VIVIAN: I’m in hell. Three months ago I got dumped and it sent me into a downward spiral of red wine and pie. Now my Type A sister is getting married and she’s hired me a personal trainer so I can look respectable standing next to her as the maid of honor.
The good news: she’s paying for the hottest hard-ass personal trainer in town.
The bad news: he used to be the fat kid at my high school, the one my popular friends bullied. He was my friend, the first boy I'd ever kissed, and he claimed I broke his heart.
The worst news: He is now the hottest man I have ever known, still hasn't forgiven me, and I have never wanted anyone more in my life. But I can’t erase the past any easier than I can get rid of those stubborn last five pounds.
BRAD: A fat boy’s best revenge is to work out, get hot, and then get all the women. In high school, I only wanted one girl. Fate has brought her to my gym, and I am going to make her feel the burn like she’s never felt it before.
My plan is to torture her with ab work, get her to fall for me, then blow her off and break her heart, like she did to me.
But she’s making it so damned hard…to do that last part.
I hope she doesn’t figure out that deep down I’m still Fat Brad, the book nerd who eats his feelings and would do anything just to kiss her.
Every Inch of You is a standalone funny sexy second chance romance with lots of laughs, plenty of steam, an HEA, no cheating, no cliffhanger. It'll work your heart, your core and your glutes!
Amazon Top 25 and USA Today bestselling author Kayley Loring spent many years as a screenwriter (under a different name) in Los Angeles before moving to the Pacific Northwest to live out her childhood dream of being a Disney heroine who talks and sings to woodland creatures. When not trying to keep animals alive, she’s writing steamy romantic comedy novels, obviously. She’s breathing cleaner air, writing dirtier words, and staring at her computer screen until her eyeballs dry out instead of prancing around Southern California in miniskirts and going to the hair salon. Still waiting for the woodland creatures to clean her house, though.
Read or listen to Kayley’s books when you want humor, heat, and heart. You’ll enjoy top-notch banter, strong heroines, lovable characters you’d want to know in real life and you’ll swoon over perfectly imperfect book boyfriends. All Kayley Loring books are steamy open door romance. Be sure to check out her next-level audiobooks!
"Nobody ever tells you when you’re a kid that the guy who makes you feel comfortable and good about yourself is the one you should give your heart to." I LOVE Kayley's books because they feel so special and unique, and I just want to devour them. This is a friends to lovers with a few years in the making, and a second chance story. I understand it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I love books whose characters I can relate to, and whose characters feel real.
"I could think about was what flavor ice cream Brad Mitchell would be, and then I realized he’s a Hot Fudge Sundae with everything on it—and he would never let me eat him." First thing you need to understand is that Kayley's writing is both serious and seriously funny at times. I always find myself laughing out loud at times because it can't be helped. And the awww moments are always there too.
So Mitch... Mitch is Brad Mitchell, Vivian's best friend in high school. He was a fat kid, and not very popular. But still, he was popular with Vivian, and they chatted about books, movies and some nerdy stuff, and spent time at his house. Which was where they kissed for the first time, and a few times after that. But then Vivian changed, broke his heart, and Brad ran away, never looking back.
When Vivian changed in high school, it was because she became popular. So she left Brad behind. Well, not so much, because she kept trying to get in touch with him over the years. And now, she got cheated on by her boyfriend and she's gained some weight over eating her feelings, and she needs to lose that weight.
And Brad... well, he's not fat anymore - he is, in fact, the personal trainer who's been hired by her sister to get that job done.
"He kissed me softly, slowly, and then he kissed me hungrily, like I was the Cheat Day meal he’d been looking forward to all week." Let's face it - Vivian was mean. She shouldn't have broken his heart or done what she did, even if it was high school and we all know we did some stupid stuff back then. I wanted to hate her, but I couldn't. Maybe karma did catch up to her, but no one deserves to be cheated on, or made feel undeserving or not enough, regardless.
When you read this, don't get caught in the past- focus on what's going on now. Yes, he was fat and now he's not. Yes, she was popular and now she got dumped by her boyfriend and she's on the chubby side. None of that matters. What really matters is getting Brad to forgive, and getting Vivian to realize what's been there all along.
