Tristan

In one day, Tristan, an aspiring author, lost his job, his man and his home. With no other options, his best friend offers him a getaway at her family’s cabin for him to write and heal. What he gets instead is so much more. Starting with his best friend's brother pulling a gun on him. To say he doesn’t like the guy is an understatement.

Lucas

An FBI agent placed on administrative leave after a very tough case. What better way to unwind than visit his secluded family cabin in the mountains of Georgia? While he expects to be alone, he finds a strange man in his home. One that doesn’t like him and the feeling is mutual.

With forced proximity, sparks may fly. But a darkness in Lucas’s past may end things before they start.

You Saved Me is an 83k enemies-to-lovers, romantic thriller with a hot FBI agent, a seriously broken author and his strong willed best friend that has a problem following directions. No cliffhanger and guaranteed HEA.

Dnf. Who publishes these books??

The writing is simplistic, amateurish, rough and the execution is so ..inelegant,immature and stilted, like written by a teenager. The plot is trite, the characters awkward and the dialogues so OTT.
I don’t expect erotic romance to be literary masterpieces but I do like to see some tiny literary skill. I was excited for this because the blurb sounded interesting, you know? A cop and a writer, forced proximity and all that but they act like immature brats . I can’t go on reading this , sorry.

I'm beyond disappointed. I was so excited to read an MM romance with 2 Black men falling in love. But my god. I'm not even a writing snob lol I'm open to trying any writing style....but this was genuinely some of the worst writing I've read in a while. You don't need big words to show emotions or characterization or plot development but there's a difference between being straightforward and simply being bland. I was waiting for some sort of flavor or skill or anything...and got none of it. The dialogue did nothing for me and the characters could've been really interesting and fleshed out, but instead they came across as immature and flat. The forced proximity could've added some great tension but it already fizzled out 30% in. Usually, I'm at least somewhat curious about what happens with the end of a book, but I had literally no interest. This concept and story deserved better.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/🌶🌶🌶

Tropes: strangers to lovers, bestfriends brother, sisters bestfriend, hook up pact, forced proximity

TW/CW: 18+, murder, serial killer, homophobia, cheating

Representation: bisexual rep, gay rep, black romance

Thoughts: this was a BEAUTIFUL story! Apparently this is this authors first book and they did a damn good job! IM OBSESSED!! A BLACK AUTHOR!? A BLACK FBI AGENT!? OMFG when I tell you this story has so much going on but it was done so well! I love that tristan kept Lucas on his toes and wasn’t letting that man get away with being disrespectful. I also loved how much these two grew with and without one another. Like yeah they helped each other but they also grew so much being in that cabin! I also love that Lucas went on this discovery about his sexuality and Tristan didn’t pressure him. Also all the fbi stuff with the case was amazing I was so intrigued! I think this book should be categorized as romantic suspense and I need more of it!!

Hooked on the plot from the moment I opened this to the moment I put it down. On the edge of my sit not knowing what to anticipate bc the characters were so beautifully developed that a lot was going on and it should have been overwhelming; hell maybe it was overwhelming but it was part of the lore and somehow didn’t read as predictable.

The love between the MC’s was un rushed and pure giving of vibes of “it doesn’t matter how long, when you know, you know” and usually I struggle with the concept of that while reading romance books mostly bc when you read a book faster than the timeline used for the pacing, it easy for the simple art of a slow burn to fly over your head but that didn’t happen while I read this.

The story mimicked sensual love that came from the heart of pure humans. People that are already inherently good in a way that manifests in how they love the people around them.

"𝙄 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙣𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩. 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙪𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙣.'

It was poetic and I had fun time.

NO BUT THIS WAS SO FVCKING GOOOOOOOD.

When I tell you I fell in love with Tristan the SECOND he graced the page. This man truly had a sunshine aura & made you want to give him a hug & smother him with every bit of your love.

I loved the emotional depth of he & Lucas’ relationship even if it started off deliciously rocky. The title of this book could not be more perfect because the emotional healing for both men was ✨therapeutic as fvck✨

I loved the subplot with Lucas’ job as an FBI agent because it kept the overall story rolling.

I saw this book was advertised as a romantic thriller & for the first half I was like okay where👀 BUT WHEN THE ACTION HIT MAN. I was SWEATIN’.

That plot twist was truly devious & I didn’t see it coming until it damn near bit me in the ass.

