The Silver Pack wolves are back in an explosive and sexy romance as a new leader shows everyone, including his mate, what the word ALPHA really means!
As the new Alpha of the Silver Pack, Seth Volk is committed to his people and his duty with a deadly focus. As such, enemies are coming for him from both within and outside the pack, determined to end him before he truly gets started. Even so, there's one female for him in life, and he guards her above all others with a singular determination that both intrigues and infuriates her.
Mia Stone was a trained FBI agent thrust into this world of immorality with centuries long enemies, a patriarchal structure, and shifting alliances that has her biting not only her lip but her mate. When a killer from her past makes a move toward her, she's more than ready to meet him and take him down, although she'll have to get past Seth to do so. Her loyalty is absolute, but the Alpha is about to see her temper in full force. Of course, a true wolf always bites back…

New York Times, USA Today, Publisher’s Weekly and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Rebecca Zanetti has published more than seventy novels and novellas, which have been translated into several languages, with millions of copies sold world-wide. Her books have received Publisher’s Weekly and Kirkus starred reviews, favorable Washington Post and New York Times Book Reviews, and been included in Amazon best books of the year.
Rebecca has ridden in a locked Chevy trunk, has asked the unfortunate delivery guy to release her from a set of handcuffs, and has discovered the best silver mine shafts in which to bury a body…all in the name of research. Honest.
Alpha by Rebecca Zanetti Stope Pack book #2. Paranormal wolf shifter, romantic suspense. Previous published as a serial in Vella. Seth Volk is the alpha of his pack. He has enemies both inside and outside of the pack. Trouble and opposition are quick to come calling. Many don’t want Mia as his mate. Seth will protect her over all else. Mia was an FBI agent and is capable of many things, but pack politics are new to her. She’s pretty sure she can protect herself but the ALPHA, is in charge. An enemy from her past has resurfaced and now Seth has to divide his attention in multiple directions.
Bloody pack fights and a serial killer make this suspense that’s non-stop. Multiple layers of danger from pack and serial killer add to the tension. Add in an alpha that rules with a hard hand and it explosive. A few surprises. The female scientist from an alternate pack is definitely someone to watch. A fast read with steamy hotness and killing rages.
This series is fantastic. I'm very much enjoying it.
Not only filled with hot steamy love scenes but great characters. Not just Mia & Seth the main characters but Eric, Emily, Luna and I Love Jenny and her mate! There are plenty of twist and turns. Mystery, intrigue and suspense.
The second book in the Stope Pack series, this book is a continuation of Seth and Mia’s story from Wolf. A paranormal romantic suspense with fantastic characters and a serial killer on the loose, I was completely sucked in, and I really enjoyed this one!
This book was originally released on Kindle Vella (as Wolf, Season 2), and though it had been a while since I’ve read the first book, there’s good backstory given, and I quickly caught up with the story.
Beware spoilers for the first book in the series.
Seth is now the Alpha of the Silver Pack, and he is determined to protect his people and create a good life for them. He’s also a newly mated male, and he’s epically alpha and protective over his human mate, Mia. The problem is, she’s a fierce and bold former-FBI agent who doesn’t like being smothered or told what to do. When a case from Mia’s past seems to have a copycat, she gets drawn into hunting down a serial killer. And when it looks like she may be a target, things get all kind of intense.
The clashing priorities of Seth and Mia are so entertaining. Seth is so inherently alpha and protective, and his focus is all on keeping his mate safe from the threats that are coming from all directions. At the same time, Mia is adjusting to her new world and coming to understand the life that she’s committed herself to, and she’s doing it while trying to keep her fierce mate from keeping her under lock and key.
The dynamics are well written, and work really well with the multiple plotlines, all which contribute to the suspense part of the story. The romance is fiery and passionate, and I loved these two together.
Zanetti has created a great world for her shifters, and I really enjoyed the behaviours and politics of the packs. Seth’s brother, Erik, is a big part of the story, and I love that the focus will now shift to him for the next book. His story is set up beautifully, and I can’t wait to continue on with the series.
Alpha is the second book in the Stope Pack series and came out about a year ago. For some reason I started reading but obviously got sidetracked with work and other reading. I’m kicking myself I waited so long but I really did enjoy Seth and Mia❣️
Mia has a string of murders follow her to the small town which is inhabited by mainly wolf shifters, which brings in the FBI, some paparazzi and more trouble😳
A good, entertaining read with some moments of violence, which one would expect from an Alpha of a pack…I can’t wait to jump into Luna’s story next - though I am wondering if there will be more books🤔
Just SO many things to love about this book! I don't typically love duets, frequently feeling like 1) it should have been done in one book 2) the cliffy feels contrived. Totally did not get that with these first two books. We had one story arc completed in book one and another that was hinted at as the plot in book two. Great storytelling that was fast-paced and a solid twist to keep us invested all the way to the end. Lots of breadcrumbs for the next two books; enough to make me excited for them without overshadowing this book. Fantastic read!
