Campus Good Girl by Hallie Bennett is a short story about Emily, the quiet girl of campus, who is plagued with family issues that keep her awake at night. Landon is the popular basketball player who has a crush on the quiet Curvy girl much to amusement of his friends. Fast forward 10 years when they meet again at the Collage reunion, does he still feel the same?
I have to start by saying that this book just wasn't for me. I know it was a short story but everything about the plot just seemed over rushed, not one part of it was ever actually explored in any depth so even Emily and Landons relationship was purely surface level stuff. There was nothing memorable about this book and it seems that as soon as you read the last page you forget everything that happened in it.
Emily, as a character, wasn't too bad though she is a little bland, very naive and could do with growing a backbone. As it's a short story you don't go too deep into their lives which wasn't a problem, what I did have an issue with was Landon himself. I did not like his character at all, he's very possessive and domineering with Emily despite having only spoken to her twice in 10 years.
Their whole "relationship' didn't sit well with me either. They jump straight into a sexual insta love relationship all over the course of one day because Landon "claimed her" and apparently that's all it takes in this book to know someone has genuine feelings for you. There's nothing cute or romantic in this story, no taking about feelings or anything it's just Landon making desisions and crude sexual remarks and Emily excepting everything thinking it means love. He is definitely on the boarder line of being controlling which I didn't like and not something to base a relationship on.
I can't honestly think of anything positive to say about this book, it isn't anywhere near as good as the plot makes it sound so I don't recommend reading it.