Loved it overall. The smut was ❤️‍🔥 full of passion & the only complaint I had was that the ending waned a bit & the writing got choppy a time or two. Will absolutely be reading more from Roslyn👏🏼

Have you ever gone into a book with high expectations and came out a little unsatisfied? That was me for this book. You Saved Me had great potential and good bones with an interesting premise that definitely intrigued me. I love a good romantic suspense and making it M/M was even better. Where the story lost me a little was some of the dialogue as well as the way it ended on this big twist that I felt wasn't exactly necessary. But that is just my opinion.

Tristan wakes up one morning and just feels off. But he goes about his day and it's honestly the worst ever. He is accused of something at his job that he loves and is fired. Only to come home to see his boyfriend in the act of cheating on him. Luckily, he has the best friend ever in Cass and she arranges for him to take some time off and use their family cabin to renew himself and come back better. Within a couple of days there, Lucas, Cass's brother shows up because he has been asked to take a month off after a crazy serial killer case he just wrapped up. These two did not expect the other and the first whole week has them ignoring one another before things change quite drastically.

I love a story of forced proximity, but the first week with only the pair of them, these two acted pretty immaturely for two grown adults. But first impressions can make or break you, right? When Lucas starts opening up to Tristan and Tristan throws an olive branch Lucas's way, we get to see a relationship form between two unlikely characters. After the first 1/3 - 1/2 of the book, I really liked the characters and the way they allowed one another into each other's lives. They opened up and Lucas even recognized things in himself that he wanted to explore with Tristan. And they have the safe place of the family cabin to do this at. I liked the camaraderie and the way things progressed with the two of them. But Lucas and his knowledge of some things? Seemed quite unlikely, but it was dang hot.

When Lucas's case gets brought back up again and plans get changed, everything kind of blew up. This is the part, while exciting and messed up, I felt it was not needed in order to have a compelling story.

Overall, I liked the book and the journey Lucas and Tristan took to find each other and their HEAs. There were a few aspects that were quite OTT and things that made me go hmmmmm. But a Black, M/M romantic suspense story? THAT had me. Just could've been better executed.
I may check out more from this author in the future.

There is way to much put into describing every minute detail. But even more than that, it’s how this author has Tristan fawning over Cass, and how she is apparently the physical embodiment of female perfection… and just how she is portrayed in general.

[…] she was the perfect woman, taught feminine etiquette from her down-home Southern mother.

She loved Devin for me. She often spoke about how cute we were and made sure she had an invitation to our wedding.

Devin and Tristan aren’t even engaged. And yet it’s amusing or cute that she is ensuring she has an invite?

> “What the fuck did he do?” I was momentarily shocked from my numb haze because Cass rarely cursed, and dropping the F-bomb was a no-no for her. She was raised to be a proper lady at all times, and she took that to heart, even as an adult.

Cass, just pure perfection. Able to walk in heels and offers to help her BFF walk a box 15 minutes away. What a hero. What a proper fucking lady.

Tristan has the worst day of his life and needs a break. He goes to his best friend's family cabin to heal and rejuvenate himself. But he runs into Lucas, his best friend's brother, who is also looking for a place to escape. Sparks fly but Luke's immediate attraction to Tristan, combined with his confusion about his sexuality makes him lash out and Tristan responds in kind. But then, they get past it.

Let me start by saying getting fired and cheated on in the same day would bring me to my knees. I felt so bad for Tristan. But I love how the author took her time humanizing Lucas as well. Nightmares and PTSD, keeping secrets and feeling responsible for other's safety is a heavy load to carry. Their antagonism didn't go too far and I liked that also. And once Lucas could articulate his feelings and they were all in, neither of them held back and that was my favorite part. Tristan being a natural nurturer and finding someone to nurture fit well with Lucas being a natural protector and finding someone to protect. Tristan saving him ultimately was a nice play on their roles. Cassie was a delight and I love a girl who sticks up for her friends. Tristan getting a found family was wonderful as well. And the sex??? Wow. Tristan and Lucas were scorching hot and I loved everything about it. They were open and adventurous and Lucas was willing to learn, and be taught. It was lovely.

Saved the best

This was an incredible read. The pacing was perfect. From the relationship development, to the progress of this story, to the subplots, this was very well done. I love romance with open and honest communication where the characters actually work through their feelings and self doubt, but not on some perecived issue they mad up in their head. Lucas maybe my heart flutter everytime he confessed his feelings and thoughts. And Tris is the type of person anyone could fall in love with. And the family dynamic was so heartwarming. This was also well written, for a book that didn’t have a whole lot of dialogue it was still a easy and quick read, because of how captivating the story is. I’m looking forward to reading more from the author.

