’t wait to see where we go from here. I you haven’t read the previous four books yet, I highly recommend reading the other books before starting on this one, as knowing what happens previously will help you better understand and appreciate this book, as well as the series as a whole. Happy reading!
I’m hooked! This authors writing style is not only all encompassing, but being that this is the first novel in this series I have read, I didn’t feel too lost when it came to the characters, story line, and friendships/enemies that all come together to create this series. I found it very neat the way she writes in third person so that you develop a greater appreciation for all the magnificent characters personalities, their outlook on the events that unfold, and their innermost thoughts. I love it!
I very much look forward to reading the first four books in this series, and the remainder of them as they’re released in 2022. It appears each novel has its own side story within the main story and gives you far more character development, and indulgent world building than a lot of novels I have read in the past. Damien Daughtry and Rhiannon’s story, along with their daughters are a few of the ones that I really want to learn more about. Will certainly be recommending to all my bookworm friends!
Kissing Darkness (Dark Spell Series #5) by Isra Sravenheart
This is another fantastic read by the author. Each of the Dark Spell Series is good, but this tops the charts. Kissing Darkness is an amazing read.
Isra is a good witch for now, but she's close to being a witch of darkness. She is trying to be stopped, but can she be stopped? The quote I chose for Isra is: “Huh? You know about me, how interesting! That’s my dragon. His name is Franco.”
Astrid overhears a conversation he wasn't supposed to. James won't befriend Isra and Sam wants to stop her. He gets to Isra before they can. Can he bring her to the dark side? The quote I chose for Astrid is: “Actually, I’ve just come back from witnessing Isra give up her heart to darkness.”
Isra Sravenheart has earned a rare five star review from me with her latest work "Kissing Darkness." Finding Sravenheart's writing is one of the true highlights of 2021 and I am happy to be ending the year with one of her works. Since beginning this series, I eagerly await each one and then quickly finish them in one sitting. Each work in the "Dark Spell Series" are spell-binding, with a seemingly fairy tale overture influence about them. The familiar themes of betrayal and revenge drive the plot while the use of paranormal elements keeps the storyline unique and interesting. If this is your first encounter with the "Dark Spell Series" you may want to begin with the first book or you may just want to dive into the world which has intrigued so many. Either way, I am sure I will be reading your five-star review next!
Isra Sravenheart has become one of the authors that I do not hesitate to pick up her books.I have followed this series from the first book and they keep getting better. Her storytelling keeps me wanting more. Kissing Darkness is the fifth book in the Dark Spell series. Her story is fast-paced, but it is satisfying to read. It is a story filled with witches, magic, agendas, and deception. When you think that the story is going in one direction it makes a turn out of right field. The characters are fully developed and interesting to read about. Irsa is at it again. She has given her heart to the darkness. Astrid is still watching over Irsa. Does Astrid have her hands full? What trouble does Irsa bring this time? Who is Samuel and how does he fit into the picture? I highly recommend this book and the previous 4 books. I will warn you that you may not be able to put this book down until the last word on the last page of this book.
Kissing Darkness (Dark Spell Series Book 5) by Isra Sravenheart. This book was a sit down and hold on to your hat kinda read. Once I started I couldn't put it down. It is book 5 in the Dark Spell series but even though I haven't read the previous books I caught on pretty quick. Its about Warlocks and Witches. Isra is a witch and she's going to school for Warlocks and Witches. Isra was once friends with Everilda but something happened and Everilda lost all her powers and now she's set on revenge. Astrid is a raven that is keeping a look out for Isra. There is also James who are planning on taking Isra down. Samuel has his work cut out for him to bring her to the Light. This is a story of Dark vs. Light and it keeps you guessing which way Isra is going to go. If you are craving a read that includes, romance, mystery and magic this is the read for you!
Kissing Darkness (Dark Spell #5) by Isra Sravenheart
4-stars
This was another incredible story in this phenomenal series. This is book 5 in the Dark Spell series, a series that should absolutely be read in order. So, if you have not read the first four head on back to get started! This is a series you won’t want to miss!!
Just like the others of the series Kissing Darkness is entertaining, mysterious, detailed, captivating and full of twists and turns which had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I love this tale of dark vs light and the complex characters all intertwined.
This author really managed to take me on a magical journey, one that isn’t stopping anytime soon. I really look forward to reading more of this series asap!
This is the fifth installment to this series and it might be the best one yet. Full of witches, magic, drama and so much more it's one of the better fantasy books that I have read this year. There were several times that I thought I had this story all figured out and our author threw me a curveball by throwing in more drama or twists and turns. I have read this entire series from book one and personally I would recommend reading them in order. You can read the fifth installment as a stand alone but you'll have a much better understanding of the world and the story if you read the previous four books. So if you love witches and fantasy, and you need a new book for this weekend I highly recommend this one.
The darkness has taken over and there is deception and lies everywhere. This is the fifth book in this series and each one gets a little better than the one before. There is something for everyone to love in this dark paranormal fairy-tale-esque story, with magic and witches, danger and deceit, suspense and drama, demonic sorceress and revenge. Not everyone is as they seem and each and every one of them have their own agenda of lies to get what they want but they each get far more than they bargained for when the dark vs the light. No wonder her heart has blackened and her soul has turned towards the dark. Beware what you create.
