He’s my boss. He’s 15 years older than me. Against the rules. Forbidden. Irresistible.
My life was already turned upside down. I'm on my own for the first time after being disinherited by my parents. Now I have to go and work for my money. Which ended up with getting a crush on my boss. He's six foot plus of blond Nordic hotness, total alpha male. More than a crush, really. A volcano. Flames, passion, someone who has me erupting. It has to be a secret. No one can ever know. Now we're in Paris together, the most romantic city in the world. Supposedly for our campaign photo shoot... But ends up being one stolen week together. Lost in the throes of passion. I’ve never felt this way before. Then coming back to reality, his ex shows up. I guess it was a one-week affair after all. Except I brought a pastry home not usually made in Paris... A bun in the oven. I'm pregnant.
Nik can never know. He has his own life. I’ll just have to go on with mine. Knowing he’s the only man I’ll ever love.
B is for Boss's Baby is a full-length office romance full of secrets and surprises and a whirlwind of forbidden naughtiness, all wrapped up with a beautiful and sweet HEA sure to make your heart soar! This book is part of the Office Secrets series but stands alone. Books do not have to be read in order.
Annie J. Rose is an Amazon top 30 best seller contemporary romance author who loves to bring all of your fantasies to life. She writes steamy romance with a happily ever after.
Born and raised in New Zealand, she often spends most of her time writing stories by her balcony. Pharmacist by day, smut-writer by night.
I tried, I really did but the business dialogue was making me cringe (literally nobody I've ever worked with talks like that, the characters reminded me of the Haribo ads where the adult voices are all dubbed with kid voices even though they still look like adults) and there was zero chemistry. Moving on.
Quick Summary This a steamy office romance with a sexy older boss and a younger woman.
When Jane’s parents threaten to cut her off if she doesn’t toe the line aka marry the man of their choosing, she does what any sane 27 year old would do. She moves out and begins to make it in the world on her own. Which means putting her art career on hold and finding a job that will at least pay for the shoe box apartment she’s able to move into.
Thanks to a friend, she’s able to land a job as novice. Her artistic background comes in handy when her visual presentations are a hit with the boss but marketing jargon quickly throws her for a loop.
Nik didn’t make his billions without learning to weed out the talent and this newest merger can’t afford to have any weak links. Jane’s artistic input is impressive but her lack of basic marketing makes him think she won’t be a permanent fix on his team.
On top of that, there’s something undeniably alluring about the newest hire that makes Nik act outside the norm. Which is why a spontaneous dinner leads to an explosive night between them. When the team travels to Paris, Nik and Jane can’t keep their hands off each other again and they’ll both have to decide if this is a wild fling or the start to something lasting.
🖤 ~ My Thoughts ~ 🖤 This was a really good read that kept me glued to my kindle from start to finish.
Jane was a great character, I loved that she was smart, independent and fun. She never became a cliché and I appreciated that she wasn’t an emotional wreck when things didn’t go her way.
I really liked Nik’s character. It was refreshing to see an older Hero, who despite being set in his ways, still recognized that what he felt for Jane was special. From their first night together, Nik knew what he wanted and didn’t go back and forth with his decision.
The story was great up until it wasn’t. And that’s mostly to do with some drawn out drama with Nik and his ex that slowed down the momentum of the story. Bottom line is that I didn’t understand Nik’s guilt. A little bit of guilt, coupled with the health scare, I would get. But the lengths that he goes to accommodate OW and not discussing any of it with Jane? That dumb move didn’t seem to be in character with who Nik as a character was.
The excuse that he wanted to give Jane time and space to come to terms with their relationship was great but complete radio silence? How did he justify ignoring Jane while everyone saw and speculated about his ex-wife constantly being underfoot? No! That was the worst he could do and it robbed some of the excitement of the story.
Overall a good read, I definitely would have loved it more if the OW drama had been a bit more low key or at least if there had been a bit more closure. I loved Nik but where was the possessive, in it to win it mentality?
Heat Level: 4/5
