Former Army Sergeant Seth McCray is a haunted man. For years, he's been visited, nagged, and tormented by the ghost of a teenage girl he killed in self-defense. If she hadn't been gunning to murder someone the night their paths crossed, she'd still be alive. He'd only have one ghost to deal with Katelynn, his fiancée who died in a horrific car accident. As hard as life is without Katelynn, he promised he'd love her forever. And he will. Even if it kills him... Devereaux Shepherd is running on empty. A single mom and the beleaguered sister of a brother with a hero complex, she's given so much of her heart away there's barely any left. Until the night she crashes headlong into handsome Seth McCray... Until their instant attraction smolders... But Seth is in love with another woman. Or is he?
Growing up in the countryside of Wisconsin, I always wanted to be a writer. I've dabbled in poetry, short stories, and more daydreaming than most. Way back when, I remember long Sunday afternoon drives with my parents where they'd tell us eight kids to, 'Look out the window and see something!'
I've been looking out the window ever since . . .
In the great Northwest pines, I saw a woman who had nowhere to run find refuge in the arms of a tender warrior seeking his own road to healing. In the hills of Wyoming, I saw a broken man who thought he'd lost everything rediscover the man he was in the eyes of a pretty girl. And in the Dairy State, (yes Wisconsin), I saw two people fall in love and overcome horrific obstacles on their way to happily-ever-after.
Life is short. Pick up a good book. Read. Write. Enjoy. Look out the window and see something!
Seth McCray was coming home after his 4 month deployment. Anticipating seeing his family and fiancé Katelynn..But when he heard the news from his parents he was completely broken. Even worse was what happened when he was out with his friends. It later haunted him.
Devereaux Shepherd came back into his life. He didn’t remember her, but it all came back. Was it a sign for him to move on? She was the flight attendant aka Red he met when he returned home..
From book 1 ALEX all through, each team member has had a thrilling and difficult story to tell. This one is no different… yet it is.
Everyone of these battle hardened guys has a soft side. But getting TO that soft side is unique to each. Every one has an Achilles heel, something that will make them standup and take notice. Seth is no different.
Seth McCray met Devereaux Shepherd on a fateful day, one he will never forget, just off chance and by coincidence. That meeting would be much more meaningful and clear, later on. You see Seth lost something very dear to him that day. But was the meeting pure chance or did fate have a hand to play?
Devereaux Shepherd, little sister and Mommy are all titles she bears. Cord, her brother is in way deep into the sinister world of human trafficking. She is just helping these poor, innocent souls he brings her way. Is it by luck, she runs into Seth again, now a broken down, guilt-ridden man, just barely surviving by pushing the past aside? Add in Gru and Scottie her little man, and Dev had all she could do just to maintain.
Seth and Dev meet and the connection they had is still there. But the path they take is torturous with many pitfalls and potholes. Cord can’t stand Seth, he tells Dev to leave this guy alone. But the heart can’t say no when its right and real. Dev and Cord are inexplicably tied up in world that screams danger that sucks Seth in. Is Seth the man to help lead them through? Is Dev strong enough to make it? Is Seth the man she thinks he is? Only by reading this amazing story will you find the answers!
I as given an ARC to read but the Review is freely given and all mine!
The heroine is overtaxed in time, money and spirit. There’s only so much a single mother and a sister to a brother who thinks he can save the world with her help can do. Each time she helps, it takes a bit more of her away. It doesn’t help she works for minimum wage and one of the guys in town want her in his clubs showing her body.
Our hero is tortured by what happened to him in his past. His career in the Army started off great and he had his future mapped out until he came home on leave to find his future bride had died on the way to meet him. After he lays her to rest, his friends finally talk him to going out to a bar, where there was a fight and a girl is killed in self-defence, which sends him down even further mentally.
The plot is different and brings up another heavy topic of human trafficking, which the heroine’s brother and the hero’s uncle are partnered up with. It’s not convincing you can swim or not be intercepted if you were coming from Cuba, but we’ll put this down to stretching facts a bit. Otherwise, the characters are all likeable (or irritating depending on how you get to feel about the heroine’s brother and friend) and I could see people I know within each of them. It’s interesting on how the author links up the hero and heroine in the storyline. I can see the author is getting good at throwing in a late plot twists as well even though you knew this was coming, but you didn’t see it exactly this way.
This is the 17th from this series, and I believe there is only 1 more left, although I don’t have it in my collection. I'm curious to see what the next – and final- book brings.
An emotional work out of the best kind! Seth is a part of the TEAM, a security firm that accomplishes what others, including the US government, can't. These former military specialists have been chosen by their incomparable boss, Alex, with a renown temper along with his get-it-done reputation. Seth does his job while carrying his guilt and loss from his past. No women have meant anything until he sees Devereaux and the wall begins to erode.
Dev is a tiny woman with a giving heart and a fierce will to live and provide for her son. There are other people she supports that will touch your heart. Her little son is adorable and an old soul. He's a boy that would make anyone proud. Can these two special people bring life and love back to Seth?
