Precio Brothers #2

Nacho Boyfriend

Rate this book
I have a secret bigger than my restaurant's burrito grande. IGNACIO That woman everyone saw me fake kissing is not my girlfriend. Somehow a small favor turns into a recipe for disaster and the only way to fix it is to add a little spice, let it simmer, and serve it hot. We might be cooking up a fake relationship, but even pretend kissing Olive is muy delicioso. OLIVE You know the massive crush on your boss is getting out of hand when you enthusiastically volunteer to be his fake girlfriend. Yup. That’s what I did. But only because his grandma caught us stirring up some salsa, if you know what I mean. Is it my fault he’s hotter than sizzling fajitas? I’m talking super caliente, my friend. Now we’re deep in this ruse and those fake kisses are starting to feel all too real. I need to remember that Nacho is not my boyfriend before I get burned.

I've been anticipating this one since finishing The Hate Zone. Ignacio Precio is the grump you cannot help but love. A true curmudgeon whose soft side peeks out to show kindness to the newest server at his restaurant, Olive. Get ready for superb food descriptions that'll make you drool. Yum!

Olive was a fun character! With her gnome decor and plethora of festive leggings, she is definitely a quirky one. The human equivalent of pop rocks, according to Ignacio. I loved seeing her bring a little chaos to his life. The first kiss is one to remember, let me tell you! As the two are roped into a fake dating arrangement, the laughs and chemistry were thriving!

This had a touch of suspense, too, which was an unexpected yet fun change of pace. And above all, read it for the attacking turkeys scene. It genuinely made me laugh out loud. I'm looking forward to book three!

Sweet but simple. Maybe 3.5 stars? I guess the best way I can describe how I feel about this book is a smiling nod. Like, yeah it was nice and sweet, but do I have any other thoughts? No, not really. I don't know if I'd go out of my way to recommend this, but I definitely won't dissuade you from reading it.

And I'm out.

5⭐

I knew this was gonna be amazing because the first book was near perfection and this did not disappoint. It made me laugh out loud, giggle, blush, the whole works. I couldn't put it down.

The plot with the whole fake dating plus the side plot was executed so well. I'm now obsessed with the grumpy x sunshine trope. The family dynamic in this made it 10x better! The tension in this had me giggling like a school girl. I must say the subconscious sexual innuendos made me laugh. I'm ready for book 3.

This is a must read it you like a family-oriented, low spice romcom.

Even on 2x speed I can't make myself finish this book. The second hand embarrassment is way too strong. The hero tries too hard to be a grumpy bad boy and heroine is so "quirky" and "clumsy" that I can't stomach another second of this book. Super unrealistic characters and I'm starting to wonder if it's an issue with the romcom genre or this book in particular.

Nacho Boyfriend is the 2nd book in the Precio Brothers series.

Olive is a Christmas loving Jewish girl, full of sunshine and joy. Ignacio is a Mexican grumpy man from a strict Catholic family.

This book has everything I love. Grumpy sunshine trope. Talks of food food food and not just any food, but my favorite, Mexican food.

I read this in vacation in Cabo so I was thankfully surrounded nonstop by delicious Mexican food.

Olive and Ignacio are adorable together.

I was able to listen to this one and I thought the narration was perfect. The 2 narrators fit the MCs perfectly.

Loved it! SO MUCH

2.5 stars.

It’s no secret that I’m the newest Gigi’s crazy fangirl since I’ve read the first book of the series and how much I loved it. However, unfortunately I feel like Nacho Boyfriend didn’t reach its full potential.

Nacho and Olive were so cute together but it seemed like they weren’t protagonists of their own book, which is very disappointing. Everything was stealing their spotlight, like the amount of family scenes. I LOVE the Precios and it’s heartwarming to read their scenes, but I feel like a few of these scenes could be easily replaced with Nacho and Olive. Also, the ending was really fast paced and badly explained… That annoyed me a bit too.

