The Healthy Housekeeper shows readers how to get in the cleaning mood and how to make a cleaning kit. Offers techniques used by pros to clean better and more efficiently—how to clean smarter not harder. Describes old-fashioned remedies that are wrong, dangerous, and ineffective. Information on how to give a house a 10-minute emergency clean before visitors arrive.
I didn't think this book was that helpful. I felt like she repeated the same things over and over and I wanted more details on how to do clean quicker. The only helpful information that I liked was her recommendation to use micro-fiber cloths for cleaning. Costco was having a sale so I picked them up and I have loved them. If anyone has any helpful books on this subject I would appreciate any info.
This book wasn’t for large families so it wasn’t very helpful. I did find one cleaning product recommendation that I liked. Most of her ideas would be easily found in a blog post. The key to her plan for cleaning fast was keeping the products and tools to a short list and having all of them with you when you enter the room to clean.
Has a lot of tips. Covers a wide variety of cleaning scenarios with easy solutions using common household products. Natural homemade cleaning solutions recipes. Declutering and organizational ideas. Motivational tips. Tips for quick cleaning if you're in a hurry, fall/spring cleaning. An overall nice pleasant book to flip through. I find the contents itself are pleasing and motivating.
i feel very mixed on this one... on the one hand, there's some good cleaning advice in there, but paired with a confusing and bossy organisation section and the author's grating sense of humour, i'm not sure i could wholeheartedly recommend this to someone
at the very least, the presentation is nice, and the text is easy on the eyes
don't laugh! So it's quick, thorough and I didn't know how to clean. I mean, I know how (don't blame my parents here!) just not quickly, or very well for that matter. (Ex: all you Method lovers out there, I know, it smells sooo nice, but it doesn't disinfect! what?! I know! good for cleaning/bad for kitchen counters) Now that we are in a much smaller place, I decided there's no excuse. Maybe other people know more about this stuff than I do! The tips are all fairly simple, but they add up and just trying to remember the steps and tips while I'm cleaning makes me less bored. ok, now you can laugh...
Um, a book about cleaning? I wish this actually would turn me into a speed-cleaner. Alas, I am still a mother with too much cleaning and too little time. I did enjoy the section where she explained how to clean each room, step-by-step; also, the suggestions for "basic cleaning" each week. But I think I'll never get to her "deep cleaning" level.
Perhaps this wasn't the best book to read while I am in my nine-month-pregnant nesting stage. After reading it, I obsessed over scrubbing my cabinets and dusting my corners and light bulbs.
This is a how-to book I got for free thanks to the wonder of the internet. As you would expect, the book is about how to efficiently clean your house. I chose it because I also have a goal to clean up my house and keep it clean. Dellutri has worked in the professional cleaning service for years, and she has gleaned many great ideas. Quick read with many great ideas. Facts like where the worst bacteria homes are in the house (kitchen sponge and refrigerator door) as well as how to clean efficiently (side-to-side strokes, not circular motions).
Unfortunately, I picked up this book the same time as I picked up Speed Cleaning by Jeff Campbell, and it just doesn't measure up. I didn't finish reading it because I didn't feel the need to. Written in some what of a meandering style, it didn't make me feel "the need for speed." Probably some good tips, but why read this when you can read Speed Cleaning in way less time?
This has simple yet great tips. It's also a good book for those that like to use fewer chemicals in their home, not that it's chemical free, but doesn't promote products for each thing, just a few basic products. I totally recommend this to all people who have to clean their homes, even those that don't want to.
I've actually got this on hold at the library for a re-read! She's got great ideas for better efficiency and speed when doing the dreaded housework. She's realistic about time and discusses preferred products and unique ways to use them. Quick and helpful read!
Some good tips. I didn't find a lot of time saving ideas in the book though. A bit repetitious and I found some of the organizing tips would be more work than I wanted to invest in, and probably wouldn't save me any time.
GREAT format and user friendly layout. Easy to flip through for quick speed cleaning ideas. Do not like her homemade recipes though. They did not work.
Laura Dellutri shares her professional cleaning secrets with you so that you can spend less of your precious time cleaning. There is some good information in the book.