Alpha is the second book in the Stope Packs series. These stories are initially released one episode at a time through Vella on Amazon, or you can wait until the entire book is released in Kindle. Alpha is the continuation of Seth’s and Mia’s story, so you need to read the first book (Wolf) before you start this one.
I struggled with Mia’s character in Wolf, and sadly those feelings only got worse here. She reminds us constantly that she is a FBI agent and can take care of herself. I get that Mia is new to the life of shifters, but she is stubborn and argues about every single little thing. While Seth often thinks this trait is cute, as a reader it’s annoying and paints Mia in a bratty childish manner. Not to mention she did this same thing in the first book, so it’s way past time for Mia’s dialogue to change and not be so whiny and repetitive.
Seth is still the same protective man in love with his mate. He now has reason to be even more protective, and does the best he can without making Mia too mad since she fights him constantly.
There are a couple of twists and surprises that I didn’t expect, however there are a number of open threats that will continue through to the next story in the series. Erik and Luna’s book will be the next release and it’s entitled Shifter. There is also another possible relationship that is developing within the different packs.
The main ARC finally gets to the solution even though I expected it to be different. In the meantime things settle down among the various Alphas and we will see if a feral child arrives or not as we witness Erik and Luna's story.

The story of Seth and Mia continues, just when they seemed to have put matters to rest they’re in the firing line again. Seth shows he is an Alpha not to be messed with especially when it comes to his mate and family. Trouble seems to be around every corner and the former boyfriend and FBI agent turns up to solve the mystery of the missing /deceased Sheriff. He also needs Mia’s help solving recent murders very like Mia’s previous case. Copycat or did Delaney have a partner as Mia suspected? Surprises galore unfold keeping the reader engrossed till the very end.
This book was riveting and I just couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read more about Mia and Seth. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes shifter romances.
Mia and Seth continue to clash over her determination to fulfill her FBI duties and find the serial killer who has been all but taunting her with his kills. The recent murders have brought some of Mia’s former FBI colleagues to Lost Lake, much to Seth’s chagrin, as the new Alpha has been maneuvering to make Lost Lake a shifter-only territory.
There’s a lot of turmoil in “Alpha”. The human murders and FBI investigation, controversy over Mia’s pregnancy, power struggling within the four Stope Packs, Brother Jeremiah and his followers rightfully but annoyingly casting suspicion over the death of the late sheriff, and a DC Tribune reporter on the hunt for a good crime story - all these elements combine in a messy stew.
I suppose it feels messy because Mia and Seth, the two central characters to all of it, remain at odds. Seth is single-minded about Mia’s protection, but sometimes oversteps. Mia does not have even one conciliatory bone in her body and defies Seth’s wishes even when he is clearly conducting pack business. It’s exhausting. I was unsettled by their dynamic in their first book and have found they have barely advanced in this one. Mia’s mom and Aunt Dotty once again seem to be curiously unnecessary to the plot and take up befuddling page space.
This is an out of order read, as I had originally skipped Alpha to read Shifter, found out that I enjoyed Erik and Luna’s story, and now am reading Alpha to prepare for the release of Predator.
This review is going to be very difficult for me. I adore this author and, for the most part, am never let down by her books. Not that this story let me down, it didn’t. But it did give me some problems. There is no cut-and-dry reason for why, but I have some theories.
When I started this series, I had some reservations as to how it would read as it’s being first released on Kindle Vella in a serialized form. In the case of the first book, Wolf, I didn’t notice any problems related to the original way it was published. With this book, there seemed to be problems with the pacing. I am chalking that up to its original format.
While I enjoy most of the characters, the MFC was not doing it for me in this one. In the first book, Mia’s blinders as to the way things were bothered me. It bothered me even more in this book. I understand she is an FBI agent and darn good at her job, but most of the physical threats in this story are coming from the wolf shifters. On one hand, she’ll admit they are stronger than the humans and how dangerous they are, then she’ll get upset that Seth and his inner circle are being heavy-handed about protecting her. Mia somehow thinks she can protect herself against rogue shifters yet knows other humans cannot??? That doesn’t make sense and it was hard for me to understand a lot of her attitudes. Especially when she thinks Seth is taking the Alpha thing too far. Umm, ma’am. He is an Alpha, literally. It’s not an act. It’s not a lifestyle choice. It’s who he is!
