Sins of the Blood War #2

Stolen From the Demon Prince

Rate this book
The demon prince is possessive, jealous, and determined to protect what is his.

Can the prince ever see me, a former fae slave, as his equal?
Or will he always see me as only a possession to protect?

The longer Leo and I are in the demon kingdom, the more obvious it becomes to both of us that it's not safe for me to stay there with him. Demons want to take me from him at every turn, and rival factions are eager to use me as a pawn to hurt the prince.

When it seems impossible for us to be together, will the prince abandon his title, throne, and kingdom for me?
Or should I seek out the fae city and find a new home with my own kind?

Despite all of the forces working against us, deep down I know that the only home I've ever wanted was with him.

Unfortunately for me, there are demons who will refuse to let that happen.

All books in the Sins of the Blood War series contain spicy tension, deliciously steamy scenes, characters who talk (and curse) like adults, and occasional moments of violence. Leo's a prince who can do whatever he wants, after all, and in this book, what he wants is her.

Stolen From the Demon Prince is the second book in the Sins of the Blood War series, and it is as entertaining as the first. In it, Leo and Vera travel to the demon kingdom, which is an entirely different setting from the first book. It’s interesting to see the pair in this dangerous world, and since they are apart for some of the time, it’s fascinating to see how Vera adjusts to this completely different place while Leo unsuccessfully tries to maintain his distance from his father, his past, and more.

Vera has grown and changed a lot since the start of the series. As she works, fights, meets new people, and has a multitude of experiences (good and bad), Vera finds herself in a place where her safety is constantly threatened, and she becomes more aware of her role in Leo’s life and the complications that will arise because of it.

Leo has a lot of decisions to make, and though I didn’t always agree with his choices, I generally understood and sympathized with him. He struggles between his desires and his duty, and he can’t completely reject the throne for so many reasons. His father proves a manipulative and dangerous enemy. He’s the worst, and I can totally see why Leo tried to get as far away from him and his expectations. They are opposites in every way.

The book has some other new characters, and I’m seeing a love triangle that could jeopardize Leo and Vera’s relationship. Their feelings for and commitment to each other are put to the test throughout the story, and they spend quite a bit of time apart and not able to communicate. Plus, they both make some major mistakes, and lies, secrets, betrayals, and more plague the couple. Double plus, there’s a new, handsome male determined to show Vera how good they could be together, if she’d only give him a chance! Oh, and Leo has a connection to a gorgeous female that definitely changes things. I’m curious to see how all these relationships play out.

The story has a lot of action, excitement, and intrigue. It’s entertaining, and it ends on a cliffhanger that made me eager to see what’s in store for Leo and Vera next. Thanks to Inkslinger PR and Lauren Crowne for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

Maybe I am misremembering the characters personalities from the first book, but I couldn’t stand Vera’s inner voice in this book. I remember her having more passion for freeing her people but this book felt like a man wrote her inner thoughts. “Will Leo care that I did this? Will Leo care that I wore this? Will Leo…”
It became hard to read because I just wanted her to grow as a character or get back to her roots and it wasn’t happening.

Also their relationship has a very strong “daddy/baby” undertones and that’s not a plus for me. If that’s your thing maybe you’ll like how their relationship is developing more than I do.

The plot didn’t seem like it knew where it wanted to go and many scenes felt unnecessary. I might still finish the book series but this was a major let down compared to the first book in the series. This book was heavily themed around miscommunication/poor communication. If you take that concept out you don’t have a plot left; I personally am not a fan when the entire narrative revolves around this trope.

I also was incredibly dissatisfied in the ending. Not because of the cliff hanger, but because there is finally a moment for Vera to grow independently as a character and then it’s immediately shattered.

It’s just sad to have a book where the female lead started off on a journey of being a strong character and watching the writing have men constantly “save” her or “protect” her. It would be nice to see the author commit to having a strong female lead. Because you don’t have to make your character dependent on the male lead just to have a romance novel.

Not as good as the first, plot is not novel, characters are messy and uninteresting.

