But when tragedy strikes, hitting too close to home, Aiden must continue on and lead his team into a mission that could define their very existence.

I'm not even sure where to begin. Aiden, his brothers, and Rhett are what dreams are made of. ;-) This is a military, suspense, thriller, drama, and romance-filled story. The Becketts and Rhett all have military backgrounds. Brynn is a strong female character that has no trouble standing her ground even if she does "overthink" things a little, which I completely got.

Constance, Ivy, Cole, Aubrey, Christian, and Delaney all bring something to the table for Aiden, Jaxon, Mason, Will, and Rhett. I'm really looking forward to reading more about these amazing people!

Some of my favorite quotes: "Their power was in their respect." -Brynn
"There is always a touch, a hug, a handshake, or some other form of touch that bonds us." -Aiden
"I feel like you're about to start talking your thinking again." -Aiden to Bryan

Rating: R+ - due to content and language
Language: use of deity, profanity

I went into Aiden not really having enjoyed a suspenseful romance book before. Most follow cliché structures and plot points and so I tend to stray away from them.

Aiden is not your completely typical romance novel. Yes, you have the couple you root to end up together. Yes, you have obstacles that need to be addressed by the main characters. But, there’s so much more to the plot that makes this a great read.

The structure sets up this world in a way that you believe the characters (main and sub) and the world they live in. You feel for their blights and their successes, and you want to see where they go from here.

Because I’ve enjoyed this book so much, I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

When given the opportunity to read this book as an ARC/Beta Reader, I jumped at the chance and I was not disappointed!

In the first book of the Shaw Creek series, we enter a world that feels as realistic as it does intriguing. Based on true statistics, we get to dive into the dark world of human trafficking with the Beckett Brothers by our side as they work to save victims of tragic and horrific situations. In this book, the stage for the series is set as we go along with Aiden Beckett, the oldest of the brothers and leader of their special ops team, whose feelings of responsibility guide his every decision. We get to see the world in which they work, with government officials aiding them in their missions, as they navigate the physical and emotional demands of what they do. But we also get to become a part of a family that works to recover from tragedy by relying on one another and placing their needs and safety above all else.

This is a story of overcoming loss, of a secret underworld so few know about and the people who work to bring it down, of the bonds that hold teams and families together, and of course, a wonderful, slow-burn romance that has you rooting for the characters the whole way through! This is a fantastic introduction to the Beckett/Samuelson family, and each brother is dynamic, entertaining (read: really funny!), and interesting in their own way, with supporting characters that help ground and round out the story and tease hints of what’s to come. I cannot wait to see where this series goes and how this incredible group of men work to take down a truly vile villain!

I had the pleasure of getting to read this book as an ARC/Beta Reader and from the very beginning it was not at all what I was expected. Also, please note this is my opinion after reading this book and I was in no way compensated for it, aside from the pure joy I experienced as a result of this opportunity.
It is not your typical romance novel so if that is what you are looking for this may not be the book for you.
The plot sucks you in and you become invested in the story almost from the beginning. Mystery, suspense, romance...it's all there. The author (D. Lynette) writes the characters in such a way that they become living, breathing entities and you are immersed in their world.
Aiden is the quintessential big brother, and protector of his family and that theme radiates throughout the book. He is also sexy as hell (again, just my opinion).
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It made me laugh, cry, cringe, and even blush at times.
The statistics are real, the landscape is real, and although the characters are fictional they are very realistic. I can't remember the last time I read a romance novel that was so believable.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a book that doesn't quite fit the "romance novel" norm.

Review as ARC/beta reader: Warning: it does have potential triggering storylines as it deals with human/sex trafficking. Aiden as a book is the perfect starting point of this coming series. It is filled with a little action, drama, hilarity, and OMG the romance ::swoon::. Aiden as a character will draw you in as you learn about his work life (who doesn’t love a man in uniform… and in this case we have 5!) and family life.

Spoiler free plot line: Aiden is the first in a series about brothers (both blood and choice) who have devoted their lives to doing everything they can to end sex and human trafficking. While trying to balance their work, home, and love lives, things are never going to be as easy as you’d like. But when it comes to the Beckett men, it will definitely be an adventure. Each brother is unique and has their own strength and weakness allowing every reader to find a favorite

Amazing

This is an amazing thriller, mystery book! I had a very hard time putting the book down. The characters dynamic is strong, very family oriented. The romance of Aiden and Brynn is touching and you are rooting for them to remain together! I look forward to reading the next book in the series. Congratulations Lynn! Angela was right you are an amazing writer.

I love romantic suspense books and this one was great!! As the first book in the series it sets up the Beckett family through the eyes of oldest brother Aiden. While you fall in love with the family as a whole, and desperately want to be a part of it, seeing Aiden be the pillar for them all makes him lovable, super attractive and and an amazing leading man. You root for him and Brynn from the start. And the slow burn of their love story so pays off in the end that I couldn’t help but end the book with a smile.

What makes this story even more unique is the villain and the dark side of the world the Beckett brothers, with Brynn, fight against - human and sex trafficking. Bringing light to this topic through a truly evil villain, who hides in plain and public site, gives everyone a face to hate and root against. He is evil but a master of deception that I cannot wait to see fall!!!

As this series continues I am excited to get to know each Becket brother and love them even more, all while rooting for good guys to win and for evil to gets it’s due.

Can’t wait for Jackson’s book later this year!

I overall enjoyed this book. I read fiction by this author 20 years ago so I loved being able to read her work again! It definitely kept my interest but it was so long and I was disappointed that after all those pages, there was no resolution!
In the first intimate scene the phrase “falling apart” or something similar was repeated so many times I could hardly read it anymore!
I will read the next book!

