Since the dawn of time, the Kriila have lived among humans. Winged, mysterious, beautiful, and privileged.
As their leader, Kiran has seen just how big the divide between the two species is. And he wants nothing more than to bring harmony and equality between them.
He didn’t plan for his human mate to be the catalyst that shakes up their world when he chose him. But will that be the change they need? Or will it cost Kiran everything he’s worked for?

Jude has lived his entire life watching adoration being heaped upon the Kriila. As a human, he believes they are to be resented, not revered.
They fly high above humans and perch in positions of power while everyone else struggles. The Kriila pay little attention to the struggles of humans and Jude has no expectation that will ever change.
But then Kiran chooses him as his mate, and everything Jude believes in shifts. Was every opinion he ever had a prejudice? Or is Kiran just using him to push his own agenda?

This book made me happy, a thousand thanks for that.
Yes, 5 stars might be too many, but I often rate according to the feelings I had while reading it. And this book made my day. I had so much bullshit today work-wise and I would have loved to kill a few people because, why do I have to deal with so many annoying stupid idiots all the time, I'm so pissed off ...
Sorry,
so I picked this book up again and again today and it really saved me, I could laugh and cry, was a bit angsty, was slightly warmed up from the sexual scenes and it just softened my heart.
All this doesn't say much about the story ... there's not that much there ... Angelic beings and humans, fated mates, political intrigue, some drama and kittens.
Kiran and Jude wormed their way into my head and I felt like I could totally and utterly immerse myself in their story.

“I saw you asleep and needed you to be comfortable too,” he said.
“And so you figured a world’s supply of pillows should do?” Jude quirked an eyebrow, and Kiran chuckled.
“I might have gone a bit overboard,” he admitted. “Not that I regret, it to be honest. You looked super cozy.”
🪽🫠🪽🫠🪽

And I'm impressed enough by the secondary characters that I have to keep reading. Let's see if the second book can have a similar effect, maybe I'll save it for the next fucked up day.

I might not have rated this book very high, but that doesn't mean I didn’t enjoy it. I actually quite liked it, but I just don't think it was particularly good.
This book doesn't offer anything distinctly new or interesting or even something to actually make me feel very invested.
The characterization is not all that great, the plot is a bit half-arsed and the writing is fairly simple.
So, although I enjoyed it well enough, it's definitely not something to write home about.
Nonetheless, I really liked the general idea of the book's fictional world and overall romantic dynamic!

The story takes place in a world where humans co-exist with paranormal beings called Kriila who look exactly like humans with the exception of a pair of gigantic beautiful wings on their back.
In this world, Kriila hold a lot of power as opposed to humans who are really not doing too well and often live in poverty. This, of course, results in quite a bit of animosity towards the Kriila, but there are also those among the humans who look up to them.
Another thing that sets Kriila apart from humans is that they 'mate' with a partner. Not every Kriila is capable of this or ever finds their supposed 'mate', but all of them strive to achieve this. And once they find their 'mate', nothing is more important. Their happiness, their care, their safety, their love; it means everything.

The main characters of this story are Jude and Kiran.
Jude is a poor orphan, who has a strong dislike towards the Kriila, and despises them for their riches and prosperity. He thinks the leaders are all terrible and don't do anything to help humans get better lives.
Kiran is the supreme leader of a political system they call 'Circles', and basically has the highest position someone can have in Kriila hierarchy. He is desperately trying to make their world better for humans, but is being worked against at every turn by those who believe the Kriila should remain superior.

I'm not going to go into the details of the hows and whys and whens, but, long story short, Kiran and Jude meet, and Kiran immediately recognizes Jude as his mate. A lot of turmoil erupts, but Kiran’s main focus and attention is on Jude and just wants Jude to accept him and love him back.

Jude truly looked like he thought the worst of Kiran when he just wanted to care for him. Be there. Look after him... Love him.

Jude is very wary of Kiran at first, but he quickly sees him for who he really is; gentle, kind and loving. It was hard for Jude not to see this, when it was so clear that this big powerful leader would do anything just to make him happy.

Kiran had bandied words with the largest political giants these Circles had to offer, but he was weak at the knees over saying the slightest thing wrong to Jude.

Kiran was super protective and caring, and was patiently awaiting for Jude to see him as his mate and love him back. He just wanted a chance, and when he got one, he was over the moon.

"I'm so incredibly in love with you."
"And I'm so incredibly close to feeling the same. Every day, every hour I get closer."
"I'll be waiting when you get there."

