It’s the onset of polar night in Alaska and trucker Marshall Westray is looking forward to six weeks’ downtime. But first he has to negotiate 498 miles of frozen wilderness hauling his load down the deadly Dalton Highway from Deadhorse to Fairbanks. He needs everything to go smoothly but his plans come unravelled at his first stop when he discovers a half-naked man in the back of his cab. Stowaway Luka is all sorts of easy on the eye and has a ready sob-story that Marshall is appalled to hear. He’ll lose his job if his hitchhiker’s discovered but try as he might, he just can’t shake free of Luka and he’s not sure he wants to.
Luka Hartwell has never been loved in his life. Running from a dangerous situation in Deadhorse, he sees Marshall’s truck as his sanctuary and doesn’t think of the consequences. When the trucker finds Luka in his bed, sparks fly. Luka will do whatever it takes to make sure he gets that ride to Fairbanks and offering Marshall his body isn’t exactly a hardship when the trucker is as smoking hot as Marshall. Thrown together for hours of treacherous driving, will the two men find solace at the end of a long, lonely road?
“You light up polar night like a beacon to show me the way.”

Short story set in Alaska with a trucker and a sneaky, down on his luck stowaway.
Instalove/instacrush type story with a little bit of drama and a hypothermia scare.
The guy glared at him, the lines of his lean body all tense and ready for fight-or-flight. “I said I’m not a fucking rent boy, okay? But if sucking your cock gets me to Fairbanks, then I’m your rent boy.”
Cute, short , insta lovey/lusty but not bad.. Longer, more developed and a bit of slow burn and it would have been a great book because I loved the premise and the meet cute and the MCs were interesting (and the writing wasn’t bad at all) . I would have liked more of them but the book was rushed and short..
Caught is the second book in the Cold Love series. Caught was a fantastic read! Luka is a stowaway. Marshall discovers Luka in the back of his cab. This features one of my favorite troupes, forced proximity! Luka is running from a danger. They both needed to get out their heads, they both think the other is taking payment for something. I liked the insta connection, love. Overall, a fantastic read. Really well written with pacing that caught me and didn’t let me go.
Caught is a difficult one to define. Forced proximity for sure, but I didn't feel like they were enemies. There was some animosity for luka putting marshall's job at risk but it was more of a one sided dislike until Marshall was rude and mean.
They have an instant connection and I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between the pair.
Both main characters are flawed abd this made it realistic and gritty. Sometimes it was difficult to root for them but they soon won me round.
As before, I enjoyed the writing style and book 3 sounds interesting
This is the second in the Cold Love series but could easily be read as a standalone. This is similar to the first book in that it's forced proximity but other than that it's quite different.
Sometimes when I'm reading I want to knock the MC's heads together and tell them to get over themselves and just talk to each other, and that's how I felt here. I get that Marshall was scared of losing his job at the start as he's not supposed to pick up hitch hikers, but the connection between him and Luka was instant, perhaps because he was so lonely. I kind of wish we'd found out more about both Luka and Marshall, we really know very little of their back story other than the events that brought Luka to stow away on the truck in the first place.
The ending felt a little rushed, insta-love isn't my thing (yes I realise it's probably just me), and Marshall seemed all to keen to drop everything for someone he barely knew. That said, once they got past themselves and got together I really liked them as a couple - the heat was certainly there and they both surely deserve their happiness.
I'm so looking forward to the 3rd book as I've been assured it's the best of the series 😉
Love makes fools of people. Scarlet's book provided a lot of evidence of that. The beginning of her MC's relationship was laced with mistrust, instant lust, jealousy, and many misunderstandings. While I was getting deeper into their story, I huffed and puffed about how stubborn both men were: the minute one of them would make a step forward, the other would backtrack and leave, ugh!!! And don't forget the painful longing both of them go through and you would scream too, as I did. They are so stubborn, but finally, Marchall decided that he's done with his unfulfilled, empty life and realized he found his person and that it would require some begging and groveling to get him back. Also, Luca hasn't had this easy, he was in an abusive relationship and it was hard for him to believe that Marshall is different, especially how Marchall treated him after their first meeting. And I was scared that Luca will get hurt, during his attempts to hitch another ride and the poor thing almost died trying... The book is filled with angst, and really dramatic situations, but in the end, they finally stare their destiny in the eyes and let love blossom. I love this book and I know, you would love it too! Another great writing from Scarlet!
I am very glad I had the opportunity to read Scarlet Blackwell’s “Captured” which was a very good read before reading “Caught”. Never thought I would enjoy reading stories that takes place in Alaska but I do now! This story wasn’t intense like the first story and an easy reading this time which was very nice! The first story takes place in a remote cabin while this one takes place in an ice truck in the Arctic circle.
This story is about Marshall, a trucker transporting stuff to and from Fairbanks, Alaska. At the time of the story, he was transporting stuff to Fairbanks from a small town named Deadhorse (an actual town…I googled it). On one stop, he had gone out during a potty break and came back in to find a naked guy in his bed in the cab. That naked guy was Luka and he was a stowaway. Apparently he was running from something. Marshall had a mind to kick him out due to insurance violation if he had something/someone not on the truck manifest. But he did not. I’m going to stop right here and have you pick up the book to read to find out what happens and the reason why Luka was running away. An easy and enjoyable read!
CAN A TRUCKER AND A STOWAWAY FIND LOVE ON THE DEADLY DALTON HIGHWAY ?
The second book of the steamy enemies to lovers in a close proximity series revolves around a long distance trucker in Alaska, Marshall Westray and a sexy stowaway on his truck, Luka Hartwell who is running away from his past...
"Goldilocks, I presume?"
I loved Marshall's sense of humour regarding Luka, but in the beginning he did not treat Luka very cordially, however their chemistry was ice melting hot and they could not help but fall in lust with each other on that cold, lonely, deadly Dalton highway...
Their dynamic was enemies at first sight but changed as the story progressed as an incident occurred to open Marshall's eyes and heart to what he could have in the future with Luka...
"Because you light up polar night like a f**king beacon to show me the way."
Was it only meant to be one night of steam or were their paths meant to cross again?
Thank you to the author and BookSirens for entrusting me with this ARC!

