Poison and Antidote is an empathetic collection of poetry which has two main themes: Poison which describes guilt, self-doubt, insecurity, betrayal and other dark realities of life and Antidote which explores self-reflection, acceptance, self-love, healing and growth.
The poems relate to the reader and help validate their feelings during tough times. They give strength to challenge life and inspire readers to be more self-reflecting and self-loving.
“I’m rising from the ashes stronger than before. The same fire that destroyed me will burn me no more.”
Samyukta B is currently pursuing CSE in Bengaluru. She’s an avid book reader and her favorite genres are fantasy, romance and contemporary. Writing has always been a part of her life since she was young. In her free time, she loves expressing herself through prose and poetry.
This is my debut poetry book and I have written it with a desire to share my journey of life, with the hope that it will touch and inspire every reader in some way. Each poetry piece in this book had a deep connection to me, since they are experiences that I have gone through or that my loved ones have.
Fall, Rise and find yourself! This is the main theme of the book.
As the title says: Poison - which kills you slowly from the inside and describes dark realities in life Antidote - it helps you heal from the poison internally, it's a slow process but it helps you rebuild yourself stronger than before
The first two chapters are about Poison. Through her words, she talks about the mistakes and struggles a person faces in the early stages of his/her life. I, personally, like the second chapter, "Under the Dark Clouds", because it shows us the mistakes that we have made and also makes you question, why you are in the present situation?
Third and fourth chapters are like Antidote. It helps you go through the journey of self-reflection and makes you rise from the past in different ways.
Fourth chapter, "Rising Above" is also my personal favorite since it helps you find yourself. I love the first and last poems of this chapter. You start to find yourself when the angel takes your hand in hers, in the "Devil and Angel" poem and finally complete the puzzle of finding yourself in the "Photo Album" poem.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes poetry. To the people who are new to poetry, this book will make you fall in love with it.