So, obviously I loved this dynamic between these two. The drive from Kiran to win Jude over, the pure love, obsession and adoration he had for him; it was all pretty damn great.
I just think that their development could have been handled better. Jude's switch was pretty fast; he accepted Killian after not all too much effort, which I guess makes sense, because they're 'mates' and all, but I still would have liked to see a little more depth to this.
I would have loved it if we saw them getting to know each other a little more, and form a relationship on things based outside of the 'mate' bond.

Kiran and Jude were both decently likable characters, but I never felt a connection to them and their characterization never went very deep.
Nevertheless, I specifically liked Jude's love for animals. That was quite adorable. And seeing how they had their little nest of kittens in the epilogue was pretty damn cute.

Anyway, long story short, I liked the premise of this book, but the execution made it an average read.

Despite my lukewarm feelings towards this book, I am irrationally excited for the sequel. For some reason I think Levi and Arne's story is going to be so much fun.
I can't wait to see how the protective Arne will get the scared and traumatized Levi out of his shell. It definitely has the potential to be pretty darn cute. Here's to hoping it will live up to my expectations!

Hi, hello there, welcome back to my channel! I'm here again to squeal about another good one as I do. Kindly ignore the cover that imo is not entirely reflective of the beauty of this story (no offence to whoever made it imsorry 🙈) and add this book to your tbr asap. Cause I promise you're gonna wanna read this 😌

I picked this up by accident, I read one chapter by accident, I fell in love by accident, I pulled an all-nighter by accident...yeah... definitely accidentally... on purpose.

Ugh how do I even describe this one?! Sort of like the cool feeling of warm tea or coffee flowing down your entire chest. Does that even make sense?! You'll have to forgive me, it's 3am as I'm writing this 😂 This entire story was so incredibly wholesome and believe me friends, I am as surprised as I am elated

Let's just make a quick list of my favourite moments:
_Kiran getting frustrated with himself for putting meat on the breakfast table before knowing Jude was a vegetarian 🥺
_Kiran fussing to make a gigantic pillow nest to make Jude comfortable after he fell asleep during their afternoon picnic 🥺
_NESTING!!!
_Jude's acceptance of Kiran as his mate 👌🏾👌🏾
_Possessiveness (what's new? 🥲)
_Kiran shielding Jude with his golden wings (GOLDEN WINGS FOLKS)
_Jude grooming said golden wings... ughhhh is this a new love language I am unaware of?! 😩
_honourable mention: NESTING

He’d looked into those pools of blue, and it all changed ... Just like that. He didn’t understand. He couldn’t comprehend the speed with which his entire existence had tipped on its axis.

This book is centered around Kiran (a Kriila council leader - sorta like the president of the world) and Jude (his human mate). And when I say centered, I mean centered. There was some politics happening in the background which created an air conflict for our protagonists, but the romance took center stage here which I loved! So yes, it may have felt a tad one-dimensional, and there may have been some missing information (I'm not sure I ever learned how old either of them were 🤔). None of this bothered me because of the way it was written. This is a beautifully written book; the descriptions were incredible, and the prose was delightful. I also really enjoyed the world-building regardless of the missing details! To me, the idea of Circles was lowkey reminiscent of The Hunger Games' districts. There were some OTT moments especially towards the end but typically I suspend disbelief when reading these fated-mates-attraction-type books for the sake of my overall enjoyment, so take that as you will 🖤🖤  all in all, I'm glad I accidentally (heheh) lost sleep over this gem!

**Thank you for stopping by. Don't forget to smash that 'like' button (jk do what you want 🤪) bye!

It was… ok. Nothing more, nothing less.

No idea why, but i went in with high expectations , and while I’m not exactly disappointed, I’m a bit underwhelmed.

What I liked: the idea of a world with humans and angel-like, winged humans called Kriila living side by side.

What I’m rarely a fan of: insta love/fated mates romances with little to no buildup, with no real background as to how this fated mates thingy works. Kiran, the Kriila council leader, falls hard and fast, Jude, his human mate, feels a bit… idk. Indifferent? Confused? I didn’t feel his emotions develop, apart from him blushing and feeling the need to lean into Kiran.

Jude is the epitome of a damsel in distress, first whisked away by Kiran, then, during the 80%-drama-peak, by Kiran’s enemies. But ofc, even when in terrible danger, he still finds time (and compassion) to rescue a stray pregnant cat 🙄

As for the Kriila politics: it’s a bit TOO black and white, with one party being idealistic and wanting everything that’s good for everyone, and the others being mean, greedy and OFC cheating at elections.

