This book came to my attention as a freebie. I'm having a hard time choosing between 3 or 4 stars. It was going to be 4 stars for me, but the ending annoyed me. I hate the whole thing where it's so obvious to the reader that the guy likes the girl, but she can't see it for some reason.

I wanted an actual sex (consummation) scene between Katie & Brandon, but when Katie said she had only known him for 3 days, it made sense there wasn't one yet. I guess that's why we have books 2 and 3 lol.

Katie had a really interesting job (& mind). She's one of those people who could calculate 871 times 14 in their heads. When she discovers her boyfriend is not straight, her gay friends (it got a little ridiculous at that point) sign her up for a hedonistic retreat at a resort where she'll get the sex experience she sorely lacks. I liked the descriptions of the resort; it felt like a real place. Instead, she meets the owner of the resort, Brandon, who wants to mentor her in the ways of the erotic without getting hands-on. He's trying to save the hotel from going under, and Katie's presence is a distraction to him.

I'm surprised this book doesn't have more ratings on GR, but it also just came out so there's that. If I still had Kindle Unlimited, I'd immediately dive into book 2, but right now I'm trying to save money and read the books I already own.

In the first chapter we learn that Katie is a tough chick, a hard ass, very attractive and a math genius. We learn all this because Katie tells us herself. In the second chapter, she goes off on her live-in boyfriend because she catches him watching a MMFF foursome porn video, shrieking and cursing at him and accusing him of being gay. For the next third of the book, we listen to Katie discussing her uninspired sex life with her two best friends (who of course are a gay couple, lest we have gotten the notion that her reaction to her boyfriend's porn indicates she might be a homophobe). At this point we meet man-whore Brandon, who has screwed every woman in his acquaintance and throws around cheesy double entendres like a high school kid. Katie and Brandon officially meet about halfway through and the rest of the book is him giving her lessons on pleasure (through lots of talk, seeing a live sex show, watching porn, watching an exotic dancer and instruction on how to pleasure herself). Ironically, the porn has FF interaction and she has a little FF action of her own during one of her sensuality lessons. The book ends on a cliffhanger and Katie and Brandon still have not even kissed and have barely touched. Oh, and this book wins the prize for the greatest number of times the word "dick" is used on a single page.

**This book was won in a Goodreads giveaway.**

I wanted to like it, I really did. I think that the general idea for this story was a good one. Unfortunately, it really needed more work to flush it out.

To start with, the story desperately could’ve used a proofreader. There were spelling and grammatical errors peppered throughout, and it distracted me from the story.

The female lead really wasn’t bad. I liked her as a character, despite her general shyness, weakness, and responsiveness to being basically bullied and taken advantage of.

The male lead, however? ICK. He was generally creepy, territorial, jealous, and downright rapey. We’re talking about a man who is financially loaded, and I decides after hours the meaning of woman that he’s going to undertake her sexual awakening, forcing her out of her comfort zone but only after having her drink multiple bottles of wine. On top of that, he’s so interested in chauffeuring her into sexual prowess, without actually having sex with her, that he makes the decision that “if he can’t have her, no one will.“

The ending was also very disappointing, and I think if you’re going to end of story on a cliffhanger it needs to be either a smaller cliff, or a much better book.

I think if it was proofread, and written better - especially the MMC - this might have earned three stars.

Floating

I received a copy of this book for my honest review. It is as follows:
This book seems to float about, moving slowly. We are introduced to Katie and the situation that motivates her to seek an escape. Too much time is spent on her and her friends. It is her friends who push her to go to a hedonistic resort. Brandon is not introduced until 30% into the book. Neither of them get to the resort until spproximately 50% into the book.
Unfortunately, we are thrown into his memories of his 16th birthday. Too much detail was expended on that.
Katie is a contradiction. One minute she is putting lecherous guys in their place and the next she is crying because of her insecurities. She cries a lot.
Brandon was constantly pushed to excel by a father who had little time for him. He has never had a meaningful monogamous relationship.
This book could have, should have been shortened and the story could have been one book. The typos were ridiculous. It needs to go back to editing. It is really a 2.5 star book. I don't know that I will read the other books in this series.

AHHHH!!!!! HOLY BALLS. this was the first ever book I won on goodreads but I always kept putting it off until a couple days ago and my gosh! The way I actually thought Brandon was a player and a piece of shit at the very beginning and boy was I wrong about that. He was literally nothing but a sweetheart to Katie and omg all the things you can "learn" along the way. such as self-love in the form of pleasure to yourself. Absolutely adored!!

Wonderful!

This story kept me riveted. Would Brandon and Katie get together? Katie wants Brandon in the worst way, and he wants her too but neither one ha the courage to step out and say so. Will it ever happen the way it’s meant to?

I was so excited to read this book, then it ended up being a huge flop for me. The idea for the storyline is a really solid one, but the execution was not great. The setup for Katie to make it to the island took way too long and didn't add much to the story. Once she got to the island, the story got a little more tolerable bit by bit. I was so excited to dive into Brandon's failing company to see how Katie would get wrapped up in it and make him fall even harder for her with her investigative math genius, but it never happened. The sexual bits were decent, but not overly memorable. The ending absolutely trashed this book for me though. I get wanting to hook the reader so they'll want to read the next book, but this was ridiculous. There was little to no development for the characters throughout the book, then to have it end and have the storyline pretty much go nowhere as well? It left a bitter taste in my mouth.
