E mi dispiace, perché arrivare a interiorizzare certi concetti all'epoca mi sarebbe probabilmente stato molto utile.

4.5 stars - not 5 solely because it needs an update as it was written so long ago. IMO this book should be read by everyone and anyone. The obsession with body image and physical appearance in our world is like a disease. The more people can learn, the better. I will be forever grateful to the dear friend that put this book in my hands (even if it did take me ages to finally read it)

Despite this booking being quite old, even now in 2022 all of its contents are still relevant and helpful. Loved it.

My mom gave me this book when I was a teenager and I've read it at leat 20 times since then. Kaz Cooke offers comic insight into the myths and realities of the beauty and body world. The illustrations make you smile and the quotes from real women make you nod your head in agreement. The book is a serious pick-me-up and I would recommend it to any woman. What woman doesn't need to reminded, "You are NOT your thighs!" sometimes?

I read this book coming off adolescence. While being an exchange student I put on a considerable amount of weight and met the body police. It gave me great courage and tools to deal with all the looks, comments and unsolicited advise to get rid of the extra pounds. Strongly recommended to anyone in the in-fucking-secure teenage years, particularly women.

I enjoy Kaz Cooke, she's funny. This is one of those books where everything said is really obvious and sensible, about body image and the like, yet it works and is interesting and doesn't just feel like same old, same old.

I first read this book when I was a vulnerable teenage idiot and it helped me greatly. Kaz Cooke is an icon of awesome. Teenage girls should be force fed her works for their own damn good - not that they'd need to be because she's fantastic.

I read this on Saturday (yes, a quick read) and although I can't say I learned anything startlingly new, I enjoyed the author's candid acceptance of imperfect bodies. The breast chapter was pretty good. I realized mine are better looking than I thought (giggle).

Clear the way ladies and gentlemen, here comes Kaz Cooke to call bullshit on beauty. This book has facts. Very cool facts. And they're extremely effective as a way to empower women.