I will admit that Seth and his brother aren’t perfect either. These guys have no chill. When there are humans who are investigating murders in your town, it sucks to keep the shifter community a secret. Therefore, you should not be acting aggressively when you don’t like what the human officials have to say. It’s not doing you or your community any favors.
On the other hand, a new romance is brewing with a couple of different characters and I’m really glad to see that the next book (or Vella publications if you read that way) has to do with Luna. Because I think that is another issue I have with this serialized format. I have found that I often enjoy when there is a large universe of characters, but I want each new book to focus on a new couple (or throuple, or more). It seems there are a lot of stories to tell within the Stopes Packs and I hope the author will broaden the storytelling to include them all.
It may seem as though I didn’t like this book, but I did. I just wanted more and, with the pacing issues, it didn’t keep me as engaged as Rebecca Zanetti’s books usually do.
Well, I seem to just gush every time I review anything from Rebecca Zanetti, so it's only fair that I'm honest if this is not as gush-worthy. This is the second book in this series, and for some reason, I didn't find the audio version until today. Maybe it came out later than the print version, I'll have to go and check that. Regardless, I listened to this today and definitely enjoyed it. Was it her best book? No. But, in her usual fashion, she has created a world that is fun and interesting with compelling characters.
If I'm being honest, this series feels a little less solid to me than what I have come to expect. It feels a little bit superficial. Not in a bad way, just in a way that has the storyline kind of float over the top of the story without going into as much depth as we have seen from some of her other series. Specifically, I'm thinking of her Dark Protector series. THOSE characters are deep, strong and solidly developed. The world is specific and developed. The magic system within the realm is defined. To be fair, there are over 20 books in that series, so there is that. Granted, this is only the second book in THIS series, so I'm sure that the character development and more defined world building is coming.
I like Seth Volk and I like Mia Stone as characters. I think they are going to make a solid center for the rest of the cast of characters that I think is coming along. The actual case this time (the serial killer and the murders), well, without going into spoilers, let me just say that it was a bit weaker than I have come to expect. Really had some holes in that one. And the solution and punishment for the ultimate bad guy had me thinking, "are you serious...!!!???"
So, not my favorite, but I still enjoyed it and am glad I read it. It's funny how even a mediocre book from Ms. Zanetti is better than half of the good books by other authors.
I will be eagerly awaiting the next book in the series which has Eric Volk and Luna as the two MC's.
It is rare for the second book in a series to be just as good or better than the first but that is the case with”Alpha.” Poor Mia, she just can’t seem to get a break. She is newly mated to Seth but shifter healing effects have not kicked in. She is sluggish, nauseous and light headed. Could it be from the silver she had in her blood from the attack? One thing for sure is that Seth plans to find out even if he has to kidnap a scientist from another pack and risk war.
Meanwhile, there is a copycat murder in Lost Lake or is this the secret partner of the serial killer Mia took down in D.C. One thing for sure the FBI is all over this bringing none other than Kurt, Mia’s ex to town. Kurt thinks he can gain the upper hand in Lost Lake, prove that Seth killed Pete and get Mia back in the bureau. Ha! He has no idea who or what he is messing with.
Erik is now serving as one of Seth’s enforcers but he is taking a liking to kidnapping the intriguing shifter scientist, Luna. Of course she is none too thrilled. Brother Jeremiah is making waves but is also a suspect in the serial murders of two women. While the pack attempts to adjust to the new Alpha and his mate, there is plenty of uproar and division. Man, what a mess.
I thoroughly enjoyed this installment even though I am growing rather frustrated with the author constantly changing the identity of the real kill. Enough is enough already Ms. Zanetti. Please move on. With that being said this series has the potential to become one of my favorites if the plots continue to be good. I hope you take the opportunity to explore the world of the Stope Pack. It will be well worth your time.
Spoiler of the last book and what annoyed to take off one star. Other than that I really liked it as I gave it 4 stars. If you don't want Spoilers from the last book don't read on. These aren't for this book.
After reading the first book where he is over protective and overbearing, I was a little off put with making Mia, a strong FBI detective, less than effective, in fact weak. She never is able to do anything and right when I think that she has something to add, she is made less again. She doesn't follow the crumbs and solve the problem but it drops in her lap. She is put in danger over and over and she doesn't ever think, maybe I'm in over my head. Seth, is over bearing but lets her some leeway. Which is the only reason I liked the couple. They have a chemistry.
This has the same couple in this book but I have lost my like for them and they have lost a lot of chemistry and their relationship has become much too much one sided here. Luckily there is a side relationship of his brother starting and that is interesting.