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I offered my heart to a cliche and found so much more than I bargained for. Nik and Jane don't always fit, but there never ceases to be a fire there. Rose pulls readers right into temptation with a backdrop full of drama and a book full of heat. B is for Boss's Baby never tries to be something it's not. It stays true to being wickedly naughty and emotionally addictive, irresistible romance.
Jane grew up in a wealthy family and when she is cut of for not marry the guy her parents want. She gets a job and soon sparks are flying between her and Nik, her boss. Both have baggage, will they find a way to be together or will others interfere? A good read.
I’m not sure if I’m just the only person who actually read the book leaving a review or if the copy I received was somehow damaged (I did receive a free copy for an honest review).
How distracting is it to have words missing in the middle of a sentence in a sex scene so you’re looking around going “Wait, what is happening?” The entire book felt like the author typed as she thought and at some points was going along so quickly that she missed words and punctuation and thought “I’ll go back later and fix it” but then forgot to.
There were plenty of other things, though, that didn’t add up. A prime example was the cafe in Paris. We’ve been told that Ethan came on day two of the trip. The entire team is at the cafe. Yet Maddie and Toby go off leaving just Jane and Nik. If it was just this occurrence, I would have said “no big deal”, but it happens throughout the book.
Admittedly, I had to stop at 65%. I just couldn’t do any more, which really does suck because, as I said, there was some good here. But this isn’t even “hire an editor” type stuff, it’s “reread what you’ve written at least once to catch errors” kind of stuff.
Jane grew up in New York City in her family’s Upper West Side mansion, enjoying all the pleasures and freedoms that wealth provides. Now, as an adult, freed by her family’s generosity of the need to work, she indulges in her artistic passions in her spacious apartment. But, her world of luxury and leisure ends when her parents make her aware that their generosity comes with strings—marital strings. They and their good friends and close neighbors, the Howells, have decided that it is time for their children—Jane and Preston—to unite the two families in a New York society wedding. And if they don’t, both Jane and Preston will no longer have unlimited access to family funding.
Preston is not enthusiastic about marrying Jane, but he is willing to acquiesce to his family’s demands to maintain his lifestyle. After all, there are worse ends than marrying the beautiful Jane and inheriting the combined wealth of the two families. But Jane has other ideas, and she is willing to fight for her freedom. She is even willing to acquire a job and move to a smaller, less expensive apartment. And, with the help of friend Elly, whose husband Devin has connections in the business world where he is in partnership in a venture capitalist company that helps fledgling companies launch. And, any successful launch needs a strong marketing and branding to be successful. An artistic hand and eye are always needed to give form to the vision of entrepreneurs. Devin and Elly recommend 20-something Jane, who has never worked, to the marketing department of Devin and his partner, Nik Nygard’s, company which is about to launch a new tech firm’s app.
Nik’s first impression of Jane is underwhelmed. She can’t seem to understand the language of marketing, and she certainly has no idea what is being said by the experienced Nik and Ethan, the director of marketing for Nik’s firm. But, when Nik runs into Jane at the office on a Saturday, he changes his negative impression of the “new girl” when he stumbles upon Jane struggling with the copy machine and helps her retrieve her work. While it is obvious that Jane is as clueless about making the machine do her bidding as she was about the language of marketing, a quick glance at her drawings for the new promotion show that she has understood exactly the message Nik wishes to promote and captured it with her clever drawings. And at that moment, the boss begins to look at the lovely ginger-haired Jane with new eyes.
Once more, Annie J. Rose has woven a sweet romance where an older man’s frozen heart is thawed by the beauty, youth and intelligence of a younger woman. The story of Jane and Nik sets up a romance that is challenged by controlling parents who wish to marry off their daughter and by Nik’s own scars from an earlier betrayal which comes back to haunt him. Rose creates a love story of individuals who recognize love, but who are manipulated by the forces of the past and family. This novel is a stand-alone romance, but Devin and Elly, who are friends of Nik and Jane, have their own story of love and family challenges in S is for Second Chances.

