Ragond's Portal War #3

Drachenbündnis: Ein YA-Drachen-Fantasy-Abenteuer mit einzigartigem magischem Element (Ragond - Krieg um die Portale 3)

Rate this book
The past and present collide in an epic fight for Ragond’s future.

The rebellion is in full swing. Nova and Zeph have gathered renegade dragon riders, witches, and Mythoi to take on Ragond’s corrupt Council and bring down the notorious Link Mage once and for all. But years of war have bred distrust between Ragondians and Mythoi alike. They are as likely to fight amongst themselves as they are to take on the Council.

Nova’s own push to fight alongside the Mythoi casts suspicion on her. But she knows the truth: If the Mythoi and Ragond don’t stop the infighting and preserve their worlds, there’ll be no chance to bring down the Link Mage. Not to mention that Nova’s chance at finding her mother will be lost.

Especially when the portals are growing increasingly unstable.

As rebel forces fight to reclaim Stonehaven and clash with Ragond’s corrupt Council members, Nova realizes time is no longer on their side. They must find the Link Mage and stop him before everything—and everyone—she loves is destroyed.

No matter what it costs her.

Queen of the Dragons' Ava Richardson invites you to immerse yourself in a dragon-filled world with epic magic, fearless heroes, and, at its heart, the deep bond between dragon and rider.

Ava Richardson writes epic page-turning Young Adult Fantasy books. She creates lovable characters and drops them into intricate worlds that are barely contained within your eReader. Ava has written 21 YA dragon fantasy series, including her bestselling series Return of the Darkening and her recent series, Destia's Dragon Shifter War.

She grew up on a steady diet of fantasy and science fiction books handed down from her two big brothers – and despite being dog-eared and missing pages, she loved escaping into the magical worlds that those authors created. Her favorites were the ones about dragons; where they’d swoop, dive and soar through the skies of these enchanted lands.

This is book three of the Ragond’s Portal War series and the fight for the future of Ragond and Mythos is reaching an epic conclusion. Nova and Zephyr have gathered as many rebels as they can to their sides, including dragon riders, witches and hopefully Mythoi, to take on the corrupted Stonehaven based Council and the Link Mage. Many believed the Link Mage was just a myth or possibly a god, but he is real and linked to Nova and her mother Seren. The main problem is that even those rebels who have joined her and believe that the Council need to be taken down, are completely against trusting or even working with the Mythoi, still believing the tales the Council members have spread over the last three hundred years. Nova still hasn’t got any firm treaty with the King of Mythos, for any assistance in this rebellion, and the Council have been recalling all the dragon riders and soldiers from across Ragond, to protect Stonehaven. Nova has her life experiences on Earth as well as having visited Mythos and seen the destruction for herself, plus not having been brought up on Ragond, to have any set animosity against the people of Mythos. Also her observations and talks with the king himself, have removed any ideas of them being simple monsters, far from her mind!

Her knowledge of the Mythoi however, is vastly different than all on Ragond, whether they believe in her and the rebellion or not. There is a lot of inequality between the normal citizens of Ragond and those in the Council and at Stonehaven and their behaviours which have left many people to not like the Council. It doesn’t mean they will do anything against them though. Once news of Nova’s close history with the Link Mage is let out of the bag, even her most loyal supporters are thrown into turmoil and begin to doubt her and her plans. The chances for Nova to rescue her mother from one particular sort of portal, are getting further and further away, as she finds the Link Mage is opening increasing numbers of portals all over the place, causing damage to all. He needs to be taken down and quickly, before the whole of Mythos is destroyed from him draining it of magic, in his desire for vengeance and more power! If Nova can’t rescue her mother before they have to take down the Link Mage himself, there will be no way of finding her, as he is the only one that can open portals.

