“[Olly’s] techniques have made a world of difference. I was able to learn more in 9 months with his techniques than I did in the 6+ years in school” - Courtney Baird, successful language learner
i really resisted following his advice now I'm glad I did
In the beginning, I kept wanting to stop and look up every word. (So I highlighted the words I didn't know) and moved on. It's really strange, but day after day I just kept at it. About half way through, I caught myself starting to really READ it, and by the third part, I was reading. Just reading not translating, not feeling confused, just reading. And in the end I found it very enjoyable. For me, it really is a great process. I'm looking forward to reading more of his books.
Disfruté más con este libro que con su colección de cuentos y pude aprender filosofía mientras practicaba español.
Sigo prefiriendo los libros de Juan Fernández, porque los personajes y la trama son más divertidos. Pero si fueras a comprar un libro de Olly Richards y estuvieras interesado en la filosofía, te recomendaría este.
An excellent way to learn Spanish and overview of philosophy at the same time!
What I like most about this book was it was educational and a challenge at the same time to learn lots of new Spanish vocabulary since most the other books don't really talk about this sort of thing it really stretched my ability.
Eh, I guess this was about as good as I should have expected, but I was hoping for more. The philosophical discussion was pretty surface level. The dialogues between the characters were extremely forced.
Some sacrifices are made in the content to fit the format. Would definitely work for some people but the conversational format just wasn't what I was looking for.
