Rate this book

The books are filled with child-friendly color illustrations and easy-to-understand text. This reassuring book helps kids understand that sometimes, when they are sick, it is best that they go to a hospital. We recently spent a night in the hospital. The little guy had an appendicitis scare and luckily everything ended up being okay so it was just a 24 hour observation. He is now terrified of sharp points though and anything requiring a needle is going to be traumatic. I unintentionally took this book for two consecutive weeks. He insisted we read it a second time which I of course did. I know he's still figuring out all that went on during his stay. We "read" the illustrations more than the text so that he could see that the kids in the book had to wear ID bracelets and be hooked up to IV just like he did. He was concerned that the kids were crying in one picture but that was only because they had made friends with the other kids in the hospital and were sad to go.

Well, this one wasn't really about when ~ I ~ went to the hospital. I just needed some stitches on my lip. I don't think I would have STAYED there. This is for kids who need to STAY there. So I didn't really get a whole heck of a lot from this one.
Plus you know what else? This book smelled MOLDY! So maybe IT needs to go to the hospital!