This book had an interesting storyline and it caught my attention right away! Nik and Jane had immediate chemistry. They are both at a point where their lives are undergoing some introspection and change. Nik is in his early forties and is seriously rethinking his all work, work, work style of life, and Jane is faced with leaving the safety of her family financed life of ease due to an ultimatum made by her wealthy parents, to get a job for the very first time in her twenty-seven-year-old life. Nik and Jane fight their attraction to each other for a while but eventually give in and share a wonderful night together that results in an OOPS! Nik has some very knee-jerk reactions which cause Jane to hightail it off to Paris and to have to reconsider the demands of her parents. In the meantime, Nik has an ex-wife who is wanting to get back with him especially since he has become a billionaire. Does Nik manage to do the right thing for all the right reasons and salvage his relationship with Jane or does Jane have to marry the jerk (Preston) that her parents have decided on for her? A good book but I felt that there were some issues that were never wrapped-up and left me looking for the type of epilogue that would address them. Does Jane get any sort of resolution in regards to her parents? And what about Preston? Does he graciously fade into the sunset or does he just spontaneously self-destruct? If those questions had been answered I would have given this a full five-star rating. As it is it does get 4 1/2 stars.

Love this new love story! This is about Nik and Jane. Jane is a privilege child brought up by the wealth of her family and as she enjoys those luxuries, she soon finds out that there is a cost that is bigger than she can afford. Her parents want to marry her off with their inner circle friend and neighbor, but she wants no part of it. Their friend’s son, Preston, who she has known for a while, is not so happy with it either, but of course he is not losing much by marrying her as he will gain more fortune than anything else.
Of course, Jane wants her independence, so she has chosen to look for a job and start on her own. Her friend Elly, character from Annie’s last book, helps her out with her husband Devin in finding her a job in Devin and Nik’s company. Nik is an older man with his own history that unfortunately wants to reappear in his life as he has hit it big. Nik’s as well as Jane thought each of them was attractive but during their first meeting she spaces out and his first impression is shot. Well the story takes off when he realizes that he is not alone in the office as he thought and instead finds Jane fighting with a copier, in which he helps her with, but they end up going to dinner and back to her place afterwards. Let’s just say the story gets sweeter from here with a lot of discoveries along the way.

Not going to lie, I almost gave up around 60%. To say I was frustrated with the story is to put it mildly. I’m all for having a bit or relationship drama, throw a few curveballs in, but the way this was presented didn’t sit well with me. I don’t want to give anything away so suffice to say I didn’t enjoy it.
Up until that point I was really enjoying this book. I like the strength of character Jane shows. When the proverbial silver spoon is yanked from her mouth she makes great choices. She finds her own place that she can afford, finds a job and starts her own life away from her parent demands. I’m not sure how she got the job she did with no experience, being an artist isn’t exactly marketing related but she seemed to adapt quickly and make herself valuable to the team. Her relationship with Nik didn’t impact her job or her ability to do her job which was nice.
Nik seemed to have his head on straight. Being divorced for 10 years he’s a bit set in his ways but is comfortable with himself. He adapts well to the change Jane can bring to his life. Then the twist where all senses leaves him and he changes from a put together man to the biggest idiot in the universe for absolutely no good reason. Eventually he does smarten up again and we do get the HEA.

