Ils m’ont retrouvée presque morte. Pour me sauver, ils ont dû me transformer…

2.5 stars
Meh… It was okay. Nothing more… (once again an unpopular opinion according to all the 4 stars and 5 stars reviews). It is just overall bland and unoriginal.
I have so much trouble finding good RH series lately. Often, I find the plot is weak and it’s as if the author abandoned it halfway and decided to focus all her energy on the sexual tension between the characters instead. I don’t mind sexual tension and sexy scenes at all, but I also want a story that I can get invested in. I must say though that the last 20% were quite good, hence the extra 0.5 stars, but sadly it didn't make up for the rest of the book.
Willow is an average 27 years old divorcée working in a club at night and at a bakery during the day to save enough money to one day be able to open her own bakery. Until one night, she is attacked on her way back home. Three gorgeous vampires find her and save her. That is the cue for the insta-lust and instant trust after that Willow adapts quite easily to her new life and trains with the vampires so she can protect herself, then they all almost have sex, they look for the evil shades and fight them, and for the grand finale: shock revelations about Willow’s and Malcolm’s true identities. The end.
Let’s highlight something positive: at least Willow does question herself about her weird feelings and new abilities, and she wants to understand what is happening, she does not just follow the vampires blindly. She is a good character with grit and spunk.
On the contrary, the men in this book are generic and bland. I feel that the men in the RH I have been reading lately are always the same: the mysterious cold guy (Malcolm), the sensible and quiet guy (Sol), and the funny womanizer guy (Jerrett). Malcolm is an Edward Cullen 2.0 minus the uptight-stuck-up vibe (but he is a jerk). He thinks vampirism is a curse and vowed never to hurt a human to satisfy his hunger. The three of them are kind of assholes though. They changed her into a vampire and sent her on her way as soon as she was awake and fed. No help whatsoever besides telling her not to go out during the day and not to tell anyone that she is now a vampire. I would have liked the guys to have more depth and more backstory.
So yeah… This book had me rolling my eyes more than once and I will not continue with this series.
When it comes to romance I can pretty much read anything and from the synopsis I thought I'd love this, but it fell flat for me! Sorry, I did like the three heroes and their characters and the plot was developing but not as quickly as I would have liked, the next book is out but personally I don't think the story is worth the cost of the next two books, it didn't grip me enough to want to read more, but overall it was okay.
I thought this book was just going to be about vampires and shades, but about 60% through it mentions werewolves and then a few other things get mentioned but don't play much of a role. So it's an urban fantasy where it's a world with hidden beings everywhere that aren't common knowledge. There's a bit of a political system mentioned, I'm assuming it's developed more in later books. There was nothing really in here that made it stand out in any way. I usually love scenes where the girl gets trained in how to be a badass warrior, but this was a little lacking and over really quickly. I wanted to feel the burn. Good chemistry building between the characters, though I didn't like the disability erasure that's suggested at in here.
The Piece of Dragon series made me want to read a vampire book. I already read other series by this author, so I decided to try this one. I liked it!
I like that the main character is tough, but not invincible. She doesn't wait for the men she meets to save her, but she doesn't get irritated when they need to step in. They don't try to make her stay home when they look for trouble, so they protect without being overprotective. The book has a nice balance that way which helps keep the characters from being too one-dimensional.
I didn’t like this quite as much as some of her other books, but it was still an enjoyable read.
Pros: - Vampire lore: I love it when authors mix things up an make it their own. - dialogue: they think and talk naturally, something too many authors miss in their narrative. - over all plot: it’s interesting and looks like it might get better. - 27yo divorced FMC, you just don’t see that in RH! Love it
Cons: - Malcom annoyed me, even as I understood him - Quick to trust the bond; though technically a slow burn, this RH has all the hallmarks if a group that succumbs to the magic quickly.
Was SAVED BY BLOOD an amazing read? No, but I read it in one day because it was fast paced and entertaining. I liked Willow's grit and fire, she never gave up and rolled with each new revelation that gets thrown her way. The guys, Malcom, Sol, and Jerrett were all likeable but a touch similar in their POV chapters. However, I am interested in seeing how their relationship with Willow develops. The heat is lower in this first book but I actually liked that even though they're all inexplicably attracted to Willow they don't all immediately jump into bed. I'll definitely be jumping right into book 2.