Overall, it’s a funny short book, great to spend your time. Sooo excited to see how Mateo’s book goes!!

Thank you to the author for the complimentary ARC audio version.
Grumpy/sunshine, fake dating, closed door romance.

When quirky, friendly Olive gets a job as a server working on a catering gig, she makes quite an impression on Ignacio, the serious, grumpy head chef. Their paths cross again when she shows up to work at his family restaurant. The addition of an LA surfer gang was a unique twist (do those really exist?). I loved the part where Olive and Ignacio go to Arizona to celebrate his Abuelo's birthday and she continues to make quite an impression. I mean, what do you when you go down on one knee to catch a scorpion in a box, and your entire extended family (watching from a distance) thinks you've just proposed to your fake girlfriend?

This is book #2 in the Precio brothers series. I haven't read book #1, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. When quirky, friendly Olive gets a job as a server working on a catering gig, she makes quite an impression on Ignacio, the serious, grumpy head chef. Estoy obsesionado con los Precio Brothers!
Especialmente, Ignacio!!! 😍

I thought I loved The Hate Zone. And, I do! But, that love is nothing in comparison with my love for Nacho Boyfriend!!!

Gigi, what did you lace this book with? Because I’m addicted!

This book was just as caliente/picante as the first book!
Olive and Ignacio were absolutely amazing together! I made so many notes while reading this book. More than I ever have, I believe! At almost half way through, I already knew this was a 6 ⭐️ read! Yes! I said 6! 😂

Ignacio… 🥵
I mean call me butter in his pan because he MELTED me! 🫠😍😍
Like, we are talking a new addition to favorite Book Boyfriends ever!

I loved watching him fall for Olive in all her bright, bubbly, gnome loving glory!
Olive was so likeable and hilarious! I laughed out loud so many times and swooned HARD so many times! 😍

I really don’t think there was anything that I didn’t like or love in this book! It was just so good!

Oh and did I mention that the next book in the series is a Brother’s best friend romance??
It’s only going to get better from here my friends!

I’m SO EXCITED! 😄🧡

Wow, I loved this book so much!! I knew I would enjoy it after reading The Hate Zone last month, so as soon as I finished all my ARCs and buddy reads, I was so excited to jump back into the Precio Brothers. Nacho Boyfriend lived up to all my expectations! It made me really happy and laugh super hard!

Fake dating is my favorite, and this was done so well! They didn’t question every single action, and just had fun and went with it. The transition from “fake” to “real” was perfect and had some extra funny twists.

Olive was a big ball of quirky sunshine and Christmas joy. Chef Crabby Cakes, aka Ignacio, was like a latino Thor. They were downright adorable together!

Some things I absolutely loved:

🌮 Olive’s constant word vomits
🌮 Hilarious Precio Family dynamics
🌮 The Serendipity references
🌮 Christmas everything but she’s Jewish
🌮 Turkey attack
🌮 Delicious food descriptions
🌮 Precio Sunday dinners
🌮 Obi Juan Kenobi
🌮 Scorpion scene

🔥: Nacho Boyfriend is a closed door romantic comedy with mild swears, steamy kisses, and humorous innuendo.

I love nachos...and I love Nacho!

Ignacio, aka Chef Crabby Cakes, lives up to his name. Not only is he a Mexican chef extraordinaire, but he's a slightly grumpy fellow. I loved his big, loud, spanish-speaking family and the camaraderie, loyalty, and teasing they all dish out. The Precio brothers are the best! All it took was one humorous meet-cute after another with curvy, vivacious Olive for me to be completely hooked to this story.

Olive and Nacho. Nacho and Olive. They are the best combination ever! The way they play off each other and complement each other so well had me swooning from the start. There are so many great moments and one of my favorite tropes: a fake relationship. When fake turns real, the sparks really fly!

I love that Olive is Jewish, yet she's all about Christmas everything and all year round. I love all the gnomes and the Star Wars costumes. She spews words in the most delightfully awkward ways and she is such a happy burst of sunshine.

