“When powerful people want something, getting in their way can kill you.”

Maverick is the fourth book in the Rocky Mountain Thriller Series by Ann Voss Peterson. It is a romantic suspense with mystery, suspense, drama, danger, tension, action, adventure, investigation, forced proximity, and plenty of angsty drama.

While I have loved this series, so far- this isn’t my favourite of the series- and it definitely didn’t feel as intense as the first three books. To me, this has a bit of a ‘soap-opera’ kind of feel to it which was a bit frustrating.
I really felt for Sophie, and am not convinced that she really got her HEA. I can’t reveal the why of this, without spoiling the story for you- but IYKYK. I was devastated for her. Plus, J didn’t really get the Kharma he so fully deserved in the end.
While this is a romantic suspense, there is very little in the way of ‘intimacy’- so if you are worried about graphic scenes, there is really only one that comes about three quarters of the way through the story- and it’s very short and not too hot to handle- and can be easily skipped if you wanted.
This felt quite rushed in parts, which I was not expecting from Ms. Voss Peterson.
But am curious to see what she does next.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Ann Voss Peterson!

It's been a while since reading a story by this author, but I still like her writing style and the editing has improved. The characters are well developed and the plot flows with lots of suspense and great dialogue, but I still feel left out in the love scenes. They're too brief and generic. Still a good read with a twist at the end.

Maverick - Rocky Mountain thriller

A hunted woman, a missing baby, a killer on the hunt. They are trying to find the mother and protect the baby…. Who would want to kill a child??? The possible father, the stepbrother, //????
But they may find more than they bargained for.

Maverick

Great book, he is surprised to find a baby on his boat. He is even more surprised to learn who the mother is. When danger comes calling he realizes that he will do everything to keep Cody and Sophie safe.

Too tame!

Family isn't always what you want! This book was too much like a soap opera than a thriller? But the most important part is it's a Happily Set After book!

Kept me in suspense…

For once I didn’t have everything worked out by the middle of the book. Lots of twists to keep the reader engaged in the story. Good Job!

A bit short for this story, I would have liked to have the storyline a bit more "fleshed" out, but apart from that (and a few unrealistic occurrences), not a bad story, and entertaining.