Holy sweet yes! I loved this book! ❤ everything was so perfect. Willow has fire from the beginning. She gets more amazing throughout. The guys all come oinat different degrees of into her. And the supernatural element was interesting and entertaining. I will complete this series. I recommend you also read it. 📚
I really enjoyed this book I love the twist she added. I now understand why Mal is grumpy I would be too. I love how they all have different nicknames for Willow its so sweet. The boys are fine as whine an as sweet as candy. Willow is kick ass I can't wait to see how she dose in book two.
If you love med burn reverse harem this is a great book for you. So much happened in this first book but at the end of it felt like it was just the tip of the iceberg. I can’t wait to see how the story and the relationships grow in the next book.
Great start of the series!!! 🤩 Totally in love with this series already. This first book introduces the four MC of this story: three male vampires, that had been together for so long, they call each other "brother"... And our badass girl, a human saved and turned by them... The vampires in this story have new abilities I have not read in another vampire books, it's quite interesting... And Willow, well lets just say she is full of surprises, can't wait to read the next book!!! 🤗🤓
I like that the main character has grit and questions things BUT a lot of this story line feels overdone. Wasn’t terrible. I did roll my eyes a bunch but It passed the time. Debating if I’ll continue the series... maybe when my options are low.
This is the first book of the third series by Sadie Moss that I have had the privilege of reading. There are some authors that write multiple books and multiple series and you start to see incredible repetition and they become so predictable in their formula. Sadie Moss does not have that problem – a fact for which I am incredibly and eternally grateful. Every book in every series, is unique and this new start is no exception. There are lots of books and so many TV Shows about vampires and their magic and Sadie Moss still manages to write a story that is unique. It’s also written from multiple points of view for those of us who like Willow is my consummate heroine: When we meet her though, she is in a bit of a rut. She’s left an emotionally and mentally abusive marriage and is trying to find a new start in New York. New starts aren’t always easy though and while she’s taken steps forward, she’s also like a duck – paddling like crazy under the water waiting to see some improvement in her circumstances. Then we have 3 brothers from different mothers (and centuries, in some cases) and each of them is special in their own way. The 3, in order of descending favourite are Sol, Jerrett and Mal. Sol is blind (I know, right!) but uses his other overdeveloped senses to be quite a force of nature and he seems to have the best balance of the three between the serious and playful sides of his personality; Jerrett is the oldest and still manages to have the personality of the baby of the family – playful, charming, flirtatious and a heart as big as the city they live in; and then, last but certainly not least, is Mal (Willow can call him Malcom) who is the more tortured, dark and serious type with a heart that is more sensitive and caring then he’d let just anyone know. It’s pretty much a man for a woman’s every need and mood.
Willow responds to learning about the supernatural world with a level of composure that is quite enviable. She responds to being turned to a vampire much better than I would and I’m guessing better than most people would – but I much prefer this to the whining and moaning and woe-is-me-ness that it could have been. She does her period of grieving for who she used to be and goes through the stages as is expected until she is resigned to and eventually accepts her new status – a step that is helped hugely by the men sharing more information (proving once again that education is important!). This introduction, while great in and of itself, also sets us up for some very fascinating and entertaining reading to come where many questions will be answered but also, where we see more bonding and intimacy between the 4. My one complaint, as it always will be with a good book, is that it should have been longer. But in this instance, now that we have gotten to know the core of the characters and understand more about the world that they operate in, I’m hoping that book 2 will have more of everything – relationship, mystery, answered questions, bonding, intimacy and sex. I’m going to need all of that!
My first finished RH listen! And I'm so happy to start on the right foot, this inicial installment is truly amazing.
The characters are the most remarkable thing in this book, at least for me. I have a hard time connecting with alpha-holes and the whole insta-protectiveness stuff what comes with it. Here you have alpha-males without the jerkiness. They are big, badass man who will do anything to protect our heroine, but it's not instant and she is not a damsel in distress. The 3 of them are so different yet so similar, the didn't mingle together, their personalities are distinct and complimentary to each other. You have the protector, the easy-going guy and the sweet one, but they are all strong
Willow is such a great heroine. First, she is NOT a doormat or TSTL. Second, she is not bitchy and snarky, just strong. Some heroines tend to came out so bitchy in order to be strong, this one doesn't. I could connect to her just fine. And she is also believable. (She did accept her new life a little fast, but I like this way, otherwise would look whiny).
The pace. Oh the pace is so good, slow but not too slow and action packed! It's a slow-burn romance (no insta-love, yes!) and this first book it's just the start, there is no s*x scenes, only some kissing and s*xy times. And you can feel her pull rising from one brother to the other, she even feel conflicted when she kissed one and the other wants to kiss her too. It's very sweet.