Jane has been given an ultimatum by her parents that she must marry their friends’ son, Preston, or be cut off financially. Rather than let her parents control her life, she leaves and gets a job with the help of a friend since she has no real skills yet, other than her art. Hired as part of a marketing team working on a new merger, she is shocked to see the handsome new boss, Nik. She is speechless and afraid she may not be able to focus on work with him around! He likewise seems very attracted to her.
When the team goes to Paris, Nik and Jane have their office fling and she ends up pregnant by the time they return home. She decides not to tell him, especially when his ex comes back to move in and start things up with Nik again after 10 years. With few options, Jane wonders if she should go ahead and marry Preston who doesn’t mind getting forced into a loveless marriage to keep his wealthy lifestyle intact. With all of this going on, will Jane ever tell Nik that he’s a dad? Will Nik ever wise up and dump the ex for good this time? Or will it all be too late if Jane decides to “tie the knot” with Preston?
There is so much going on in this book! The story line was intriguing and the characters were well-portrayed. Grab your copy and see how everything in this sometimes tangled mess resolves!
A Very Entertaining Romance. A solid older man younger woman romance between Jane, a twenty-seven year old artist living off her trust fund controlled by her parents; And, Nik, a forty-something CEO going through something of an identity crisis. They meet when Jane’s parents cut her off because she refuses to marry the son of their best friends and she finds herself in need of a job for the first time. She secures one in the Marketing Departing where her art skills will be put to good use and is quickly appreciated by the CEO, Nik. They begin working closely on the rebranding campaign and start it becomes physical not only in her apartment but in Paris during the campaign shoot. Just when she was ready to take it to the next level Nik’s ex-wife shows up and plants herself back in his life. Then Jane receives news so sees the best thing to do was to leave...go back to her favorite spot in the whole world. Question: Does Nik know where this spot is? Bottom Line: For the vast majority of the book this was a winner, hands down. Jane had a good head on her shoulders and didn’t come across as immature and/or spoiled. Nik letting as much time slip by as he did with all the resources he had at his disposal irked me. That’s it. I’m wholeheartedly recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and satisfaction.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Nik and Jane. Jane grew up wealthy and is an artist. Her parents have threatened to cut her off unless she marries the son of their friends. Jane has no interest in getting married, much less to Preston, a spoiled trust fund brat. Jane decides to get a job and support herself. Jane is hired to work on a marketing campaign for Nik. Nik's company is merging with another company and when he sees Jane, he is attracted to her and realizes she is the first woman to get his attention since his divorce 10 years ago. When Nik finds Jane working late one night, he asks her to dinner and they have a great night. When Jane returns to work, she wants to forget their night and act like it never happened, but Nik would like to keep seeing Jane. When the team travels to Paris to work on the campaign, Jane arranges for them all to stay at an apartment she used to rent because it would have enough room. Nik wants to get Jane alone so he can talk to her and maybe convince her to be with him again. Jane has feelings for Nik and wants to be with him, but she is concerned about her job. I liked this book, i liked Nik and think he tried to be a good guy. Nik really cared for Jane and i think she loved him. Jane had so much pressure to please her family and i think she needed to do what would make her happy. Good one.

I received this ARC from Bad Boy Update. SO swoon worthy! Jane comes from a very privileged background and loves her life of painting and socializing with her best friend. All that changes with one phone call. Jane refuses to marry the man her parents have picked out and now has be dis-inherited! Her best friend comes to the rescue with the perfect job for her. Nik is extremely successful, regardless of what his father thinks. He envies his best friend for having a great wife and a baby on the way, but he knows that is not for him, not anymore. Nik is blown away by the new hire both personally and professional. Jane is careful to not let anyone know about her family. She wants to be judged on her own work. He facade slips when Nik insists on taking her to a "business" dinner. Their chemistry is off the charts, but they try to keep things professional. the more they work together the harder it is, but once they give in they can't stop! Their HEA is filled with drama, bumps in the road, a conniving ex and a pregnancy neither counted on. Loved it!
I really enjoyed this book with the ups and downs that lead to the happy ever after. (SPOILER ALERT) There were times that I thought that Nik being older would have a lot more back bone then to listen to his ex-wife and the reason for needing a place to stay. What man would do that after the things she said when she was getting her divorce from him. Feeling sorry for her was one thing, but to house the b***h was another, and to not tell Jane what was going on was just plain stupid. At that point in the book, I almost stopped reading, but I pushed trough and finished the book and I glad that I did...The chemistry between these two was fanatic to read about..
The author made the story believable with the issue most people face like making wrong decision in their lives.

I love a nice billionaire boss secret office affair story so long as there’s real love and a nice HEA, and that it’s written well. Annie J. Rose masters this type of story, and this is clearly evidence in B is for Boss's Baby (Office Secrets Book 3) (also an older man - younger women tale). The gal here, Jane, is no pushover, choosing to leave her own vastly wealthy lifestyle rather than give in to an arranged marriage. That’s how we no that her falling for Nik is the real thing, and Nick’s evolution into loving her is equally compelling. Add in Nik’s ex, an unexpected pregnancy for Jane and some foolish sacrificing (one does odd things when in love), and the result is a great story. Also (and this really is key to me), truly well written with a fun plot and superb supporting cast (fans of S is for Second Chances will recognize Jane and Nik’s friends Devin and Elly, the stars of that book, though both books are total standalones). Highly recommended.
This story is full of secrets and surprises. Jane has a major crush on her (older) boss Nik. It seems like these feelings are very one-sided. But is she foolish enough to act upon them anyway?
I really LOVE Paris, so the time they spent there together for “work”, only added to the appeal of this story. What a perfect setting to do… anything… whatever… After all, it is said to be the most romantic city in the world! If it’s kept secret, surely everything will be okay?
Well, things don’t always go according to (misguided) plan… a big surprise (or two) awaits. How will everyone be affected? How will everyone feel?
And now I want my own (real) pastry made in Paris ;) This is naughty but oh so nice!

