Fans of James Patterson or Michael Connelly will love C. M. Sutter!
A lone high heel found on a sidewalk and a ticketed car set the week in motion for Savannah Homicide Detective Mitch Cannon, and each day gets worse. Bodies are discovered with only one thing in common—a lack of internal organs.
Is somebody in the Hostess City of the South conducting satanic rituals with innocent people or, even worse, trafficking organs to the highest bidder?
When all other leads fail, the chance sighting of a vehicle in question gives Mitch and his partner, Devon Rue, the break they’re looking for. Yet what they discover turns the case completely upside down.
Editorial Review “In Savannah, a young woman out for a night of barhopping with friends is reported missing. When her body is found, her vital organs have been removed, and Homicide Detective Mitch Cannon and the Savannah PD soon suspect organ trafficking is underway. As police fail to find any leads, tempers flare and tirades ensue in this nail-biter that will keep readers guessing who the perp is until the bitter end.” Angela M., Line Editor, Red Adept Editing

C.M. Sutter was born in San Jose, California and split time between the sunny California coast and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a senior in high school, she chose Wisconsin as her permanent address. After many years in the Badger State, she decided on a warmer year-round climate to call home and moved south. Years of progression took her from working in large companies, to twelve years as a massage therapist, and finally, owning a corporation. She has been self-employed for over twenty years. Ms. Sutter has been writing and self-publishing since 2014 with eleven titles published in a different genre. Because of her deep interest in crime and thriller novels, she took up writing in the police procedural/crime thriller genre in 2016.
An easy to read detective protocol done in easy mode. Spoilers ahead.
Finally done with the last in the series and a little sad I'm done. On one hand, they're not the best detective series. On the other hand, I've become attached to Mitch Cannon and Savannah Homicide.
Summary: A pair of serial killers have started killing random people and selling their organs. They snatch and grab and immediately sell their grisly merchandise to a middleman. Mitch and his partner Devon do their due diligence and finally catch a break.
To be honest, the writing is from what I call a Sunday afternoon author, someone who's not a professional. The writing is a bit simplistic and not the best, but is easy to read and follow. The biggest issue I have with the writing is that we see the crime from the criminals' POV as well. There is absolutely no need for that and the book would be a lot better and more intriguing if we didn't see that. If I were to start this book again, I would just skip the criminal's POV chapters. You wouldn't miss a thing and it would keep you guessing. Instead you already know all the wrong turns the detectives make as you know who the criminals are.
Apart from that, the dialog is sometimes a bit inane. There is some unnecessary action and dialog as in when the detectives get coffee, the whole process is described including them thanking each other. The characters are all a bit thin and everything is in easy mode. However, Mitch and his family are like a guilty pleasure and I like the books all the same.
GR only lists 2 books in this series but there are 5. I recommend that you read them in order. Run For Your Life Fight For Your Life Pray For Your Life Beg For Your Life Fear For Your Life
CM Sutter has written several other series. I'm now looking over them, deciding which series to try next and wondering if they also include the crim's POV and if I could skip those chapters.
Fear For Your Life is the fifth thrilling mystery written by C. M. Sutton in her Detective Mitch Cannon Heat Thriller series. This story is like nothing I have ever read before. The same fantastic characters with the mission to catch two brothers who are kidnapping, killing, and harvested body organs for money. The suspense keeps building within each chapter and the conclusion is jaw dropping. Another excellent read. This story will make you feel like you are on a ride along with the Detective's. I can only hope there will be more in this series.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful mystery that I can highly recommend to others.
I bought all six books and that’s why I still bother reading them.
Again, this one was bad. This book is 90% Mitch and Devon checking cameras (ngl, at least 20 cameras get checked in this book) and 10% rushed plot.
TJ aka killer 1 works at the bar (which was again an extremely predicatble plot twist) and does have inside information on the case, but he doesn’t mention anything to his brother? I mean, the stuff he learns is important if you want to stay out of the police’s grasp.
I don’t understand how there are six books in this series while so far only the second one was acceptable. All the other books are garbage.

This is the fifth book in the Mitch Cannon homocide detective series. Like the others, this follows Mitch as he and his partner try to solve a murder case, this one involving murders where the victims had vital organs removed from their bodies. An illegal human organ selling ring. The ending of this one felt very abrupt and unbelievable. Going from virtually no clues to figuring out who the murderers were in just a few pages. Then getting an instant confession from one of them just felt hurried.
But, too long. I'm well aware that police work involving murders often takes a lot of time running down false leads, conflicting witnesses, and no witnesses. I found myself skipping through pages of unnecessary repetition of the same dead ends.
But, the story was timely, as the type of crime which is the basis for this book is real.
I wish my kindle had a ten star this book was fabulous and as usual with CM's books I can not put them down can not wait for her next book to come out I highly recommend this book to everyone Dorothy Schaefer
Another awesome book in the Mitch Cannon series, you won't be able to put it down. I hope there will be another one this year! Thank you C M Sutter for a fantastic book.
When a single high heel shoe is found and a young woman is discovered in a marsh, Detective Mitch Cannon and his team are on the hunt for a killer. Can they catch him in time?
I loved this entire series. I am so sorry to have read the last book. I wanted it to go on forever and I don't typically feel that way, Mitch is a wonderful character and his interplay with his Mom and his sisters is wonderful. Please C.M. Sutter, keep this series going!
Another book that I couldn’t put down until I was finished. I enjoy a book that starts being exciting from the beginning. C M Sutter had never disappointed me with her books.
Loved Fear for Your Life! Kept my interest and couldn’t put it down! Mitch is a bad ass cop with a great family & set of friends that are there for him! The mysteries of his chase are always point on!