My only pet-peeve and the reason my rating was not 5 stars was the inner monologue. I skimmed some parts because it was a repetition from a previews chapter. It slow the pace a little bit and it threw me off sometimes.
Lia Holland is my new favorite female narrator! Coming fro MM books, it was so hard for me to like female narrators, specially in erotica. They usually came out a little to whiny and annoying, even though they were not. But Lia Holland has such a powerfull voice, her pacing is flawless and she differentiate all the characters during Willow POV. And I fell in love with C.J. Grey's voice. DEEP, sooo deep and thick. And he could made a different voice for the character so nicely, I was stunned.
Thank you Sadie Moss for providing this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
A Steamy RH With A Fab Story & Great Characters!!😎🌟💙💖💙💙🌜
One To Lose Yourself In 😉💘
Willow is fairly new to New York. She's working two jobs to survive, one is for passion - baking, the other is to pay rent - bar waitressing. She's 27 years old and made the big move after finally finding the courage to get a divorce from the most unsatisfying marriage imaginable!👎
After being attacked whilst walking home in the early hours, she's saved by 3 guys - Malcolm, Jarrett & Sol. After making sure she's healed, they pretty much send her packing to get on with her life - with a few drastic new changes!!🌗😳 They don't explain why but much is implied, it's almost as if they're trying to protect her somehow, maybe!?😳
I wasn't a massive fan of broody Mal initially, but he started to grow on me and I'm sure, as we learn more about him, his story is going to break my heart!!😭 I loved Jarret 😍 His edgy, sexy vibe and playfulness were the opposite to Mal's grumpy brooding. He snapped into hunter mode at the drop of a hat, when it was needed, which was hot!😋 Sol was a total sweetheart 💙 He seemed really Zen. I'd very much imagine he's the balance between his 'brother's'. His strength is quiet but soul deep. (I could imagine him as a Dom very easily!!😉)
I really enjoyed this story, it's definitely my kind of reverse harem.👍 It had a good balance of hot, slow burning steam 🔥 Potential romance/s and intrigue with action mixed in 💘🔪 There's a fabulous twist at the end which I didn't see coming - I love being thrown off like that 👍🎉 the world building is going well and has plenty of scope left. I don't want to give spoilers away but believe me, the Author has allowed herself so much space to expand, I'm really excited to see where she takes us!!🌍😎 The only reason I didn't give the full 5 Stars is I found the writing a little stilted for the first few chapters, this definitely smoothed out as the book moved along & it soon flowed really well!👍😊
I highly recommend this one, I can't wait for more books in this series. It's really captured my imagination and that's not always easy in the RH genre!!🌟✨
Willow moved to NY after a bad divorce she loved her day job in the bakery and tolerated her night job in the bar as she needed the extra income. Walking home after her shift at the bar she realises she is being followed but can’t comprehend exactly what the grotesque creature is and it keeps dissolving into the shadows then becoming corporeal again. It attacks her leaving her for dead then proceeds to draw runes on her body but before its finished she is rescued. When she wakes up in a strange house she finds 3 of the hottest guys she’s ever seen , they then tell her to sabe her life they had to change her into a Vampire . Each of them had to give her blood which they didn’t understand as it should have only taken one of them to turn her and save her. After a week she is out in a car and the driver is told to take her home where she’s been told to get on with her life and go to her night job and act like nothings changed. After a week she’s had enough and decides to go out to the club she works at but walking home she is attacked again by a shade and just as before the 3 men are there to save her. It’s then decided she has to go and stay with them as they grow closer and watch Willow they realise she is something different apart from Vampire they tell her she is Fae. I loved listening to this so so much Willow is a fabulous FMC and seems to take everything that’s thrown at her and more , the relationship with the 3 men who saved her is fantastic and even though Malcolm is stand of fish towards her you can feel his frustrations. I love that they all have different pet names for her and that each of their relationships with her is so different but they are all so protective towards her. Sol is so sweet and tentative towards her it wants your heart , Jarret is the joker of the pack and Malcolm is the dark brooding one who keeps a lot of secrets that he doesn’t want to face. I finished this then bought books 2 & 3 and listening to all of them over 2 days . Lia Holland is the perfect narrator I love everything she does and C.J. Grey had the perfect voice to do the MMC’s and other male characters .
Really, I wish we could do half stars because I'd like to bump this to 3.5
Saved By Blood is a decent foundational novel. We get to meet the spotlight characters: Willow, Malcolm, Sol, and Jerrett. The three guys are vampires, of varying ages, and they're inexplicably drawn to Willow. Although they can't figure out why, they get this immediate sense that she's something to be treasured, something that needs to be saved.