Kissing Darkness what is there to say? I think I’m really confused and I feel it’s because I missed things by not reading books 1-4, since this is book 5 in the series. So as appealing as this book may sound, I feel like one might need to read 1-4 to not be as confused as I. Character development was strong though, which was quite refreshing. Isra living a life that has continually left her down, betrayed, taken for granted, has turned from the light. A decision Samuel is trying to redirect from darkness to light. Of course that’s prompted once he finds out she has a mortal enemy. Did I forget to mention that Isra is a witch and was going to a school for Warlocks and Witches. Everilda was once friends with Isra, now she has no powers and she wants retribution against Isra for it. Even though she’s the one who betrayed her friend. I was intrigued when I stumbled across this book, but I feel as wonderful a world these characters grow, develop, and live in. I would’ve had a better understanding reading this book if I read 1-4. So now I stress reading them all the best advice I can give. I’m going to start again but by reading books 1-4 first.
This is the first book I have read by this author and it definitely will not be my last! My only regret was starting on book 5 of this series instead of at the beginning as I think I would have enjoyed it even more than I did had I had the proper background. I will be going back and starting again for sure. So if you are new to this series I highly recommend starting with book 1 to further enhance your experience. This paranormal story has it all...great characters, suspense, magic, witches and revenge just to name a few of the elements....I mean who doesn't love a bit of revenge right? I promise it will have you on the edge of your seat with all the twists and turns you will not expect.
Kissing Darkness is the fifth book in this wonderful series. I highly recommend reading the previous books first to get the most enjoyment out of this addition to the series. This has paranormal, fantasy, intrigue, twists and turns, and much more. Isra has developed a lot as a character, and now she has to decide whom to trust truly. Everyone seems to have a plan in action, but who is upfront and can be trusted? I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this series and author in the future.
Reading this book I LOVED it from start to finish. Just wished I would've read books one through four before starting this one. I really like to read series and follow characters from the beginning of their journeys. Still loved it nontheless!! I grew to love Isra, but all characters were very interesting as well. Great story about light and dark coming together. Magic, witches and drama!! ❤ Now I must go play catch up and read the rest of the series from the beginning LOL
This is the fifth book in the dark spell series. The darkness has taken over and there is deception and lies everywhere. There is something for everyone to love in this dark paranormal fairy-tale story, with magic and witches, danger, deceit, suspense. drama, demonic sorceress and revenge. Not everyone is as they seem. I didn’t realize this was book 5 when I started reading it. And honestly, I wasn’t lost when I was reading it, I was able to read this book without having to read all the other books to enjoy it. i enjoyed it that I think I will read the other books to see what happened in them. The book is a fantasy book which is what I like about it. Isra was a wonderful character that simply is amazing with lots of wonder, towards everything that she encountered. I was so lost into this world that this book brought to life! I could not get enough and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I really need to go back and read the first 4 books because I missed a lot of key things. But it was still really good! I'm definitely going to spend my winter break catching up on the author's series.
Action Packed! I love that Astrid the raven goes on his own quest to help Isra which leads to him becoming human to try to woo her! Ugh they took her memories of him and he returned to a raven! All I want is for him to return to a human and win her back!
Following this tale never gets old! Honestly such an exceptional writer and series. I never want it to end. The perfect amount of conflict, drama, and spicyness. I dont know how I made it so long without this author but get the books now. You wont be disappointed!!
I could not put this book down! As always I'm starting backwards, but I am very eager to read the books 1-4 and play catch up. We encounter magic, witches, deception, and the age old dilemma of good versus evil.
This book guides us through the dark and the light. Isra who has given herself to the dark side is now preparing herself for the battle at hand. There are many critical forces at play, and Isra is a crucial part of it all. As we watch the story unfold it will be many twists you did not see coming
I didn't know this was the fifth book in the series, but still loved it nonetheless. I'm absolutely going to read the rest of the series. I really like Isra's character. In a battle of light and darkness, Isra has kinda lost her way. I LOVE this book and can't wait to get my hands on the rest.
This book is another great addition to this series. It is never hard to fall back into Isra's story. This book is fast paced from the moment you start reading. Everything that is happening really grabs your attention and the characters are all so interesting. With each new book this series really does just get stronger. It is exciting to read and I always look forward to the next book. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone.
The Author has a unique writing style and smoothly tells their story in a third-person narrative. The Author has provided us with an original take on the good-vs-evil/light-vs-dark plot; a reversed fairytale twist, with memorable characters and their dealings with magic, deception, drama and revenge.
I recommend reading the Dark Spells Series to anyone who enjoys the dark fantasy/paranormal genre. I also recommend reading the books in their intended order, it will save you from confusion, as this book seems to be a pivotal plot for the character Isra. This book will have you on the edge of your seat in suspense of what is to come, I look forward to reading the series from the beginning!
I cant really say I'm happy about this series really. It feels out of place and the main character Isra and her motives don't feel enough motivating. Enough to atleast unleash Prophecy chaos atleast. And how the "fight" with Samuel and Astrid went down? Underwhelming you'd think Astrid would atleast have attempted to get them out or something. Idk or watch him get turned into a Raven before everything. Idk. Along with the fact he isn't really a "shifter" more made a deal with a demon to turn himself human which was immediately undone by his so called friend.