DNF p.169. This is just below ok. There's a lot of backstory that doesn't really make sense, like his colleague getting him fired based on nothing but air... where are the HR when you need them? The way Cassie's family welcomed him talking bout "you can call us mommy and daddy"... why? this is a grown man.. and his ex reaching back. again, why??? like why you do you feel the need to send an email after you've been blocked to say "I cheated on you so many times i can't count and I don't even know why" 😂😂 Anyway, onto the next one.

I was on an endless hunt for books with a perfect blend of slow burn and deep love, and just when I was ready to give up, I stumbled upon this one with a trigger warning that instantly piqued my curiosity. Diving in was the best decision I’ve made because wow! the emotions this book evoked 😩💖. The raw intimacy, the tender yet powerful gestures, and the vulnerability shared between these MMCs were breathtaking. Add a gripping mix of thriller and mystery, and it became perfection. I’m absolutely obsessed! 😍

Loved this book!

I cannot believe this is the debut novel for this author. The characters, the plot, the setting, the flow, everything was so well done. You really felt both Lucas and Tristan's individual pain and the happiness as they fell in love in a cabin in the woods. I highly recommend this book!

Love unexpected......

This was a love story unlike any I've ever read. Tristan and Lucas were definitely made for one another. The way they unexpectedly met, and fell in sync and eventually in love was so refreshing to read. Egos were lost, and walls were taken down. The unflinching support from Cassie and their parents was lovely. Support and love make a world of difference in a persons life.

“You Saved Me” is the first book I’ve read by Rosyln Faulk. It is a gripping read that has an awesome cast of characters, appropriate pacing, great dialogue, and strong character development. This romance novel has some gritty elements to it as well.

This book focuses on Tristan and Lucas. Tristan is an editor at a publishing company, who aspires to be an author himself some day. Over the course of one day, Tristan loses his job and discovers that his boyfriend of two years is cheating on him. Tristan’s best friend, Cass, offers her family’s cabin as a means for Tristan to reset and heal.

Lucas is an FBI agent that is dealing with the hardest case of his career. The emotional and mental anguish that he suffers as a result of an horrific serial killer almost costs him his career when he assaults said serial killer. Lucas is put on administrative leave and told to take a vacation. It’s the first vacation he’s been on in 5 years. His therapist gives him the task of answering the hard questions about himself honestly while on vacation. One of those questions is figuring out his sexuality.

Lucas and Tristan come together at the cabin under less than desirable circumstances. They eventually clear everything up and the heat and chemistry between them is divine! The steam in this book is h-o-t! Their attraction and connection to one another is off the charts! I really loved how open and honest they were with one another from the start. I also loved how they both accepted that they felt more for the other, despite their early agreement to keep things strictly physical.

This book is really engaging and interesting. The epilogue is lovely. I’m very much looking forward to other titles by this author!

Tristan (writer) meets Lucas (FBI Agent) when he's trying to mend a broken heart while staying at Lucas' parents cabin down South at the insistence of Cassandra, who is Tristan's best friend and Lucas' kid sister. Did you get all that? 😄 Lucas has been ordered to take time off after he assaulted and arrested a serial killer. The killer filmed his kills and sent it to the FBI and Lucas feels guilty for not catching him quicker.

They don't get off on the right foot since neither knew the other would be staying in the cabin. A gun in Tristan's face doesn't help the situation—at all. While on vacation, Lucas' agenda is to rid himself of his demons and to think long and hard about his sexual attraction to some men, which he hasn't acted on as he's only ever dated and slept with women. He knows that Tristan is gay but he makes an off the cuff remark that makes him seem homophobic. He's not!

They stay out of each other's way until an act of kindness from Tristan makes Lucas feel unrightfully upset. When Tristan stands toe to toe with him, Lucas surprises the hell out of him by stealing a kiss and walking away. Tristan is surprised and Lucas is horrified. It's the start of them navigating a friendship that eventually turns into more. They each provide an ear to the other and Lucas reveals he's confused. Tristan understands the ramifications of coming out though Lucas is not stressing over it.

Slowly they get to know each and explore Lucas' limitations of which he had none! Say what? I made a note to myself because, Lucas took to various techniques, like a duck to water and it wasn't believable for me. Ironically, Tristan asked him the same thing and I liked Lucas' answer.

Just as they're looking forward to spending the next week together, Lucas receives a shocking phone call that shakes him to his core. Secrets are revealed and lives are shattered! Recommended: Read It!

Lastly, the parents in this story were EVERYTHING! Okay, okay—one more thing, one of the heroes did something that made me clap and cheer, it's something people in peril fail to do in the movies! That. Is. All.

