Sometimes the perfect person for you is who you least expect it to be.
Luv Washington is everything she was raised to be, the daughter of Bishop Mark Washington and First Lady Debrah Washington. She has a successful career as a middle school teacher. She mentors young girls and is an active member of her church. She owns her own condo and she's in a relationship with a God fearing, handsome Christian man. She appears to have everything she ever wanted.
The problem is she is missing everything she needs: passion and love. . .
Then she meets Trap. After five chance encounters, the guy that she has been warned about her whole life turns her world upside down. Unknowingly, she does the same for him. They both possess the love and passion that the other is missing.
He's an unexpected surprise and their chemistry leads to an unexpected love.

She’s a Preacher’s Kid and he’s a Trap nîgga! Your would think that being from two different completely different worlds that they wouldn’t have much in common but as we all know opposites attract and baby these two were like magnets to metal! The way Luv and Trap’s love took off was everything!! Once he knew he wanted her it was a wrap!
I loved both Luv and Tree as well as Tree and Trap’s relationship. The way they doted on and spoiled her was everything! This book was juicy af and I was not expecting all of the twists and turns we got!
The plot twist with Trap was so unexpected! I did NOT see that coming!
Was Darren crazy or was Darren mf crazy 🥴🥴 whew I knew he was on bs the entire time with his scary àss!!
I loved that Shawna was dealt with expeditiously! Trap shut that down with the quickness and it was done without affecting him and Luv’s relationship.
We love a good sisterhood and Clarissa and Luv’s bond was a breath of fresh air!
We need a lil spin off from Amari and Tree! That epilogue wasn’t nearly enough!
Per usual you did ya thing Charity! I needed this after Snow Queen 😩
Luv is a preacher’s kid who has followed the path mapped out for her by her parents. She’s a beloved and respected eighth grade teacher and she’s been dating her childhood best friend for the last ten years. Lately, Luv is craving more out of her relationship with Darren but he refuses to listen to her concerns and brushes them off. When he goes against her wishes and tries to force an engagement in front of their families, Luv has finally had enough and breaks up with Darren. A recurring nightmare keeps Trap awake and sleep out of his reach most nights. While out at IHOP late one night, he spies someone across the restaurant that immediately captures his attention. As a kind gesture, he pays for the group’s food then leaves. This is the start of multiple run ins for these two and, after the fifth time running into each other, Luv and Trap decide its fate that they keep orbiting into one another’s space. I loved everything about this book. Luv and Trap were your quintessential opposites attract. Both of them come from different worlds. I mean she’s a preacher’s kid and he’s a drug dealer so, you couldn’t get any more different than that. But, they fit so well and, surprisingly, have more in common than you would think. And, with Tree being the common denominator and pushing for Luv and Trap to be together, fate said y’all gon’ get this love story whether you want it or not. Speaking of Tree, Charity, sis, girlfriend we NEED an update on her and Amari. That lil tidbit you gave us in the epilogue didn’t do nothin’ but tease us and had us cravin’ more from Tree and Amari. Please put us out of our misery and give us the update we’re beggin’ for. Unexpected Love was an opposites attract done right. Luv and Trap were an amazing couple and proved you don’t have to be from the same background to find love and make it work.
Charity does NOT disappoint and Trap was everything. Who knew one encounter and the universe would lead to unexpected love. Enjoyed from start to finish!!!!!
This is my second book by this author. The title most definitely fits this book. I don’t know how Luv was with that man for 10 years and the sex was horrible. I’m sorry but I couldn’t do it. I know Darren wasn’t too bright upstairs. I’m not going to lie I thought Trap momma was dead too. I didn’t understand why she didn’t try to reconnect with her son. The real gag was that crazy ass brother..but you have to read this book for yourself to follow the tea. I really enjoyed this book
This is a true love story🥰. Charity Shane' you haven't written anything that I've read that I don't love. Unexpected Love is a great title for this book. You can find love in the oddest places. I love this book simply because the things in it can actually happen. I'm glad that the main characters found love with each other. I can't wait to read Tree's story. She does have a story right🤔? No, I haven't looked that far yet. Just read the damn book.
I adored Trap and Luv! The way he talked, the way he moved with his family and Luv, he was so smooth with it. He gave big softie vibes with a healthy dose of kick the door in and shoot first! For Luv to be a Preacher’s kid, I was shocked by how okay she and her whole family were with Trap! I expected more judgment. I really enjoyed their random encounters, the date to the drive-in, the picnic. They weren’t afraid to give each other space, talk things out. How they fell in love was so gentle and I loved it!
It’s the people that were unexpected for me. That damn daddy and his antics at Thanksgiving can go straight to hell! When mama handed Trap the obituary for Raymond my jaw literally dropped. I knew the odd things with the TV and car were Darren but I didn’t expect him to go all fatal attraction “in this life or the next.” every single person in this book had an effect on me and that is what I loved the most!