"'Do you understand that? I love who you are and I love who you were.'" Life separated them, but then life circled back, bent over, and did push-ups and jumping jacks to get them back together again, in the same town, at the same gym. Maybe life realized it had made a mistake too. So they get this chance to make it all worth it. A second chance at love with the person who was always meant to be, and to love each other with every inch of themselves.
Every Inch of You was a stand-alone by Kayley Loring. This was my first book by the author.
Vivian Sparks was still in a mourning state from her ex’s betrayal. They had been broken up for three months and she ate everything in sight as her coping mechanism. Her sister was now engaged and gifted a personal trainer to assist her in fitting into her maid of honor dress as well as to cure her depression. Enter Brad.
Brad Mitchell was an entrepreneur and a well known personal trainer in Portland. His incentive came from his overweight childhood where he was bullied. He was now a fitness god and gorgeous.
Brad and Vivian had history. He took the personal training client because he wanted revenge. He was “Fat Brad” in high school and got his heart broken by his best friend, Vivian. This was his chance.
Loring took us through the cold reunion between the two and the relationship development from one extreme to the other. It was a journey of second chances, new beginnings, forgiveness and self acceptance. It was a sweet, quick, sexy, humorous and enjoyable read. It would be a great start to the series with multiple possibilities for more stories, such as Connor, Sebastian or Marnie. Hint Hint.
3 1/2 stars, I have mixed feelings about this book. The hero was chubby and was made fun of when he was younger, the heroine and he were friends, then the heroine blooms and dates the popular guy at school who is horrible to the hero. Now the heroine has been dumped and gained weight and needs to loose weight for her sisters wedding. Enter the hero, now he is very successful owning a gym and very fit. When he see's the heroine he wants revenge but also knows he still finds her attractive, and the heroine can't believe how the hero has turned out.
One minute I really liked this book then I would get really frustrated and irritated with both the hero and the heroine depending on the situation. At times after they both liked each other they were both still ok with hooking up with others(thinking about it) and it felt like would have been just fine going with someone else. I also didn't like that when they were in high school she dates and sleeps with the jerk who treats him so horribly, sorry if he was my friend I would never be with someone who is so horrible to my friend. I liked this couple together a lot I guess I just wish they saw it that way as well and at times it didn't feel that way. I'm not saying that happened all the time but some of the things that went through both of their thoughts just seemed off to me and not what someone in their situation and relationship should think.
This book was pretty average. The plot was promising, but due to the basic writing and the lack of character development, it left me feeling decidedly underwhelmed.
To be fair, I knew things weren't going to go well after I had already been annoyed by two things in the first chapter (The heroines sister called to tell her she was engaged, then told her she had to lose weight, and her cheating ex-boyfriend and his new fiancee were going to be at the wedding - where's the loyalty?!). Anyway, things never really improved from there. I thought the H was petty for holding on to things that happened in high school - eight years earlier. I thought the h was shallow for her insta-wannafuck crush she developed on her former friend. I mean, I could understand the attraction, but she was so horny about it. I wish she would have cared more about the fact she was back in touch with her old BFF, than her desire to bang him.
Anyway, aside from those little niggles, I also wasn't a particular fan of how fast paced things happened between the MC's. There wasn't enough build up or angst, I didn't feel any chemistry, and I didn't care for either of them. It would have been a much sweeter story if they had at least become friends again first, before they fell in to something more.
Absolutely pathetic heroine that chases after the hero like a loser after him shitting on her multiple times.
A worthless excuse for a man as a hero that can’t get over the heroine not having gone to prom with him in high school. What a whiney little bitch.
The heroine chases after him all throughout the book even after he makes comments about him not wanting anyone to know they’re together. What kind of imbecile allows a man to treat her like that, especially after having just ended a relationship with a cheater.
i'm all for a revenge romance but why in the hell was brad so damn pissy?? he held onto a dumb grudge for way longer than any adult should. yes the h was not as good of a friend as she should have been in hs but you respond to an email with that info and then let. it. goooooo.
the revenge reason was so dumb that the rest of the story was unenjoyable.
so many of these books think they are being funny when all they are is convincing me that there are so many uninteresting and childishly annoying people in the world who find this behavior cute. the random asides, tangents, and digressions were not as hilarious as loring thought they were.
had some potential but like a lot of books, fucked it up.
