Cal’s story

I was so excited for this book to show up on my kindle! The first book made me cry throughout, and Cal desperately needed his own book and HEA.

Cal is the dad of Lilly, who lost the love of his life and Lilly’s mother, Amber. She lost her life the night she gave birth to Lilly. He has been a single father ever since and afraid to move on and forget Amber. He has a great support system of his brother and sister in law, Amber’s sister. Lilly is in grade school and is suddenly having issues in school. She is getting into fights and does not want to complete schoolwork. She ends up getting suspended. Cal has to call in some help before she gets expelled. Louisa is recommend by his sister in law, Ellen. Louisa works in the nursery and also babysits. She is slowly able to get to the bottom of Lilly’s school troubles. Together Cal and Louisa handle the issues all the while starting to catch feelings for each other. With everyone’s blessing, they try it out. The second date seems to seal their fate. The more time they spend together the more they know what their future will look like. Family holidays, living together, and love. With as many tears as I’ve shed, tragedy hits! We are left with a huge cliffhanger… I’m beyond ready for book four that I heard from a “birdie” has been started!

Why Julie, why? Oh my heart!!!!!! 💔

I was doing so good with the story but I did tear up at the mention of Amber.

This story will be best enjoyable if read after Forget Me Not.

Cal is struggling getting Lily to open up to him. He knows something isn’t right with her and wants to help but she’s refusing to tell him anything about it.
This is when Louisa comes along, and almost instantaneously she and Lily click.

I won’t spoil the story but as in any romance, there are sparks between Cal and Louisa.

Now, what was that ending? I could not believe it!!!! 😳🥺

I’ll be waiting patiently….. not……. for further updates regarding Cal……….

I received an ARC of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I need to know what happens next! Spoiler alert......
I love cliffhangers and books with endings that are not wrapped up in a nice little bow - that aren't the stereotypical happy endings most people want in a book. I'm left wanting more, and I like that in a book.
Right at the end: TWIST - BOOM, right in the feels!
I was invested in the relationship between Cal and Louisa from the beginning. Julie is adept at portraying emotions in her characters, making them relatable. We feel like we know them, like we're going through it all with them.
And the love scenes are spectacularly written and hot, hot, hot! Better written than many other books on the market. I've read some pretty poorly written love scenes in my time - Julie succeeds where many others are awkward and cringy to read.
I was lucky to be given an ARC copy of this book. I expect you will have much success, Julie! Keep writing, I'm waiting to see where this is going!

This is a fabulous story that has moved on several years from the last. Lily ia at school and Cal is trying to give her everything she needs. But when Lily shows signs of distress he turns to his sister in law for help. Who, in turn gives him the number of really good nursery nurse. Together they begin to set Lily's life back on course, but while they do they realise there is an attraction present that they just shouldn't ignore. Beautifully written, and emotional.

This is a page turner that will have you cheering for the growing relationship between Louisa & Cal. I couldn’t put it down and read it all in one afternoon. This book was gripping, well written & the chemistry between the characters sizzled throughout this wonderful read. I certainly wasn’t expecting the curveball or the cliffhanger that Julie threw at us! Gah!!