I’ll still rate it with 3 stars, because I liked the idea of “nesting” with your mate. I now want a nest, too 😅

I don’t think I’ll continue with the series though, there are better books out there just waiting for me to pick them up.

Another cozy cocoon read by AM Rose

New series!!

Soulmates
Forced proximity
Rich-poor pairing
Human- non human
Best first kiss scene
Low angst
No triggers
Fluffiest fluffy fluff😌
Slow burn and insta love in the same time!!

Sweet Cinderella story with amazing world building, charming characters and with full of romantic moments. And wings!!!😍

This book was perfectly balanced with the blossoming romance and the world building- political aspects.

Kiran character just perfect, he is a big powerful protective handsomeness ( with wings) who is patient and sweet to Jude ( and has wings), while a dominant and strong leader ( has the biggest and shiniest wing) of his people and joking with his best friend as a teenager 😌 If I hadn’t said before he has bada** wings!!!

“Between one breath and the next, Kiran was folding his body around him, wrapping him in strong arms and warm wings. Shielding him from the world, encompassing him in an embrace that felt like home.”

Can’t wait to read the next book, I loved the side characters, especially Arne.
The interactions between Kiran and Arne are hilarious, I hope I can have of them more in the upcoming books!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Safety info, content warnings and tropes down below.

I really enjoyed this one. AM Rose is a criminally underrated author duo. I’ve really enjoyed pretty much everything I've read from them, and I can’t wait to read more. It was incredibly sweet and fun, but not too sappy or silly.

I thought this was a really nice take on fated mates, and while fated it didn't feel like super unrealistic instalove, but not to the point of working against the fated mates trope itself.

It’s sort of urban fantasy and revolves around politics (political leader MC), and although written in 2022 it’s pretty much exactly what’s happening in the US in 2025.

The MCs were easy to love and I liked them as a couple. I’m also very excited to read the next book (even with a character called Arne *cries in Norwegian*)

“Oh, the horror,” Dana said, swatting Arne’s fingers away from the whipped cream she was spreading on top of a beautiful tiered cake. “Imagine having a best friend that wants you to be happy. I don’t know how you manage.”
“I detect sarcasm,” Arne said. Dana stared at him for a moment before turning to Kiran.
“I can see why you pay him to guard you,” she said. “Such keen senses.”

“Name anything. What do you want?”
So much. Jude took a deep breath. “I was thinking, if you wanted to… we could… nest… together. Like before? But if you’re busy, that’s fine, too—”
“I’ll get all the pillows in the house. Just wait here.”
“All the—Kiran!” Jude called after his retreating back, laughter in his voice. Collecting what had to be every soft thing he owned, Kiran hefted it all back to the top floor. Jude couldn’t even see his face past the mountain. “You look insane.”
“Get your cute butt on the bed so I can nest the hell out of us,” Kiran said.

“Did he actually reassign you to me?” Jude asked when he noticed Arne walking by his side instead of Kiran’s, who was shadowed by Dean.
“Did you doubt it?” Arne asked with a smile. Jude scowled.
“I’m gonna pluck him like a chicken.”

3,5 ⭐ rounded up.

We have fated mates, wings, politics and insta-love.

It would have been good to explain the world at the beginning of the book. Who are the Kriila, the circles. It was a little bit confusing.

I'm usually a fan of insta-love, fated mates and possessiveness but one of the MCs here (Jude) was a bit annoying for me. And there was something lacking in the relationship between the two MCs. One was so in love, the other was getting there and yeah, I didn't like this.

The plot was okay wished it had a little bit more action and character development.

The good
+ The nesting. That was just the cutest thing ever
+ Kiran waiting for Jude and accommodating his wishes, even when they went against his instincts
+ Jude figuring out Kiran is not what he thought he was, and coming to accept him
+ Kiran standing up for his human mate, regardless of the consequences for his political career
+ Kiran's family and their acceptance of Jude without issue
+ Arne. He's a great friend
+ The setup for the next book. Or at least, the next book better be about Arne or I'll be pissed
+ Kiran cuddling with kittens

The neutral
o I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. My review remains honest and unbiased
o Jude hardly contacted the family he used to live with, which was a little disappointing
o I don't really know what Jude did all day when he couldn't work or volunteer at the shelter

The bad
- Kiran had important Council duties, and grand plans. Jude even gave him advice on it. But his plans or the execution of those were very absent from the book, even though they were really important
- It's unclear to me why the Kriila are the only guys in charge. I understand they feel superior, but I missed some history on how this came to be

I really enjoyed this book. Kiran was adorable and I'm glad he got such a great mate. The book was focused much more on the romance than Kiran's political career, which I actually didn't mind so much since the romance was so sweet. I'm definitely looking forward to Arne's book!

