Lady Anastasia joined the English season for only one reason: marry a rich man, to help her family off of their debts. Everyone warns her to stay away from the rakes, but she bumps into the worst one of them all…
Gabriel Williams, the Duke of Clovervale, has certain rules that he follows in order to remain the worst rake of London. Number one: don’t be involved with wallflowers. Yet, he finds himself falsely betrothed to one.
It was meant to last for only a few weeks. However, during that period, he proceeds to break every one of his rules for Anastasia, including his most sacred one: never fall in love…

What a bummer there was so little done for the story in terms of editing! Good plot, good chemistry, and just the right amount of naughty. The typos included misspellings of the main character’s name, the wrong tenses, and occasional sloppy word choice which was all very distracting. I pushed through because the story was so engaging, but this could have been such a good reading experience otherwise.
This book was well-written and a pleasure to read. Ana and Gabriel were a great couple. I also adored the relationship between Gabriel and his friend David. The two of them were rakehells of the worst sort. Their antics and witty banter really livened up the story. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the story of David and Victoria in the next book.
The story is enjoyable, if one likes steamy regency romance. There were lots of errors both grammatical and syntactical that could have been fixed by a good proofreader. Errors and typos are distracting when one is trying to enjoy a story.
HE will NEVER STRAY FROM THE LIST - UNTIL HE FORGETS IT
LADY ANASTASIA - Loved her parents very much and needs to marry wealthy Lord in order to save them.
GABRIEL WILLIAMS - DUKE OF CLOVER NOTORIOUS RAKE Had his set of rules. His first rule is NEVER become involved with a wallflower, never get serious, love them then LEAVE THEM - these rules have been his life and works well. UNTIL NIGHT HE MEETS ANASTASIA.
I LOVED THIS GABRIEL IS BRILLIANT THE INTERACTION WITH HIM AND ANNA IS MAGICAL. GREAT CHARACTERS IN THIS STORY LOTS OF UPS AND DOWNS. GREAT READ.
Confirmed bachelor Duke and #1 rakehell of London encounters daughter of country Baron and instant attraction for both. Despite his list of rules he has lived by since a teen, Gabriel can't ignore his attraction to Anastasia nor can she him. After being"caught" coming in together from the garden during a ball, a courtship begins. As story progresses rule after rule is broken by the Duke...yet it's a fake courtship or is it? A delightful read and interesting characters, I recommend the book.
I guess it’s hard with so many regency novels to keep coming up with new plots but “determined never to marry lord” whose determination is knocked aside by the beautiful female lead, along with fake courting or engagement, seems to be overdone, and while I enjoyed Gabriel and Ana’s story, it was not as well done as some others. I think it needed more tension than the one small attempt to ruin them, which came and went in a couple of pages with no prior build up.
This is actually for A Dukes Unwanted Temptation in a new series but I am making sure I place it here until the book is placed in Goodreads.
It was an okay story just rather boring. Its the first book in a new series I guess called unwanted wives.
The hero left her alone on the day they married because he didn't want to love her. He never cheated or anything because he loved her. She moved and he came after her but not because of that. He decided he wanted her. Just odd.
Brilliant story which I totally loved and would thoroughly recommend. Can this country girl change a rake? I hope that others enjoy reading this book and are enthralled with it as much as I was.
Grbrial is a duke and Anastasia is the daughter of a Earl He never wanted to marry but he had rules for himself and broke them all for Anastasia The pair has those that want them apart but love wins a well written story Short and sweet
I enjoyed the concept of this story. Unfortunately, I felt that the story wrapped itself up rather quickly! There were editorial errors all through the book, which I could not ignore and spoilt the flow, and therefore, the reading experience. A quick read!
Very well written antiquated romantic quick read. I totally loved it and couldn't put my Kindle down until finished. Would love to read more like these.
Beautifully enjoyable story of a pair of individuals who unknowingly accept each other, presenting as a reminder of the rule "life changes positively when the right person comes in"!