Title: Aiden (Beckett Brothers Book One)
Author: D. Lynnette
Genre: Suspense/Romance/Action

Summary: As the oldest of four brothers, Aiden Beckett was born to be a leader. The former Army Ranger was groomed to lead a team of special operatives hand-picked to go after human traffickers. This joint effort between the NSA and U.S. Marshals was the kind of operation where Aiden's leadership skills and abilities thrived.

Alongside his brothers, Aiden and his team became the very best of the best, shutting down human trafficking rings and bringing innocent victims back home. But when tragedy strikes, hitting too close to home, Aiden must continue on and lead his team into a mission that could define their very existence.

Leaning on his team, and getting closer and closer to NSA agent Brynn Sanders, Aiden will either command the mission of his life, or he will lead his family into yet another tragedy.

Thoughts: Where to even begin. I went into this book with an open mind, because it’s not what I typically read. I’ve never been much into the whole military romance thing, but WOW I’m so glad I gave it a chance. The world that D. Lynnette has built is absolutely astonishing.

This is the first book in the Beckett Brother’s series, and is mostly told through the POV of Aiden, the oldest brother. It’s definitely well written, which I’m not at all surprised about. Having read D. Lynnette’s amazing stories when I was a teen, I would have expected nothing less ;)

I love that this story is a slow burn, in regards to the romance *and* the suspense. Every turn of the page, she describes the world of the brothers, their relationships with each other and other family members, and oh the sexual tension! My god. Some pages had me squirming in my seat. Ahem.

So yes; there is action, there is romance, there is lots and lots of imaginative eye candy, and yup, there’s smut. It is worth the wait my friends!

Just some words of warning; this book does deal with very real situations with sex trafficking, and some of that was very hard for me to read, especially when it dealt with children.

Who it’s for: If you like slow burns, dark suspense, romance and amazing story lines, this is for you.

Get your coffee or tea friends, curl up on the sofa, and start this gem.

Aiden is a fantastic introduction to the complex and beautiful world of Shaw Creek: Special Ops. The Beckett brothers are an elite team that works closely with the NSA and the US Marshals, battling the evil world of human trafficking. When this battle hits close to home, the team cannot ignore the call for justice. Aiden, being the oldest brother, is the one everyone looks to for guidance. D. Lynnette’s cinematic writing style takes you into various locations including the beautiful Shaw Creek, Wyoming, which is the home base for this close knit family. I enjoyed this book immensely. If you are a fan of action movies with some romance sprinkled in, this is right up your alley. If you love a good family dynamic, this, too, is perfect for you. The Beckett family is full of characters that are easy to fall in love with. I cannot wait to dive into the rest of the series.

I can't remember the last time I read a book and was so invested in the characters (Harry Potter may be the only other time lol) and their stories. The author, D. Lynette, literally sucks you in from the go - there wasn't a moment when I was reading I thought, "okay okay, just get to the next part." In fact, I read through it so quickly and excitedly, that I went back through a second time - SLOWER :) - to catch any details I may have missed. Well that, and because I wasn't ready to be done with the Becketts!

The real world...is tough right now, and the Becketts and Shaw Creek could not have come along at a better time as an amazing escape. I am so looking forward to continuing their journey in the next book - Jaxon (and beyond)!

I meant to read these books a long time ago but was coming down from reading ACOTAR and couldn't get into the vibe. I will admit, military fiction is not my bag, I have never read it before, and at first I couldn't get myself to sit down and read it. I am very glad I changed my mind. Getting to know all of the characters in this book, visiting Shaw Creek, sitting down with my cup of coffee and Kindle and getting to disassociate from the real world - very nice. Would recommend. Blunt honesty - somehow, despite seeing posts in the FB group, was not expecting any smut 🤣 Reluctant to call it smut because these books are not that, but I had to blush at a few points.

I know they are not the same character but there were a few times when Brynn was talking that I almost yelled at my Kindle "I SEE YOU MIRANDA, THAT'S MIRANDA!" 🤣

Such an incredible ride. I can't wait for the next installment.

I read this book really slowly as much as it killed me, because I knew it would be awhile before the next book came out. This book was such an incredible read. I fell in love with Mason Beckett almost immediately, with some encouraging from the author herself to go ahead and give in. Lol!

These are such well written, well thought out characters. There is such an amazing balance between the seriousness of their missions, the budding romance, and the family dynamic.

Aiden is our introduction to the Beckett family and Shaw Creek and if you’re looking for an escape into a fictional world you’ll fall in love with, look no further. This is a romance novel, but there is also a plot line that will captivate you and bring you into the world of Special OPs along with the team. We meet the villain of our series, while simultaneously falling in love with Aiden and rooting for him to find his love. I can’t wait to see the rest of the series!

This book got me hooked and wanting to read more and live in side a little town called Shaw Creek. The suspense it has along with the brewing romance between Aiden and Brynn is incredible. The fact that they are also doing jobs that get over looked here in America a lot is giving me and I’m sure other people a better understanding of different aspects of live. It has opened my eyes to view things differently. Can not wait to re read the entire series together one day.

What an incredible introduction to the world of Shaw Creek. Through Aiden's eyes we get to meet the Beckett brothers and learn about what makes them tick.

Though the romance is definitely present in this novel, it is not your stereotypical romance. It is so much more. The military aspect coupled with the suspense of missions and the larger picture all layer beautifully to create a book that you do not want to put down.

The characters are all so nuanced and different yet they all scream family and brotherhood. They leap off the page as such strong characters that I have to remind myself they are in fact fictional.

I'm so glad this is book one of a series because I want to spend more time in this world.
