MERMAIDS ARE BEING HUNTED.

They are no longer safe in the human world.

When one of their closest mermaid friends is imprisoned in a science lab, Cordelia and Wade insist on taking up the quest to find the lost island of Atlantis, a sanctuary for all the water species. But the island is guarded by the dragon kings, an ancient and formidable race who are determined to keep it for themselves.

Sadly I didn't get time to read the first book, which I think would have given me more of an insight to what had actually happened prior to The Quest for Atlantis.

Primarily aimed at YA I think this is a series for anyone who loves anything mermaid to enjoy. And the ending was left open, so I'm keeping everything crossed that we'll get to venture underseas with Cordy and her family again.

Noelle's world building was amazing and her character development second to none.

I often struggle with fantasy, but this was perfect, non complicated easy to read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Many thanks to Zooloo's Book Tours for my tour spot.

I've read both books in this series and I've really enjoyed both of them and recommend if you like YA reads and like Mermaids too.

Following the events of the first novel, this one continues its fast paced adventure and again I really like how easy this series is to enjoy.

The author has written an intriguing world, full of likable characters and I think a lot of readers will find The Mermaid Chronicles to be an enjoyable series to try out.

I’ve always been fascinated by mermaids, ever since I watched Disney’s The Little Mermaid, I would have loved to be Ariel. So when the chance came to not just read one book but two in a mermaid series I jumped at the chance. Being able to read one straight after the other helped me to immerse myself into Cordy and Wade’s world. I was reading these books every spare minute I had, I just couldn’t put them down.

We have so many great (and some infuriating) characters, I don’t like to go into too much detail and mention every single one as part of the fun is meeting our cast. I only had a little issue and that is that the relationships seemed to get a little muddled and confusing during the story arc which I didn’t enjoy very much.

I was fortunate to receive an arc copy from the author.

Whilst this book is aimed at YA, i would say it would also be suitable for mid-teen age range and up. I really enjoyed this book, it answered all the questions i had lingering from book 1. We get to see relationships and characters develop throughout this book building on the foundation from the previous installment. The ending was perfect, no major cliffhanger but leaving it wide open for another book which I'm looking forward to reading when it is released.

A solid YA, the second book in The Mermaid Chronicles continues the story of Cordelia and Wade, but also expands the story outward to include some supporting cast story arches. Where the first book focused on finding love a la Romeo and Juliet, book two must navigate the waters of keeping a relationship when life isn't going smoothly. This book moves quickly all the way to its climatic ending, leaving the reader satisfied. Highly recommend for those who enjoy mermaid stories.

This book is targeted YA but would be suitable for mid teen also. I love the development and relationships between the character the build more on the foundation of the first book. Marisa does an awesome job with the world building and detailed events! I would definitely recommend this novel!

Quest for Atlantis is the 2nd book in The Mermaid Chronicles and follows Cordelia and Wade as they must work together to find the lost island of Atlantis.

I really appreciated that at the beginning of this book there was a short recap of what happened in Book 1, although I didn't have time to read book 1 before picking this one up, I felt fully briefed to read what came next. This is a new adventure for Cordelia and Wade, but they are very much in tune with one another from book one and they have a number of friends and relatives here to assist as well.

I really enjoyed the world that was built around these characters and around their adventure. There was a lot of the norm and just enough fantastical elements to keep me interested throughout the book. I enjoyed the cast of characters as they worked together to fight monsters, locate clues, and overall, just be united in their quest for Atlantis. While there is some Romeo and Juliet like feuding of families, it worked well. I really enjoyed the overall adventure, there were a lot of gasping moments, and I liked the twists and turns that were taken throughout the book.

I liked Cordelia as the main character, she was a good person to follow through the sequence of events and Wade was good support at times. I think that while much of this plot revolved around these two being a couple, there was a lot of miscommunication that I did not really enjoy. I understand teen relationships are touch and go but this was a lot and I found myself wanting to skip past the bickering to get to the adventure parts.

I have also seen some note that this could be mid-grade, I would have to disagree, there is a lot of love, sex, physical plot points that come into play here that while I think mid-graders could read, it might not be ideal. It was not spicy but there were a lot of mentions of intimacy.

