A new killer is cutting a bloody swath through the frontier worlds. Rumors of its exploits are spreading and, like a ghost, nobody even knows what it looks like.
Captain Jason Burke and his crew watch this growing menace with a mix of unease… and guilt. They know who this killer is. He used to be one of them.
Seven, as he now called himself, is their former crewmate. The powerful, sentient machine that had once gone by Lucky has suffered a psychotic break and is now a problem that Omega Force has to deal with. Jason wants to believe that he can still save Lucky, but the longer Seven remains, the more he has to admit that it might be better for everybody if he was just eliminated before he can hurt any more innocents. The real question is can they even do it? Many have gone up against Seven already. None were alive to talk about it. The Omega Force crew is in for the fight of their lives against someone who knows everything about them. Every strength. Every weakness. Can Jason take down Seven without losing anyone else?
I love this series. I absolutely love the character of Jason Burke, and i was extremely happy when i saw a new episode was out. However, i do not appreciate reading a rough draft of a book, and having to pay for it. I was more annoyed at the lack of proof reading than i was able to enjoy the story.
As a book, its readable, and enjoyable. But as litterature, its an annoying caricature of a draft.
This has been a brilliant series which I have enjoyed immensely. My issue with this book is that it’s confusing as it talks about a chain of events involving Jason’s son, One World faction and the killing of the Earth agent that were not in the previous book (12). This one is listed as No.13 but it doesn’t sit right with all that it includes about the subjects I’ve mentioned. Have I actually missed a book? In my library it shows The Pandora Paradox as Book 12 and then this as 13. The previous book does not cover Jason meeting his son and getting the phoenix back etc etc.
A fast and entertaining read, with some very high highs and very low lows for the characters. There is some very fair funny dialog, a particular talent of the author. My only quibble is with the editing, which overlooks poor grammar in the narrative, unclear references and other issues that slow the reader down as one tries to decipher shat was really meanr. (Just one example: at the end of the book, a paragraph ends with Jason going out on the deck. The next paragraph uses only the pronoun "he," but it is it cannot be referring to Jason. After a moment's thought it is clear the subject of the paragraph is Lucky. A good editor should have substituted that proper name for the first "he" in the paragraph in order to make clear who we were reading about. There are many such lapses in the book, and overall it reads as though it was dictated but rushed to publication without a careful edit. But given Mr. Dealzielle's gift for telling a story, his unparalleled ability to narrate action shines through and makes reading this book very enjoyable indeed. I look forward to the author's next endeavor!
I loved this series! The characters: Jason, Crusher, Lucky, Kage, Doc and Twingo were the funniest and craziest aliens, and 1 human, I've ever enjoyed reading about. I don't think any of then never threaten they would murder the others BUT they loved one another like brothers and would give their lives for the others. They were an awesome group of "mercs."
This story was about ridding the galaxy of the Machine, and they did, somewhat. Then there was problems with Jason's ex-love Kellea and an assassin looking for her. .
This was a very exciting book and I'm assuming another one is coming, at least I hope there is.
No romance and the F-bomb was used 25 times.
As for the narration: As with every other book in this series Paul Heitsch was phenomenal.
Once again, Omega Force delivers. That said I am glad to be seeing some of the longer arcs start to tie up their story line. I think the series is at its strongest when working episodic style stories rather than epic overarching stories. I have already started the next book and it appears so far that we are getting back to that beloved format. Spoilers ahead! All things considered, Omega Force has become one of my favorite book series and I am so excited for more. I will say it again. it think this series is perfect for a TV show and I hope that happens someday with competent show runners and writers.
I have been following the series from the start. Unfortunately, the language and words used are getting more and more difficult to follow. The language being USA English is something I can normally cope with; but this book has shown a fair amount of deterioration in readability. The story was more or less understandable, but was not helped by the colloquial style of presentation. I was often left wondering if there was a plot or was the author lost. I got there in the end but was left quite disappointed with the story ending. I am uncertain whether I will buy any more of his books. I was left rather nonplussed at the end.
fast pace story, very enjoyable. Up to the authors, usual standards.
I found this story fast paste as usual. I enjoyed the MC and his wacky crew. The action is fast paced, and so is the story. I’m glad the author wrote the book this way, because I had stopped reading it because of what happened to a certain character. I’m awfully glad the author resolved that particular issue so henceforth I will continue to read the series. If you have not read any books in this series, I urge you to do so start from the first book as I did, very enjoyable. Going on to read the next one in the series.
Just your average Omega Force novel centered around Lucky and the team's desire to bring him back and abolish 7. It was a great plot line, but it has dragged on too long. While [no spoiler] there is some resolution in this book, the reader is not left with the feeling that the issue is totally resolved. I probably won't read on, and I'm actually surprised that I've gone through 13 of these novels. They aren't bad by any stretch, but they also aren't packed with fresh ideas, other than the Lucky sacrifice, which is why I have read-on as long as I have. If you've been completely happy with the past Omega Force books, then you'll be happy here.
If you are reading this book then hopefully you have read the books leading up to it and this book continues the great story with the interesting fun characters you know. I’m happy Doc is more involved in this book as I felt he fell out of the recent stories even though he was there but he is more involved in this book. This book has great humor and action as the rest of the series has and any fan of the series definitely won’t be disappointed. Now back to waiting patiently for the next installment.
the continuing adventures of Omega forces crazy crew
Love this series. Great cast of characters who you learn to love and are still able to dislike at times, Kage and his incessant whining and total inability to see he’s being goaded and guided into being the petulant genius of the crew. Crusher remains the hard core warrior who while on mission is laser focused and when not on mission an utter pain in the keister. Jason’s still a great character with an oddly abrasive relationship with a crew he obviously loves but who also drive him to consider murder.