Book two had me gripped from almost the first page! You really do need to read book one before reading this one. And be prepared for the cliffhanger in this one! It took me by surprise 😉

Leo is the prince/captor/saviour and definitely Vera’s tormentor, he’s a genius with an affinity for tinkering and making new inventions. He’s addicted to his newest obsession, he can’t get enough of Vera.

Vera is just a fae slave, held for her blood and anything else that her owner wishes to do with her….
But she’s blossoming under Leo’s protection. She was pretty sassy beforehand, but she had to watch her tone, with Leo she can just be herself.

Being together has Vera’s powers coming into its own, but she doesn’t know when or what her powers are! It’s frustrating, is it being with Leo releasing her powers? Or was she just a late bloomer?

Being together feels right. But how can they be together, when both know it’s only a matter of time before something or someone tries to split the pair up!

So what path will she choose? Let’s hope we don’t have to wait to long to find out….

The characters are evolving and taking me by surprise in places.
We get to meet daddy dearest (and he’s really not a nice fellow!) and watch as factions of demons make a play for Leo’s kingdom! He needs to keep an eye out as they are after Vera (that’s his biggest weak spot!)

I do like this trilogy, it’s a little slow in places, and I wouldn’t really call it a dark romance, but it is good, and I would happily recommend this book and the previous one.

I for one was very happy that the second book was finally here. Stolen From the Demon Prince, book 2 in the Sins of the Blood War. Vera (Fae) and Prince Leo’s (Demon Prince) continues.

Get ready this book does end on a cliffhanger. Even though I was expecting the cliffie (after all it is a trilogy and this is the middle book) it didn’t help.

I still don’t see this as much of a dark fantasy/paranormal romance. I feel that it is lightly dark. Of course I do love dark romances so maybe that is why I feel that this book is lightly dark.

Vera (Fae) and Prince Leo’s story continues. They are now in the Demon Kingdom and we meet dear old (not nice) dad!

I love Vera and Leo’s story. Vera is finally coming into her powers. She doesn’t know when or how it’s happens!

I am so happy that I have discovered Lauren Crowne. I have a feeling I am going to enjoy her books immensely! 5 fairy and demon stars!

Things definitely heating up now that Leo and Vera are in the demon kingdom. Vera finds herself even in a battle having to use her fae skills. Leo has enemies to watch out for. Yet, Vera and Leo are stronger together. Which also makes their love for one another stronger as well.

I do like these books and the world that the author has built for this trilogy. It has been nice to see Vera grow stronger as the series progresses. Leo is great as he stands be her and supports and protects her. He would do anything for her. I will say that the steam level is light. So not as much a dark romance but a paranormal story with a dash of romance.

The only downside I have to these books is that I do find that they seem to move a bit too slowly for me. Yet, I do want to see this trilogy to the end.

This is the second installment in Vera and Leo's story. This ends on a cliffhanger, but the third book is available on KU.

We thought Leo and Vera lived happily ever after, but Leo has to travel to Vestia in his effort to free the Fae from slavery with his new drug Syn where Fae blood does not need to be used. Leo's plan is to relinquish the crown, but there are other things at play here. Leo worries for Vera, tries to hide her, and Leo's father-- the king-- finds her. So, Leo decides to send her away to the Fae city with the Fae she has befriended in the city of demons. Leo was gonna let her go for her own protection, but--

I like the addition of the new Fae characters and I'm more curious as to what Vera is. Why she doesn't have wings. Might she have some demon in her? Well, besides Leo. Guess we'll find out in the third installment.

Vera is a Fae or a Fairy and Leo is literally a demon prince. His father is the King of demons technically he's supposed to be next in line. He doesn't want it. There is way more to Leo than he lets on.

Vera is not free...she's not really a slave, just not allowed to do anything on her own. Her entire existence has been to prepare to be sold. She's finally put up for auction and is sold to Leo, Well Leo purchases her. Either way they are stuck with each other. They have to learn how to get along, prepare for the people that may come after them. All while trying to get to know and understand each other.