The proverbial good church girl has her life already planned out for her. She’s a middle school teacher and being a PK the Bishop has already approved her longtime boyfriend Darren to be her husband. Yet, her relationship has no passion. No spark. She doesn’t love him and refuses to marry him no matter how many times he asks.
Trap is a big time drug dealer. He’s not looking for love, but as soon as he lays eyes on Luv and her dark chocolate skin…he’s a goner. He never realized that her presence in his life will not only take over his heart, but heal him of his past traumas.
This was such a good story. It kept me on edge with all the twists and turns, but so glad they got their HEA.
First of all Darren!! I totally did not expect that bs he pulled. What kind of switch had to have been flicked in his brain for him to move that way!! 🤔
I loved that we did not really see anything too negative about Traps choice of career, really allowed us to focus on their love story. And also the pastor's kid trope did not affect their progress.
Sometimes timeline was a bit confusing but it was easy to figure out down the line. Great book
Travis “Trap” Richards & Luvella “Luv” Washington, wheeewww child! Once you get around them being from two totally different worlds, they made an amazing couple! I love the relationships that were sustained and built throughout the entire book.
You shined a light on these hypocritical church folks, baybeeeehhhh! Darren was crazy as a Cuckoo bird! I can’t believe that he acted that way after being dumped. The fact that he still tried to propose to her, broke into her home on multiple occasions, had spyware installed on her phone, what in the crazy house was the matter with him! Luv should have let Trap put a hot one in him for sure! I’m glad Luv’s dad finally came accepted Trap, but I feel like it took him hearing everything that Darren had done to make that switch. However, better late then never! How cute was Tree and Amari’s blossomed relationship? I knew they would end up together! This story was definitely different, but I loved it! The only part I have an issue with is the fact that after the kidnapping I feel like the road to recover for both Luv and Tree was completely skipped over. I feel like there was a lot missing about that, which would take it to 4.5 ⭐️’s for me. Other than this needed a part 2 or a spin off with Tree & Amari, you know how to tell a story ma’am 👏🏾👏🏾 bravo!
I almost stoped reading this book, I’m glad I didn’t. I don’t usually read urban style stories, this wasn’t really that, just some elements of it. Luv and Trap were so sweet together and I loved the story!
This was such a beautiful love story. Also very relatable. I loved how Trap loved Luv. Charity Shane is an amazing author and I can’t wait to read more of her catalog!
WOW! All sorts of shocking secrets and betrayal in this heart thumping story. It was like an out of control freight train, and a whole lot of people crashed in this bad boy!
Luv Washington is not only a "Pastor's Kid", she is a middle school teacher whose students love and respect her. So her keen sense of right and wrong is sorely tested when she falls for Travis (Trap). At one point, Luv states, she knows she's in love with a street hustler and they live two different lifestyles. Yes, but Trap's lifestyle is not only dangerous, it's deadly. Of course, that may be just what they need when Luv's ex boyfriend totally loses his mind!
Luv and Trap are the perfect example of opposites attract. Love the way their love grew.
Luv was not my favorite character at first. She seemed pretentious and that’s a turn off but getting deeper into who she is and what she does it totally makes sense why she had to have that RBF attitude. Show me an educator who isn’t a bit moody going back to work after a break !?!
Trap was your typical hood boy. A soft hood boy. He really does have good intentions. He is so jaded by his past flings, his childhood trauma, his inability to fully trust that communication is not his strong suit.
Overall this was a fun read. I will say some parts seemed rushed and the transitions seemed quick and other parts it seemed long winded. That’s why I rated 4 stars.
This story is heart gripping , engaging and entertaining. I thought, I was reading a 500 page book, so much happens in this book , so many themes are explored in this book and some good life lessons are shared through this book too. You will love the main characters Trap(Travis) and Luv and you would love their love for each too. Great read. Honestly I thoroughly enjoyed this story !
Wow Darren was crazy frfr I kinda knew as time went on he was going to show how crazy he really was ..
But I really enjoyed Love between Luv & Trap They both feel hard for one another didn't let nothing or nobody come between them and happiness
And love Trap and his family and how protective he was about his sister now I would like an update on the sister and Amir looks like she gonna get her happiness with him ..
I switched between reading the paperback and the ebook. I enjoyed the story and the chaos in the plot. Something was always happening making for great twist and turns. What girl wouldn’t want a guy that would k i l l for them. Trap was protective of all his women and if your are his you know it. Luv’s love was tested rolling with a bad boy. Fun read I would definitely recommend.
Another good read! A different kind of read but still good. I usually do romance novels that don’t involve the street/hood stuff but this was cool. I kinda felt bad for Darren because his heart probably was broken. He was a man of God and his heart probably was shattered. He also didn’t make much sense to be sleeping with luv but wouldn’t accommodate her the way she wanted him to.
