About Me
I love deserts, which is too bad as I live in Scotland, but the mountains, glens and lochs more than make up for it. My other love is Greek Tragedy, especially Euripides, and I also read history, science, fantasy, and pretty much anything about the Beatles…

Yet another amazing book by Christopher Mitchell! This entire series is jam packed with all of my favorite characters with great character development and this one did not disappoint. Each new piece of this series adds new depth and new characters that are perfect! This book was outstanding and even though it was not the end I had hoped and dreamed about, I am still happy that I get a few more books that may satisfy that need for the story to go my way! I am about to reread all of the other books before the final Star Continent series comes out and I am so very happy that I found this author whose books will be in my library for years to come.
Sable absolutely emulates “All's fair in love and war.” Granted, she is intensely grieving the death of Badblood and it probably has influenced many, if not all of her actions. The poor soul feels hollow and only revenge on her enemies seems to somewhat lessen the pain. You have to admit, she gets the job done, despite her methods revolting most of her allies. Somewhat surprisingly, Blackrose supports her, perhaps understanding the level of pain Sable is enduring. Blackrose also will benefit from the annihilation of the enemy so there is that.
So much happens, much of it gruesome but there are also exceedingly sweet moments. Several characters find love or acceptance.
I kind of despise the ending but the author leaves a note that all is not lost so I anticipate a better resolution eventually.
I continue to be blown away by the Magelands series. There is never a dull moment and I'm always left guess what's coming next.
Sable has such a tragic tale, she is devastated by loss and rather than face it again she pushes everyone away. I was a little shocked by some of her actions and choices she made, I couldn't get enough of it though.
The other characters also get their time to shine. The development continues and the depth of the story and attention to detail make it a series epic fantasy readers should embrace.
I received an advanced copy if this story and am leaving a voluntary honest review.
What It's About: Blackrose has her throne, and her rider back. But does she have the power to ally with other dragons, and with one very damaged rider, to save her world and Maddie's?
What I Thought: This was maybe my least favorite of the dragon eyre arc, which is not to say that I didn't like it. More that I think it felt least like a standalone, self-contained story. Instead, it mostly serves to build up to where the story is going to take us in future volumes. Perhaps because I've now run out of books to read in this series, I felt a little unsatisfied with this one. On the other hand, Sable is a great character, and I loved getting to see her grow more here.
Who Should Read It: Obviously, for fans of the series, this is a must-read! It continues the story in a satisfying way, and I can definitely see the future books starting to unroll ahead...
And so we continue with Dragon Eyre.. Sable is in pain after her tragic loss and begins to destroy her opponents. Each moment is full of suspence. The relationship between her and Blackrose changes over and over again with a developing respect for eachother. Maddie falls in love at long last! Austin's character develops in this book and he starts to grow up with his relationship with Ashfall developing. More Gods are crushed but the high light is at the end of the book, Sable's fight with a well prepared Bastion. A must read!
Dragon Eyre Blackrose: An Epic Fantasy Adventure (The Magelands Eternal Siege Book 12) , my sixteenth read from prolific author Christopher Mitchell, 515-pages of epic fantasy. When I want to read epic fantasy I first look for author Christopher Mitchell. With 24 books written over 3 series, I need to get going & read more Christopher Mitchell books. I look forward to reading more from this author. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. The latest installment in the Magelands Epic - yet another tale that cost me a fair amount of sleep. Always very hard to put these books down as the pace is relentless, plenty of surprises (or shocks!) and for this genre an extraordinary amount of character development. Already looking forward to the next episode, and possibly my favourite thing about Christopher's writing is that we know it won't be a long wait.
Wow, what a book, what a finish to the dragon series arc in this series of books. It's a love story, it's about warriors, it's about standing up and fighting for what you believe in, he just sucks you in does Christopher, once you get started you just can't stop. Really looking forward to the next book in the series now, they say you shouldn't wish your life away, but I wish the book was out now.
Awesome excellent characters and story at throughout the entire magelands series. Warning though, this series is massively addictive if you pick this series prepare to lose sleep for just one more chapter. But Damn it's worth it. Highly recommended to serious fantasy readers.
Okay I am so bummed out, I have to wait until August 27 to find out what happens next. Actually I very grateful that Christopher puts his books out as quickly as he does. This is another amazing story in a wonderful series. Thank you Christopher for all your hard work and you fantastic imagination.
I honestly have loved the books about Dragon Eyre! Mr. Mitchell has created some very complex, and interesting characters that you may have grown to love. I hope some of these characters will be seen in his future books. Thank you!
Loved the book, however it wasn’t long enough, I wanted much more, it only took a few days to read and that’s because I was busy. More pages next time please, the story is FAB. Keep it coming, so much better than anything else.
Christopher Mitchell has an a debt way of gathering your interest slowly putting all the characters in line like meat and potatoes the synergy keeps you booked and wanting more Thank you
I have followed and read the Mageland series and look forward to the next! I encourage anyone who enjoys reading fantasy to read the series, it's my favorite!
The characters in this series are so real. The story line is believable and fascinating! He really brings the world and people to life. I must say I will be sad to see the end of this series. Memorable .
This author has had me hooked from book one. You never guess what will happen next. A new character will appear or a old one and completely change the direction of the narrative.
I loved this book in the series just as much as the others. I had frustrated moment of course but that’s the part that keeps me on the edge of my seat.