DNF @ 69% - honestly, I just got bored. The “villain” felt straight out of a soap opera which I was ignoring but just an FYI. Also, the wings? they were cool but I don’t need the same description of them on almost every page. Wings word count: 165
The book is 205 pages.

DNF at 71%, was somehow enjoying the story till then.

I love fantasy and this book promised dudes in wings, wich I got. But I also got a lot of generic stuff and alpha/macho bullshit, because of the fated mates stuff.

I hoped that the human had more time in denial, but he came through easily and I know wing guy was charming, but that means the story was boring, with not much exciting stuff happening. Specially because wing guy didn't include the human in his work/life (he kept him closed in the house), wich to me was the exciting part.

So it was boring and then something happened and wing dude decided to send human dude far away. MF much?

So I stopped, good idea, could have had a better outcome. 😔😔

This was so much sweeter than I was expecting!

I really liked Kiran and Jude, and this was a nice introduction to this story world. It felt reminiscent of Divergent with the way the population is separated, with a bit of Hunger Games for how extravagantly the Kriila were depicted, but it was enjoyable.

I would have liked to go a bit more in depth with their relationship because the story spanned a very short time and we didn't get to see much of them together after Jude accepted the mating, but I'm hoping the following books show more. We also never really saw how Jude's friends or the family he'd been living with reacted to the mating, which I found quite strange because of the build up in the early chapters.

I'm definitely intrigued by this series though and looking forward to reading the next book.

Kriila are a species that seem to hold political power over the human world. They coexist but humans do not hold the same rights as them. There are different Circles and each has their own leaders but their is one person in charge of them all. That person is Kiran.

He is a powerful man who wishes go give the human world more opportunities but the other leaders, especially Dwight, do not feel the same. A new election is coming up and his numbers have been down. At an event hosted by the Kriila, in which Kriila hope to find their mate, something happens to Kiran that's changes him forever. For the first time ever he feels the pull of his mate.

Jude lives in Circle A. He works at a flower shop and helps out at an animal shelter. His best friend is Levi, who has his own secrets, and he lives with him and his family. His father left when he was young and his mother died. He does not think highly of the Kriila as they have not provided or cared for the humans. So when Kiran claims him to be his mate he is not exactly warm to the feelings.

Jude is unsure if what Kiran feels is for publicity or are the feelings real. Kiran only wants a chance with Jude to prove himself.

As the two try to get to know each other nefarious things are taking place with circle leaders specifically Dwight who wishes to turn back to the old ways of ruling. Will they be able to stop him or will he get his way?

Overall a solid read. I enjoyed the romance aspect. It was really sweet. I did not like Dwight or his offspring at all. I would love to see where this series goes. Would also love to know more about the Kriila and what they can do. All I know is they have wings...but is that it? Anyways, I look forward to the next book and hope it is Levi and Arne. Levi seems like an interesting character with a background I want to know more about.

DNF @ 59% The setup of this book was interesting, with the Kriila leader Kiran finding his mate in a dramatic and emotional scene, but after that things just kind of fizzled out. I didn't feel that their relationship grew in a way that felt earned or satisfying, especially considering the initial conflict of them turning out to be an uncommon Kriila/human pairing and the difference in status between them. It also felt like Jude got lost as a character once he became Kiran's mate. It was like he didn't have any interests anymore, he didn't spare a thought to returning to the shelter where he worked, trying to see his best friend, or even contacting his family, despite those all being seemingly important things to him before.

The book wasn't bad, but it was a lot more shallow both when it came to plot and emotions than I had expected from how it started, so I ended up losing interest.