A beautifully written feel good second chance/friends to lovers romance. There are some steamy romance scenes that are nicely written and there's good character development. Nothing much really happens re the back story, except for the developing relationship. I would say it's cute and lovely to read if you are wanting all the feels. 3.5 stars.
Up to 60% but can’t get any further. This book had a lot of potential because the author seemed witty enough to bring her characters to life and the female lead was actually funny at times but the plot and storyline isn’t enough to keep this book going. It’s amateur reading to me....very mundane unfortunately
This book is pretty hilarious. I laughed pretty hard a couple of times.
Vivian is having it pretty rough, she was cheated on. She is now depressed, but at least she has her cat Justin Timberlake to keep her company. Her sister is getting married, and she finds out that the ex who cheated on her is engaged to the slutface. Vivian's sister signed her up for the gym to get in shape. Mitch the hunky trainer remembers Vivian. Once Vivian discovers who Mitch is she regrets what she did to him in high school.
I'm so impressed with the charm and wit of the characters both Brad and Vivian. It's a classic first love never die. I had so much fun reading this book. Thanks Kayley, good job!
Three months ago, Vivian's boyfriend dumped her. The same boyfriend she upended her life for so that he could accept a great job. She has been eating her feelings and wallowing in her post breakup funk, when her sister calls her to announce that she is not only engaged but that the wedding will be held in three months and that Vivian is a bridesmaid. And that said boyfriend is in the wedding party with his new fiancée! There is another little problem: she has already bough Vivian a dress. A dress that is two sizes too small. She apparently did that to make Vivian get out of her funk and get back in shape. She also announces that she hired the best personal trainer in town to get Vivian into that dress.
Enter Mitch, personal trainer extraordinaire, with the body of a greek statue, who makes heads turns when he walks by. But Mitch is not exactly Mitch, he is Brad Mitchell, Vivian's childhood friend. He's the chubby teenager that was her best friend in high school, the one she "practiced kissing" with, the one that, when she got "popular", she dumped for the guy who bullied him, the one whose prom invitation she refused because she was going to the prom with his nemesis. Feelings resurface, good and bad ones. Can the hurts be forgiven and forgotten and lead to a future together, even if just as friends?
I confess I was afraid of reading this one. I don't like the whole "revenge weight loss" idea. AT ALL. But I trusted Kayley to make me like Brad/Mitch and Vivian. And she did.
We all know how high school can be hell: the pressure to fit in, the need to belong. I was really pissed at Vivian for doing what she did to "Fat Brad"and I totally understood why Brad felt the way he did. Since most of the book is how they deal with their past and how they get to be together I am not going to say much more so as to not spoil anyone. Well, it IS a romance novel and it does have an HEA, so you know you will get all the feels in the end.
Kayley makes you like Vivian - she is a hoot - so you try to forgive teenage Vivian and root for her. And for those who think that Brad was holding a grudge for too long, well, you definitely have never been bullied. That was him switching self-preservation mode. You do what what you have to do. Good for him that he turned that into a career and a new way of life.
Ah, and the epilogue is so cute! I am a sucker for epilogues and I loved this one!
