In this guided journal, the author shares her thoughts on various issues related to contentment and the importance of not basing your life on societal expectations that don't fit with your true goals and desires. She has plenty of worthwhile insights to share, and the journaling prompts are open-ended enough that they can apply to most people. The hardcover book is nice quality, and there are lots of attractive, soothing pictures inside that fit with the cover's aesthetic.

However, the prompts are sometimes so vague and general that I had a hard time thinking of a specific answer, and I found that many of the prompts were very repetitive. For example, one might ask you how a particular social message makes you feel when you have already answered the same question about very similar messages. This could have been a lot shorter and more streamlined, and is mainly for fans of the author and people who have never thought much about the topics.

I also disagreed with some of the author's beliefs, particularly when she introduced affirmations that were about speaking things into reality. Just because you say that money is attracted to you doesn't mean that you'll become rich! I also felt that she occasionally shifted the focus away from contentment and towards how contentment can be a means to an end to make you more successful.

People will get out of this whatever they bring to it, and you can definitely get a lot of value out of it even when you disagree with the author, since the reflection prompts are the main draw. Overall, this has value, but I found it overly repetitive and thought it could have been better.

I received a free copy from the publisher through Amazon Vine in exchange for an honest review.

This is a beautiful book. Truly. I felt it was geared towards a younger audience, but I still found value in it. Perfect graduation gift, especially for a young woman who may struggle with comparison & social media.