Ignacio is a slightly stiff, buttoned-up type of guy, but his protective nature is so sweet. The scorpion scene had me laughing so hard. His virile swagger and charisma had me melting into a puddle of goo--right along with Olive.

But it's not all romance and swoon. The notorious surfer gang added some danger to this book and I loved the whole package. There's so much to love about this story the characters, and the whole series, and I can't wait to get my hands on more.

Content: mild moments of danger/peril; PG-13 romance (some innuendo, slightly spicy romance--closed door); mild language

What an overall fun and hilarious read! You’ve got an opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, fake dating scenario that is perfecto. I just love Nacho and the Precio family. I think having lived with a Mexican step-dad for several years growing up and being around his family really makes me appreciate the way the Precios are written—the phrases, food, and the atmosphere is something I recognize and it is nostalgic—but I am so white, literally and figuratively, so I relate to the “outsiders.” I still can’t roll my tongue at all, and boy have I tried over the years. I also don’t like tajin or any kind of chile candy. Don’t hate me. I’ll take a good horchata and some carnitas. 🤣

And also, one of my close friends is Jewish and it was so fun to have that aspect thrown in and recognize the traditions and food on Olive’s side too.

Things I Loved:
-Tia Lucy & Olive’s Cake Massacre
-Bug misunderstanding
-Emergency Chocolate
-Little Orangie
-Bathroom Stall Guy
-Obi Juan Kenobi
-Star Wars & Space Balls references (that I only got bc of my husband’s influence—I was reading him those scenes 🤣)
-Mezuzah heist
-Gaggle of turkeys
-“Why is there a dead scorpion in the Altoids?”
-‘Las Mañanitas’ fiasco
-“You’re not a bad cook,” I say. “You're just a really hot kisser.”
-Operation Nacho Cheese
-Gnome throwing
-Hanukkah Harry leggings
-& a HEA happy enough to make you squeal. So cute! 😍

There is heavier innuendo than my usual reads and mild swearing, but this is still definitely a sweet read/closed door romance. ♥️

• Fake Relationship
• Grumpy Sunshine
• Sweet RomCom
• Foodie romance element

I was eagerly awaiting the release of Nacho Boyfriend after meeting Ignacio in the first Precio brothers book (The Hate Zone), and I have to say I was not disappointed. I really loved both Ignacio (aka Chef Crabby-Cakes) and Olive.

I love a lighthearted romcom, and this one delivers that classic romcom feel – I could definitely see it as a film. I liked how different our two leads were – I found both to be interesting and likeable. I loved Olive with her sunshine energy and her gnomes. I also love a book featuring a grump hero – and one that can cook? Yes please! I thought the two brought some great banter and chemistry and I loved that we got a dual POV so we got some insight into both of them on their thoughts / feelings throughout the story.

Once again, I loved the great family dynamic – it’s a big, loud, quirky and fun family. The descriptions really make me feel like I’m there and I can not wait for each of the Precios to have a love story unfold. Special shout out for Abuela, because she had me laughing. Without any spoilers I will also say that the scenes featuring Altoids and Turkeys really had me cracking up.

This was a fast, fun and really funny romcom read – I was smiling the whole read through. Can’t wait to see what is next for the Precio siblings and can only hope we’ll get to see more of Ignacio and Olive in those books too!

(4.5 stars) - loving this series!

Every bit as entertaining as the previous Precio brothers' stories!

I wasn't sure about Olive at first as she seems so ditzy, but she's just determined to find happiness in life wherever she can. Ignacio is almost the opposite, but it turns out that he has the weight of the world coming down on his shoulders.

I loved seeing how stiff, perfect Ignacio almost unconsciously begins to relax around Olive. And really enjoyed the point when he finally just lets go under the stress and goes a little crazy with her at the schmucks' party.