Possible triggers: fat-shaming, body image issues, cheating (not main characters), bullying
I’ll be honest.. I’m conflicted over this book because I really, really, really wanna give it five star on goodreads but for some reason I can’t. The story is about Vivian an Brad. The two were best friend during their junior high, she was the new girl in school and him was the fat guy, Fat Brad indeed. They become friends over things like the Game of throne’s book and tv series. During theirs senior year, unfortunately, things change and the two stop to talking each other. Fast forward, eight years later, Vivian - recently dumped by her ex-boyfriend who’s now engaged whit the chick he cheated on her with- is forced by her sister to join a gym to lose some weight for her bridesmaids dress (a dress specifically buyed two sizes smaller) because of the wedding. The same wedding in which her ex is gonna be the groomsman. Guess who is now the not-so-fat personal trainer hired by her sister? Yes, hot Brad who had blamed her for his broken heart and is now determined to get his revenge with a lot of exercise! So, let’s get back. Why I can’t give it five star? Let’s just say that I had not liked the style of the writing. I was unable to connect whit the style of the author. It wasn’t bad written (let’s clarify it.. indeed far from that!), but some scenes seemed to me more like a bunch of annotations than a structured line. It’s not my style. However, apart from that, I liked so much the book. Vivian was hilarious ( I wish I could live some hours in her head ), a woman who knows what she want and is not afraid to admit past mistakes. Brad on the other hand was a man with a great body but who, inside, is still the fat guy bullied in high school. He is not the classical hero I prefer, but I really appreciate to read of a man who deep down has his own’s insecurities that hold him back most of the time. It was refreshing to read about him, too often the role is reversed in romance books. Said that, I sure recommend this book because, as I said, it was a really funny read!
Thoughts during first chapters:So this book made me cry because Vivian was terrible. She let him get bullied and she was the cause for a lot of the bullying. This would have been a fun get revenge on all the bullies books. I hope he doesn't forgive her because bullying is serious. She was a horrible friend and she doesn't even care that he got bullied when he was little. People keep saying get over it but what if he developed a eating disorder. I'm sure if it was the other way around Brad would be the bad guy but since it's a girl who bullies the fat guy no one cares. I don't really like this book but I'm going to finish anyway.
Vivian let popularity get to her head even if she didn't do it on purpose. It would be great if the other brad broke her heart since the current Brad isn't thinking straight.
Thoughts after reading: DNF. I'm sorry but in every other book, I get lost in the story like I'm watching a movie but I couldn't connect to this. I don't like Vivian after chapter 2 and I'm never going to like her. I hate how her bullying is downgraded like it doesn't matter. I stopped at 33% because Vivian had no intention of apologizing for what she did to him. She's a disgusting person.
This book got a one star because of the writing and Brad. I think he deserves someone who won't just be with him because he's sexy. I tried to forget what she did but every chapter in her point of view she kept saying how she wanted to sleep with him because he's hot.
Nothing about his personality or who he turned out to be. I hate that Brad gets married to her when she doesn't even love him. I hate not finishing stories but this was the only one. This author is amazing so read every other book but this one. I don't know what's he was thinking.
Brad had every right to be an “asshole” to her even though he was just keeping his distance. She never apologized. She was a junior and knew what she was doing. She was never held accountable for what she did. I live Brad though.
This is a story about a man, a personal trainer, who still has trouble shaking the child within—a sweet chubby kid who was ridiculed and bullied. He conquers his fitness problems, but still hasn't conquered his hurt and insecurities, so it leads to complications in his relationship with Vivian. Vivian on the other hand still feels guilty and sad about the way things went down in their senior year of high school, aaaaand……now he's really hot so she is all of a sudden attracted to him. She is reeeeeally aggressive at first but he keeps her at a distance by being all clinical with fitness science, and that allows him to stay angry at her as opposed to admitting that he had and still has romantic feelings for her. How they finally resolve all that and find their HEA is the journey that we take along with them. This is a really sweet couple that you can't not love and root for.
One thing that I really like about Kayley Loring's writing is that she always includes little bits of wisdom in her stories. Some nuggets from this book:
Larry: "Who cares [about the details of the break up]? You want her, go get her."
Larry: "A broken heart is an open heart."
Winston Churchill: "If you're going through hell, keep going."
No matter how I feel during the reading of a Kayley Loring book, at the end I'm always saying "Aww". Her stories might take you on a roller coaster ride, but they always have heart, and the epilogues always make me melt.
This story was no different. First I was laughing, then mad, then wistful, then touched, then sad, and finally my heart was warmed and I said "Aww" when I closed the book. I wasn't really sure how many stars I was going to give this book until those last few chapters, but as Brad would say, they were "just everything".
So if you want something light, funny, cute and steamy, with a sweet HEA, this is a good one.
