Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this book to read and review, however my comments are not influenced by this.
I have been reading and practising Stoicism for a number of years and there are many books from simple journals to the more historical texts, and I have a wide range to read from.
I have been looking for something to give a different approach to my daily practise (I have been using Daily Stoic Journal for a few years).
This book is set up in such a way that I can read as a normal book, and/or choose to approach on a daily basis and/or work on specific areas.
I really like the layout and simplicity. The exercises are great (recognise many from the Stoic Month I did a couple of years back with Modern Stoicism)..love the idea of "binge" or "daily" read.
However I do wonder if an accompanying book with exercises/journal style may also be a good move especially for those newer to Stoicism.
Overall, I feel this will be a great addition to my daily practise.
I have given 4 stars as I think the addition of a journal accompaniment will really help, then it would push to 5.
Will definitely be buying hard copy once released in UK.
I wrote in my review of Ryan Holiday's "The Daily Stoic" that I was taking a break from reading it every year to use this guide as part of my daily Stoic practices in 2024. But I'll be going back to Holiday's guide for 2025.
LeBon's work isn't bad, but it seemed superficial in comparison to Holiday's. Perhaps if I had read this work first, I might think differently. But after years of gaining valuable insights from Holiday's daily lessons and practices, I just didn't feel those contained in this book were as valuable.
Having said that, I can see how the lessons and practices in this book may help those folks just beginning their journey into Stoicism. And there were a handful of topics that were original and helpful to me, which is why I gave it three stars (Liked It).
What topics were covered in this work? Here's the short marketing/jacket overview:
"HAPPINESS, SERENITY AND FULFILLMENT ARE ALL WITHIN YOUR CONTROL

As I alluded to above, I would feel comfortable recommending this book to anyone just beginning their Stoic journey - especially if they have not yet read "The Daily Stoic." But I doubt I'll read this work again.
Well written and very accessible. Practical tools tied to examples makes it easy to get started in Stoicism. Highly recommend for the beginner or the advanced practitioner.
Brilliant book for someone who is starting in stoic philosophy
I enjoyed it so much that I finished it in just a few days. I will do my best to practice the ideas in the book. This book shows a bigger picture of the subject and gives me a better understanding of stoic philosophy.
This often is not Stoicism: I’m fed up with psychologists turning Stoicism into therapy.
It’s a philosophy and a way of seeing life, it isn’t a psychology and it was becoming ruined for me reading this book until I realised that this isn’t Stoicism and is just a psychologist trying to turn it into psychology.
