Even though it has been over a year since Alexander’s mother had murdered him, Lady Ann is still grieving for her deceased fiancé. So, when Lord Bright (Patrick) makes a simple request for aid in chaperoning his sister during the upcoming season, Ann decides some time in London might be what she needs to overcome her sorrow.
Unfortunately, Ann and Patrick aren’t in London a full day before they both discover they should have had someone chaperoning them instead.
An innocent night spent in the library, searching for books, leads Lady Ann and Lord Bright right into an unwanted wedding ceremony. Even though neither wanted the marriage, they are both determined to make it work. So, when he offers to take it slowly and go through the motions of their missed courtship, Ann gladly accepts.
Patrick and Ann are delighted to discover that with each offered flower and carriage ride taken, they can’t help but fall in love with each other.
But wait.... You didn’t expect things to be that easy, did you? Just as Patrick and Ann are ready to admit they are in love, a devious plot threatens to destroy their fragile bond. This new scandal could not only ruin both their lives, it could also get someone killed.

This book did not disappoint! I normally read out loud to my disabled husband, and we accidentally read book 4 out of sequence, but it didn't detract from the story at all. Also, we did the audible version, and the narrator was excellent! We are looking forward to going back and picking up the 3rd book in the series, then on to #5! My husband loves them as much as I do! Regina does a wonderful job bringing the characters to life, and keeping you enthralled with their lives! So happy to have found this author and this series! If you like clean historical fiction you will love these books!
It's been a year since Alexander has been murdered, but Lady Ann is still grieving for her fiancé. But she soon meets Lord Patrick Bright who finds Lady Ann very interesting and attractive. They both fall asleep one evening in the family library while seeking new books to read. As they sit on the sofa chatting, they both fall asleep. The maids are stunned and embarrassed to see them together in their night clothing. In order to correct this wrong-doing, Lord Patrick will have to marry Lady Ann immediately or will be facing a duel with Robert, Lady Ann's brother. This is really a great, captivating novel as always Regina Puckett creates. There's is romance and surprises here. Highly recommend.
Lady Ann is still mourning the death of her fiance when Patrick, Lord Bright, asks her to chaperone his younger sister for her Season. Ann agrees, but the first night in London, the two are caught in the library in their nightclothes. Though innocuous, this event forces them into marriage. This is a quick read and a sweet tale about building a relationship into a marriage. Patrick is a lovely man who's determined to court his new wife to make up for what she missed by the forced marriage. Ann is bewildered by her new circumstances but adjusts pretty well. I was a little disappointed by the ending only in that Ann doesn't really take part in the denouement but leaves it up to Patrick to solve. Still, it's a nice romantic story about two good people who fall in love.
A sweetly romantic love story with a twist; this is well-written with engaging characters that fit the plot. Some good descriptions and sense of place.
Worth a look for those who enjoy the romance genre.
After one year, Lady Ann still mourns the death of her fiance. She loved him and misses him, yet realizes life has to go on for her. After learning her brother has already approved this, she accepts an offer from Lord Bright, one of her deceased fiance's life-long friend, to chaperone his sister, Phoebe, to London for her coming out. All goes well. Ann finds Lord Bright to be an intelligent, funny and engaging man, and his sister is a delight. However, once in London, circumstances find Ann and Lord Bright in an innocent but compromising situation. They must wed. Once wed, Ann finds she doesn't mind being married to Lord Bright. The marriage remains unconsummated by Lord Bright's choice until he fells that Ann does want to remain married to him. He tells her that if she decides she wants an annulment, he'll agree to that. Now comes the part of the story that got me. I really liked these two people. These two were people I'd love to hang with. They were so nice. So, as soon as they kind of know this marriage is something good and they should accept one another...an evil from Lord Bright's past happens upon them. This evil also tries to trap Phoebe and cause her disgrace. Death is not implied, it is promised. Lord Bright and Ann plan what to do so they can free Phoebe from shame and then get on with their lives together. A satisfying turnabout is realized. A great story.
H\h are forced to wed but agree not to consummate the marriage immediately. The evil villain can tell by looking that the bride is yet a virgin and demands the marriage to be annulled so she can be his bride. That's the plot. The author has an inordinately difficult time with the naming of her characters, referring to Phoebe as Elizabeth, nephew Peter is later Charley, Frederick the valet is also called James, but should not be confused with Frederick the accomplice who is also known as Felix. Misuse of alter for altar and mounding for mounting are added irritants in this ridiculous and vulgar story.
I have enjoyed other romances by author Regina Puckett, and I'm happy to say that When One Door Closes is no exception.
Although a bit slow in parts because of the over-thinking by the hero and heroine, this sweet and clean tale is packed with likable characters and a few twists. The lead and supporting characters are believable, and the villain is totally evil. Best of all, the ending is smile-worthy and very satisfying
My only negative was the annoying errors in my digital copy. They should have been caught by the proof readers. Hopefully they were all fixed in the later editions.

Walking thru the open door, they found a friendship, and love to last forever.and had twin sons, who was as mischief as their father and his two best friends..Oh! And another on the way or maybe two on the way! So Patrick hoped. Thank you ♥️🥰
This story tells of two people who shared the loss of a special person and come to find them together in marriage due to an innocent misunderstanding. Over time they come to know each other and share an unpleasant situation with a couple of unpleasant villains. In the end they find their hea
Death would rob Ann of the one she loved so dearly. Would she ever be able to love again? Opportunity knocks on her door, but the path ahead would be riddled with uncertainty, lies, and deception. The author has given us a very captivating and clean story. Relax and enjoy!
Disappointments can sometimes lead to sweet romance. The author takes readers into the lives of Lady Ann and Lord Bright. What seems a simple tale is much more as plots and scandals rock the lives of two people who are thrown together in a wonderful tale.
It was a good book, I always enjoy historical romance and this one did not disappoint. I would enjoy learning how well the daughter's season finally turned out and if she makes a good match in the future.
If only he had not died. But he did. Her fiancé, and his best friend. Love has a way of bringing people together. This unusual story brings out the best in us