Zephyr has a huge role to play in the rebellion, with her knowledge gained from the forbidden and supposedly destroyed books from the library in Stonehaven, giving her long forgotten and powerful spells to learn and teach to all the other witches, so at long last they can defend themselves in battle and even take part in providing offensive spells as well. Korgad is becoming more isolated and grumpy than ever and has been keeping secrets from Nova, believing her not ready to be able to deal with them yet! A very frustrating problem than Nova could well do without, having been pushed to be the leader of this rebellion, especially after Miacah and her dragon were badly injured, getting in the way of a cannon shot aimed at Nova and Hake! Nova has managed to use her time jumps to find out more about her parents pasts and also that of the Link Mage himself One vision she has received was of the future and she has only shared it with a select few, but she may have to pay this ultimate price, if she is to defeat the Link Mage and save all of Ragond and Mythos. No matter what the cost is to herself, Nova is determined to save the lives of those she loves and all those she has promised to assist. Another fantastic dragon filled adventure, with magic, witches, portals and so much more to add to the enjoyment! Hard choices and decisions have to be made and not everyone will make it out of final battle unscathed. A fitting end to the series and just loved all the close relationships between dragons, friends and rebels that are brought to the story, that just get stronger as the series goes on. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own Opinion of the book above.

The conclusion to Ragond's Portal War finds Nova leading the rebellion against the Council. With Osa and Dafyd to advise her, and of course Korgad, the twins, Zephyr, and her team of riders, Nova has rally the troops and convince them that the Mythoi are not the real enemy. She also has to convince the Mythoi to trust and ally with the people of Ragond, people who can't be convinced not to fight the Mythoi on sight. And if that's isn't difficult enough, there's the Link Mage himself. Some still revere him as a god, but if he isn't being manipulated by the Council, then he's finally gone mad. Can she reason with him or will Nova and her army have to fight a god? And if she doesn't have enough to do, she still has to find and rescue her mom - after all, that is the reason she came to Ragond in the first place. But if determination can do anything, Nova will succeed. How could she not with the friends she has surrounding her?

I thought this entire trilogy was fantastic. These were the first books I'd ever read by Ava Richardson and was recommending them to others before I had finished the first one. They are well written, entertaining, original, and delightfully fun. I'm ready to read them all over again and highly recommend them to anyone who ever wished they could live in a world with dragons.

I received an ARC from Booksprout and have reviewed it willingly.

This book is the final book in the Ragond Trilogy and I have love following the series. I found it to be an excellent and satisfying conclusion.

What an epic confrontation of past and present so well written and frought with tension as multiple plot lines come too fruition.

I especially love the tension between the melting pot of renegade dragon riders, witches, and Mythoi trying to find a balance between trust and old wounds as the focus shifts as the need arises that they be a cohesive force capable of defeating Ragond’s corrupt Council and Link Mage. The balance is a tightly wound line capable of easily unraveling. Infighting among themselves is their own worst enemy for if they aren't successful they will surely defeat themselves instead of the enemies.

Bravo so well done it was breathtaking and well worth the read!!

Thrilling to the very end!
The third book in the trilogy didn't disappoint. Nova and Zephyr, along with their rebel army have set-up camp in the relative safety of the wild dragon territories. From here Nova sets out to win friends and allies in an attempt to defeat the Stonehaven Council. Her magic is growing, and her abilities as a link jumper, and time jumper are increasing. They story moves apace with plenty of action both in the skies and one the ground. The final battle and outcome is not to be missed. Exciting the very end. Brilliant series, and characters to love and hate. I admit, I had a tear in my eye at one point. Well worth reading.

You know how sometimes a book series has you so wrapped up in it, but then the ending is disappointing? Well, this isn't one of those times! It was so captivating that I finished it within two days, and I honestly wish there were more books to look forward to in this series.

Nova and the rebels train to prepare for their inevitable faceoff with the forces of Stonehaven, the Council and the Link Mage. Dragon riders start to learn magic while witches learn to ride dragons.

However, tensions rise when the rebels start to doubt fighting against the Link Mage while fighting with the Mythoi whom they had always believed to be monsters.

