After constant moving, Chihiro and Haoran may have settled down, which means a house-warming party. This sudden sense of "normalcy" is a little strange for the two of them as their lives are far from it. Whether it's the scars all over Haoran's body or the violent people in their past, finding moments of peace is their only solace in life today. -

I am so scared for their happiness. I'm so afraid something bad is going to happen in the next volume. They were so fucking happy in this volume and this dickhead Maya showed up and I just know he's going to do something. I can't tell if it'll be to Chihiro or Haoran, but something's going to happen. I just want to protect them. Especially Haoran. Both of them are pretty tortured, but Haoran just seems so much more fragile. Idk if he could handle something happening to Chihiro.
I loved this so fucking much and I also just want to appreciate the lack of torture porn in this. Which is so weird to say, but I feel like a lot of authors that tackle darker themes tend to show way too much. The way this is done is you see the start and the end so you get a general idea of what happened, but don't have to experience all the gory details and like that's how it should be?? We don't need to see sa or a brutal beating on the page to know that it happened. The only sexually explicit scenes we get are the loving ones between Haoran and Chihiro, which I absolutely loved. I love them and their relationship. It's just a bit toxic because of how dependent they are, but they also genuinely care about each other and they both found a reason to live when they were both at a point where they didn't think it was worth continuing on. Ugh protect them at all costs. I want them to have their happy ending PLEASE.
I feel like reading this I had a longing sense of dread about one specific character. I knew they were gonna come back up and I kept waiting and waiting and waiting. This book is so good and definitely brings the unexpected. The only reason I feel slightly sick is because I know that Kuma is fantastic about, it illustrations and they’re not scared to get violent. Which is what makes me nervous. I want this series to have such a happy ending so bad and I’m looking forward to reading volume three. Sometimes I forget how heavy the writing is until I’m done but to know I completed it makes me feel very proud and excited for the next volume. I love the paper, they use the illustrations they make in the stories they tell. Even if they can be a little gruesome.

The translator did a good job. I mean it was very easy to read but the extra scene at the end of the volume has a joke the really worked well in English.
So now what about the story? I had actually read this before *facepalm*. I thought this was a duology. Why didn't I write a review for myself at the time? Now I cannot use it for the 30 in 30 challenge!
But the story is... the relationship between the characters is lovely in a way despite them both being broken. There is a lot of troubling stuff and a troublesome character that disturbs their peace. Cannot wait for the next volume.
This reminds me of "Banana Fish" and "Home Far Away." They give off the same vibe and leave readers with similar trauma.
One annoying thing about this manga is that I have to brace myself in case something bad suddenly happens. It makes me anxious with every chapter, which is frustrating because I can't relax while reading.
I've read some of Ogeretsu-sensei's other works, and I think this one is my favourite.
I can't wait to read the third volume as soon as possible.
I thought this was a little weaker than volume 1 but still really liked it! I’m SUPER stressed about Maya being back in Haoran’s business, is it bad that I hope Haoran or Chihiro kills him?? 🙈 Cause I can’t imagine another way to get him out of the way..
I’ll probably pick up the next volume later this month!
I am fond of both of them and wish for a happy ending, but Maya's interference and the recent kidnapping have left me anxious about their fate. But this book, I loved it. All their scenes together are so good. Chief kiss.

Two broken boys slowly learning to heal together. Haoran's backstory BROKE me. I just need them to find happiness 😭 I love how this story really pushes you outside of your comfort zone.
like this one a lot more. it was slightly more wholesome, at least their love was imo. it's still fairly heavy with some of the subjects. but really such a good story