This book was beautiful. I will admit I started and stopped it a few times because I was nervous about it being too much in the way of world building, but honestly I just had to get past the prologue and my world building fears were settled.
And even still, without the heavy paragraphs filled with lore and background, AM Rose was able to build this world flawlessly and I’m so excited to get to explore it more.
Jude, my precious boy Jude, is so lovely. His love of animals and looking out for the little creatures. And his braveness at being thrust into multiple scary situations, and coming out stronger. I loved it! And his mate Kiran is so perfect and patient. Ahh I have such a crush on him, hahaha.
I only cried a little at this one! I bet normal people won’t cry over it.. but I totally did 🤣🤣

Their first kiss was so romantic 🥹
I'm a sucker for fated mates. I loved that their story was like Kirans ancestors. The golden feather at the end was a nice touch.
I really liked Kiran. He was so dang adorable with the nests he made for Jude.
Sadly, Jude annoyed me. He was blahhh. I swear all he cared about was Kirans wings. He talked about them ALL.THE.TIME...you know, you could say nice things about your mate.
Also... He said "love you" 2 times, and they were mumbled. He couldn't say "I love you"? that really bothered me with how devoted and lovey dovey Kiran was with him.

The political storyline was good. I HATED Dwight and Kevin.

I might check out the next book. Seems pretty stressy depressy.

This was a stunningly visual fantasy fated mate's romance! The World building was fun and original. I could picture sweet and absolutely adorable Jude the human who is fated to Kiran the powerful Kriila Council Leader. We get both POV and a few early chapters getting to know each of them and their place in this world separately. They meet in such a Cinderella sort of way, and I loved that Kiran instantly claimed Jared as his! But Kiran has his work cut out for him. The story is a perfect balance of the fantasy world politics and the building romance between Jude and Kiran as Jude is very wary an unsure of Kiran's intentions! Very much looking forward to the rest of this series!

Loved wings, nesting, how from the first moment Kiran wanted to take care of Jude and make sure he is happy, how Jude realized Kiran is not what he thought and gave him a chance not only because they were mates. The romance was sweet and tender.
Political subplot lacked depth, the resolution made me roll my eyes - so convenient and totally not realistic.
The Kriila are magnificent and amazing creatures, the writing is good. I'll continue with the series and thus rounded up hoping for a stronger storyline in addition to the romance in future books.

Back with another very imaginative book, AM Rose introduce us to the world where humans and a species called Kriila reside in their brand new series. In this first book, we meet Jude, a human with a lot of resentment towards the social order of his world, especially the Kriilas who are at the top of the hierarchy, and Kiran, Kriila and current Council Leader who is doing his best to create more equality in their society but not without significant pushback. Only days away from reelection, Jude and Kiran cross paths igniting the mate bond that Kiran instantly feels and creating a complication both on political and personal fronts.

I was really intrigued with how this series contained elements of fantasy with a new spin to it, and yet had so much that was recognizable from our world. The reality of the Kriila was really well constructed and complete with very specific characteristics (the nesting urges were my absolute favourite!), as well as legends and history that were intricately woven into the plot. And yet the political machinations, the stalemates Kiran faces when trying to vote new policies into place, and the undercuttings and manipulations by his opponent are parts of modern politics that any reader will find familiar.

The characters were also so very sweet and lovely in ways that I have come to expect in AM Rose stories. Kiran wants nothing more than to dote on his new mate and shower him with comfort and safety but Jude’s inherent suspicion doesn’t make this easy. And Jude, despite all his misgivings, tries to understand where Kiran is coming from and learn that some of his assumptions might be wrong. Both of them come together in such tender and intimate ways to face the challenges their relationship creates because they are unwilling to sacrifice their newfound happiness. *Storm* is an absolute precious story of characters who come from different worlds and must find common ground both for the sake of their relationship and for the changes they are wanting to make in their world. With great side characters, sexy and sweet moments, action and great worldbuilding, I highly recommend this 5 star read!

(skim read 2022)

First and foremost this book is about politics.
Evil GIF - Evil GIFs

There is inequality between humans and Kriila. Kriila are basically humans with wings. Kiran (one of the Kriila leaders) is striving to bring balance to the universe, with liberty and justice for all, let freedom ring. 🔔

Basically, it's the tired trope of one group subjugating another. The humans of course, being the downtrodden masses. 😢

How I felt about it all:
Retriever Puppy GIF - Retriever Puppy Dogs GIFs

After the 50% mark, the romance started. It was more sweet than sexy. I didn't feel the love or passion. The writing is okay, but there's no depth and the descriptions are sorely lacking.

In a book about paranormal beings, I hoped for some serious action.