Totally fun! I wish we had gotten a wrap up of the restaurant situation & the stuff with Pancho 2 but perhaps that's going to be addressed in the upcoming books

*Romance level: passionate kisses, a little on the spicier side, but nothing graphic

*Language: minor/mild

*Religion: Olive is Jewish, though definitely more by birth than faith; Ignacio & his family are Catholic - though it also seems to be more by birth than faith

This book was hilarious 😂
The Precio family is always full of craziness. I love Nacho, guys who cook are top tier in my opinion.
This book is so opposites attract, it’s so funny how different their personalities are. Olive was such a funny character, she was a little all over the place at the beginning and I wasn’t sure how it was gonna go, but I really liked her and she helped Ignacio to focus less on work and enjoy life more.
There’s always a hilarious animal scene in every book in this series. In The Hate Zone it was chickens and now we have turkeys. I couldn’t stop laughing.
All the conversations between Olive and his family were amazing. I love their Abuela so much, she does not play around 😂 Also, no third act break up, I’m obsessed when books don’t do that 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Overall, a super light and fluffy read!

I was surprised how fast I read this book, the second day of reading g I looked up and was at 70%, lol. It was fun and action packed so it made you not want to stop.

It starts with Nacho helping Olive make her ex-douche of a boyfriend jealous and then when his abuela see’s, well, they have to keep playing along.

The world Gigi has created is so great! The Precio Family is big, loud, and fun and Olive is thrusted into their chaos looking like a deer in headlights!

✨Nacho Boyfriend is second in the series but can be read as a standalone✨

Seriously, I love Gigi’s book. They are closed door and fun. It’s an escape from reality that I’m always happy to take.

I swear I read this book for "research purpose."
And I really liked it.
Both the characters were nice. The story is also good but i think something is missing (will let you know what it is when i remember) and it doesn't really makesense which i enjoyed lol.
Loved how nacho thought olive was strong and capable more than people realise she is.
This was my first gigi blume book and i might read others too.

A super fun, fake dating, dual POV, interfaith/interracial romance that sees a chef/restaurant owner falling for one of his employees who his family mistakenly thinks he is dating. Full of great banter, swoony moments, some suspense and lots of family drama. I love how this author can make me fall in love and not miss that her books are kissing only stories! Great on audio too and highly recommended!

Definitely better written than The Hate Zone. Characters still not that well defined, but better than the previous book.

It hit all the "fake dating" tropes you could want and still love the Precio Family antics 🙂

Audiobook review:

This book is HILARIOUS!! I laughed so loudly at one point that I may or may not have woken up the dogs. Oops.

Olive and Nacho (since I listened to the audiobook, I don't know how to spell his given name) are the perfect grumpy/sunshine balance. The narrators did a PHENOMENAL job with the voices, and I'm actually really glad I listened to the audio instead of trying to read it myself. Not being one who speaks Spanish, I would have completely butchered the language, even in my own mind, and these narrators spoke it beautifully.

Now, having said all that, I would not listen to this in front of my younger children, as there are a few curse words in the book, and some innuendo. But I'm all grown up and can handle those things. 😉

Will I listen to this again? You bet your buttons I will, and I'll seek out the others, too!

“𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐲, 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞. 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞.”

i have officially fallen in love with gigi’s writing. she just has this special way with words that i totally vibe with. i have 63 highlights, guys. no joke!! i looooooved olive and ignacio! i had ignacio pegged in “the hate zone” as a grump and her surely lived up to it!! i’m claiming him, ladies!! olive has turned out to be one of my favorite heroines. you can’t help but fall in love with her. this was a true romcom. i was laughing soooooo much and i just have to thank @biblioblondes for the unofficial buddy read!! at the same time, i was swooning all over the place. this book sealed the deal for faking dating being one of my favorite tropes. let me convince you just a little bit more with some of my favorite things (may be spoilery-beware):

•”play along with me.”
•he grumbles, growls, and does all the grumpy things
•who knew flipping food on the stove could be so hot!??
•and don’t get me started on food courts
•star wars and obi juan kenobi
•olive’s festive leggings and crocs
•ignacio’s abuelo and abuela — both hilarious in their own right
•the scorpion moment
•ignacio appreciating and loving olive for who she is and supporting her
•he cooks! “you’re so hot when you cook.”
•angry turkeys
•”i am wrecked.”
•my new favorite word — scrummy
•party shenanigans
•when he sees her in a dress — thank goodness for bike shorts
•alllllllll the swoony kisses — i die!