The dark world of human trafficking hits close to home. Seth joins in a rescue mission that is so much more. Can he change the course of the catastrophy in the making? Will he need help from his brothers on the TEAM? While on his mission to save strangers, who will protect those he loves at home?
Ms. Winters never fails to give us an amazing ride from page one to the THE END. She always costs me a night of sleep. I can't start a book without reading all the way through. Bring tissues and ice water. Plan to giggle and say awe a lot. Compare tempers of real heros and their tender sides as well. The author gives her all making for an unforgettable reading experience. I recommend this to all readers.
I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
Honestly I couldn’t wait to dig into Irish Winters new book “Seth.” I just love the In the Company of Sniper series. Once in I just could not the book down. Each man in the series are such strong, confident and hard men but they each have a soft spot. This includes Seth McCray. There is such depth in this book with not just the story but the characters. For Seth lost his fiancée in a tragic car accident that it seems he cannot get over all of the tragedy going on in his life. Then there is Devereaux Shepherd who is a single mom of a little boy Scottie, who is 4 Years old. This is just such an emotional read that I could not stop turning the pages to learn what is going to happen next to these characters. For the book starts off emotional for Seth is going home to his fiancée Katelynn when he heard the news from is mom and dad. Katelynn passed away in a car accident. Just a very emotional beginning. But let’s not forget throughout there at twist and turns with lots of action but let’s not forget the romance between Seth and Dev. I highly recommend this book and series.
I was given an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest review.
You can't help but fall in love with Seth McCray. He's haunted. He's honorable. And he's hot! Seth lost his beloved Katelynn to an accident years prior and often calls on his good buddy, Jack Daniels, to help dull the pain of loneliness. When he and Jack party, though, he is haunted by the ghost of the crazed kid who had opened fire on patrons of a bar one fateful night. With his army training to protect and serve, Seth took the fatal shot that ended the carnage. He cannot get away from Jack, Katelynn or the crazed Latoya, even on vacation at his uncle's beach cottage. That is, until the serendipitous night he stumbles across Devereaux Shepherd. He quickly becomes entangled in the lives of Dev and her crazy little family. An intense novel of continued suspense, you are swept away in their journey to right some serious wrongs in the world, while finding the peace and love they both so deserve.
It seems to me that no one can write heroes quite like Irish Winters can! Seth is just another example of one of her amazing heroes. He had my heart right from the first few pages and then it broke right along with his. Wow talk about an emotional beginning, this book had quite an impact right from the get go. I cried right along with Seth and for him as he deals with his loss and guilt. Then Devereaux came along and her story had another impact on my heart. Whew, this book really dealt with a lot of emotion and certainly didn’t lack action either. Throw in Alex Stewart (of course you just can’t help but love him), Devereaux’s brother Cord (who is a hero in his own right) and you have a highly emotional, entertaining story that is impossible to put down. So all I can say is, pick this book up, grab a drink, a box of tissues and sit back and enjoy!
An amazing story packed full of danger, intrigue, learning to trust and second chance at love. Devereaux is a single mom of 4yr old Scottie. Her neighbor Trish helps her with him. Her brother Cord is an ex marine who rescues women and children from sex trafficking. Seth is still trying to get over losing his fiancée 5 yrs ago when she died in a car accident. He now works for Alex Stewart. He is staying at his uncle's place. He hears someone down on the beach. This is where he meets Devereaux. Sly wants her to work in his bar. She keeps trying to avoid him. She has been kidnapped. Cord and Seth are working together to find Cassidy who has been taken hostage. This book is amazing. There is a lot going on. I would recommend this series to everyone!!
Irish never ceases to amaze with her "on the edge of your seat" books! Seth and Dev did not disappoint...can you say WOW..HOT and STEAMY and not just because they were in Southern Florida! I stayed awake reading way past bedtime, not able to put it down because every time I tried there was another part I just had to find out what happened! I love Irish Winters books, every. damn. one of them and suggest that you do the same. I am not giving anything away in this review, you will have to read it and live it because, wow, you do not want to miss this action filled, sex filled, passionate love story with so many twists you will have to keep going. Excellent work once again Ms. Winters.....how about another?
Seth, Seth, Seth! Not even talking to a ghost would deter me from loving him!
Seth has finally come full circle from the day he lost his fiance, 5 years in the making. He has been self medicating in the worst ways that ultimately are driving him insane.
Dev has been putting everyone else in her life first for just as long as Seth has been self destructing.
When their two worlds collide again, they hang on and don't let go. Giving us one wild ride.
But, the unsuspecting darling if the story is Gru. Who has more live than a cat!
Irish delights us all once again by bringing our selfless heros back to say "Hi!" And reminds us of one delicious Sin brother we really need to get to know better. You just can't go wrong with anything she writes!
Seth is a man with a haunted past. After losing the love of his life he is thrust into depression. When Seth's uncle has a stroke he takes over caring for his island. When he meets Devereaux everything is turned around. Devereaux and her brother are involved in saving women enslaved in sex trafficking. Can Seth help save the women and save the women of his life after she is kidnapped? Irish winters has done it again. Another book to add to my favorites. From start to finish Seth keeps you hooked. I have received an advanced reader copy of Irish winters book Seth. I have given an honest review with out compensation.
