Sydney Campos is an intuitive energy healer, strategic advisor, 3x founder, and facilitator with over a decade of expertise guiding visionaries, leaders, and creatives on transformative embodiment journeys. As the best-selling author of “The Empath Experience: What To Do When You Feel Everything” (2018) and “I’m Ascending, Now What?” (2023), Sydney has empowered thousands globally in authenticity, energy mastery, and purpose.
There are times when a person needs some inspiration and self-help. This may be the ideal book for them. It’s filled with compassion, awareness and positive vibes. She also includes powerful quotes from well-known authors such as Wayne W. Dyer, Joseph Campbell, Elizabeth Gilbert, Dan Millman, Brian Weiss, Caroline Myss and many others who have provided encouragement with their good words. One of my favorites is from Mark Twain: “The Two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you found out why.” It made me smile.
In the beginning, Sydney Campos cheers the readers on to take notes and take it or leave it. “It’s your journey.” It’s like a very long therapy session which comes with a boost of support for those that are looking for more meaning in their lives. Dolores Cannon said, “Earth is a school for mastering how to manipulate energy. It’s the most difficult school in the universe. Only the bravest souls sign up for this assignment.”
This is a book that may or may not resonate with you. I found it to be a basic self-help, comfort guide with a lot of repetitive points. She was candid about her past with personal relationships with men and her parents, with drinking and drugs. She shows how she stepped away and got help from advisors, books and seminars. She addresses ways to heal with affirmations, meditation, prayer, positive thinking and relaxation. In the end, there is a list of helpful books.
My thanks to St. Martin's Essentials for allowing me to read this advanced copy with an expected release date of June 20, 2023.
This book is billed as practical advice for anyone experiencing a spiritual awakening. I had expected it to provide guidance and roadmaps for someone who has already started on their journey but in this, the title is a little misleading (the author notes an alternate title that I think might have been better). In reality, this is a self-help book aimed at helping people working through trauma, sometimes generational/ancestral trauma, as part of their ascension process. (It bears noting that the author's use of the term ascension is more body and emotion-focused, which is not the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of the term ascension).
There’s a lot of good in this book, especially for anyone trying to get a handle on why their life doesn’t feel authentic or are behaving in ways that may be detrimental. The author draws a lot on her own journey into sobriety and healthy living, which I appreciate. As always, there are some aspects of the author’s journey I can’t relate to (spending thousands on coaching, moving to Bali) but I applaud anyone who is brave enough to follow their own intuitive call.
What didn’t resonate with me is the fact that this is essentially a therapy book, and the author doesn’t differentiate between different levels of trauma. My opinion is my own and I don’t want to speak for anyone, but while I feel that shadow work is beneficial for anyone and truly necessary when connecting with your higher self, there is some trauma that needs to be walked through with a medical professional, and I don’t recall that being mentioned in this book. One other aspect that didn’t sit well with me was the opinion that “all diseases” are energetically based. This may be true to an extent, but I shy away from anyone who claims this because to someone suffering from a chronic illness (not me, this is my general opinion), it smacks of “you caused this” and I don’t think that’s helpful. I prefer a middle ground between energetic healing and western medicine.
There are several attunement exercises at the end of each chapter to help the reader along. However, they’re all a little vague and if you’re like me, someone who often needs to get hit with a brick to get the message, the attitude of “you know when you know,” (my paraphrasing, not something said verbatim), isn’t terribly helpful. I did, however, highlight some of the exercises to come back to that I think would be beneficial in my own meditation.
Final words - a well thought out if dense guide (give yourself some time to work through everything) but I finished finding only bits of it helpful. That’s not to say I won’t revisit some things later if I think they’ll assist in my own journey. For right now though, this one didn’t hold a lot of value for me, but hopefully it will for others.
3.5/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐+

Sydney has a gift in being able to articulate the intangible. This book is actually not “self-help” .. this book is self-transformation and allows you to live a higher quality of life so that you can enjoy your time here on earth. I am so grateful to Sydney because she is a living embodiment of the growth that is possible and the higher dimension that’s out there.
Whoever is giving less than 5 stars, this book wasn’t made for them. This book is only for people who are ready to live a higher quality of life and make a positive impact on the world while they are here. Life is short; let’s figure out how to maximize our time here on earth. Sydney guides us on how to do just that.
Is it woo? Yes. Very. Can I get behind it? Not all of it. Does the author do something most don't and give you permission to take what you want and leave the rest? Yeah. She does.
And listen, if you have identity issues, childhood trauma, etc. Maybe just maybe there's something in these pages that will at the very least give you something to think about. I personally made several notes in the margins, and I'm pretty sure my therapist is tired of hearing me say, "So, in that book I'm reading..."
I can tell I’m going to come back to this book over and over along my healing journey. I love love how much Sydney personalized this book by putting herself into the pages while helping others move through past trauma and grow into their most authentic self. I can relate a lot to her healing path and found her guidance to be helpful and right on. This book may not be for everyone but if it does hit, it hits deep. So grateful to have this book in my healing toolkit!
Whether you are just starting your journey towards self-discovery or have been on this path for a while, I'm Ascending, Now What? is a must-read. So, if you are ready to awaken your authentic self, own your power, and embody your truth, this book is for you.
Sydney Campos is the perfect to write a book on awakening your authentic self and truth. Excited to read this after after a life changing experience when she led a transformative retreat in Bali back in early 2018.
Sydney is an talented story teller and writer. I loved how she mixed in her own personal stories & spiritual lessons within the book. It’s very thought provoking, deep, introspective and intriguing. I resonated with many of the stories & I couldn’t put it down!
I really enjoyed slowly working through this book with a friend pen and a journal. If you're looking to do some deep soul work this is a good book to dive into the nitty gritty of your mind. This is definitely one I'll refer back to in the future!