Overall, this was a fun, fast-paced adventure into the mountains, sea, and a mysterious land that worked really well for me. I enjoyed the tied up ending with just enough to add more later if needed/wanted, but that I could read it as a standalone. I think I will loop back and read book one when I have a chance. If you are into mermaids and mystery, and Atlantis adventure, this is a fun read, but be prepared for all sorts of teen-swoon romance that may make your eyes roll at times.

Marisa Noelle does it again with her charming and gripping story of Cordelia and Wade as they navigate the tricky waters of love in a time of change and challenge. I want to live in this wonderful watery world she has created full of mermaids, selachii which are shark shapeshifters, and dragon kings aiming to keep Atlantis lost forever. An admirable example of well-crafted YA fiction with themes of friendship, courage, and love, that works swimmingly. Dive in to this world today!

"You don’t have to be free of fear to be brave. Being brave is being afraid and doing it anyway,”

I absolutely love Cordelia. She's so strong. She fought so many battles. And had a hard earned victory. Between her relationship with Wade, her family, the rest of the mermaids and selachii being captured, and everything else in between, I don't know how she did it. She persevered and really came into her own. I truly adore her. And I am truly happy for her.

But, with all that said, I find it hard to truly love the book. I love the story, love Cordelia herself, and love some of the characters, but the message this book sent in regards to Wade and her bothered me. He treated her terribly, and while not an excuse for what she did, I still feel that it was not ok for them to be together. He allowed his family, Stephanie, and everything else to dictate his relationship with Corderlia. For him, love was not enough. And he treated her TERRIBLY! And then that after he had hurt her, she was still forced to deal with him and forgive and love him because the fate of their species depended on it. While I'm all for forgiveness and growth, I felt that it would have been better if they weren't forced to do it. Even though they truly loved each other and are happy, I wonder if it really would have happened so quickly if it wasn't so forced 🤔

In the end, though, I can't be too upset with how it ended. There was so much loss, especially for Cordelia. She and Dylan lost so much, yet gained a lot. Happiness and love is not an easy road. And it doesn't look like it's stopping anytime soon. I did appreciate that at least the main plot was wrapped up. No guessing on them finding atlantis in the next book.

It physically hurt to finish this book. The first 70% was an absolute shit show and the last 30% was so over the top sugary sweet that it made me sick. I was already over the gaslighting and other douchebag nonsense going on in the first half of the book, but once I hit the "I cheated on you but it made me realize how much I love you" bullshit, I started skimming the book as fast as I could just to make it to the end. Every character in this book except Cordelia's dad is absolute trash.

Quest for Atlantis (Mermaid Chronicles - Book 2) - Review:

Author: Marisa Noelle
My Rating: 3/5*
Method of Engagement: Kindle

Cordelia’s story continues as her new-found knowledge regarding her mermaid ancestry and connected destiny are explored further in this next instalment.

⚠️POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD⚠️

Brief Overview:
Cordelia, Wade, and friends, must begin a new adventure in search of the lost island of Atlantis. It is a task not only requested of them, but also clearly written about within the Mermaid Chronicles (an ancient text of predictions). So long as they remain united, Cordelia and Wade are fated to complete this quest together. And in doing so, Atlantis can become a safehaven for all Mermaids and Selachii (i.e. shape-shifting shark people) in the future. Therefore, the key to this quest seems simple, stay united…however, their bond will be tested as many obstacles await them.

My Thoughts:
This book is set roughly 6 months after the events of the first. I think it’s because of this that a helpful recap is provided at the beginning in order to bring the reader up-to-speed, as well as, remind them of significant moments from book one. I definitely appreciated this inclusion, as I felt it highlighted key plot points that would relate to the continuation of book two.

Quest for Atlantis is aptly titled; Cordelia (and peers) must overcome a variety of trials so that they can uncover the path to Atlantis. Magical jewels must be obtained during the completion of each trial and clues must be solved regarding how to utilise each jewel. The trials themselves are quite imaginative and suspenseful, I particularly liked the journey of exploration concerning them.

