I was not expecting to love this poetry book as much as i did!
Honestly, i was reading this book and didn't realise how much i needed the words that was on the pages! It really was that type of book. I loved how it spoke about all types of love. Like Donna Ashworth put it, not all love is the same. The way she wrote about the love we all feel we need to find in love really had me questioning my outlook on life!
I already have 10 people in mind that i will be gifting this book to once it is published. Honestly, i don't think i have ever been more excited to read more of a poet's books than i have with Donna Ashworth's!
Thank you for writing this beauty, Donna!

I didn't expect to be so moved by a poetry book. Has not been reading much poetry since being in my early 20s, but this book is so powerful, I keep getting back to re-read some poems to find comfort and inspiration to love yourself.

This was such a cute series of poems related to love. I loved reading them; although I haven’t been fond with poems before. This was quite modern and wholesome to read.

Beautiful, raw, vulnerable poetry showcasing how simple life can be once we connect with our heart. We’re deemed immature, foolish, hopelessly romantic when we love too much, too hard so that it keeps breaking us. Perhaps, with every breaking of your heart, a new one grows, that’s bigger, more full of compassion, with greater capacity to hold space for the other?

As a lover of poetry, I enjoyed the poems in this collection. They were nice - that, I believe is the best way to describe them - and often touching, but felt very surface level and basic, often repeating sentiments akin to those on "inspirational quote" calendars. I enjoyed it, and it was fine.

Because I’m not used to reading a lot of poems, I never know what to expect from a poetry collection when I pick them up. The same for these books. If I were not given these books, I would never have picked them up, but I’m so glad I read them because they are true gems.

Ashworth’s poems are all very accessible to people who usually don’t read poems. Lovely and emotional are the words I would use to describe her poems. Her poems inspires us to love, forgive others and ourselves. She reminds us that we are strong and can learn and make positive changes.

You can get similar inspirations and messages from self-help books, sure. But I think I prefer her poems because the beauty in her writing makes the message more poignant and linger longer.

My favourite book from the collection is Love. Love in all forms. Friendship, family, children, self-love. Perhaps because I’m a mom and also a daughter, some poems really spoke to me more than others and made me very emotional in ways no poems ever did. And I know in the future, if I ever find myself going through tough times, I know I can re-read Life. And if I ever lose someone I love, I know I can count on Loss to help me. There will always be right words at the right times among these collections. And what a comfort it gives me. Highly recommendable to everyone, even those who hate poems.

Thank you for @bwpublishing for the review copies.

I have read this book, along with 2 others Life and Loss as a poetry collection and have reviewed them together so this review will appear duplicated for the other 2 books

LOVE, LIFE, LOSS

Today I’m reviewing a poetry collection by Donna Ashworth. Three books Love, Life and Loss. I’ve been dipping in and out of these for the last week and I have to say I’ve loved them all. Love is full of words to remind us of the love in our lives, where it can be found, that it is powerful and so so important. Life covers just that, beginnings, endings, age, all sorts really and it’s been wonderful to sit at the end of the day and read one of these, they bring a sense of peace on the hamster wheel that is Life. Loss was a harder read for me and I have not yet read all of this collection. There are poems for loss in all its forms, I have particularly found solace in ‘There will always be loss’, simple words that speak loud and at the right time are always good.

I will share a little spark of joy for me from Love:

Frosting

Love can arrive
wearing many a disguise
but never
does it look
like and expensive gift
or a romantic weekend
for two.

That’s just frosting.

You’re far more likely
to find real love
in a cup of tea
made just for you
exactly the way you like it.

This this is my love, wrapped up in a cup of tea, you know who you are.

Thank you Donna Ashworth for your words, powerful, truthful and long lasting.

Love, by Donna Ashworth, is a poignant, beautiful, and soothing collection of poems on self-love, friendship, marriage, and children. They address the bonds that enrich our lives, shaping our perspectives on love, compassion, and forgiveness for ourselves and others.

It is exactly the collection of poems I needed to read. I needed to be reminded about the beauty of my dreams, worth, and soul. I needed to be reminded that I am loved and will always be loved because I will always have myself and never abandon myself.

This collection inspires, enlightens, and lifts all burdens: These poems moved me to tears. I understood their depth and value and would love to share them with my loved ones and friends. I want them to experience the joy of self-discovery, and the lessons that can be found in our pain and mistakes when we take the time to carefully reflect upon them.

I came to enjoy Donna Ashworth's poetry on FaceBook. She writes with a keen skill for putting her fingers on the pulse of womanhood and beautifully expresses the thoughts and feelings that the rest of us often find difficult to put into words.

This book covers love of all types. Some of the poems are light and joyful, others reminiscent, those of loss are heartbreaking.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and plan to read her other books as well. Highly recommend!

Love by Donna Ashworth

This is a lovely set of poems. I related to If your Mother Did not Love you so much. Each poem is unique and makes you feel emotional. She expresses the ideas and sentiments that the rest of us frequently find challenging to articulate in her writing with a strong knack for keeping her finger on the pulse of women.

All forms of love are covered in this book. Some of the poems are upbeat and jovial, while others are nostalgic and heartbreaking ones about loss.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Bonnier UK Audio, and the author, for the ALC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is for everyone, because no matter how much we are prepared for loss, we are not. Loss is always sudden, even when expected. It seeps in with time, showing up unannounced at sight or feeling of something we relate to the lost ones. This collection is about dealing with those feelings, dealing with the trauma of loss, accepting the status of loss, healing the wounds, the scars and scabs left by loss.

The beauty of poetry as audiobooks for me is that the author reads it, the artist expressing the art which makes it an experience! A worthy and beautiful experience!

It is a book full of kindness, love, wisdom and understanding. It is a read that beautifully tells us to be kind to ourselves. The book brings so many kinds of love and relationships, situations in life, friendships and family bonds to the forefront. No stone is left unturned, with this book exploring the central theme of love in all its forms. I recommend this book.

Poems all about love in its many forms, between lovers, family, friends etc.
There were poems about self worth and recovering from toxic situations too.
A good collection to dip in and out of as needed

This is a book you can read in a day but you’ll come back to at different times over the years. Reading it in one sitting really does fill you with love in all of its guises and makes you realise how much is around you that you don’t realise. Donna has created a lovely collection in her books.

Donna Ashworth's poems speak to my soul.
This is a lovely volume to keep and read again and again.

(Paper quality in the book is pretty rough to touch, feels cheaper than it is, which is a shame and common across all her books unfortunately)

Not my personal favorite Donna Ashworth collection, as the poems didn't resonate as much with me. I'm sure the target audience will appreciate the positive, self-affirming messages, but it became a bit repetitive for my taste. To each her own!

A beautiful collection of poems. I especially enjoyed ‘The Love of a Dog’ and ‘Dandelion Seeds’. What I love about Donna Ashcroft’s work is it’s very accessible, relatable and is for everyone. She shows that poetry is not a pretentious style of writing only for certain people but instead something that captures experiences we all have and can be appreciated by anyone and everyone.