Very tired writing, bordering on lifeless. Somewhat lacking in describing settings(where things happen), locations(worlds/solar systems etc), distances and the passage of time. Just a lack of description overall. It seemed washed out colourless. Lack of continuity in certain story areas causing things to feel just wrong. This book reads far more like a fever dream compared to my recollections of the prior 12 books. Just a lack of joie de vivre in the writing. I sorta wish the author hadn't published this one as is, and instead taken a step back to consider things.. Honestly the only thing that I thought was well done was the wrap up of the book, that being chapter 25-End.
First, I'm mad at myself not knowing when this was released as I've been waiting on it for months! I've been reading the series since its inception and have loved each entry more and more. To He'll and Back does not disappoint and brings much closure from the previous entry. I continue to be amazed by the authors writing of this series and hope against hope that it will not end anytime soon. Thank you Mr Dalzelle for another amazing read within the world of Omega Force. Patiently anticipating the next entry!
I've read all the books in this series so far. I've enjoyed each and everyone of them even though it was frustrating not knowing when to expect the next one. I actually found this one by chance. I happened to be looking for another one to read and this popped up. I love the series but please keep us in the loop on when expect the next one. Keep up the good work and I'll keep on reading.
This book seemed to be all over the place. The premise for all the previous books has been the gang doing right and sod the consequences, this one seemed far more spread out. A lot had none of the gang mentioned for ages, even if you include Seven/Lucky as one of them, the story goes on about Satvinder and the government senator whose name eludes me When it is about Jason and crew, the book is everything you could hope for, just need more of it
Jason has his ship, Phoenix back from his son Jacob who had "borrowed" it to complete his mission. Now Jason can return to his primary mission - to find Lucky and return him to his original self. Or to extinguish Seven if Lucky can’t be retrieved. An excellent volume which ties up previously loose thread storylines. It’s the way a series is sculpted for its conclusion. Read on …
I use ratings to decide which books I am going to buy, and I recently decided I am partially responsible for inflating the ratings on books. Either they were 5 star or 1 star. I decided to use the star rating more objectively as follows:
★★★★★ Great book! Can’t wait to read it again (and I will). ★★★★☆ Good book. I am glad I read this. ★★★☆☆ OK book. Nothing special but not bad. ★★☆☆☆ Not good. Why did I waste my time? ★☆☆☆☆ Lousy. I didn’t finish.
Jason and Omega Force are in a quandary over how to try to either rescue Lucky or to destroy Seven. They are also somehow in a present time and the author is only giving us periodic glimpses into how the search for Jacob & their desire to find the Phoenix and regain control over her went. Maybe we’ll find out more in the last book but I kind of doubt it.
Can't help but love this character. The conscious of Omega Force. Not much to write about this book. It's awesome as usual.
If I could tell Joshua to include anything, it's be a hybrid daughter of Jason and Admiral Colleran. The dynamic between her and her older brother would be cool. Maybe together, they could take over OF. New spin-off series??? 😉
I was so happy when this book was finally released. I've been waiting for book 13 so long! It was definitely worth reading how Omega Force once again beats the odds, kicks butt, takes names, and comes out on top. It was a little Bittersweet there was some sadness, but it is so uniquely Omega Force that I can't wait for book 14 now.
I love the series.I have read the series multiple times. It's only recently at least I'm not aware that The earlier books of the series Religious expletives We're being used.I live with the other language but I wish it really just explained it was not being used here. But still A good read.I look forward the book 14 if you ever does one. There are lot of open ends that can be written about.
I still hope Kellea and Jason can get back "together" . Wow, an AI, giving it's life to save a synth! Jason made a new lowlife friend and an old one returns. Still questions are unanswered about the machine. 701 has an external mission. The band is back together. Thanks Jason for continuing this universes!
The next instalment in the Omega Force series made it worth the wait, and sadly read all too quickly. Josh continues the saga with some laughs, some action, and some sadness.
The crew soldier on and the ‘Team’ is back together!
Every episode of Omega Force is like a letter from home keeping the reader up to date on what all his brothers have been up to…..don’t stop Josh…we’re all living in that universe inside your head
Love everything about this story. All the twists and turns are amazing. The Omega force series is without a doubt my favorite of all time. I'll read about the idiots as long as the story continues
reading these books. I've had a lot of fun reading these in a relatively short amount of time. I will continue to read them as long as Joshua writes them. Fun characters fun stories and very good writing.
The Omega Team return and continue the search for Lucky, in a bid to to save him or end him, if he has gone too far off the deep end!! As usual another good book, the story is built on strong likable characters and the interaction between them.
Been hanging out for this for awhile well worth it
I love the Amiga Force books I’ve read them all plus other Joshua daizelle. Ties up some loose ends in the series. Still more to come though. Josh is one of my all-time favourite authors on Amazon. Well worth the read
Joshua Dalzelle is one of those writers who his become one of my most favorite, especially his Omega series and The Boys. All his stories are such a great escape you’ll end up rereading them when your other stories don’t keep you engaged. Outstanding escapism! Thanks
This book follows in the same spirit as the previous twelve. A wild and unpredictable rollercoaster rode, but with more emotional engagement. Joshua Dalzelle never fails to deliver.
