I have always loved fairytales and reading about folktales from South Asia was so much fun! I will definitely be reading these stories to my kids.

rounding this up to ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. quite a decent retelling collection of folktales, myths & legends from all over SEA. even though this is targeted to young readers, its still a good introduction; suitable for a light read to learn more about the culture and history.

its been awhile since i have read something quite like this ((im not a history student, #teamgeography hehe 🙊)) so i really appreciate how it mentions where the story originates and a little bit about its history in each and every of the stories. i also thought it was helpful how the book was split into different sections - animal tales, ordinary people, royalty.

also!!! mad love with the gorgeous cover that attracted my attention to pick up this book in the first place 😍🥹

I love reading stories from my own cultural background. These folktales were a delightful read.

I would have preferred a fresh story instead of two stories so similar, albeit from different countries, but it was good to see the differences from country to country.

An interesting collection, in easy to understand language. I didn't like the first story about the jackal tricking the crocodile. But the rest were good. There are some great stories of young people exploring the world and lots of morals about the importance of kindness.