Totally enjoy Irish Winters’ snipers book series, but the past few books are getting harder to “suspend reality” and go with the overly convoluted and unbelievable story lines. They go on forever with way too many bad guys and plot twists.
Loved Seth. Dev, not so much. Brother Cord, not at all.
Always enjoy Alex showing up.
Not sure what happened to Miguel who was shot in the beginning rescue. Trisha is mentioned as liking him, but nothing more develops. He was last seen recovering at Dev’s house along with the injured princess, but then he was forgotten.
You never know where a Sniper series book will take you. This time we are headed to the Florida Keys to meet Seth and Devereaux. It's a long journey for them between fighting the ghosts of his past and the demons kidnapping women for the sex slave business. This story is intense with a slow build until about the midpoint when everything picks up speed and doesn't stop. Each book involves a different agent with a new set of circumstances and a hot romance. Guaranteed you'll be hooked on this story. I received my copy from the author and wrote my review voluntarily.
Seth – “he was one drool-worthy male.” said Devereaux, a struggling single mother trying to raise her son right while helping her marine brother Cord rescue women and children from a human trafficking ring. I don’t know how she does it, but Irish Winters has just written a book about my newest favorite hero Seth. A page turner right from the beginning with enough twists to keep the reader up much too late at night and well worth the lost sleep. Every women needs a guardian angel like Seth in her life. A must read.
I'm sad this is the last story in the series. I've come to live all the men & women of The Team! I've laughed with them, cried with them & for them, & cheered each and every one on. Irish Winters has written one of the best series I think I have ever read. My father was a Marine and this series made me feel even more patriotic, sympathetic, and caring for what our military go thru each and every day they are deployed. And what they endure once they come home. Thank you Irish Winters!
I don't know how Irish Winters does it, this is book #17 and I am so much in love with her work. They just keep getting better and better. I always say this is my favorite one then she comes out with a new one. As of right now I have #17 favorite ones. Please keep these awesome books coming, and if you haven't read any of her books you really need to start because you have no idea just what you are missing! Thanks Irish!
Christy Bowerman I was so excited to read Seth's story! All of the books in this series stand alone, but reading through them brings you into the family that Irish Winters has created. Seth is a man you can depend on, with a heart of gold. Reading through his story, my heart broke along with his, but rejoiced when he found a woman and family that could make him whole again. I loved the characters, the action and the storyline!
The way Irish Winters writes makes you feel like you are there. This story has real life scary situations, mystery, humor and love. Two people both with painful pasts. One does her best to live and the other can't get past the heartache. I love all these stories, they are hard to put down and when your finished your ready for more. I was given an advanced reader copy and I voluntarily leave this review
This is another brilliant book by Irish Winters I want to be her when i grow up! Her writing style always draws me in and this book is no different I am always emotional when i read books in this Series as it is one of my favourites of all time. To be able to see old friends and make new ones is so enjoyable.
This book ripped my heart out with tears and then put it back together again. Do yourself a favour and get this book along with the others in the series
You know from the start the Seth must be something special to be on the TEAM. What you don't expect is the emotional wrenching that both Seth and Dev will give you by the time you finish this story. Seth starts out as a shell with lots of baggage. Dev is just a woman doing everything and giving everything. What an exceptional story that has not only suspense, action, intrigue, but the romance that we've come to beg for in the stories from Ms. Winters.
Never discount the quiet man. In this story Seth, yes quiet, almost bungling Seth, saves the day, the girl, the world. He roars back to life to be the man his boss always knew he could be. There is a pixie, a dragon, a child, a monster and a princess involved. A lot on anyone's plate, but Seth powers through to handle everything. Settle in to read this tale, but stay alert. Evil lurks everywhere.
Seth is book 17 In A Company Of Snipers by Irish Winters I love all of Irish Winters books there are amazing her books have made me laugh smile and cry and Seth is no exception It dragged me in so fast felt like was right there with Seth . If you haven’t read any of her books I hope you do read them and enjoy them as much as I have
Once again, Irish Winters gives us an action packed book with twists and turns galore. I believe Seth is my favorite hero. She gave him the right amount of toughness & tenderness. He reminds me of my hubby. Dev is the perfect girl to bring Seth back to the land of the living. She reawakens his tender & protective nature. Love always finds a way.
Wow! Every time I think this is wrapping up something happens and we are off and running. Glad to see Dev and Seth get things worked out. They both need a little happiness. This is my 17th book in this series. They have all been action packed with a bit of sex. I find them a great read.
This book has so much more going on than the summary could ever explain! This was an emotional roller coaster ride from the beginning, filled with heart-pounding action and adventure, yet another hit in the Snipers series.
This has to be the most intense and complicated book of the series. You were never sure where or who the bad guy was until he or she revealed themselves!! Definitely one of the best of the series! Irish Winters just gets better and better!!