However, aside from the difficulties presented by the trials, the group also faces relationship drama. This includes family interference, a friendship breakdown, and a love triangle (to name a few). These issues cause a myriad of complications throughout the book, some of which I personally could have done without. As an example, the development of the love triangle bothered me because of how it affected certain characters actions/choices. It didn’t necessarily feel aligned with the arcs established in book one, and ultimately, it felt contrived/forced (seeming like drama just for the sake of it).

Regardless of this, I still enjoyed the story. The climatic end to the search of Atlantis, with the introduction of a new species, was a lot of fun to read about. Please be mindful though, as this section does include some detailed descriptions of violence. The Dragon Kings (i.e. new species) were intriguing, but didn’t seem to pose too much of a threat at the end of the day. I think I would have liked the stakes of this battle to feel as high as those detailed in the trials…nevertheless, it still managed to be a satisfying ending.

In conclusion, book two expands upon the central narrative setup in book one. It remains engaging and inventive, whilst also being entertaining. Cordelia continues to be an interesting protagonist; however, some decisions can seem immature and slightly irritating. But this can also apply to other characters as well. I think these related behaviours aim to add tension, as miscommunications run awry within the teenage relationships. Despite this though, I must commend the author on their ability to create their own version of mythology for this series. I genuinely love how it is inspired by concepts involving mermaids and Greek mythology.

As is suggested, I would recommend this book for a YA audience. It does include intimate scenes, and as mentioned, some violence, which may be worth considering before picking up. Otherwise, an easy read and fun adventure.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — An enchanting, emotional, and high-stakes plunge into prophecy, love, and the deep blue unknown.

Quest for Atlantis is everything a YA romantasy sequel should be—bigger, bolder, more emotional, and utterly impossible to put down. It takes the strong foundation of the first book and dives even deeper, both literally and figuratively, into the lore, danger, and heart of The Mermaid Chronicles.

Cordelia’s journey in this installment is breathtaking. She’s no longer just discovering who she is—she’s becoming the heir the ocean needs, even when the truth cuts deep. Watching her wrestle with grief, destiny, and the crushing weight of prophecy made her feel more human than ever, even as her world expands into the mythic. The emotional stakes are as fierce as the physical ones, and that’s exactly what makes this story shine.

The dynamic between Cordelia and Wade continues to be magnetic—tender, conflicted, passionate, and threaded with the tension of past wounds and new threats. The arrival of old enemies, surprising allies, and dangerous revelations keeps you turning pages, and the selachii menace sweeping through the ocean world adds a sharp edge of suspense.

But what truly elevates the story is the quest for Atlantis itself. The sense of wonder, danger, and ancient magic is palpable. Each clue and twist feels earned, and every step of their mission draws you further into a world of merfolk politics, forgotten kingdoms, and elemental power.

This book is rich with romance, myth, and adventure, but also grounded in themes of unity, sacrifice, and the bravery it takes to bridge divided worlds.

Fans of Twilight, The Mortal Instruments, To Kill a Kingdom, and Daughter of the Pirate King will be absolutely swept away.

A stunning continuation of the series—thrilling, romantic, and filled with ocean-soaked magic.
I devoured every page. Dive in—you won’t want to come up for air.

I have a problem with series books, I keep reading them whether I like them or not. That is very much the case here. I thought the first book was so over the top cheesy, yet I continued into the 2nd one. I just can't with the sex scenes ("swollen bud" and "rear" are used repeatedly 🙄), and honestly, these two have no business being together. I hate leaving a series unfinished, but I'm pretty sure I'm done.

I like this series over all however there are things I wish were talked about more to bring you into the world. The world is talked about but it gets kinda lost at times. The relationship between Cordelia and Wade is a hot mess. I like it but the on and off again was just too much. I am very happy to start the next book.

While I was still entertained by this one, I really felt as though the whole story was a mess. There were many plot holes and things that didn’t quite line up, and the characters were all suddenly infuriating. I can look past grammar/editing errors, but where this story could have flourished and gotten better after the first book, I think it actually did the opposite.

A descent read although I feel like the first book was the best. The ending was good yet it does leave a continuation for more books without having any big cliffhangers. I enjoyed it.
