THOMAS FINCHAM holds a graduate degree in Economics. His travels throughout the world have given him an appreciation for other cultures and beliefs. He has lived in Africa, Asia, and North America. An avid reader of mysteries and thrillers, he decided to give writing a try. Several novels later, he can honestly say he has found his calling. He is married with two kids, and he lives in a hundred-year-old house. He is the author of LEE CALLAWAY series, the HYDER ALI series, the MARTIN RHODES series, and the ECHO ROSE series.
While there weren't as many glaring errors in this book like the first, I actually didn't enjoy it as much. The story wasn't as interesting.
The one big error I did notice is the original murder happens near Bend, Oregon. Jo notes that it takes her half a day to get there. Google maps shows it's almost a 6 hour drive between the 2, so half a day is reasonable. However, when they find some new evidence later, she gets there in less than an hour. (The burned van.) Jo, Brandt, and Ford bounce back and forth between the two like they're crossing town. There is only one mention of getting a hotel room for one night. That just isn't logical.
Agent Jo Pullinger is sent to investigate the death of a girl in the local area. When her boyfriend can’t be found he becomes the person of interest. What appears to be a cut and dried case soon turns into a huge conspiracy. A detective she worked with before along with a new agent, the team becomes embroiled in a deadly game of cat and mouse with an assassin while trying to figure out exactly what is going on. A very diverse cast of actors, non stop action/intrigue/mystery and an extremely well written storyline will keep you turning pages because you absolutely have to find out what is coming next.
Jo Pullinger is an FBI Agent and she has been called into the investigation of a young girl and her boyfriend missing. The girl's body is found and everything points to the boyfriend killing her. But, where is he?
This is the 2nd in the series and Jo will team up with the FBI's top tracker, Sonny Brandt. They work together and are becoming just more then partners. This one will lead you on a trail following crimes that finally fit together. Missing money, a friend that is missing and a Detective Bryan Ford that is giving up everything to find him.
Really a great one to keep you turning pages and never guessed the ending.
A young couple out for a camping trip are found killed in totally different locations. Jo, Ford , and an expert tracker Brandt join forces to catch the killer (s). But a twist brings a bigger crime into focus. Money laundering! More killings take place and the focus goes to catch the people involved. Once solved the question still is , “Who killed the young couple and why?” The end even surprise me as I always try to figure out the killer.
I enjoy the series and the characters. That said, as someone who is familiar with traveling in the Pacific Northwest, I found it very difficult to picture people flying into Seattle to take care of crimes near Bend,OR. Portland seems to be more natural. Ditto the idea of driving 5 hours to investigate and still be back in the home office for more work later in the day. There is an airport into which investigators could have flown making it more realistic.
I have now started the next book in the series and am enjoying it.
Jo and family are healing well from the scare in the last book and Ford is back with his family. The two meet up again in the case when a person of interest is missing and is Fords godson. A new agent shows up to help and the chemistry is tangible. Jo faces some physical and emotional hurdles and finds out her new boss is a stickler. The ending is precious with a great friend conversation and then a loving family moment. Enjoying this series and can’t wait for more, especially when or if Jo tries for another relationship!
I Thought the plot was OK, held my interest. The jumping from Seattle to Bend and or Prineville was somewhat ridiculous. The story made it seem like it was just down the way a few miles but it is probably 325 miles between the two cities some of which is not interstate and then you couple in the Portland and Seattle traffic and no way is it an easy quick drive. Decent book if that reality does not bother you.
such a tangle of interwoven, heartbreaking coincidences
A beloved daughter is found dead; her fiancé missing and presumed her killer; a Northwest forest woman is missing her son; and a hitman is in the Pacific Northwest with his assignment to “clean-up” an operation run off its rails.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I enjoy all these books, but about the FBI. It has a great storyline and good character development what I really enjoy about these stories is that I don’t know who the bad guy is until the end of the story which I enjoy. I hate to figure out who the bad guy is and then wonder why everybody else is taking so long to figure it out.
Jo , Detective Ford and Agent Brandt are thrust into a web of lies, half-truths, and outright chaos. Her heart takes over her thinking and causes grief to cloud her actions. Jo's family adds another angel for Jo to love. The story has many twists and turns and lends the reader to question why did that happen. Thank you TF.
The characters in the story were realistic as well as the story line. The intensity kept me interested. The effects of the job and mental health are issues that are very real as well. Very well-written story.
The suspense kept me reading; it is the kind of book that I do not want to put down.
This book was a very good read . gets to the point where you didn't want to put the book down. Kept me guessing and trying to figure things out as they came up. Sure was surprised at the ending. I would recommend this book to anybody that likes suspense stories. This book was a very good read.
Brilliantly written book. A murder that should be straightforward but ends up extremely complicated as two different worlds collide. Very likeable characters in this book of so many twists and turns. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
I really liked these two books and the fact you had detective Ford in both. I didn't like that it was Brandt who was the bad guy tho. I was hoping Jo would have a happy ending too. I'm a fan of your writings now.
I found this author by accident and I am so glad I did. This book keeps you guessing it's a page turner I could not but it down. Now, I am going back to read book 1. I have enjoyed this character (Jo Pullinger) and all the other books that he has written.
Thomas Gingham never fail to surprise me. This is a real author. The story WA interesting and plausible. I love the characters he creates. Kutos again for fantastic writing!!
This was a good read. Interesting and kept me engaged. I didn’t feel like I could predict the ending as so many mystery crime novels can be. If you think you can predict the end, think again. Great twist
Jo is smart, kind, and vulnerable. She begins a new case with a new, handsome partner. The new case intertwines with a case the New York bureau has spent time, manpower, and money to solve. Jo helping to solve one leads her to solve the original case.
This is my second book in this series and love them. I plan on reading the other books in the series. They’re so interesting and exciting I have a hard time putting it down. Highly recommend. I’ve reading a lot of his books.
Great series. Well written with believeable characters
This series always fools me with ending I don't see coming. As soon as I finish one I take time to see what I missed. What warning did I miss. I love that Mr. Fincham can fool me every time. Keep them coming please Sir.
The plot was decent it felt like a regular crime book. Some things you could predict, but there was definitely a page turner I didn’t expect which made my review a little higher. It’s a good kindle unlimited read something not too much, but still keeps your attention.
Hebrews 6:19 This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Read the book you’ll figure it out.
The body of a young woman was found along the road, her boyfriend was missing and presumed to be the killer. Jo and another FBI agent, Brandt began the investigation and were drawn into money laundering, the mob and a hired killer's sites. Hard to put down.
Oh this was a good one. Lots of twists and turns, multiple murders to solve and even money laundering for a foreign gang. FBI AGENT Jo is so go at figuring out the who done its. Plus a surprise ending with a major twist. Great book!
A compelling literary work that captivates readers from the first page to the last. The narrative is skillfully crafted with well-developed characters, creating an engaging reading experience that is difficult to interrupt.
It's one of those books I hated to put down. Many side stories happening all the time then surprises. The FBI Is an amazing unit and this story brings it to your full attention, even if this isn't a true story its a good one.
I just found this series and absolutely love the characters of Jo & Ford!! The taxi driver Joe is a nice addition to pop in every so often for some refreshing stress relief... Really enjoying the books!
