Trigger warnings: surprise pregnancy, violence (mentioned briefly), infidelity (not by MCs).
I did like this novel.
For one thing, the FMC was strong. Despite having ties to a place she hates, people who she considers immoral and a father and mother who never cared - she’s sure proven herself to be resilient and strong no matter what. Specially when carving out a place for herself in the world of law.
Now our hero has some issues. Doing a job he hates, defending people he loathes - he doesn’t have much time for a life or anything else worth enjoying.
But fresh secrets unravelled coupled with amazing chemistry from a woman of his past, it’s sure to be an office place romance that’ll heat the kindle for sure.
But I did have a few issues.
For one - the constant s** - now I love a good steamy scene. But I felt it hindered communication between them so much. About a lot of important things like relationships, having a family, battling insecurities and healing from their pasts. I felt the plot was entirely overlooked at times due to the s** being more favoured instead.
Dumb decisions - some people with still loathe you. But they don’t notice it - not at all. They’ll keep going back for more insult and abuse. Sigh. Also the fact that I wish they had cared just a teeny bit about starting an office place relationships - specially when nowadays it’s considered taboo to have one with an employee - and for right reasons too. I wish they had cared more about it.
The drama - there was so much unnecessary drama for other things. But for critical things like their relationship - the drama was nonexistent. I felt at least - that aspect should’ve had more drama.
But I guess in an Insta-love office place age gap relationship - you kinda don’t overly stretch the limits.
Oh well. Maybe I’ll like her novels a bit more.

This age-gap enemies to lovers romance hits a lot of the right notes. The story is fascinating and believable. Alessia and Rocco had one date many years ago and it did not go well. She applies for and is given the job of assistant to Rocco at his law firm. They start a relationship but there are many twists and turns on the way to happily ever after. In the forefront is Rocco's distrust of anything mafia related and Alessia's mafia ties make it really hard for him to trust her.
The relationship between these two is weird at times but I was rooting for them. The characters have motivations for what they do but like always, a lot could have been resolved if they just talked to each other.

Taking A Stand For Love -
Rocco didn’t understand the connection he felt with Alessia during the interview and even though he later discovered why she felt familiar, he couldn’t ignore the sparks that was between them. Unfortunately, not everyone was happy with them being together and tried to cause friction in their relationship. Ultimately, it would take Alessia taking a stand to give Rocco the confidence to go after what he wants.
This is an emotionally moving romance story about life choices, with a mafia twist. I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest as I turned the pages, but my heart finally settled down by the time I read the final word. It was an awesome story, that you will definitely enjoy reading.

This was a great story, well written and a quick read. Alessia is a lawyer and if something goes wrong it is that you as a mafia daughter look for work as a lawyer, especially if you do that at Rocco's company. The chemistry and attraction between them is clearly palpable. Despite the fact that Rocco has trouble trusting someone, they nevertheless develop a relationship that also leaves an unexpected present. What happens when her mafia family finds out and goes after them? And will they come out as the winner or is this the end of their love and relationship? To get answers to all those questions, I recommend that you read this book is highly recommended.

I loved the fact that Alessia is such a strong and independent woman who wants to make her own name and not have it belong to the mafia.
Rocco a dedicated lawyer and more dedicated to his family to not follow his dreams, let’s things said get to him and refuses to trust Alessia.
Their connection was instant and quick.
I loved the HEA and knowing they followed their hearts and what they wanted in the end.
I’d love to learn more about their future and even their family backgrounds.

This is a new author for me but I did enjoy reading this book.
I did get a bit frustrated at times due to the lack of trust but overall a good read.