3.5 I think

It was simple and cute and there was no third act breakup thank god. It was a speedy little read and I had a good time for the most part! Also no spice, just a few make outs which is a nice change of pace. I enjoyed the fake dating trope it was cute. My real gripe is that I was really trying to have a good time and then every time I come across a super cringy piece of dialogue and that just ruined everything. Yummilicious??? Spare me 😫

Nacho Boyfriend was a really sweet romance that packs all the laugh-out-loud moments, a slight mystery, big family meetings, and all the sizzling chemistry. I really liked meeting Ignacio and Olive, and they ended up being what the other needed. I think the fake dating trope was done well, and it brings all the "let's kiss because they're watching" moments. My heart definitely went to Olive and her past (relationship and work experiences), and it was really sweet how that intertwined with Ignacio, his need for a new waitress, as well as someone who could let him see (or remember) there's more to life than work. It was also fun to see the interaction between a Catholic and a Jewish, and how she fit into his big family. This book definitely stands on its own since the characters of the previous one make a couple of appearances but are not the main focus (just enough to know how they're doing).

The narrators really brought the book to life and I loved both Olive's voice, how upbeat and refreshing she was, as well as Ignacio's, who was all deep, smooth, and definitely nailed the gravelly tones. I could definitely listen to both of them for hours. As a native Spanish speaker myself, I also really liked how the author (realistically) explained the fact that the offspring of native Spanish speakers raised in the US may not have perfect Spanish (especially if they're the grandchildren of said Mexican immigrants). I think the narrators were also good with this point, but in contrast, it made Abuela's character a bit off, since she's the one who's supposed to have perfect/fluent Spanish yet there were a couple of pronunciations, or rather phrases, that were off (like "tú eres uno para hablar", which is a literal translation of "you're one to talk" but not exactly how it's said in Spanish, just to name an example). Besides this issue though, both narrators did a really great job with all the voices and characters, and I think most listeners and/or fans of this series will thoroughly enjoy their performance.

Overall, this is a really hilarious and closed-door (no on-page sex, alluded to in the epilogue) rom-com that, as the blurb says, delivers on the steamy kisses and innuendo, besides the mild swears. Based on that, I won't be following any more of the books in this series. ~ Story: 4 stars, Narration: 5 stars, Overall: 4 stars.

Review of Audiobook
What a fun story! I’m really digging the whole Precio family. They’re just a wealth of funny moments and endearing characters. And Olive was so much fun herself, too. She just fit right in with the family. I found her very relatable. I loved how organically the feelings between Olive and Ignacio grew beyond their initial attraction. Fake relationship stories can be a bit strange, but this story just made it humorous, with the family’s over exuberance being so much of the driving force behind it. Lots of funny, fun, cute, and swoony moments. Even a little action related to problems with a gang. I enjoyed the whole book. The epilogue was adorable. So sweet.

The narration is great. Both narrators have excellent voices to listen to and convey emotion and different character voices so well. I enjoyed listening to them.

This is book two in the Precio Brothers series. I really enjoyed book one, but I loved this one even more. I’m excited for all the stories to come. Thank goodness there are so many brothers! There are also ties to Francesca’s story in another series. While it would enhance the reader experience to read the other books, this story absolutely works as a standalone.

It’s difficult or me to go back and check an audiobook for language, and I can’t use my kindle translation feature on it (since I know zero Spanish), so relying on my memory, I will say that if there was any harsh language, it was mild, brief, and very infrequent. I don’t really remember anything significant, to be honest. The story is closed door, but there is some mild innuendo, and the kissing scenes are pretty sizzling.