Moss' vampires come with the ability to run through and blend into the shadows as well as many of the traditional bonuses: enhanced senses, extra strength, etc. I want to learn more about Sol, especially, because he has a few other abilities that "Fate" gave him. It's also intriguing to me to find a blind character, not something that you come across every day. I'm really curious how it will affect him; so far, he seems to have figured his way through any challenges, particularly with the aid of his other vampire "bonuses", but there's potential to make that very interesting.
I call Saved By Blood a foundational novel because we're meeting the characters and getting a sense of conflict: the men don't want to make Willow public knowledge especially when they discover what was so alluring about her. However, we still need to learn a lot more about them all.
We get enough to start establishing and telling apart their basic personality types, but we don't yet have a strong background in their stories, in the world-building.
Overall, Saved by Blood was an entertaining read. There's a little bit of steam, but I get the distinct impression that book two has a lot more potential for some fun "play" time. Willow is earnest and kind, Jerrett has the cool "bad boy" vibe going on, Sol seems to be the quieter one with a strong calming sense, and Malcolm, our broody vamp. I'm totally open to reading the next book to see how the characters, world, and conflict grow.
As far as I know there are not a ton of vampire reverse harem books and since I like vampires and really enjoy this author's writing this was a nice treat. I really liked this book overall, it was an easy read and I enjoy all of the characters - Willow is a strong heroine and I love that hero Malcolm is tortured by past pain, Sol is blind (love this!) and Jerrett pierced and playful, despite being the oldest one. There is one scene in particular I loved SO much, it really shined for me out of the whole book, but I won't spoil it for you. I enjoyed the special vampire powers/skills, ones I don't remember reading about before in a vampire book. I'm always an advocate for more relationship building on page, and though they are still in the building stage when this book ends, I think I would have liked more scenes of the characters doing things/talking together even within this book, and more information about their world in general. I can't believe Willow is handling things as well as she is with almost no details about the supernatural world she didn't know about - she adapts way better than I do, that's for sure. A couple of curveballs are thrown at the end of this book that set up good conflicts for the next book, and I am looking forward to/hoping for the explanation for why she had unique requirements for a successful turn, Malcolm's past, history of Fae and of course, more romance. A note in the back says Book 2 is coming by the end of the month, so I am glad we don't have long to wait!
Okay, I didn’t want to like this book....I picked it up because I wanted something to break up the angst and tension in the Immortals After Dark series I’ve been reading.....but I REALLY enjoyed this book!
So much so that I have read the first and second book within 24 hours and I just downloaded the third.
Is it deep and well fleshed out with long descriptions and huge amounts of world building?
Nope.
Does the heroine have nerves of steel to just be taking her new life in stride with little after shocks?
Yep.
But I have to commend this author. Just when it starts to brush the edges of cheesy, it pulls back just in time. Just when I think Willow is going to go full Mary Sue on is, she remarks how she has no idea how to use a sword.
It’s the little things, I tell ya.
These books are fast paced, filled with action, characters are developed enough to just quench your thirst, the foursome doesn’t feel sudden and forced, and Willow isn’t a total idiot.
The books are shortish (2-3 hours for me to read), but that is also a plus because sometimes I just want a STORY, not to read some 600 page tome filled with huge words and tons of new characters I have to learn all about...
These books are like zip lining over a swamp....you get the thrill and you get to see all the good parts but you didn’t have to wade through all the heavy stuff.
My ONE TINY issue and it’s not really that bothersome: can Jerrett STOP “pushing his hair out of his eyes”....I love him, but get a haircut or a hat or even a sparkly headband man it’s distracting. 😂😂
Three enigmatic vampires on the hunt for what stalks the city. A girl who stumbles into the path of despair unknowingly, but is willing to fight. What more could one want? A great read by Sadie Moss that really captures your interest with a unique storyline.
Four main characters help keep the story confined, but we still have defined character personalities. Willow is a girl with a strong spine who sees the difference between what she once knew to what she knows now, but is always on the lookout for new information and is willing to learn. Sol, a blind vampire, has extra heightened senses and and is able to see more than just a face but rather a persons aura. Jerrett is our fun and excitable "puppy-esque" vampire, with the rock god looks. Then there is Malcolm, the strong and silent type, who is still hiding parts of his past and keeping secrets from Willow.
I'm really excited to see where we go as Willow begins to be immersed in this new supernatural world she once never knew existed. Also looking forward to uncovering some of the secrets of their past, and the lives our three vampires once lived.
**I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author for review consideration**
