loved the pictures and cartoons 🥰✨ more of a slow-burn in terms of plot (repro doesn’t start until page 631) but LOTS of fun, fantastical names for things. this book is a bit of a chonker though so would recommend the e-book over hard copy!!
Pretty dense read, wouldn’t recommend to most people. If you want to spend night after night crying over it, go right ahead but this book will probably give you nightmares.
Definitely a slow burn! Not much plot tbh and some of the endings were pretty predictable but there were also some things I’ve never seen in my life ❤️ Gets 4 stars because I must respect the book so it will respect me on the exam
did I actually finish this all the way through? absolutely not, but I read enough and felt it helped today. if you see my rating change to a 1/5 on 7/15 just look the other way.
Hurts to review this one - but one day out from STEP1, I've spent enough time with this book that it might as well count towards my Goodreads goal. This is a "bible" for medical students for a reason - I opted for the physical book, but the USMLErx question bank and digital searchable copy is also gold.
Less than 24 hours before my STEP1 exam - currently rating this 5 stars, but I retain the right to lower that is my score doesn't shake out the way we want it to.
A Love-Hate Relationship that Left Me Needing First Aid
This book has seen me at my best, my worst, and my absolute rock bottom—five minutes before my immunology exam, whispering desperate prayers to the gods of pass/fail. The genomics? Solid. The organization? Surprisingly decent. The biochemistry? Allegedly something I majored in, but this book has me questioning everything.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. 5/5 would fall asleep cramming into again. 😭📚
In my experience and opinion, this should be the first choice of every medical student. everything, including diseases, drugs, symptoms, and syndromes has a 2-3 line explanation that is short and comprehensive simultaneously.