Sweet romance with a touch of darkness

After one horrible day that turns his life upside down, editor and aspiring writer Tristan’s best friend sends him to her family’s mountain cabin to take some time for himself and get some writing done. After a tough case leaves him with nightmares, FBI agent Lucas takes a leave of absence and heads to his family’s cabin to mentally heal. After a rough start, the two men start to get along and try to figure out what they want their futures to look like. But unfinished business from Lucas’s past threatens everything the two men are working towards.

You Saved Me was part feel-good, forced proximity, best-friend’s-brother romance mixed with some dark and creepy flashbacks from Lucas’s grisly case, and a bit of mystery thriller thrown in. The romance between the guys was so sweet. I loved how open and honest they were with each other–that aspect of the book was so refreshing. Lucas was a big, sexy, sweetheart with a sensitivity that caused him to struggle with the work he was doing in the FBI. Lucas is having a hard time putting his recent case behind him, but Tristan’s positive outlook and sweet personality work wonders. Even after having some terrible experiences, Tristan was still a generally happy and positive person. He had so much strength and resolve to work hard for the life he wanted for himself. I loved Tristan’s relationship with his best friend Cass and her parents, who gave him the unconditional love he craved. These two guys were just exactly what the other one needed. I enjoyed this debut book and look forward to seeing more from Roslyn Faulk!

Be sure to read the content warning in the beginning of the book if you have triggers as there is some dark subject matter.

When your world goes dark, free your mind! Tristan, works as an editor for a publishing house. His dream was to be a successful bestselling author. He had an amazing boyfriend, Devin and thought they were in a good place after being together for 2 years. The morning he woke up, he felt a sense of disturbance, in his gut. He was up for promotion at his job and had a really hot boyfriend, life was good! Cass was his co-worker and best friend, with whom he shared an office. He shared with David also, but he was not a nice man. Then Tristan got fired because David lied on him. He returned home and found Devin cheating on him. Lucas, Cass's brother is an FBI Agent, former Vet He's coming off of a hard case that messed with his mind while he's struggling to understand his sexuality. He made a mistake at his work that prompted his supervisor to mandate a 30 day vacation. Both men ended up at Cass's family getaway. What fun! Confusion, stress, broken feelings was driving their first meeting and continued through getting acquainted. Do Lucas and Tristan have time to settle down and clear the air? Does Lucas figure out why he can't sleep? Does Tristan's writer's block clear up? The supporting characters were riveting and brought a lot to the story. There are unnerving twists and turns in the story. I absolutely enjoyed the mystery and action as much as the romance. Well done! I received an ARC and am happily leaving a review.

Survival on the Line . . .

Tristan Michaels was an editor for a publishing house and had plans to become a bestselling author. But life can take a sudden turn and go bad without warning. Tristan’s co-worker lied about him and got him fired. And walking in on his boyfriend, he found him cheating on him, so he had nothing left. Fortunately his best friend, Cass suggested he go to her family cabin up in the mountains to get over all this and maybe get some writing in.

Cass’ brother, Lucas Blackwell, is an FBI agent whose difficult case has put him in a bad place mentally. He was finally ordered to take mandatory leave to work things out and recover. He also has some personal issues he is struggling with. So Lucas also heads to the family cabin to relax and be alone. Needless to say, their initial meeting is not a friendly one. Tristan finally makes the first move when Lucas' nightmares needed to be addressed. Lucas pushed him away and Tristan assumed he was objecting because Tristan was gay. So Lucas showed him that was not at all what he meant. Proximity and getting to know each other finally led to a chance to explore their feelings. But an unexpected attack is on the way when a psychopath from Lucas’ past puts them both in terrible danger. Can they survive what the killer has planned for them?

This book starts quite slow and I must admit I struggled with the first couple of chapters.

Tristan's life turns upside down with him loosing his job, walking in on his boyfriend cheating and moving out with nowhere to go.
He takes refuge in a friend's cabin, trying to find a new purpose in life.

Lucas is burnt out after a difficult case and put on mandatory vacation. Hiding in his family cabin sounds like the ideal spot to sort out his nightmares and asking himself some difficult question.

I like how Tristan and Lucas both work through their respective problems while supporting each other after a difficult start when Tristan overhears a comment and misunderstands Lucas and Lucas can't make it right.

While I think there is too much detailed description which a good editor could have sorted out, both guys are portrait well and there is chemistry, especially as Lucas is finally finding himself.

Lucas' case is haunting him and there is a suspense plot coming up and this is where the story gets quite unbeliveable. It feels just ridiculous how Lucas' colleagues and supervisors are dealing with it and while the villian is a surprise, the ending itself is just a bit too much. I feel the book would have been good without this part, it doesn't really add a lot.

FROM STRANGERS TO ENEMIES TO LOVERS!

