Ping! Single father Ty Kramer never knew that such a small sound could bring fear and anger. Who sent the anonymous text? Why would they send it to him? Christmas time is always a little crazy but add bullets, bad men, Miley and her passel of puppies, and a beautiful single teacher, all Ty wants is to wrap up this threat and move on to the real presents. Will he and Joel be able to keep them safe? It takes the faith of a young boy and the snuggle and kiss of a puppy to bring peace in the storm. Kimberly Rose Johnson has written a page turner. The characters are so real that the reader can only turn the pages to find out if this Christmas will be a blast or be shaken by a blast. My only complaint is now I need to know more. You won't be disappointed! I received an advanced copy from the author. A review was not required.
A "tug at the heartstrings" sweet story. How can trust be found again when trust has been so severely broken? Author Kimberly Rose Johnson brings the reader a story that includes mystery, danger, family, trust, faith, and love. Excellent read. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
I grew up with both parents present, so I find it a bit difficult trying to picture the way Ty grew up. If being abandoned by his mother when he was sixteen was not enough, losing his wife when their son was so young would really put a person in a bad place. Now suddenly trouble seems to be seeking him out and he has no knowledge of the reason. Worse still, his young son is being threatened. I especially enjoyed the interactions between Ty and his son Toby. Toby seemed to be a young boy who would make any parent proud to call him son. He may have been just a boy, but he had a loving personality and a great faith. He added so much to the story. I enjoyed reading about the momma dog and her puppies but I agree with Miss Bethany about keeping them away from my face. The action was exciting. I have to admit that I am glad I have never experienced a Christmas like theirs. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
In this story we meet Ty, a self employed architect who has had plenty of tragedy in his life. He is busy raising his adorable little boy, Toby. Entering the picture, his teacher Bethany. She has her own set of issues that puts a wrinkle in things. Then this story takes an interesting turn that had me on the edge of my seat as they find themselves running for their lives. Joel, Ty’s best friend provides security for them and I found myself very drawn and wanting to learn more about him. I loved the characters and the story’s twist and turns! I have loved every book I have read from Kimberly Rose Johnson! You will want to be sure and read this one!
Are you in need of a perfect romantic suspense story for Christmas? Found: an Almost Perfect Christmas by Kimberly Rose Johnson, may be your answer.
Elements that attracted me to the novel were several. Bethany Evans, one of the main characters, is an elementary teacher who understands how to teach with heart. Her students, especially 8-yr-old Toby, adore her.
I love the friendship and “I’ve got your back” relationship between Ty and Joel. So essential when protecting those one loves, endangers one’s own life!
Dog lovers will enjoy the inclusion of the Ty and Toby’s dog and puppies. Just something to sweeten the pot.
The reality of the ending was refreshing. Not all pieces tied up neatly, yet healing could still occur because the damaged person is willing to forgive, whatever the future holds.

This avid reader (retired school teacher) was immediately drawn in the suspense of stalking black sedans and the school posing security guard. With likable realistic characters - a caring teacher (Bethany), a precocious 2. grade boy (Toby), an ex-military single dad (Ty). Add a mystery of a mom who abandoned Ty when he was 16, plus a litter of puppies, danger, shooting, a cryptic message WHERE IS SHE?, and claustrophobia for a nail biting page turning Pacific NW (Hope Creek, Montana) read. A delightful Christmas mystery / romance ending in a satisfying conclusion.
When Toby's teacher, Bethany, gets caught up in a dangerous situation with Toby's father--and neither of them know the reason--they are forced to flee to a mountain cabin to hopefully hide from the mysterious bad guy. Of course they are quickly found (it's a short book) and when the bad guy slams into their hideaway, Ty makes short work of him. They still lack answers as to why all this happened. Then US Marshals step in to clear that up. A very entertaining novella.
Very short book. I didn't know this was going to be a novella and not a whole book. The story wasn't bad but would have been better if Johnson expanded it to beyond the bad guy takedown. Her plot was decent, the story was well written, there was tension, but she didn't develop the budding romance, nor did she tie up all the loose strings left at the end of the story. Perhaps there are other books to follow? If there are more books I don't think I'll be reading them. I don't like cliffhangers and refuse to read authors that specialize in them.