Expect the unexpected but with resolute confidence each book always “creating feelings with words” deep in my soul 🥰‼️Yup, it’s another fantastic literary contribution from Ms. Shanè‼️”Unexpected Love” 🤩was the one stop shop journey you (I) didn’t want to explore but relished in all of its serendipitous intricacies & only left cause ain’t no more darn pages 🤭🤷🏾♀️🍿‼️I enjoyed😊 even the frustrating moments🫣‼️
I loved everything about this book! The meet-cute, the timeline, and the couple. Luv and Trap are opposites but they fit so well! The good girl and bad doy trope always hit! I also liked Tree's character and Darren was a hot mess! I would definitely recommend this book.
I LOVE ME Some Travis 'TRAP' Richards, He's Too Damn Cool For Me, But I Truly Love The Relationship With Trap & Luv Because They Balanced Each Other Out To The "T"!!!!!!! Great Read💯💢💯
How lovely. I enjoyed reading this. Happy for the relationship between Trap and Luv. They fit like a,glove. Interesting events throughout the book. A good read!
First read by this author and I am impressed. I live in Memphis so the Memphis references were so cool to read about and spot in👏🏽👏🏽
Trap was definitely bae 🥵! Once he got some Luv, he fell hard and fast. I was so happy when Luv got her first O😂😂😂. I knew Darren was going to be a problem with his crazy self😡. I never would have guessed the whole deal with Raymond😱. Very unpredictable. Lastly, I loved the bond Luv had with Trap’s lil sis. It would be cool to get an update on her!! Great job and I’ll definitely check this authors catalog out.👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽👍🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
I really like this book! I didn’t want it to end!! It was good from start to finish! This was my first time reading from this author, but not my last!!
Unexpected drama kept the pages turning. I liked Luv being a millennial version of a PK. Darren was red flags from the introduction and Trap was it...PERIODT!
Luv know she pissed me off when she first meets Trap at iHop. She assumed he wanted something from her in exchange for paying for her and her friends meal. She was rude for no reason and although she was the one who caught his attention she was vain to assume that she was the one he was interested in. Fast forward to their second meet she was more pleasant because she needed something from him and then started to see him in a different light from that encounter she couldn’t get him off her mind.
I love the relationship the two developed they really were perfect for each other and balanced each other well. Trap was soft when it came to Luv and his baby sister and I loved the relationship between them as well. I love how Luv’s mom was so accepting of him despite her being into church and him being in the streets.
Darren was a special kind of crazy and Luv was too naive when it came to him because she felt she just knew him because they had years in. That man was clearly scorned and unhinged and I’m just glad Trap was able to save her.
This was a really good read; a sweet and cute unexpected Luv story !!
Luv started off being horrible toward Trip. Overtime they kept running into each other and she loosened up. She caught a flat and he was there to change her tire. He went to get his sister from school and Luv is her teacher. Being around each other so much they started to love one another. I was so proud of Luv for doing what was best for her and end her relationship with Darren. She would have been miserable if she stayed with him and married him. I still dislike her father for taking Darren side without even talking to his daughter. The Thanksgiving dinner was too much for me. But Trip handle that. Told Luv to eat and don’t trip. When Darren true self came out I just knew Trip was gone end him. I was shocked to find out Raymond was his brother. I just wish he was able to get him to talk more for Wazir ended him. But he got what he deserved. Now I just hope we find out how Tree and Amari are doing..
Trap was NOT what I expected… and I loved every second of it.
Going into this, I thought he’d be your typical street dude—reckless, fast-moving, probably toxic. But Trap was a whole businessman with just enough hood in him to keep it interesting. Legit with a sprinkle of illegit, if you know what I mean. And then we got Luv—the ultimate PK (preacher’s kid), raised to be the perfect church girl with the “perfect” God-fearing man by her side. But let’s be real—Darren wasn’t HIM. He wasn’t bringing the passion.
And let’s talk about her daddy. Typical pastor, mad that his daughter chose love over tradition. But why is it always “God’s plan” when it benefits them? Luv was finally choosing herself, and he couldn’t handle it. Now, Trap? He had standards. He wasn’t thirsty, wasn’t chasing just any woman, and he definitely wasn’t about to let Shawna play in his face. 😂 And Trevia? She was the glue this story needed. Their bond was real, and adding her just made everything hit deeper.
This book had chemistry, passion, and two people from opposite worlds colliding in the best way. Charity Shane’ snapped with this one! If you love forbidden love, breaking traditions, and a man that applies pressure without being over the top, this is your read!
Honestly, the names of the characters were kind of too 2000s ideas for me. But Trap and Tree were kindness overload once you got to know them. And then Luv was just lovely all around. The street side I try to overlook, as I have no frame of reference. I can, however, relate to a brother loving his little sister and wanting what's best for her. I can relate to loving parents wanting the same. I was sure Darren, the ex, had a point to make and would show his natural black @ soon enough. I liked the happily ever after for everyone. A good read; I rated it 3.5 stars...
