A fresh start awaits her in Myrtle Beach... along with big family secrets.
Heartbroken after the tragic loss of her husband and the sole inheritor of her late grandmother’s beach house, 45-year-old Leann abandons her life in Oregon and travels to the quiet, idyllic town of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for a fresh start and a chance to heal.
But when she arrives at her grandmother’s house, she makes a shocking discovery: she has a twin who she never knew existed. As she tries to heal from her loss in the warm energy of Myrtle Beach and finally pursue her dream of opening a boutique coffee shop, Leann digs deeper into the mystery of her long-lost twin. But the more she searches, the fewer answers she can find.
A man named Robert says he has answers – but as soon as she meets him, he disappears. Drawn into the charming town and its colorful characters, Leann embraces her chance for a new life... but getting her coffee shop off the ground and discovering the mysteries behind her family will be no easy task.
Can Leann uncover the truth behind her grandmother and her missing twin? And can she find what she’s longing for in this beautiful beachside town?
Very nicely written story, but it’s more of a novella in length. I will continue the rest of the series as it is set in a place I love visiting, but for anyone buying the series be aware they are short!
I really liked this story. I thought I had it figured out and then Robert disappeared. The book kept me guessing. That is until I saw D.J's initials. Dead give away. I loved the HEA ending. I will be reading more of Ivory's books. I did want to point out that the beginning was a bit slow and the redundant words seems like a filler to get to the @60 page length. It could have gone a little faster. That was the only thing that kept me from giving a 5 star. I would recommend this.
Book #1 was a freebie. It was also a very short book, as were all six of them in the series. Each one had a cliffhanger at the end. Each one was more expensive to buy than the previous ones. I thought of this as a scam and I did not appreciate that. I did enjoy the story, tho. I started on another freebie and encountered the exact same thing and I just deleted it and would not be sucked in again. I have a feeling it may have been written by the same author under a different pen name.
I saw this on facebook recommend in a book group. I downloaded it.. I read the first book in one sitting, then I grabbed the next.. before I knew it I had read all 6 books it less than 48 hours….
It’s an easy flowing series that keeps you just wanting to follow Leann, Jules, Susan, and see how the end turns out.. are all the questions answered? Why didn’t Leann’s mom speak with her mom?
Leann and her daughter Jules definitely need a fresh start. Leann is widowed and having a hard time making ends meet financially. Her daughter is just making it through high school.
A letter from a lawyer about an inheritance from an estranged relative seems like the answer.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
Ivory Fields had me at Myrtle Beach!! My happy place!! The story begins with a mother & daughter dealing with the death of their husband/father. A surprise letter from a lawyer comes in the mail from her grandmother whom she never met leaving her a house. I can't wait to see how the story continues.
This book has promise, but at this point I know about the move, the interior of the house, the grief at the loss of Leann's husband, and some of the contents of the attic .the last page mentions a picture of twins. Not much to go on, but, maybe it will pick up in the next book.
This is my 1st book by this author. Very quick read, with questions still left unanswered but that's why there are more books in this series! I picked this series because it takes place (eventually) in Myrtle Beach. I spent almost every summer there growing up.
I am going to love this series. First book was way too short. Like a teaser. The characters, Leanne and her daughter have a sadness about them; yet it makes them interesting. I hope this author forms this story into something memorable. Great start.
This long short story involved adversity, a surprise inheritance, moving to another state, moving on, researching finds in the attic, and a cliffhanger. Overall, I liked the touching narrative.
The first in a series with a lovely story that focuses on relationships and allows time to establish the mood. It does end on cliffhanger; however, the next book is available.
Already booked a and looking forward to the next book in the series!! Love the characters and the setting!! Always wanted to visit Myrtle Beach!! Now I may have to!!
A great book about dealing with life issues and finding yourself again. I loved the Myrtle Beach setting! Now I’m off to read the next book in the series!
This was a wonderful read!! Loved it!! So thankful there are still author's who write clean books!!! Note: You will need to read the entire series, but it's only 378 pages!
What a spam...this was as long as a short story not a full book. You can purchase 5 more short stories to possibly get a full book. Certainly not interested in this type of offering. Ivory Field should get with the program and not sell her book one chapter at a time. Why is goodreads supporting this author???
Just as a FYI, You have to buy the entire series bc together the six books make up.... one story. I picked this up as a break from the triller scene and bc it's based in my hometown of Myrtle Beach. So far it's a sweet feel-good story.
This is a lovely, heartwarming story. Leann (the mother) and Jules (the daughter) are on an emotional venture to heal their hearts. Can’t wait for the next story to find answers left untold. I was given this book as an ARC advanced read. I’m freely leaving my review of this well written book.