This book is excellent! Great story & characters. Amazing writing! Can't wait for the rest of them. Anxiously awaiting!

Highly Recommend!

I've read this whole series and it's well worth every minute! Vera is a fae slave, in love with a demon prince in a world where humans and demons rule and fae are shunned and detested. The girl has spunk! She's not afraid to say what she thinks or do what she thinks is the right thing, even if it puts her in danger. The characters are quirky, beautiful and well developed. The world building is awesome and opens up more and more with each book, where we learn about the demons, humans and fae relations and history. Crowne has built a very believable world with conflicts and personalities that resonate deeply. The steam is hot and well placed and doesn't over shadow the plot heavy story. 100% recommend this completed series.

TERRIBLE

Originally, I couldn’t think how to put into words what this one did to me and why I got so pissed off that I am DNFing it at 69%. But another reviewer managed to put into words everything I was feeling and it helped me get some clarity.

First, I hate the ‘helpless female can’t live without the male’ vibe that is going on. That’s not who Vera was in book 1. And I hate that that is how she is now.

Secondly, I hate this entire plot: that Leo thinks she is helpless and I feel he almost doesn’t have any respect for her because of it.

Third, the fact that Leo didn’t want to communicate with Vera about what happened to him, then he decided to isolate her with someone who he KNEW treated fae like trash and ALSO knew had a thing for him… the whole thing started to feel like one bad decision after another as a plot device just to give us more angst and conflict.

All of these choices and decisions were completely contrary to how the characters would have actually acted if they had remained consistent from the beginning of book 1.

And then there are so many weird plot holes or mistakes that I keep catching and I don’t want to keep going forward with this.

But I’m also angry because the entire first half to 60% of book 1 was SO, SO good. I hate that I was tricked like this.

Loved it

I had some many emotions with this book along with some many questions. I felt bad for Vera when Leo sent her away. Her heart has always been with Leo, I thinks that’s why she can’t allow her self to be happy with Laurie. Now I need to know what she is going to do. Stay in Rowan with Laurie or go home with Leo? will the two sides come together and end fae slavery without a war? I can’t wait for Book 3.

Stolen From the Demon Prince is the second book in the Sins of the Blood War series and is just as great as the first book. I really enjoyed getting back to Leo and Vera's story. It is well written, I like the characters (the good and the bad!), and I'm intrigued about the decisions Vera and Leo will take. I'm definitely invested in their journey, and I'm looking forward to book 3. The book ends on a cliffhanger, so hopefully, it won't be too long until the next book releases!

This was a rollercoaster. Leo decides to return home to denounce his claim on the throne but despite his warning of how dangerous it would be, Vera demands to go along. The demon domain is no place for a wingless fae as Vera soon discovers. She is seen as no more than a slave and is often called an insect. Hated, reviled and often subjected to verbal abuse. Leo decides he must do everything he can to protect Vera, even if she hates him for it.

A solid second instalment

What I loved most about this was feeling like it was political intrigue and hidden agendas. Moving around Vestia and seeing how that society works was quite entertaining. It does end on a bit of a cliff hanger so be ready to get the next book. Can’t wait for Book 3!

More twists and turns and drama as Leo and Vera's saga continues. So glad I had book 3 already so I could continue right on because otherwise I'd have been anxious to know what was next. I have so many theories after this book, because nothing is as it seems for sure. I have a feeling more bombshells are coming! But their love will win. Narrators bring the characters to life.

Stolen From The Demon Prince is book 2 in the Sins Of The Blood War series by Lauren Crowne.
If you haven't read book 1 Sold To The Demon Prince then I suggest you read that first.
This book had me gripped to the pages as Leo & Vera are visiting the Demon Kingdom and it's just so amazingly written.
The setting is quite different to book 1, but there's so much happening, especially Leo and the relationship to his father...
Decisions have to be made and it just keeps getting better...
If you don’t like cliffhangers than I need to disappoint you, there's a big one and oh wow, that was unexpected!!!
This series is guaranteed to keep you reading and wanting for more!!
Bring on book 3!!!