The second book in the Cold Lake series and I’m not exactly sure what to think. The intensity was lacking in this one, but the intimacy sort of made up for lack of the latter. Still unsure of how to classify it, whether it be enemies to lovers or forced proximity, either way, it just doesn’t hit the same as Captured.
Luka and Marshall’s connection was a definite slow burn, forced at times in my personal opinion. But , their chemistry was sizzling hot 🥵! The banter was either hostile or flirtatious, there’s no middle ground with these characters. And, I felt as though Luca was looking for a handout, even though he never realized.
Oh my, so fantastic! I throughly enjoyed this read beginning to end. For me this book was better than book 1 in the series. Luka and Marshall drove me crazy trying to decide the reason they slept together. Marshall thinking Luka did it because he gave him a ride in his truck. Luka thinking Marshall did it because he was only taking payment for the ride. Luka's self belief that he wasn't good enough and no one would stick around to love him broke my heart. But Marshall sticks around and tells him he is worthy. This book has one of the best sex scenes I've ever read! So beautifully written Scarlet.
“Love you some more. For as long as you let me. Love you with my heart, my body, my soul.” 🥰

I really liked the first book in this series, Captured (my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...), so I was hoping for better than a decent love story.
And this was decent, just not great. Also, aside from the fact that both these stories take place in Alaska, they seem to have nothing in common, so I'm not sure why the author decided they were part of a series.
This is definitely a forced proximity, enemies to lovers story. It's a cute lightweight story of two very stubborn men with instant lust-attraction, mistrust, lack of communication between the lonely Marshal and Luka with a difficult past. It was enjoyable. I received this book as An Advanced Reader's Copy.
This is the second Book in this COLD LOVE SERIES. Marshall is a Truck Driver in the dangerous wilds of Alaska. It's not recommended for the faint of heart. Luka is a young man on the run. These two take each other by surprise. Circumstances seem to be against them. After a journey back to civilization comes to an end, they're both ready to bail. Was it all a dream. These two men are stubborn to a fault. Don't worry there's a HEA, it's just the path of resistance. Scarlett Blackwell is a must read Author. Her stories are engaging with never a dull moment. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS AMAZING COLD LOVE SERIES!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so in love with Scarlet Blackwell's writing. Caught is my second book of hers and I've been captivated from the beginning.
In Caught, I would focus more on the hurt) comfort trope rather than the enemies to lovers one. The emotions as I read Luka's backstory - I just teared up for him. And Marshall is just so real and true to me. They're so perfect together and I just love them together.
A different kind of story for me in one way, but the usual mm romance as well. I never thought I'd read about long haul trucking in the freezing depths of Alaska, but this was a very unique experience, truck driver vs sneaky hitchhiker. The battle of wills and temptation are rampant and it made for a bloody good tale.
I am really enjoyingthis series. Luka and Marshall are both at low points in their lives (Luka much more than Marshall) but their meeting changes them. Once I got started, I couldn't put it down until I found out how things ended up for them. Definitely worth reading.
I question whether this is enemies to lovers or forced proximity, either way it was a good book. I didn't like it as much as I liked the first but it was still decent.
Thank you to the author for giving me an arc copy of this book. This was the cutest enemies to lovers Mm book I’ve read in a while. The perfect amount of tension between the make characters and I love how Luka stood his ground against Marshall when Marshall realised he has messed up. If you’re look for a cute quick enemies to lovers Mm read this is book for you.