For the most part when I fall into a bibliography rabbit hole with an author I really like, I enjoy most of their works. But there’s always one or two bodies of work that fall flat compared to the rest. In this case Every Inch of You fell in that category of flatter than an opened can of soda left out on a hot summer’s day. The H/h read off as completely shallow and one-dimensional.
Brad and Vivian were both annoying in their own special way. Understandably, Brad concocted a “revenge fantasy” plot to get back at Vivian for the way she treated him in high school. Although it is worth mentioning that she was to blame only by association which can really just be chalked up to the naïveté and stupidity that comes with youth. Her poor judgement when it comes to friends really had more to do with it. That’s not to say that she wasn’t stupid in the present either because she was definitely that with a healthy dose of desperation. Not really a good look on a woman especially when she’s trying to remake herself after getting out of a disaster of a relationship.
In the end, one dimensional characters and the lazy handling of the climax and resolution toward the end warranted the two-star rating for me. The writing was decent enough, but having read Loring’s other works Every Inch of You fell short and paled in comparison.
I really connect with Kayley Loring’s brand of nerd, because so far, I like everything’s she’s written. In this case, Brad/Mitch has remade himself from an ‘overweight’, defeated and bullied nerd type in high school to a fitness freak/Adonis who owns a gym-fitness center and is constantly hit on by women.
And in walks Vivian, after gaining 30 pounds following a break-up where her ex slept with another woman. Her sister wants her to fit into a bridesmaid dress and show up her ex and her ex’s new girlfriend who are also attending Vivian’s sister’s wedding. Was that clear as mud?
Mitch plans revenge on Vivian for her rejection of him years before, but inwardly, he still can’t resist her, and Vivian has her own plans because she never stopped liking Brad/Mitch. I found both characters to be genuine, with relatively complex feelings. And the black moments for each of them hit the right amount of bleakness. Sometimes, being in love isn’t always obvious.
(PS, the high school bully “gets his”, but in a totally Karmic way...there are no loose threads)
Kayley Loring has a way with romance. She captures the emotional confusion between friends who have hurt each other and the fragility of egos. This is the story of two friends who were the best of friends as teenagers during a transformative time in their life. Vivian was a younger sister who could be manipulated and Brad was a sensitive loner. Senior year of high school happened and blew their relationship up. Vivian tried to apologize but Brad rejected her and moved on using his anger to fuel his transformation into a muscular alpha male personal trainer and entrepreneur. Vivian rolled along and continued to make relationship mistakes eventually being dumped by her live in boyfriend and wallowing in wine, carbohydrates, and Netflix. Her older sisters short engagement until her wedding necessitates her engaging a personal trainer for Vivian to whip her back in shape for the wedding. And so Vivian is reacquainted with Brad and they have to work through the hurts and lose of trust they experienced. It is a charming story with real feelings. I think that Ms Loring truly understands love and what makes a relationship work.

My Thoughts This was really cute but Brad was quite hot and cold. It was very rom-commy.
I love Brad and Vivian as a couple. After so much miscommunication and missed chances during their teen years they were finally able to be together. I’m glad Brad was finally able to deliver his feelings and that Vivian’s ex got his dumb ass dropped in the same manner he dumped her. That was epic btw 🥰🥰.
I would have loved an extra epilogue showing them with the baby born, but I love that we got a brief look at their high school reunion and learning that the bully turned out to be an even bigger loser than expected. Brad got his dream of showing all those dumb kids that you should never pick on the fat kid, because you never know who he will turn out to be in the future!!
A overall great read, not much angst and lots are sexy time.. We even get cute kittens, studley (is that a word? Lol) man muscles, sisters who would do anything for their sibling and supportive secondary characters.
First time reading a Kayley Loring book, but I’m pretty impressed and will be checking out other titles by them.. on to the next book 😜😜😘😘
The Loring binge continues. This one is a second chance romance - Brad and Vivian were best friends in HS who were each other’s first kiss. He secretly loved her but it was HS so things didn’t work out and they lost touch after he cut off all ties. Now they’re back in each other’s lives and while he had a revenge fantastic of loving her and then leaving her, he realizes that he wants forever. Misunderstanding arises when V’s flu-ridden trainer let’s it slip but they obviously live HEA.