Can they come together, disband the council, defeat the Link Mage, save Nova's mom, and bring peace to both worlds?

Really enjoyed this final book in the "Ragond's Portal War" series. Seems a little bit slow in the beginning but after finishing the book, found it all was relative to the story. Will Nova and Zephyr be able to lead the rebels to victory over the the leaders of Ragond? Will she be able to save Mythos? Can she defeat her grandfather, the Link Mage? These are the question you will discover in reading the final book of this trilogy.

The Last Push for Victory !!

This book is the final book in the Ragond Trilogy. This is the ultimate battle as past and present collide in the fight for Ragond’s future. Nova and Zeph have gathered renegade dragon riders, witches, and Mythoi to take on Ragond’s corrupt Council and bring down the notorious Link Mage. But there is still distrust between Ragondians and Mythoi so they could just as well fight among themselves as to take on the Council.

Ava proves herself queen of the dragons. Can she save them all? Will this day bring a victory or the final defeat?

Dragons alliance by Ava Richardson Is everything I have come to love about her books and more. The perfect continuation of the previous books in the series focusing on the coming of age of the main character. Not only does the main character continue to face challenges from the past but shoulders the new burdens of leader ship admirably. Once I started reading it I couldn’t stop until I finished it and then start it again. I so look forward to more stories similar to this from Ava Richardson.

Believable

I don't care how well you tell a story. If it isn't believable to the listener. The reader. It's won't be good. You have to have your facts straight. Your rules straight. Your relationship or characters straight. If they don't act, like like you portrayed them. Then being, inconsistency. A unbelievablilty. The more inconsistency the more unbelievablilty. I don't care how well you write if you can't keep. "Your story straight" you don't have a story. A book. You aint done yet. Draft

Ava Richardson does not disappoint. Nova really comes into her own as the captain and leader of the rebellion against the Council's corruption. The people of Ragond suffer as the Council continue to commit atrocities all in the name of the LinkMage. The character of Nova is well developed as is her bond with her dragon Hake. This is a stunning conclusion to this fantastic dragon rider series.

The final story in Ragond’s Portal War trilogy is very satisfying.
There are more twists and turns that Nova, Zephyr, and their fellow rebels must endure. We learn some rather interesting truths. And as with any war, some friends are lost and some foes are vanquished; yet it still seems to resonate as both a warning and hope for the future of Ragond.

I am hoping to hear more from this world as I've grown attached to the characters! If you're looking for strong female leaders in a fantasy world you can always count of Ms Richardson to deliver. A different sort of twist

I really enjoyed this book, but can't help but feel like there should be more to this story. Mom's in one realm, and daughter in another. Plus there could be more with the daughters relationship with Dafyd. I read a lot a lot and I think that's why I see the more in many stories. Regardless this was a sit still and read (because you can't stop) type of books. So go for it, it really is interesting!

So far so good! I was pleasantly surprised by a couple of things, especially some of the revelations of the side characters. I think Richardson did an excellent job at tying all the different stings together and wrapping them up with a lot of catharsis and satisfaction. Even though it was book three and it wrapped up the trilogy I can see how there is room for and I'm picking up the next trilogy now!

Portal War three books

I enjoyed previous Ava books, this three book series is splendid, with a good twisting storyline.
Suit all age readers, who enjoy Dragon stories.
The story is nicely described, allowing minds to literally understand the scenes being described.
There are no body bits, to give fright to younger readers.
Enjoy!!!

Great ending to the dragon trilogy

A wonderful and imaginative world and storyline. I throughly enjoyed this series, especially since I thought at first it might be a YA book filled with kids. Even though the characters were young and the storyline included challenges youth faces (bullying, jealousy, lying) the cast rises above all of that to save 2 worlds. Fantastic

A solid conclusion to the trilogy but I felt that the middle books was the best as it was more explosive. I have enjoyed the full set, Ava Richardson does it again!