Not gonna lie

The potential is hidden way down there in this book. To be honest it is a little long winded, a little boring, and some of it was a little dumb. It has quite a bit of politics - not something I like to come across in my romance books, especially when it's predictable and a little half assed. I think the only character I actually liked was Arne, yet not enough to want to read his upcoming book. At times, this book pulled a little wanna be Hunger Games, with the Circles and different social classes, the rich ones being extravagant and oblivious to how the other side struggles to even eat. There really isn't anything exciting about this book at all. I mean, ok, so Kiran and Jude were kinda sweet, but there was actually zero fireworks or chemistry between them, which was a bit of a let down. If you are going to include politics, make them exciting, give me more intrigue, make me gasp when the truth is uncovered, otherwise you'll just put me to sleep.

Well, this one was quite the surprise for me. I started to get hesitant with this author-duo while reading their link: Daydream series.
Now I am glad to have picked up this new one.

Both characters are very sweet and Kiran is so very patient with Jude. It was nice to see how Jude slowly grew more confident in their connection and started to trust Kiran. Their relationship was low angst, which I appreciated and with a minimum of miscommunication.

What I didn't quite get but just went with it was the Krilla's place in the world. Do they actually rule over everybody? Where did they come from? How did they keep to themselves beforehand. There was a comment before about them being royal or at least Kiran's part of the family when they weren't out and proud in society amongst humans. So while the world was interesting, I felt a bit lost in the worldbuilding.

I will certainly continue with this series and hope for the best that this was not a fluke 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I really enjoyed STORM and its interesting take on winged beings and a paranormal world. Kiran was a delightful lead who just wanted to spoil and take care of Jude in every way he could. Jude however, is human and not enamored with the Kriila so its a rocky start. While these two were fated mates it's not instantly perfect for them and Kiran had his work cut out for him getting through Jude's walls and gaining his trust. In the backdrop of their romance is a political storm centered on Kiran running for re-election against an opponent who wanted to oppress humans. This was emotional, tender, and incredibly engaging and I'm looking forward to more in the series.

I liked it. It was sweet. Reminiscent of recent events but with a happier resolution

This book is about challenging what you think you know and finding love in the in between moments. Jude is a little marshmallow and I just wanted to hug him and his old jumper. Kiran was so patient and he did everything he needed to do. I’m so in love with them. Get ready to be swept away in a whole new world by these authors. It’s worth the ride.

This book wasn't terrible... it just wasn't very good. Which is sad because the premise was cool, but the execution just wasn't. The writing could use some major work, the plot was just so ehhhh and all friendships/relationships/antagonism in this book just... didn't impact me in any way? I didn't feel anything?

It almost felt like this was originally fanfic for another series. As in, these characters were originally other characters from a different fictional universe. The thing with fanfic is that you already have an emotional tie to the heroes and villains, so you don't really need to build that up for the reader. They're reading fanfic because they already know the characters and like them. So, in this story, the concept was very cool, but I didn't understand the universe or the characters enough to feel an emotional attachment to them.

By no means was this the worst book ever, and it had some good potential, but it could use some major reworking in my opinion.

The first book in a new series. A world where humans live in Circles in poverty under the control of the Kriila. The Kriila are a beautiful winged species thought to be angels or gods. The main characters are Kiran - the Circle Counsel Leader and one of the most famous Kriila - and Jude a human living in one of the oldest and most poor circles.

Jude is Kieran’s mate. Except, Jude is not a fan of the Kriila. Jude realizes Kiran isn’t the typical Kiira he expected him to be and slowly opens to Kiran. The world building was fascinating. I’m really interested in finding out more about the history of the Kiiran.

The characters were well written. I enjoyed Kiran the most. Although, during the halfway point, things got repetitive with the constant “you’re my mate” statements. The portrayal of Jude’s conflict was nicely done.

I found myself more interested in the Kiira politics than the burgeoning love story though. Mainly because I enjoy more high angst and steam. This is definitely on the light and fluffy side. Regardless, it was a great start to a new series. I’d read other books in the series just to learn more about the Kriila.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Erh...look, it had a good concept, a parallel universe in which racism exists between Kriila (the angels) and humans (instead of white and well...every other race/etc, like our world). One of the MCs is a Kriila, the leader of their leaders (supposedly the most powerful, but, meh). The other is a human, lowest of the low. They meet, the Kriila understands they're mates, the human takes a while to accept it and in the mean time, shitstorms ensue politically because of their union and blah blah blah. I wasn't fond of the writing, it seemed too rushed and not deep enough. I didn't feel any chemistry between the two MCs either; the book tried, but...no.
Honestly, if anyone who has read the Guild Hunter series (angels, vampires, humans) tries reading this, they'll be disappointed and probably consider it a waste of time. Cheers.