Oh my word! This is the second book I have devoured by this author and it will not be the last!

The character build is always amazing with the continuois flow of the storyline and the phenomenal world building!

Two broken, sweet souls seeking comfort in each other find so much more than they both thought they needed!

Travis is healing from a broken heart and losing his job and Lucas is healing from PTSD.

“ Lucas a broken man. A hero,”

He was funny. He was smart. He was honest. He was
beautiful. And he was broken. I wanted him to feel like he had an anchor. I wanted him to know he had me.”

I loved how they supported and comforted each other even when there was hatred and frustration, the connection and attraction was still there.

When imminent danger threatens Lucas’s loved ones he has to make the hardest decision of his life…

It was a heartfelt story with so much depth and realism to tug on the heart strings!

Tristan is having a tough time; he loses his job, his boyfriend and his home. HIs BFF offers to let him use her family’s cabin until he can get back on his feet. Luca is an FBI that desperately needs time to unwind after a really big case, so he heads to his family’s cabin, but ends up finding a stranger there instead. When the two clear the misunderstanding, they rub each other the wrong way and they tolerate the other for the time being. But as they get to know each other and get closer, they realize there is an attraction there and feelings start to develop.

I really enjoyed reading this book, I was heartbroken for Tristan with the way his life was unfolding and so sad for Lucas for having dealt with the stress of such an emotional case, but things happen to a reason. Tristan and Lucas are meant to meet and to fall for each other. The MC’s have great chemistry after they realize there is something there. It was a really good enemies-to-lovers romance and a great book.

Outstanding! This book was love on top of love and every intimate scene rising higher and higher to reach the crescendo everytime Tristan and Lucas were intimate. It was full on sexy, lots of lube, blushes and loud grunts. But this isn't just the story, there is a brilliant storyline running alongside as their relationship grows. A fantastic twist to the story; I was hooked. A lot of the story is just between the two MC's whilst they reside at the cabin. Alone together in their own bubble; I actually felt like I was looking through their bubble watching everything unfold. Some angst due to the PTSD Lucas suffers with and the investigation as a whole. The epilogue was one year on, this gave a wonderful HEA and cleared up all loose ends. It's a 5 star read because I'm not ready to say goodbye to Tristan and Lucas yet. A real page turner

Wow I could not put this down. As the blurb states, Tristan had the worst day imaginable and FBI agent Lucas needs to take some time off after a horrific case. They wind up at the same cabin and don't get off to the best start. They try their best to tiptoe around each other but Tristan extends an olive branch when Lucas's nightmares keep him awake. I enjoyed the snark that Tristan dishes out. He is not afraid to say what's on his mind. Lucas is growly yet vulnerable and sweet. These two were scorching when they decided to take all that sexual tension into the bedroom. Then the case that Lucas worked on comes back to haunt him in the most surprising way. That was one crazy plot twist. This was a real page turner that I couldn't put down. A great romantic thriller by a new to me author. I will definitely keep Rosyln Faulk on my radar from now on.

Just took me a while to read. I love the fact we had 2 black gay guys who were open with their feelings like that was new in a good way. I feel like there was not any character development or characters in general outside of the main guys. I felt like the plot twist at the end was good but also somewhat predictable in the way that when few characters r introduced it’s easier to guess. Again, I loved the talk of mental health. In general I think the book just moved slowly for me and there was a lot of time spent at the cabin obviously doing like the same things so

This was a love story of opportunity. It is true that Tristan and Lucas found themselves at the cabin expecting to be alone to work through each of their individual needs and concerns but the real gift was not solitude. It was the unexpected opportunity that the forced proximity gave them to meet their own someone and after the initial resistance to become open to including that person in their lives and welcome love.

An entertaining plot with interesting characters. The relationship between the MCs changed multiple times within a very short time but it still felt real. It's quite refreshing to have characters who can effectively communicate about themselves and their feelings. The mental health difficulties were well written. I look forward to what the author will write next, their books so far have all been quite different, which for me is very appealing.

I keep it short and sweet. In my opinion this story was just told in such a great writer voice. The story flowed from the first to the last word; from Tristan his horrible day to Lucas and Tristan their hea. I also liked how Roslyn created a loving and supporting frienda/ family around both men.

There is an intense side plot related to Lucas his work as an FBI agent that might trigger some.

Way too slow. Too much minutiae. Really wanted to love this but got frustrated and put it down several times. Tristan and Lucas are interesting MCs and separately, I like them. But together - ugh. Both rather bratty with ridiculous interactions. Too much indecision and too much detail on inconsequential things. I did sort of like this author's voice. This has the foundation of a good story but needs tightening up.
