Retellings is always an interesting one. There is a base framework to work with, plot points to hit and incorporate, or perhaps ignore, depending on the style of the story, and expectations as to how it should go.

Of course, Cinderella and vampires, with an intriguing synopsis, and I was rather eager to read the story.

I have to say that I was not disappointed. It is light story, fast paced, checking off most of the main points of the fairy tale, but it was also cute and sweet and a lot of fun to read. I really liked it, and I was very much engrossed from start to finish, wanting to see how it all unfolded and how things would work out for Cin and Scarlet. It is told well, with enough hints about the setting to get a fair idea about it, and low on angst. And I really want to read some more about them, and I hope that Scarlet and Cin turn up in the second book (especially with the potential hint at the end), given that it wrapped up rather quickly.

All in all, well worth the read.

Cute

You can tell it is a rendition of the most told fairytale. Cin and Scarlet is a cute couple. The story is fast and it is hard to see any feelings truly grow. Their intimacy is fast and quite banal. Cin was worried about mundane things when a powerful princess vampire could have helped her easily and quickly when it came to her family and friends needing protection.

It was confusing that Scarlet was not able to follow the scent trail of Cin to be able to find her. She hunts by scent. And she has super hearing and all the other strengths known to vampires. It was weird that they needed a spell to find her. And also that she couldn’t hear her making noise when she was in search of her at her house.

Her parents were weirdly quiet when it came to their daughter. Allowing the Council to have their say and thy basically stepped aside to allow it.

Some stories shouldn’t be novellas unless you’re able to help move the readers. I wast really moved by the story. It had promise but didn’t really deliver.

New genre on a fairy tale, this one Cinderella likes the princess and not a prince!

Cin as she likes to be called has the typical greedy step mom and two daughters, one of the daughters even likes and defended her one time. But then Cin was not seen for three weeks. This Cinderella has a head on her shoulders. She inherited her the ability to help protect and heal. She does not know how but discovers it when she meets the princess in the woods and a crow swoops down to attack them and she destroys it.What follows? Enjoy!

3 stars. Interesting plot. The writing was repetitive though but I love a sapphic fairytale retelling. So while I wasn’t too impressed with this first book I am willing to read book two to see where things go. Cin and Scarlet were both interesting characters and I want to see how this author handles the other fairytales.

Soulmates

This is an adorable quick read; I liked seeing a new take on Cinderella; and seeing the relationship between her and Scarlett (the princess) was cute. I love that they have tension almost immediately and that Scarlett fights for Cin: also I’m kinda of wondering if the lady in black who has witchy powers is Cinderellas mom; as she mourns the loss of her husbands and told Cinderella she wouldn’t be the same if she saw her face. Now onto the next book :)

Alternative telling of Cinderella

I love reading the new telling of fables.
It’s wonderful to see how a writer can come up with a new way but it’s the same story.
Thank you Alana Archer you told this story very well and I loved every word.
Highly recommend this to anyone who loves fables.

Like so many other writers that have ventured into the realm of fairy tales this writer has deviated in the sapphic paranormal and done so quite satisfyingly!
I enjoyed this tale very much! 12 doz🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

I loved this dark, vampiric retelling of Cinderella with the love interests both being female.

If you love the fated mates trope, the supernatural and acts of heroism, then you will enjoy this book!

Love the series

Slow burn, not alot of spice, to much focus on stepmums things etc. A 3🌟 but could have been a intense lovestory.