Vivian: “Nobody ever tells you when you’re a kid that the guy who makes you feel comfortable and good about yourself is the one you should give your heart to.”
Brad: “I love you, Vivian. I always have. I was so head over heels in love with you in high school. You’re the only girl I’ve ever loved. I never stopped loving you.”
Somehow I read this book just now. After over than 3 years of reading Kayley Loring's books, I came across this book only now. On one hand I'm really disappointed that I haven't read this perfect book until now! But on the other hand I am happy because I have now read this perfect book now! The tropes of former childhood friends and second chances is my weakness. Vivian and Brad's story was perfect. I loved it from the first line and I did not stop reading until I finished it - in one breath! This magical romantic feeling that a man or woman keeps true love in their heart for years feels full of emotion to me. This story was sexy, fun, light, very romantic and also made me want to go back to training after a year I hadn't.
Kayley's books always make me feel good. And this one was no different... Highly recommend!!
This book was a 10 star book! It was a lovely romance. Sexy, sweet, funny and absolutely perfect. Kayley has a way with words that brings all of her characters to life as if they are real! I really liked the deep love, honesty and compassion for each other that Viv and Brad had for each other. Their friendship was so sweet.... It touched my heart to read about when they were younger.... I loved that Kayley gave us an epilogue.... It was so satisfying! The perfect ending to a truly engrossing and enjoyable love story!!! I highly recommend this book. If you haven't read any of this author's books yet do yourself a favor and try one you will be so glad you did!!!!
Dumped by her boyfriend Vivian’s, sister drops the bombshell that she is getting married and her ex will be at the wedding. She signs Vivian up with a personal trainer to help shift those breakups pounds and imagine Vivian’s shock when she realises she knows the hottie trainer. Although she knew Brad when he was the pudgy guy from school and one of her friends!
What she doesn’t know is that she broke Brad’s heart and now he wants her to pay. The problem is that they both like each other. Is there too much heartache there though?
Aww I liked this story, but a little ‘let it go already’ moments for me
I am such a die-hard Kayley Loring fan that I read this book. I know, that sounds dumb, but I'm dyslexic. Reading (not writing) is torture for me. However, this book and four others are not in audio at the moment and I needed a rom-com fix. So, I settled into my listening couch (it's like a fainting couch that I listen to audiobooks on) I gathered my two dogs to get comfortable. Yes, sometimes I read to them - READ dogs aren't just for little kids. It was still torture, and being honest I know I would have enjoyed the audiobook far better. However, it was still fun and I'm glad I invested the time in it. That said, I hope this becomes an audiobook so I can really experience it.
Premise about high school friends who meet again as adults is good, but it seemed like the story was a bit simple, like details were skipped to keep the length short? I did like the main characters & I really liked the premise of the apparent change from Fat kid to hot guy who owns a gym, but many times story felt choppy.
I had a guy like this when I was in HS. I think he & I were very close. Then he asked me to prom & I turned him down to go with a not so nice good-looking older guy...Then I saw him at a much later reunion, & OMG! Yeah. How dumb are we when we’re in HS??
Spicy 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️ Dual POV Deals with body issues 3rd act breakup
They were friends in high school and basically she friend zoned him and broke his heart. There were 2 brad and she left one to be with the other, Hot Brad and Fat Brad, guess which one he is now. This book really hits you in how you felt in high school and how your insecurities are always there no matter how hard you try to stop those inner thoughts. It had moments of spice, cuteness and sweetness but watching him struggle with his insecurities really broke your heart. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book by this perspective, it’s usually the woman and it was really good.
Superficial characters & plot; manipulative sister who means well I guess but bullies her sister into a 2 sizes too small bride's maid dress and buys her a personal training package from her high school 'friend' so she won't look bad in the wedding photos. Brad is bent on revenge for how she treated him in high school, 8 years ago. Could have been an interesting, touching, story had they developed a friendship 1st; instead it's just endless chapters of foreplay, admittedly cleverly written, yet boring to me. The only drama was she forgot to charge her phone (really?) and didn't see his messages for a day. Anyway, easy read to pass time.