The ending and mystery again make the story. This really is a continuation of the last book but much better mystery but many TSTL moments. I would give this a 3 1/2 as the over all mystery was really good but the roamance not as much. So if I'm not rating it as a romance it is a 4. I really don't like that she brings the woman down through the treatment by the "alpha" but she redeems herself in this for certain. You have to have a partnership that is agreed upon or I just don't see it as a very good relationship.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
A second book even better than the previous one
I had rather enjoyed the first book of this series but, as the story was not developed enough, I had preferred to reserve my opinion for this book ... And I rather liked it =D
The characters are interesting (I liked Mia better in this book !) and I really liked the plot with the police investigation which was very twisted !
In short, a book that is devoured too quickly !
PS : so excited for the next book with Luna and Eric ! And I have to admit I'm curious about Emily =D PS2 : I loved the references to the author's other books for the names of the animals x)
Rebecca Zanetti's "Alpha" is a thrilling paranormal romance novel that will leave you breathless. The story follows Mia Stone, a former FBI agent who finds herself drawn into the dangerous world of wolf shifters after a case from her past resurfaces. When she crosses paths with Seth Volk, the alpha of the Silver Pack, sparks fly. But their passionate connection is threatened by a relentless killer and the power struggles within the pack.
Zanetti masterfully weaves together elements of romance, suspense, and paranormal intrigue. The characters are complex and engaging, and their chemistry is undeniable. Mia is a strong and independent woman who refuses to be intimidated by Seth's alpha persona, while Seth is a powerful and protective leader who is fiercely devoted to his pack and his mate.
The plot is full of twists and turns, keeping you on the edge of your seat as Mia and Seth race against time to catch a killer and protect their loved ones. The world-building is rich and detailed, immersing you in the fascinating culture of the wolf shifters and their intricate relationships.
**Highlights:**
* Strong and independent heroine * Alpha hero with a protective streak * Steamy romance with plenty of tension * Suspenseful plot with unexpected twists * Rich world-building and fascinating characters
This is the second book of the series and should be read in order. Let me start by saying I liked the story. I liked the first one more, but only because in this one, Seth is a little more “alpha” in his actions and it gets a little over the top a couple of times. I’m not a fan of the whole let me spank you to punish you as a grown women because you didn’t follow my orders and put yourself in danger. Mia isn’t feeling well and as a wolf mate, they can’t figure out why. Her fbi ex shows up in town to work on a couple cases and asks her to work with him. People are being killed similar to her previous case. Seth is buying out any humans that live in town so it can become shifter only. He’s worried about her because she doesn’t feel well. He sends Erik to a different pack to kidnap their healer in hopes that she can help figure out what is going on with Mia. She does which causes a whole slew of problems. Seth has Mia working with some of his enforcers to help keep her safe. There is a lot going on in the story to keep you guessing. The ending has a couple of good twists. I’m excited for book 3 to see how this journey continues!
This was a good book. There was lots going on; never a dull moment. This book shows Seth and Mia trying to find a balance as a couple between her law enforcement job and his wolf pack view of justice. Lots of moving parts with either a copycat or the serial killer Mia killed had a partner. Then there’s multiple pack coalition issues. We’re introduced to new side characters, which I’m so looking forward to Erik & Luna’s story in the next book of this series. There are several other side plots going on. Non-stop action, no angst and a little drama between Seth’s overprotective views towards Mia and her push from independence as a strong, intelligent and capable FBI agent.
This is a good mystery book but not strong on the romance. We get a view of Seth’s strong feelings and love for Mia. And her realizing that although she’s strong, it’s great to have him by her side to lean on. They love each other and have tender moments. I look forward to the next book in the series with Luna and Erik.
Mia killed the serial killer but knew in her heart he had an accomplice. Problem is no one in the FBI believed her. Now the bodies of women are turning up in dumpsters and she’s been pulled back in as an agent in the Bureau. Some in the town are trying to blame Seth while he works to protect the secret of shapeshifters and his pack. On the personal side Seth and Mia have mated but she isn’t gaining any new strength. If anything she seems to be weaker. They can’t figure out what’s wrong until Mia takes a pregnancy test and learns it’s positive. The question is whether she conceived before they mated. Legends claim a wolf cub created with a human before mating is uncontrollable and must die. Members in Seth’s pack and some of the neighboring packs want Mia dead. Danger is all around as the new killer is also targeting Mia. And then there’s an unexpected twist. I couldn’t stop reading. Excellent book and series.