When your parent's cut you off just get knocked up by your new boss
B is for Boss's Baby is the third book in the Office Secrets series by Annie J. Rose. So I am not sure what it is with this series but I am finding it up and down, with this book being okay but not really what I was expecting. Basically this is the story of a twenty-seven year old woman who has been living off mom and dad's money. When they decide it is time to cut her off and for her to get a husband to support her she instead decides to get a job and try to stand on her own two feet. She ends up getting a job and then having an affair with her new boss. Well you can tell from the title of the book that she ends up getting knocked up and more drama than you can handle.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This was a terrific book and I thoroughy enjoyed it. Jane is the daughter of a very wealthy family and wanted for nothing. When her parents decided it was time for her to be married, they picked the son of their best friends to be the groom. Jane wanted none of this and went out on her own. She had a small apartment and could paint to her heart's content until her parents cut her off. So she had to find some way to be able to supportt herself. A friend of hers gave her a tip about a job and she fluked it. She could use her art but she knew nothing about working in an office. Nik is a very wealthy mam with his own thriving business. Jane meets Nik and their seems to be an instant connection between them. I loved this book.
Oh so glad I purchased this last book in this series. I just love Jane, so down to earth, even though she has crazy disgustingly rich parents who try to control her. Even setting her wedding date to a childhood friend...yuk no, not Preston. Getting a job is the best thing Jane ever did and meeting her new boss Nik is going to change her life forever. Having a fight with a photocopier is not good but that scene made me laugh so much. Nik has never met anyone like Jane before and it doesn’t take long before he is smitten. Pity life dictated otherwise and other people get in the way. I loved how Nik realised what was important and the beautiful Rose is the result. A perfect story to this perfect series. Loved it
Jane's world was turned upside down when her parents disinherited her for not marrying the man they chose for her. With no skills her friend got her a job where she met Nik. Nik was captivated with jane from the start. She stirred something in him and the more time they spent in each others presence the stronger it became. When the team went to Paris for the job she and Nik were inseparable and she came back with a gift curtsy of him. Now it looks like the ex wife is making a move to come back to his arms. Jane is in a dilemma whether to go ahead and marry the man her parents want her to or stand proud on her own. This story will draw you in and have you glued to the pages to see what she will do.

Romance is definately in the air in this story. It is a true feel good romance with lots of love and of course the neccessary heart ache before the always popular HEA. How could it not? It is long enough that it has room for twists and turns for our heroine and for our hero. There is no true villain but still ... Overall it is a good romance which is very worthy of the time it takes to read it - if you are a fast reader approx 5 - 7 hrs... It is at least very deserving of the four stars I am giving it here and it is a pleasure to give out this review.

Jane is an artist from wealthy family. When her parents decide it is time for her to get married she decides it is time for her to stand on her own. Nik is a successful businessman and Janes new boss. He discovers that although Jane lacks in work place experience her art is exactly what they need. Their relationship develops gradually but is quickly put to the test.
The characters and story line were well developed. I do feel that the conclusion left a lot to be desired. There was no resolution with her parents or Preston.

If you've read other Annie Rose books you'll recognize some of the characters. This is the third book in the Office Secrets Series but can be read as a standalone. If you like office romances you'll love this older boss, younger employee romance. Plenty of secrets and no shortage of twists or drama. Emotional to say the least. June and Nik have tremendous chemistry but they'd save themselves some grief by not keeping secrets. A HEA but it took a while to get there. I read an arc via Bad Boy Update and voluntarily chose to write a review. This is a great book and one that I know you will enjoy.
