Lean the F*ck Out: How to Aim Lower, Get Less Done, and Find Your Happiness

Rate this book
Say “hell no!” to saying yes to everything with the help of Lean the F*ck Out

Just don't do it. From the mental load to the laundry load to the everyday load of BS―you carry it all and then some. You’re killing it at work, cooking super healthy sh*t at home, parenting like it’s an Olympic sport, saving the Earth one paper straw at a time, and still going to bed feeling like you should have done more.

Time to join the revolution. Hop off the hamster wheel of endless guilt and responsibilities and start enjoying the kind of calm that would make a Buddhist master blush. Talia Argondezzi's Lean the F*ck Out is a joyful manifesto on the benefits of using shortcuts, delegating like a checked-out boss, failing at things that don’t matter, and claiming your joy. All you have to do

- Be a B student for once in your perfection-driven life.
- Let some things slide. (Really. It’s okay.)
- Untangle your self-worth from your achievements.
- Make time for that good, good sh*t.
- Say goodbye to burnout and feel like yourself again.

A very surface level, little self help book. It will give you ideas and have you thinking on where you can to let go of certain things in your life, to free up time for fun things instead and guide you to let go and stop reaching for perfection, reminding you that it’s ok to be average.

It’s doesn’t necessarily give you all the tools to be able to do the above, but it will leave little nuggets in your brain, to maybe kickstart a few little changes in your life.

My takeaways for this book were;
⭐️ When children are bored, don’t step in straight away with ideas or things for them to do, let them be bored, carry on with what you’re doing and see what happens, this encourages them to figure things out themselves and to use their imagination. I can say I did this with Brynn a couple of times yesterday and guess what - she went off and found things to do and was very happy doing so ❤️

⭐️ Posting and Scrolling Less - I have been actively doing this for the past week, I log out of my social accounts and have set a time when I only login for half an hour to do what I need to do and my mind has been a lot clearer and more focused of everything else happening in the day.

⭐️ Not cooking every single night.. while I truly am one of those people who LOVE cooking, this was a good reminder that it’s good to have a night off too. While we generally don’t eat out much or get takeaway, mainly to save money as budgets are tight, Talia’s tips will now have me searching my local eateries for places that have a good deals on and that I can take advantage of 1 night a week or on the days I just don’t feel like standing in the kitchen after a busy day.

Everyone will have different take aways from this book, as most do with any type of self help book. It’s also a very easy one to devour within an hour.

Laugh out loud funny take by a brilliant comedy writer on modern overachieving. I devoured it and ordered it for all my friends! Necessary reminders for adults/parents/ women and more — to really look at our lives and cut the extraneous noise to prioritize our own joy.

Unless this book was a joke from start to finish I missed, it is some of the worst advice I have ever heard. This book is for the entitled asshats out there that want to justify the nothing they already do, not for the people that truly doing too much and need to scale back. Also, why write it only to women? So dumb.

Hilarious read! I laughed out loud and agreed with so many points made by the author. Especially about going to Taco Tuesdays so you don’t have to cook a damn thing! And I loved how she talks about how leaning out gives you more time to do things you actually WANT to do. A great book for all to learn more about how to find your happiness.

I laughed out loud so many times and related heavily to almost all of the content. A light read that can be done in a few hours, and feel good content that reminds you it is ok to say no to the race to perfection and be content with a life lived messily.