This is the second book in this series. It continues to follow former FBI Mia Stone as she navigates her way into her new life as the Alpha’s mate. Seth Volk is trying to be patient with her but is very concerned. She hasn’t shown any of the enhancements she should be seeing after the mating bite. She seems to be getting weaker and sicker. Add the fact that a serial killer seems to be targeting her. And her former FBI partner and ex-boyfriend is in town to investigate that and the “accidental” death of the former Sheriff. And things keep pointing to Seth. Then a medical condition arises that puts Mia in even more danger. I love the detailed world that Rebecca Zanetti has created. Her story is full of steamy romance, paranormal and human politics, and danger from every direction. I can hardly wait for the next book.
I don’t think I’ve ever read a book by this author that I didn’t enjoy. She’s always on top of her game.
I waited until I could read the whole book at once because I’m not a fan of Kindle Vella. I think if I could read it on my actual kindle I would like it better but it is what it is. Just have to wait longer.
The story was action packed and suspenseful that’s for sure. I love the way it ended just like I wanted it to.
Mia is investigating a string of murdered women in there small town. The asylum is the center putting the spotlight on Brother Jeremiah.
The place was both sad and creepy, and Mia needed to find something uplifting about it. Somehow.
Meanwhile Mia is in danger and Seth will protect her at all costs.
“You will be shielded, and you will be protected. That is nonnegotiable, my little warrior mate.”
Rebecca Zanetti writes such great characters. Mia Stone and Seth Volk are two great characters in a new series. Seth is a wolf shifter, who is the new Alpha of his pack. He and Mia are mated in the pack way, but she is a human who is an FBI agent. They met in the first book in this series. In this book, they find out she is pregnant, but she may have become so before they mated. This causes issues with some of the members of his pack as well as the usual challenges that come with a new Alpha. Throw in killings that seem connected to a former case Mia worked on, as well as her former ex who happens to be another FBI agent, and it's another rocking rolling romantic mystery. I loved it!!
The second installment of The Stopes Wolfpack series sees Mia stumbling after the death of her mentor as Seth is figuring out how to be Alpha and not Enforcer. There’s the added threat of an FBI agent who just happens to be Mia’s ex, determined to prove that Seth is behind the disappearance of the former sheriff. Which he is, but no one wants the FBI to prove it other than Jeremiah. As more dead bodies turn up, the pressure mounts. Because they are far too similar to the serial killer that drove Mia out of the FBI in the first place. As she races to solve the crime, she realizes that she may have been right before when she was convinced that there was a partner in crime. As with the first, Rebecca Zanetti will leave you wanting more. Can’t wait for Volume 3.
What I Liked: I love the mix of paranormal romance and crime thriller. Even though Mia and Seth are already together, there's still plenty of suspense as their relationship and roles in the community evolve.
What I Didn't Really Like: The twist at the end really caught me off guard. It was a good thing, but I had trouble identifying the little clues I should have noticed along the way.
Overall: Occasionally, I have trouble when the main characters get together too early in a series. I thrive on the tension that often disappears once the real relationship starts. That was not the case with Mia and Seth. This second book still has plenty of delicious tension and suspense. It's definitely worth a read.
Seth and Mia are mated and the story picks up from the end of book one. They are facing challenges as the new Alpha, a serial killer has come after Mia, and the different packs are having disagreements over power and alliances. The chemistry is hot as always between Seth and Mia and we see sparks between two other potential couples. Pack dynamics had one shrouding twists and the bad guy was a shock again! Well developed and full of fascinating characters, I enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next!
Mia and Seth are newly mated and chaos seems to follow them. There's a new serial killer case that puts Mia in more danger. I enjoyed the hint of attraction between several other characters. The characters in this book are always more than what initially appears which keeps readers intrigued. Seth is a very intense character and I find him difficult to like at times which I suppose would be true for someone with that much responsibility. I find the stories behind Mia's mother and aunt fascinating. There are many characters and lots of room for storylines to evolve.
Still really tired of hearing Mia say she is an “FBI agent” or a “Cop” a million times. 🙄 i was really hoping her behavior analyst job would be brought out more in this book. I thought it was more detective work than behavior analyst. How did she over look them mom who just lost her daughter??? I love crime/psycho thriller books also so I thought this would blow my mind with my 2 favorite genres in it….not so much. 😞 I do really look forward to Luna’s story and ever more excited about Emily’s 😜
a solid sequel to the first book, but i think i preferred this more because mia was finally in on the secret and she was less "fbi is my entire personality". i don't really like it when old flames come into the story to create drama and mia's ex was a bit annoying, but it was interesting to kind of see him embraced into the fold by the end.
man, seth's brother -- i thought i wouldn't like him in the first book, but he really grew on me and he sacrifices so much for his brother and i'm glad that his book is the next