THESE voice actors are amazing! They embody the adorable characters Gigi created, and pulled me in to the last paragraph. (I even listened to the ending credits.) To be fair, I own and have read the book before, so I knew this was an adorable grumpy/sunshine story.

What I found out by listening to this is that I can actually enjoy listening to books! I never have before. I'm one of those ADD people who are easily distracted, and I'm used to cardboard voices reading audiobooks. I am usually frustrated early on in the reading, and can't finish. The fact that I couldn't wait for an opportunity to put in my AirPods and listen surprised me to no end!

Highly recommend. Even for ADD people who don't like audiobooks. ;-)

This was my first fiction audiobook, and only second audiobook ever, but while it's still not my preferred format for reading this one was done well and held my attention as much as an audiobook can. The narrators definitely helped keep me engaged, especially the narrator for the FMC.

Olive, recent LA transplant from New Jersey, is working as a waitress at the wedding of restauranteur Ignacio Precio's brother, when an unfortunate accident leaves her being dismissed. As her bad luck would have it, her next temp assignment sends her to work at Ignacio's family restaurant. He decides to give her a second chance, and her sunny personality quickly gets under his grumpy skin. After his visiting grandmother mistakes them for being in a relationship, they decide to keep up the ruse until she returns home to Mexico City. With his meddling family keeping a close eye on them, they find themselves getting deeper and deeper into their deception, and their feelings. Even though this is a closed door rom-com, there was enough flirty banter and innuendo to keep me on my toes. I enjoyed reading about the differences between Nacho's Mexican-American culture and Olive's Jewish background. This was a cute read and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

🧡 Thank you so much to Gigi Blume for sending me the audiobook of Nacho Boyfriend to review!

This was my first Gigi Blume read, and now I'm fully on board.

This is a perfect book. Something I wish I had written. My favorite read of the year so far 👌🏼

I love these characters with my whole chest. I'm not Jewish, but I related to Olive in almost every other regard. And freaking Ignacio? Where do I sign up for a sexy Latino chef for a husband?! Seriously, point the way. Also the Precio family is darling. To be protected at all costs.

Everything about this book worked for me. I loved reading this with bilingual eyes. The low conflict/no breakup ending was perfectly executed and the writing style/voice is right up my alley. Loved the humor and the innuendo, made me die laughing multiple times. Dressing up in costumes for the party? Amazing. All the food references? Exceptional.

My only beef (no pun intended) with this story is it felt like there were some scenes missing. Like after the chapter ends and then she's at his family dinner after he said no? I want to see how we got there. The chapter ends where she's telling the story of the meet cute? I WANT TO SEE THAT.

But that's a tiny detail. This is still a ten star read for me. I'm getting myself a physical copy and recommending it to everyone I know.

Bravo, Gigi. I'll be back for more 😘

I’ve been eyeing this book for a while and am glad I finally read it. Gigi Blume has brought another winner in the Precio Brothers series. This book has it all. Workplace romance, grumpy/sunshine, a big, loud family dynamic and lots of cute little Christmas gnomes.

I love the bantering between Olive, our curvy lead heroine, and her boss/fake boyfriend Ignacio, aka Chef Crabby-Cakes. Olive is weirdly obsessed with Christmas (especially for being Jewish) and wears Christmas leggings daily and has Christmas gnomes covering her apartment. Ignacio runs his family’s Mexican restaurant chain and is a grumpy workaholic. Until he meets Olive. She’s unlike anyone he’s ever met before and he comes to her rescue when her ex boyfriend shows up at the restaurant. Ignacio’s family show up at the same time and see him “kissing” her, get the wrong idea, and it’s on from there. His Abuela is hilarious and a pretty much pushes them together.

This book is a clean, closed door romance with kissing only which usually isn’t my thing (I like some spice) but I enjoyed it. It’s a sweet and funny story with a large meddling family and a little bit of danger thrown in thanks to a notorious surfer gang.
