"I often write in the margins of my books. I know that's heresy to many book lovers out there, but I find that great writing requires a response from me. In this, my first book of poetry, I left lines for you to respond. I had some things to say; maybe you do too.
Be Heard. Luke"
Cool Air is a collection of poems by Luke Stoltzfoos. With an informal, succinct style, Stoltzfoos touches on universal topics, like nature and family, while dipping into his own history in religious deconstruction and a journey toward emotional wellness. Some of the poems are short–no more than four or five lines–and some poems are a bit longer. This is Stoltzfoos' first book of poetry, and it is self-published.
Luke Stoltzfoos is a teacher and author in Pennsylvania. He has to spell his last name out for people on the phone every day, and wonders what people would do if he just spelled his first name “John” but told everyone to pronounce it as “Luke.” He enjoys staying indoors and doing as little as possible with his partner and their three brilliant and brave daughters. He spends much of his time generally hoping for the world to last a few more years. There is still so much he hopes to see, after all.

I am not a huge reader of poetry, but when I can relate to and feel emotions, I remember why I do.
There were so many in this collection that held emotions for me; some I dropped a tear for, a few made me smile, and others made me feel enraged thinking about the content.
So I am not a huge poetry reader (and by not a huge reader I mean I never read it) but oh my goodness I really enjoyed this book! I loved that there are lines and plenty of writing space for the reader to write their response to the poe. The poems are so well written and though some of them are so simple...they pack a lot of meaning.
